I bought a 2nd bottle for back-up. This one has a kick, compared to my 1st bottle. As I said in my initial post, it starts off milky, & toasty, then turns spicy incense. I get a faint whiff of our dearest Rose note at the end. I feel like this one is a real hit, & you shouldn't pass on owning a bottle. I mostly bought a 2nd bottle because my also wife enjoys it so much! She uses it in her diffuser necklace.
  2. I wasn't sure what to expect. Olibanum is a type of frankincense, & it doesn't have much depth or impression when I've encountered it from BPAL. But this one smells nice, sweet, & almost like smoke from the resin smoldering on a coal. Sandalwood has been hit or miss for me, bought way too much sandalwood incense in the past & burnt myself out. BUT this Australian Sandalwood is rich, warm, & "fuzzy", like the person above me mentioned. As for the Blue Tansy, this is my first encounter. I know it's kind of expensive too. It adds a nice crisp & light floral, & also seems to be the final impression after it's faded. Overall, this is a lovely blend, & I'm glad I bought it even tho I was scared I wouldn't like it. Has a medium throw & doesn't seem to last long tho.

    Gaia's Blessing

I've used this in a couple of money spells, & it works for me. I'll share with you the things I've done. Put a drop on any note of currency, then keep it in your wallet/purse/pocket. I've also made a sugar jar (to attract sweet things) with rice, salt, some coins, a metal pentacle, & a few drops of this oil. Shake it while thinking about blessings, & keep it in a hidden place. I've worn this a few times, too. Very strong patchouli, with spikenard singing loudly, & the sages give it some spice. I got a sniff down from 3 women at the register once when wearing this... I felt so awkward, & it's probably why I don't wear this much anymore too, but it attracts the old school patchouli lovers, & I mean it draws them in closely! I also could have sworn marigold was in this, but I must be confusing my scents.

    Midnight Mass

My bottle is 2020 edition. After all this time it has become thick, syrupy, slippery, with an almost cherry-like overall smell. That must be the rich myrrh & resinous frankincense notes playing together wonderfully. It has lost its incense smell, strengthened, & taken a turn for something lovely.

    Innocent Souls Turned Carrion Birds

It finally happened. It matured enough to make a stand out impression. Grey musk, toasty grey sandalwood, & a little labdanum to sweeten it all up. Like I said before, it is shroud-like, clings close to the body/low throw. It's a gorgeous, foggy, dewy day impression. As the person above me said, "a unique atmospheric fuzzy feel". ?

    Sin

Took me a while to find this post! For a moment I thought I had a long lost imp. Lol The scent is rich, & deep. First impression is slightly toasty sandalwood. I don't think having an imp allows it to play out. I'll have to buy a bottle & age it. At the end of it I smell cinnamon. The patchouli is very faint. I like it!

    Sybaris

Received as an imp. A very light scent. I can't make out individual notes. I think I'll need to buy a full bottle to get the best experience. I get slight clove, one hidden violet flower. As for the incense, I get a little. Tonka bean I'm not familiar with, but have heard it is like vanilla. I don't pick that up when sniffing my arm.

    Le Lèthè

I'm intrigued by this imp. I want more. It has all great notes. The "chewy tobacco" I was hoping for a gentle smell that would remind me of my great grandfather with his pipe. I don't get that, but this is still a lovely blend. As it fades I get the golden amber & nutmeg. Well, I just might have to buy a bottle.

    Masquerade

So simple, so delicate, so elegant. The patchouli is raw & rooty smelling. The orange blossom takes lead however, & then some gentle spice from the carnation. Needless to say, the ambergris amps up everything here. I think I would like to wear this coming Spring.

This is a gorgeous scent, & it smells like a hippie shop. It starts out slightly toasty, & milky, carnation murmurs, then slowly becomes the spiced Scherezade. That's the incense/hippie coming forward. Finally, the faintest of Rakshasa. It's interesting how this one plays in the nose. This turducken concept was fun & led to an interesting scent profile. Much love to BPAL.

Sweet Patchouli, Labdanum & Ylang Ylang

I obtained a 2nd bottle via swap. This one smells more funky-poo sweet patchouli, woody labdanum, & the Ylang Ylang lends a little sweetness. This bottle isn't as strong as my first one.

    Nefertiti

Received as an imp swap. I don't get the full experience, but this is a light & airy blend. I don't pick up much, honestly. The myrrh is very soft, & I'm getting the slightest herbs. Perhaps I've went nose blind from sniffing too much. I will probably come back to review this again.

    The Sun Rising

I thought I left a review for this. 2021, it has a sharp smell to it. Probably the amber & jasmine dancing together. The peppercorn really amps this up. Neroli & myrrh smoke is very faint. I want more for this, but am probably going to trade it.

