    Halôa

2007 version In bottle/imp: Wine and spicy resins. Immediately on skin: This is very sweet, and the wine grapes, frankincense, and myrrh come out first. It’s like the smell of rich resin-y incense and spilled sweet wine. After a few minutes: The myrrh and frankincense have taken over this blend; it’s a strong resin scent now with a hint of earthy olive leaf, incense, and grapes. Overall Impressions: If you enjoy grapes, myrrh, and frankincense, try this blend, because unfortunately that’s really all I get from it. It’s nice, but nothing special in my humble opinion. It smells of sweet wine and resin-y incense.

    The Fruit of Paradise

In bottle/imp: Juicy, dark pomegranate. Immediately on skin: In other bpal blends, I’ve found pomegranate a little sharp. Here, however, it’s nice and deep, dark, and juicy. It smells a bit like an equal part of pine and juicy red fruit, which smells just like pomegranate juice. It’s very crisp and not overly sweet. After a few minutes: This scent seems surprisingly wearable. The pomegranate has settled down even more, and has become this fruity, red, and slightly perfume-y blend (in a good way!). It’s very strong and is also a very cheerful scent… it’s sort of crisp and is definitely a Yule fragrance. Overall Impressions: I can see this fragrance fitting well into my bpal collection… it’s a great fruit scent when something like Sugar Skull is too sweet for the occasion. It’s perfume-y enough to be very wearable, and settles nicely into my skin. It seems to give very good throw and the sweetness and crispness of this blend is very well balanced.

    El Dia de los Reyes

In bottle/imp: Chocolate frosting with a hint of coffee. Immediately on skin: This is rich, sweet, hot chocolate. It’s a thick and fluffy chocolate scent, not bitter cocoa, but what you’d expect a cup of hot chocolate to smell like. There’s a hint of the coffee and cinnamon. It’s almost powdery, like if you took a packet of hot chocolate and added a smidge of cinnamon and a pinch of coffee grounds. After a few minutes: The brown sugar and coffee have come out a bit more in the blend, melding nicely with the chocolate. It’s more smooth than powdery now, and the cinnamon is very light. It’s still very sweet and absolutely delicious though. Overall Impressions: After a couple of bad blends and perfumes, I thought my skin hated chocolate. El Dia de Reyes showed me I only need to be afraid of bitter cocoa notes, not chocolate like in this blend. On me, this is a rich, fluffy coffee drink whipped up with a hint of coffee and cinnamon. A spoonful of brown sugar is stirred in and adds a dark, sweet note. It’s absolutely delicious smelling and very playful!

    Dark Delicacies

On first application and in the bottle, it's very sharp and earthy with a bit of dark, smoky florals. It has a little sweetness, but it's very subtle. After it dries on my skin, the sharp feeling goes away and a smooth smokiness comes forward. The orchid gets a bit stronger and adds sweetness, and the tonka adds a slight creaminess. The patchouli is there, but it's subtle and adds a very slight dark, earthy feel to the blend. I don't get any coconut at all. This blend is deep, dark, smoky, and resiny-sweet.

    Christmas Rose

In bottle/imp: Cold and slightly spicy green floral. Immediately on skin: This blend is floral, but the hellebore is different than any other flower I’ve smelled. It’s green but slightly creamy with a spicy edge to it. It’s a cool scent, and refreshing. After a few minutes: This scent has sweetened a bit now that I’ve worn it for a little while. It’s a nice soft, green floral but it’s calmed down a bit since I first put it on. It’s slightly creamy, green, and smells very cold. It has a slight earthiness to it, and I rather like the feeling I get from the blend. Overall Impressions: This blend was a nice surprise. I was expecting floral, but not something so pretty. It’s soft, green, and slightly creamy. The scent itself is also very cold and really does give a “pushing through snowdrifts” feel. It’s refreshing on my skin without being too sharp and I will definitely need at least one bottle!

