I want to say that this is Columns of Neptune's freshwater sister- they're both atmospherics with mineralic, aquatic, and green notes, but Die Wunderblume is sweeter and fresher from the florals and moss. The white florals are under the aquatic greens- this is more about the river and moss. It's a bit soapy and strong, like laundry detergent and a little goes a long way. I want this as a room spray or body wash. I can see what the other commentor said about carrots- there is a little something in the moss and vegetation that has something sweet and earthy like what carrots impart. DW is the moonlit woodland river nymph to CoN's sunlit temple priest that lives near the ocean. Night and day.

Wow! Tame and dozy florals, not indolic at all. The bergamot adds a subtle brightness to it at first, but it steps down as the scent settles. The jasmine is the most recognizable in the floral blend, but it's a very well-mannered jasmine. The musk is plush and velvety. Sort of reminds me of vintage perfume. Very much a nighttime scent, illuminated by soft, warm light. Very lovely on a cool evening.

I bought a Wreath of Snow HG from the lab after loving my partial from Ajevie, and it's vastly different! The older bottle smells like soft lavender with tinges of tobacco flower, which I fell in love with. I would wear it and catch whiffs of soft lavender throughout the day. The new bottle smells indolic (like narcissus) and doesn't smell like lavender at all. I'm wondering if it is possibly a mislabel, because I'm comparing it side by side and they are very different- I don't think rest or age has anything to do with it;; I'm giving it a week, but I might reach out to the lab because this was supposed to be a gift to my partner, who loves lavender :') (Update: I did end up reaching out to the lab and Mr. Puddin' very kindly helped me out)

A Guardian Angel Serves a Small Breakfast
auraysu replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Limited Editions
This was the dark horse of my order- it is surprisingly true to life; I am genuinely in awe that there is a bread perfume without a hint of artifice. I can literally see the ripped bread, the steam rising from the torn edges. It is cinnamon-y and sugared, but the sugar does not overpower the yeasty bread notes- the bread is the star here. Before BPAL, I shied away from gourmands. Now, A Guardian Angel is yet another bottle that I find myself reaching for to inhale that insanely specific aroma like a captured scent memory. I personally find this to be a scent locket perfume- alas, this turns into cinnamon tea as my skin eats the bread note. Wear this to trick people into thinking that you're an accomplished baker.- 7 replies

I BB'd Millarca because it had similar notes to Knave of Snowflakes, but they are delightfully distinct from each other! I find Knave of Snowflakes to be cold- once you brave the flurry, you arrive at a sweet, chilled rose of the palest pink, with touches of beautifully juicy blackcurrant. I find Millarca to be a warmer rose than KoS- the tea roses have a lightly citrus undertone (that isn't to say this is citrusy!) with the lace adding a nice antique feel. Tea roses are said to faintly smell of tea, and there is a somewhat tannin edge to this- perhaps that's where some of the warmth comes from. There is the barest whisper of vanilla that adds a subtle sweetness. It's rose forward, but I get more of the lace in the drydown. I completely agree with another commentor on this thread- it does inexplicably feel Victorian! I feel like a darling little teddy bear with lace accessories would smell like this- the lingering scent of its long-lost owner and of past tea parties.

Atmospheric. Leans slightly masculine and I agree with the other commentor- it surprisingly has some aquatic notes. I'm not picking up on the faded incense (it's faded, after all!), but the sun-baked stone reads slightly mineralic like river stones (I attribute the aquatic notes to the stone here) and it has some beautiful green notes: the olive leaf is beautiful and the grasses are dry as advertised. It does have a somewhat warm vibe- it's more like being in a sunbeam rather than the full heat of summer. A pleasant perfume for a temperate summer day.

It's a milky fog- everything comes together to become a skin scent. Equivalent 314 has a quality to it that evokes a mild aerated particle feeling, like vapor, that I attribute to the scorched milk. The lactonic sugars in the milk really do smell like they've been heated, and the scorched aspect differentiates from caramel: have you ever heated milk on the stove or microwaved it too long? I find the scorched milk to not run buttery- milk is a contentious note as people's skin chemistry react differently, but to me, this is a mild and recognizably lactonic smell (not butter or cheese!) and it's what persists in the drydown. The milk note gets stronger as the other notes fade away but remains tame. Tl;dr: Foggy and grey. Creamy skin scent. Would wear on a grey day, sitting on a sofa near a window. Suitable for both contemplative and cozy moods.

The dominant note straight out of the bottle is an herbaceous lavender, but it blooms on skin! The lavender steps back and I'm getting a gentle white musk and the slightest tickle of aldehydes- it's enough to let you know that it's there, but it doesn't go bubbly like champagne or soda notes. Like other commentors, I don't detect any vanilla at all. Interestingly, I find that the lavender fades, leaving a pretty floral musk in its wake- I'm curious if it's my skin chemistry, but the lavender is gone in the drydown. If I had to compare it to the painting, the initial burst of lavender is the purple veil, and the rest of the perfume's performance is the background, soft and delicate. Both stages are very pretty, so it's a win-win.

Predominantly lavender and blueberry, with the blueberry lending some sweet fruitiness and a touch of sour. The lavender reminds me of dried lavender pods, herbal and lightly sharp, rounded out by roses. The roses themselves take a bit to come out- I couldn’t pick them out at first beyond something mixed with the lavender that softened it, but they peep out as the initial slightly sharp introduction of the lavender steps back. The coconut husk is subtle- it adds a dryness and is definitely just the husk, no sunscreen here. Overall, a very pleasant, soft lavender rose musk tinged with blueberries that give it some verve.
