Starts off sweet and powdery and floral. I smell rose, tuberose, and honeysuckle. Dries down to a musky, woody floral. It's really nice, but a bit too much for me
  2. ittybitty

    Strangler Fig

Hmmm, interesting. It starts off as a soft wood, but after a few seconds, a fresh green starts to come out. It's not a sharp, grassy green, but more like a fresh leafy smell. As it dries down, something faintly creamy and sweet starts coming out--coco butter or white chocolate, I think. But there's also something figgy there. This reminds me of a fainter, less sharp version of DS&Durga Debaser. It's nice but I wish it were stronger. After 15 minutes, the green is completely gone. It's devolved into the sweet powder. I'm really sad, because this was so, so promising. I can still smell it if I huff my wrist two hours later, but it's still just the same powdery sweet smell.
  3. ittybitty

It starts off smelling sweet and faintly aquatic (or fresh?) with tobacco in the background. As soon as it starts to dry down, it becomes a deep, rich smell. It's musky and dark but with a fresh boozy smell. I pick up opium incense smoke. It's masculine and sexy and so, so nice.
  4. ittybitty

    Brown Jenkin

Mmmm coconut (funny coincidence, since I made coconut macaroons today! They were delicious!) and incense. It's sweet but not cloying. I really like it! It doesn't have much throw, though. As it dries down, it becomes a beautiful, musky coconut and incense. It's gorgeous. Sadly, the throw is fading fast. After an hour, I can't really smell anything anymore. It's too bad, because this was really, really nice. It was warm and cozy.
  5. ittybitty

    Ridiculously Sexy Peach

This is sexy, musky peach. It's juicy and sweet and almost candy-like, but not at all in a cloying way. Once it's dried down, the brightness of the peach has settled, but it's still distinctly peach. There's something kind of spicy going on. This his is deep and rich and incredible sexy. Instant favorite. This, unfortunately, doesn't have a whole lot of silage/throw on me, but it does last longer on my skin than most BPAL does.

    Kubla Khan

I am in LOVE with this! Holy heck, it smells like perfection. I don't even care that it burned my skin lol. Wet: Spicy and floral. Very sweet, pretty, and complex. I smell sugary lotus flower (reminds me of Black Lotus), something warm and boozy in the background. It smells amazing. BUT it burns I think it's the ginger. Drydown: A beautiful flourmand--sugary floral, sweet citrus, warm amber. I smell lotus flower and the mandarin upfront, followed by amber and jasmine. It's bright and fresh (thanks to the balsam). The background is a soft spicy, rich opium and tobacco with black leather at the very end. This is absolutely stunning. It's beautiful, incredibly complex, but so well blended. It's warm and fresh, sweet and woody... Just overall gorgeous and timeless. Perfect bridal scent. After 30 minutes, it morphs into a gorgeous, warm, slightly spicy vanilla with the sugary florals in the middle. There's still leather and tobacco in the background. Still a very lovely scent. It's lost some of its throw but I can still smell it without lifting my wrist to my nose. After an hour, it settled into vanilla, spice, and opium. Warm and sexy and entirely intoxicating.
  7. ittybitty

    Port Royal

Wet: Hmmm, this is sharply masculine. It smells like men's aftershave. It's woody with a very prominent salty/aquatic background. It reminds me of Bath and Body Works' men's ocean scent. As it begins to dry down a bit, I start smelling a hint of flourmand sweetness. It has nice throw on my skin--better than most scents from this house. Dry: Oh wow! This is changing FAST! Now (10 min in), the aquatic/ocean spray is deep in the background. Instead, it is very sweet, slightly boozy bubblegum but with a bit of warm spice (woody, even). Sadly, at the 30 minute mark, it starts being a bit soapy--like spicy aftershave and soap suds. After another 5 minutes, the soapiness progresses from suds to full detergent. The sweet spinicess is still in the background, but the soap smell is becoming overpowering. I gave it another 15 minutes, but had to scrub it Which is too bad, because I was really into that boozy bubblegum ocean spray smell.
  8. ittybitty

    Centzon Totochtin

Starts off smelling sweet, like chocolate and something creamy and fresh. As it starts to dry down, the chocolate smell dies down (which is a shame because I LOVE chocolate scents), and instead smells like whipped honey and cherry cough drop. The menthol was pretty strong and eventually overpowered everything else.
  9. ittybitty

Sadly, I got no citrus from this. All I got was sharp, green neroli, to the point where it smells like freshly cut grass and dry dirt. As it starts to dry down, I start smelling musk and soft white florals in the background. After 30 minutes it starts to turn into a sweet powder and soap. The longer it sat, the soapier it got. I eventually had to scrub it.
  10. ittybitty