    Parsifal

In bottle/imp: Very herbal and floral with a bit of ozone. Immediately on skin: This is very floral, in a cool, white way. The narcissus smells very fresh and spring-like, and there’s also a lot of ozone, a tough of herbs, and a hint of citrus. This scent is very bright and clean. After a few minutes: This smells like a bouquet of white and yellow spring flowers. It’s very strong, but it smells fresh and bright. The herbal note I was getting retreated a bit, and the white flowers and ozone are the main notes now. It’s very “clean” smelling. Overall Impressions: This is a very fresh, bright floral fragrance. I picture the flowers in this to be white, with a few yellow blooms scattered throughout. The ozone is strong, but pairs nicely with the floral notes. It’s rather strong and seems to have good throw. If you enjoy clean floral blends, try this one.

    Sugar Skull

Sugar Skull 2007 On me, this scent smells like thick red fruit syrup, bursting with sweet berries and a hint of apple. It has a touch of spice and a warm sugar scent, like mixing brown and white sugar together. It's very sweet, but not overly so. It's very strong and a little lasts for HOURS. This has quickly become one of my top scents.

    Wezwanie / Hold

In bottle/imp: Sweet, creamy, nutty, and slightly spicy (basically, what you’d expect from reading the notes!). Immediately on skin: This scent is lighter on than I thought it would be. The hazelnut is the main note, but I can pick out just about all the notes in this blend. It’s a warm and sweet scent, but it’s very balanced and isn’t too foodie or too sweet. After a few minutes: This scent has developed a plastic note on me after a little while. It’s still warm, sweet, and nutty with touches of myrrh and a slight warm spiciness from the sandalwood, but the vanilla bean seems to have changed into that annoying plastic note. Later on still (like hours later) this fades to a very creamy, sweet, nutty sandalwood scent. The plastic note went away after a couple of hours. Overall Impressions: This blend isn’t foodie, but it’s definitely sweet and nutty. The hazelnut, vanilla bean, and honey make this smell yummy, but the red sandalwood and amber tone it down a bit and make it a bit more wearable. I got that annoying plastic note from the vanilla after it dried and a few hours following that, but overall it is quite a soft, sweet, pleasant scent.

    Rozpustnica

In bottle/imp: Lemon verbena mixed with subtle, cool musks. Immediately on skin: This is a very cool, clean, refreshing blend. The lemon verbena is the strongest note, but the blue and white musks and lychee are mixed in there as well. There’s a subtle floral quality to it, but that part of the blend is very light. After a few minutes: The lemon verbena has died down a bit, and the floral scents are coming out a bit more to play. I’m definitely getting the moonflower and magnolia, and maybe just a subtle touch of rose. This blend has changed from a cool, citrus blend with a hint of flowers to a cool musk and floral blend with a hint of lemon verbena. Overall Impressions: This would be a great warmer weather blend; it’s very crisp, light, and refreshing. It’s just a little sweet, and the citrus and fruit notes aren’t overpowering. It’s got a nice perfume-y quality to it, and the musk is nice and cool. Overall, it’s a very pretty blend and I could see myself wearing it during the summer a lot.

    Peacocks

In bottle/imp: Ripe, fresh pears and bamboo with almost a peachy feel to it. Immediately on skin: The pear in this is very strong, but blended with the other notes to create something crisp, juicy, and quite green with a light sugary floral undertone. The white musk and ambergris add a slight powdery musk to the blend. After a few minutes: This is very pretty. It smells like peach is the main note, though… not pear. The fruitiness has died down, and the musk and sugar cane have come out more. The blend is now fruity, but with a warm muskiness and soft flowers. The freesia is the only evident floral note to me, but it is nice and light and blends well with the other scents. Overall Impressions: This is a very pleasant fruity blend with a touch of flowers and musk. It would be great in the summer and warmer weather. Peacocks is beautifully blended in a way that takes away some of the complexity of the scent, but it’s still very feminine, fruity, and cheerful.