    Eclipse

It is a delicious smell. Bitter almond blending with a small drop of cinnamon, & vanilla. Frankincense lends a delicious smell too. As for Heliotrope, she is there singing, just not too loudly. I would probably buy my wife a bottle of this since she enjoys almond blends.

    Black Forest

Received an imp in my recent order. I bought a bottle of this 3 years ago in my first purchase. It smells like a forest with some richness/elegance to it. My bottle turned sour when I reached the last bit of it. This imp smells more like a delicate forest with a glimmering smell from the ambergris. I really enjoy the lab's black musk note. It brings up thick, black, oily fluids to mind. & combined in this it has fresh tree resins to cut thru the musk, & ambergris to make this into a rich, damp forest scent. I need to buy another bottle!

    Arcana

I had an imp from about a year ago, & received another recently. The new one is a darker oil, also deeper smell. The earlier version is light colored, & more floral. This new one has more bang!

    Anne Bonny

I received an imp a couple years ago. Finally grabbed a full bottle. It smells so fragrant, almost like a stripped down Queen Butterfly. I say this because I can almost smell orange blossom in it, but that's not listed. The patchouli isn't too earthy either, but it is very heady & woodsy. The sandalwood is divine too. Overall, it is a deep patchouli with incense smelling perfume. Glad to have a full bottle now!

    Vanitas With Playing Cards

Something slightly spicy, a hint sweet, & creamy. But overall woodsy; a men's cologne. It has to be the vetiver & labdanum lending those sweet-wood qualities. I can get the mahogany coming out later with the musk. A Fall scent for me. It almost recreates a mallow smell, like In Dubiis Libertas. & it also reminds me of a mature version of the chocolate Axe Body Spray I was obsessed with at least a decade ago.

    Innocent Souls Turned Carrion Birds

Very sheer, almost like a shroud, almost not there. The sandalwood is sharp, & reminds me of The Sun Rising. But it's tolerable, & I like the labdanum playing softly. It will have to age to get more throw & depth, I think. I can barely smell it. *2 weeks later, December 14th: It smells airy, & still just barely there. But most I get is grey musk, or what I imagine to be that. This scent leaves ZERO impressions to others I.M.O. It is so sheer that it's not even there. Sometimes I smell something, but mostly I don't. & that really disappoints me. ?

    Black Satin Sheet Ghost

Mine finally arrived! This one spoke to me, as every note is a hit. & it truly is! Dark, & dirty black patchouli, yet clean, astringent-almost Clary sage. Then follows floral narcissus & opium tar, with a little herbal, green touch from the sage & mate. The mate & sage reminds me closely of a mate & sage smudge stick I bought from a vendor at a festival once. I can smell all the notes clearly in this. Has great length & throw. It is gonna be a favorite to wear for the coming winter. I'm really considering buying a second bottle soon for backup! **I received my second bottle. Smells the same, of course, but a little sweeter. Now to store it away to age. ❤️

    Hope / Auspicio

Coming back, my bottle has aged 3 years, just a dribble left. It smells of deep fragrant woody oudh, & fresh, powdery carnations. Yet again, so so simple, but fantastic, nonetheless. I've received many compliments on this one.

    Pale Student of Unhallowed Arts

Coming back to this, November 9, 2021. Wow this is like the perfect rosey cologne. I get overall pink impressions, as well as clean, polished, & suited up feelings. Posh! Also like withering, pale, & fragile florals being crumbled into a potion. It's pretty much indescribable for me. Some days I avoid this scent, but days like now it fully spirits me away. No words can explain how beautiful this "painting" is. I am very lucky to have obtained this as a free bottle with a large order made earlier this year. I love seeing this bottle is from 2011! This is the oldest BPAL I own. ?

    Absinthe

Received as an imp. It's clean, minty, anise, & hyssop is there. The faintest lemon, & the herbal note must be the wormwood. I want a bottle. Makes me think of a night out for drinks.
  24. Rane.

    Deep in Earth

Received as an imp. Earthy, smells of strong geraniums, & light Spanish moss. I get the yew too, but first note I experience is the graveyard dirt, which flies away fast. It replaced with the geranium. It's so strong, reminds me of when I bought my first bottle of it as an essential oil when I was a teen. I would probably buy this. Falls into the Zombi impression for me.

    The Buffalo Man

Received as a swap. Deep, dark brown oil. Smells vinegary, that's for truth. Oh disappointing, it's nasty right out the bottle. So I applied some & let it do its thing. It's turned musk, smoke-covered heavy fur, beastly animalistic for sure. But I don't like it. Comparisons to Coyote, what are you thinking?? This is not like it at all. I'm afraid this will be retired to the BPAL fail box that I don't think anyone will swap for either. What a shame.