    Languishing for Love

YUM! It starts off smelling like amaretto. It's sweet and fruity and makes me want to lick my wrist. As it starts to dry down, the chocolate mint comes out in the background. Unfortunately, my skin ate this up and it doesn't have much silage (less than average). After 15 minutes, I can barely smell anything. I have to really huff my wrist in order to get a whiff of this perfume. It smells like dark, musky amaretto. SO good! It's warm and comforting without being overly sweet or overly gourmand. If my skin hadn't eaten it up immediately, this would be one of my favorite gourmands. After 30 minutes, it devolves into that sweet, semi-powdery quality like so many perfumes from this house tend to do.
  11. ittybitty

I am a HUGE incense lover so I had high hopes for this one! It changed a lot as I wore it. Freshly applied, it started off smelling like cologne scented soap Uh-oh. But after a couple of minutes, I began smelling something deep and mildly smoky in the background. As it continued to dry down, the soapiness faded. Ten minutes after application, it smells like rich, deep incense and musky citrus. There is a masculine, cologne-like quality to it. After an hour, it settled into a powdery, mildly sweet incense cologne scent with a hint of spiciness in the background. I really love it. It's rich and complex, and so up my alley.

This Is Halloween In Thread Q&As

I'll do my best to keep this updated If you'd like handmade knit items, are you good with soft wools or do you prefer acrylic only? I am fine with either Are there any items you'd love for fall/halloweenie? (Ie mittens, hat, fingerless mitts, cowl, legwarmers) Mittens! And Fingerless gloves!! I love wearing them while hiking in the winter Anyone fancying the new Paintbox Soapworks or Witch Baby Soap Halloween launches? I just had a gander and PS's emulsifying scrub in Indian summer sounds like it would smell lovely Would you be interested in an adult Halloween coloring book? I recently backed on kickstarter for one by a local gothic art market near me and it's due in during the swap period. Not unless it's digital What are some OCYL brands you've been wanting to dabble in? Posie, Firebird Bath and Body, Black Baccara, Morari (on etsy), NAVA Local honey? Infused/flavored honey? Local infused/flavored honey with Southwest notes (jalapeno, other pepper, mesquite, acacia)? My in-laws are beekeepers, so I have jars and jars. Please no more 😅 I am working on making bath bombs. Would you be willing to try my creations? How about wax tarts? What type of scents do you favor? While I love bath bombs, I don't have a bathtub I am happy to take wax melts though. For home smells, I like spicy scents (cinnamon, apple pie spice, masala chai) and I like clean linen scents. I don't care for cookie/cake scents or florals. What kinds of home smell good things do you like? (I.e. incense, candles, wax melts, felt scent balls, essential oils, linen spray) Candles, wax melts, linen spray My question for the fellow pumpkins would you like anything from the bath and bodyworks Halloween line? No thank you Do you have any interest in spooky squishmallows? No thank you And would you enjoy spooky stationary? Not loose stationary paper, but I'm ok with notebooks I know a lot of us are witchy and have deeply held beliefs about the materials we use as part of our practice. If you're one of those individuals, are there certain herbs, crystals, etc that you do not want to receive? This isn't really about materials, but please don't send anything sugar skull related When you have a distinct preference for one holiday over another, What are some cross over items that actually work for both? Bats; Witchy/Halloween plant stakes (like this or this. Acrylic/plastic cake toppers work too); horror-film related things-- art, stickers SVG files, scents that you think smell like a particular horror film/heroin/villainess (Click on my BPAL spreadsheet and go to the mood board section to get an idea of what I mean by this). I love Rosemary's Baby, Midsommar, Jennifer's Body, Buffy, The Craft, VVitch/the witch, Netflix series: The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass. Here are some ideas. Does anything from JiJi Knight spark your interest? https://jijiknight.com/ No thank you Any