    Mad Kate

In bottle/imp: Misc. flowers mixed with rose geranium. Immediately on skin: I hate geranium, so my review may be biased. This blend is sharp and perfume-y right now, with freesia being the main floral and rose geranium coming in a close second. It’s very faint and has an herbal quality to it. After a few minutes: Ah, thank goodness… no more strong geranium note! The honeycomb is in the front now, and it’s sweet and warm and mixed nicely with the vanilla. The red currant lends a subtle dark sweetness, and all the flowers lurk in the background of the blend. I can’t smell the herbal thyme any longer at all. Overall Impressions: I’m glad I tried this one. I hate geranium, but the note went away quickly and left a warm, perfumed, and slightly fruity honey scent. It’s sweet, but not overly so, and even has a musky quality to it. Don’t judge this one by the smell in the imp or bottle though; try it on your skin!

    La Vague

In bottle/imp: Peach mixed with sweet, perfume-y florals. Immediately on skin: This blend is rather fruity. The peach is in the front, mixing with the tangerine and also a hint of grape. The lily of the valley and jasmine are present, blending nicely with the sweet fruity notes. It’s feminine, fruity, and slightly perfume-y and floral. After a few minutes: This blend hasn’t morphed much since I first put it on. It’s still very peachy and fruity with a bit of underlying florals. It’s very pretty and fresh. Overall Impressions: This is a very pretty feminine peach scent. It’s very fruity, but the peach is definitely the main note. The flowers are a nice addition and make it more “perfume” and less “peach candy.” The cream accord, which is usually great on my skin, didn’t seem to come out much in this blend, so I wouldn’t call this a creamy blend. It’s very fruity, bright, and girly though.

    Heavenly Love & Earthly Love

In bottle/imp: Spicy incense and bitter amber. Immediately on skin: I had to look up Ambergris accord, and it is grey amber (from the intestines of sperm whales. Thank goodness this is fragrance oil and not the real thing!), which explains the dry, powdery amber note on my skin. This scent is extremely faint, even though I just put it on; it’s soft and dry with a spicy incense feel to it. It’s just slightly sweet and woody, and very pleasant. After a few minutes: This has gotten a little stronger as it has warmed on my skin. It’s now a dry amber scent with a touch of teakwood and myrrh. The incense wafts through lightly and there’s a bit of sweetness from the resins. Overall Impressions: Warm, soft, spiced incense and resin… that’s what this blend is. The wood note is nice, but stays subtle in the blend. If you’re a fan of soft, spiced amber blends, you might want to try this. But be warned... it's VERY light!

    Haloes

In bottle/imp: Warm, sweet vanilla-laced woods with a bit of lilies thrown in for good measure. Immediately on skin: The vanilla and oak are the strongest notes, and they’re blended together very nicely (the tonka is probably in there somewhere as well). The lily of the valley and white ginger are adding a nice perfume-y floral note that is cool and crisp and changes this from just another creamy blend into something more interesting. The amber is lurking, warming up the rest of the notes, and the apricot adds a sweet fruity note. The blend right now is warm, sweet vanilla and oak with a touch of cool florals and light fruitiness. After a few minutes: This scent is absolutely yummy now. It’s not foody, but it has a warm vanilla musk feel over the entire blend. The wood blends in and gives it an earthy feel, and the lily of the valley is still lending that pretty perfume-y note. The vanilla has come out a bit more on the dry-down and is blending nicely with the sandalwood and tonka, and the ginger and apricot have toned down a little. Overall Impressions: This blend is quite unique, complex, and blended wonderfully. It creates something warm, sweet, and earthy with just a little bit of a perfume-like quality to it. It’s not too foody, and it’s just a touch feminine. If you like sweet blends, especially vanilla, try this one. Oh, and it didn’t go plastic-y on me at all like some of the other vanilla blends I’ve tried from the lab.

    El Amor y la Muerte

In bottle/imp: Spicy, sweet, and earthy. Immediately on skin: This scent has an herbal quality to it, now that I have it on… like dried herbs mixed with dirt. It’s not bitter, but it’s dry and earthy. The patchouli is definitely there, but it gives the whole blend a freshly-turned-earth type of undertone. The clove and sandalwood are present, but the clove isn’t as strong as I would have liked. Overall, this blend has a cola-like quality on me that I’m not really enjoying. After a few minutes: The patchouli has gotten stronger, and the whole blend has warmed up considerably. It actually makes my nose feel a bit warm when I smell it (weird, huh?). I’m getting a little more spiciness now, but the cola feel is still bugging me. Overall Impressions: I don’t like patchouli, and have found very few blends (like one or two) with this note that I actually enjoy. This, unfortunately, isn’t one of them. It’s a little spicy, very warm, and has a very herbal and earthy quality to it.

    The Black Swan

In bottle/imp: Very strong lily and salty water. Immediately on skin: The lily is the strongest note in this, followed by some other sweet floral… the peony, probably. The whole blend has a salty aquatic feel to it, but it’s very sharp and green as well. It’s reminding me a bit of a scent you’d find in women’s deodorants. After a few minutes: The lily is still the dominant note, but the blend is much sweeter now. Unfortunately it is still sharp and very floral. It has a clean, crisp feel that reminds me of soap, but it doesn’t smell like soap really… It’s just very clean feeling. There’s a salty tang throughout the whole blend which would probably great for summer or warm weather wear. The violet leaf is lurking in the background and doesn’t scream out “VIOLET!” but it is a nice sweet and green floral note. Overall Impressions: This is a fresh, crisp, salty aquatic floral scent. Some people may love it, but I found it rather sharp. It’s quite perfume-y, so if you like those sorts of blends, you might want to try it.

    Autumn

In bottle/imp: Dry and slightly sweet and spicy, with a sharp clean bite to it. Immediately on skin: This is a perfect autumn scent. It’s very dry and a little smoky, with a slight warm spiciness and sweetness from the sandalwood. There’s a slight pine-like bite to the scent, but it’s subtle and not overpowering in the least. I’m not sure if osmanthus means the scent of the flower, or of the plant itself, but if it’s the flower, the light sweetness could also be coming from that. The rose absolute isn’t evident, but there is the tiniest hint of dry flowers in this. After a few minutes: This scent is very strong and hasn’t morphed much. The dry leaves is still the strongest note in the blend, but the spiciness of the sandalwood warms and sweetens it nicely. I’m almost positive the whole dry leaves note is vetiver, but I usually don’t like that note and I’m really enjoying this blend. There’s a nice fruity note in this, but it doesn’t stand out as any one fruit or another; it’s just sweet and bright. The rose absolute is a little stronger now, but it stays in the background of the blend. Overall Impressions: This scent is just perfect for the name Autumn. It’s atmospheric; very crisp and dry, but sweet and spicy as well. It smells to me just like dry, crackling leaves. It has a slight perfume quality to it, but in my opinion that means it’s very wearable.

    Who are the authorized resellers?

That was my interpretation of it, yeah. I take it as meaning you can't send payment to the lab for something before will-call then have a different person pick it up; you have to paypal the person directly for them to get something for you, or you have to come pick it up yourself.

What do bottles and labels look like?

It actually seems that there's 2 different labels for each bottle: the parchment/scroll looking one and the picture one Pugmom took this picture of her bottles, and you can see her Chanukkiyah has the scroll label, while mine has the candle.

Recs for a scent similiar to rice pudding!

I don't know how it compares to the ones before, but I recommend you try out this year's Egg Nog. I tried it on and the boozy note disappeared completely after a few minutes, and I'm left with creamy, yummy egg nog, but it smells a lot like egg custard as well since the booze note went away.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

From what I understand, they charge you once they "harvest" the order from CCNow and begin working on the batch that your order falls in. They're only working on orders around 10/13 now, and there are a LOT of orders from that day and the next couple due to the Yules going up I'm sure. If there's a problem, they'll contact you... it's probably just that they're not up to your order yet.