spooky/weenie DVD's you're missing and would like in your collection? Not right now Shampoo and/or conditioner bars and if so, for what type of hair (dry, fine, oily, curly, normal)? No thank you The Ectogasm Halloween Collection is live. Does anything interest you? https://www.ectogasm.net/collections/halloween Those are so cute! I like "pick your poison", "I am not responsible for amy spirits I summon", and "Spoilers". And, in general, I really like pins and patches On a scale from Paprika Is a Heatwave to Let Me Eat a Peck of Pickled Ghost Chiles, how spicy is too spicy, and how spicy is just right? Jalapeno is my limit I make lightweight hairfalls- would you be interested in some? Either to incorporate into a costume or just for your own year-round use? If so, name your colors and preferred length, and if you have any fiber allergies you want me to take note of! They look pretty awesome, but they're just not my thing If I were to make you a set of arm warmers/ fingerless mitts, what color(s) & style would you like? Oooh, I'd love this! I'd like them short (it's a little too warm here for longer lengths), solid, and color wise, so long as they aren't pastels or yellow, I'll be a happy camper. Homemade canned and baked and concocted goodies? Any aversions? So long as it's not something I'm allergic to BUT I don't like anything coffee flavored. If I could make you some of my fudge, what would you prefer? No fudge, please To answer my own question: Are you open to trying different indie perfume houses if I find a scent that I think you'd enjoy? Yes, but please no Alkemia, as I have a really low hit rate with that house (turns soapy on my skin 50/50) I love making stickers!! If I could design you some stickers, what would you love to have? It could be halloween themed or not! My art style is a bit simplistic, cartoony, and cutesy, I usually draw fairies but last year I did a swap on reddit and made someone a bunch of halloween dog stickers lol. (Sidenote: They probably won't be waterproof, but they're glossy vinyl!) Ooooh, this sounds fun! Maybe something based on my dogs (here they are) or anything cutesy DnD related I've got a bunch of small round labels perfect for bpal 5ml label lid art! Name your top 5-10 scents that you'd love to have lid art made for! Just as a fun little extra in your package if desired (Could also work for other companies with lids just like the BPAL bottles) I'm about to show my whole newbie ass, but I don't really have any 5ml bottles Is there something you collect that perhaps you'd enjoy a Disney version of (tea, socks, enamel pins, plushies etc etc etc)??? No thank you Okay my first question: would you like any decor from Say Target, Homewood, or William and Sonoma? Sure I like candlesticks and kitchen towels I am going to Dragon Con for the first time! I just read the notes in the comments and I'd LOOOVE Ridiculously Sexy Peach, but I'd also be happy to receive Chrome Peach and Peach Kissed Daddy Would you be interested in a bag like we sell in our etsy shop? https://twinklentwilight.etsy.com Sure! I'm always looking for makeup storage. I especially liked the fabric on mystic and wicked If you are a yarnie, are you interested in a ceramic yarn bowl? I sadly am not a yarnie and never learned to knit/crochet 😓 Are you interested in trying some of our "thunder butter"? Is there anything in particular you are looking for if you'd want some? What about ribbon remnants? Colors/textures? I love ribbon! I like thin ribbons (for modifying bra straps, so around that width), which makes good use for remnants. I usually use grosgrain for this. BUT I also really like wrapping gifts with bows a little too much, so I'll happily take thicker ribbons too. And I also like velvet and flat lace ribbons to use for bookmarks. Would you be interested in any skincare items? Anything you would not want? Oooh, I'm always interested in skincare, BUT please no peels or physical exfoliants (scrubs, etc). Starts off smelling like bright citrus with a very slight musky background. It's sweet, but not overly sweet. I really like it. Drydown: While the citrus notes are still there, I can now pick up the lilac. Sadly, the lilac is a bit soap on me. After an hour, it smells like lilac soap. I'm so sad, because it was so nice before.
  14. ittybitty

Started off as a soapy floral with a bit of spice in the background. It quickly dried down to a very dark, musty incense with a soapy background. It reminds me of cheap men's bar soap that you find in discount stores like TJMaxx and Ross. I've had issues with clove turning soapy on me, and I'm pretty sure that that's what's happening here. The clove just isn't jiving with my skin.

    This Is Halloween Questionnaire

Would you prefer a fall-themed package or a Halloween-themed package? A bit of both would be nice! I love everything fall and everything Halloween Do you celebrate any fall holidays? Please feel free to place as much info/context as you wish: I celebrate Dia De Los Muertos as part of my Honduran culture. We celebrate it by making lots of tasty food and going to the graves of our loved ones to share our feast with them and spend time with them. Since I don’t live near the graves of any of my deceased family members, I celebrate at home with my husband. We cook our grandparents' (and other deceased family members') favorite meals, fix their coffee the way they liked their coffee, and sit at the table and eat together. We fix plates for our deceased family and give them a seat. We tell them we miss them and give them updates on our life. I keep my ancestor altar/ofrenda up year-long, but I make sure to leave extra food, tobacco, and alcohol offerings through October. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but my birthday is in November and we celebrate that (nothing big, we usually just order a gluten free dessert), but I’m not sure if that qualifies as a holiday Are there certain things for Halloween -- or your general love of fall -- that you would particularly appreciate receiving? Spiced teas (especially chai!), mittens, socks, witchy things (so long as they’re not cartoon-y) If you celebrate Halloween, are you dressing up? I won't be dressing up this year *What as? Allergies, dietary, and lifestyle restrictions: I have celiac disease (BUT my husband isn’t—so if you send goodies, if they’re homemade, please label them), I can’t eat banana, pumpkin, large squash (like butternut), and I’m severely allergic to all seafood. I also am allergic to most metals (especially silver) Do you (or anyone who might come in contact or view of the contents of these glorious packages) have any kind of phobia, trigger, or squick-out which is likely to arise in fall or Halloween-themed goodies (please address concerns over spiders, ghosts, severed hands, etc., here)? Please nothing spider related. But the rest is A-OK Is there anything (that you know of) which it is illegal to mail to you, or that might cause Customs to become upset and hang on to your package? Not that I know of Favorite Flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, Cinnamon (I love hot cinnamon), Ginger, Cherry, Peach, Spiced Apple (like apple pie), Lychee, Mango, Strawberry Least Favorite Flavors: Grape, anything melon (watermelon, melon, honeydew…), coffee, PLEASE don't send cinnamon flavored candy! I had an horrible allergic reaction this past week to my favorite candy. My mouth and tongue are still swollen and blistered and I haven't been able to eat solid food for 5 days due to the pain. Do you like coffee and/or tea? I cannot drink coffee due to medical issues (but my husband loves coffee!), but I love all tea (except for rooibos)! Favorite snacks and treats: I love cinnamon candies like atomic fireballs and hot tamales, popcorn, hot cheetos, dried apricot, rice crispy treats, ranch flavored corn nuts, granola. I really enjoy trying new things too! Favorite scents(both specific notes and perfume blends): I’m still pretty new to indies (I got into them just over a year ago), and I am very new to BPAL, so I am very open to trying new things. I couldn’t say no to makeup *If you would like makeup, what sorts would you prefer? eye shadow/eye glitter, funky eye shadows, lip gloss, anything duo chrome, creamy lipsticks in mid tones (My skin is medium and lighter colors don’t look great on me), sheer lipstick *Any favorite makeup brands, colors? As for colors, I like browns, coppers, green, orange, dark pinks, anything with glitter and shimmer (especially color shifting or duo chrome) *Any hated/not-preferred makeup brands, colors, or products (example: thanks to your sample box of choice, you hope never to see another black eyeliner as long as you live)? No MAC please, no light colored lipstick, no matte lipstick (I have WAY too many!) Favorite bath and body products? I love hair oils, body scrubs, moisturizers/body butter… I don’t think there’s something I don’t like! Please only things made from stainless steel *If so, what sort? Earrings, necklaces. I like plain/classic things (ex: my favorite necklace is a very short chain with a single opal bead), but I also love political earrings (like resin-casted uterus, guillotine, eat the rich, etc) *What sizes and/or lengths do you prefer? I like shorter length necklaces Home style: We're in the process of switching up our style, but we're hoping for a sort of boho/goth aesthetic with lots of houseplants. Think rich, cool, gemstone colors like emerald greens and sapphire blues ; velvets and fun textures ; ornate frames Would you appreciate any seasonal decorations or art for your home? Yes *Are there any restrictions (no naked people, no breakables, that kind of thing)? Nothing breakable, nothing that cannot be washed (I have dirty pets lol) What's your fall/Halloween style? Yes I have a wonderful husband who also loves indie perfume. He’s been wearing Solstice Scents Vanilla Pipe Tobacco and BPAL’s The Bow & Crown of Conquest). He loves all things about social/group psychology (he’s a social psychology professor) and he loves reading horror. I also have two dogs and a cat. Eddie is a 5 year old mini Aussie who loves learning new tricks and playing with frisbees. He’s very picky about his frisbees though; he only likes the hard kind with the hole in the middle. Fuzz is a 13 year old sheltie. She isn’t very active anymore but loves treats. Catticus Linus Finch is the cat. He’s 10 and he likes playing with Eddie. He doesn’t like treats, but he does like catnip. Are you okay with having some individual items shipped to your directly? (ie. to make shipping less expensive for an international swap or to make sure something is received from a shop before the swap deadline) Yes-whatever is easier for you Are you comfortable receiving good/like new condition used items? I would be very happy to receive used items How about handmade items? I would LOVE handmade items! If you enjoy crafting or making things in general, and I didn't mention the thing you like to make, and you're worried that I won't like it...don't! I want it and I'll love it What are a few inexpensive things that you always appreciate receiving? Food/treats/candy Is there anything you’d rather not receive? Please no little figurines or embroidery/cross stitches Please place your wishlists and moodboards here (or link them in your sig., to give your swapper great ideas of what you like): Please don't think that I will only be happy with the specific items in this wishlist!! This is just to give you an idea of things like I like. All items have little explanations/comments if you click on them to explain what I like about them. https://wishlist.com/l/rRpPrB ; https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D6W0ZVN0kSly-VKh-K8nOjG5rERt3tn19Z3zkXxNZ_A/edit?usp=sharing ; MY indie scents wishlist https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dnPHJmhAlYJq6w1wh9det0uNHit7Xy6WKxJhWHfP5HY/edit?usp=sharing Is there anything else you would like to say to your swapper?
