This is my perfect Yule scent. Its a surprisingly dry smell, cozy like when you've come in from the cold and finally feel dry and warm again. I actually thought there was pine or fir in this, but the green must be coming from the rosemary. Mostly get that fresh dry green smell, spiced apples, and either the vanilla or leather or both lending a soft warmth. Really I think you can pick out a little bit of everything, but still nicely blended. I love this one!

Also fresh from the mail, but purchased from another buyer. The caraway and rye are the most notable parts I think. It does smell like a loaf of bread, but I'm also getting a bit of unexpected sweetness. Nothing sugary or overly sweet, and not enough to push it out of the savory category, but it's there. I think it has to be from the butter. Was hoping for the rosemary to come through, but I'm not catching any of it. Also not coming off quite as warm as I'd hoped, this is the loaf once it's cooled. So a kind of fluffy rye, slightly sweetened caraway smell. Overall, a nice comforting, fun blend. Not my usual type that I go for, but I think it'll be fun to have some on hand.

I don't care that we aren't even through round one of the Tournament of Underdogs, this is my pick for the winner. I love this blend, it's one of my go to summer scents, though I love it year round. The main note on me is a soft, sweet prickly pear that lasts from the bottle to dry down. Sage and amber come in to add an herby, warm, full scent to it. There's a slight floral sweetness added to the fruit, but it never gets overly sweet. The other notes are present wrapping it all up, but I can't pick them out individually except maybe some of the poppy adding some density. This is finding shade and a refreshing bit of fruit on a hot, dry day. It is the first step out into a desert summer, when the heat still feels like a refreshing break from a chilly interior, before becoming worn out from the heat.

I really love this and I'm not sure I can do it justice. It starts very heavy on the jasmine wet and in the bottle. Quickly as it starts to dry, there's a round soft fruity sweetness of plum. Im not familiar enough with benzoin or orris absolute to know if I'm smelling those in addition, but there's definitely more going on here that blends so nicely and rounds it out to something deeper. I can maybe pick out some of the honeysuckle. This is somehow both dark and light, it smells like sitting alone in thought at dusk on a summer evening. It's calm, sweet, hopeful, but there's also something a little heavy weighing you down. There really is a pull to this, a longing.

Oblivion is dark and warm and both literally and figuratively green! I get a lot of wood and musk when it's wet with some of the labdanum coming through. There's something almost sweet when I first put it on, but I'm not even sure that's the right word. Whatever it is, I like it and I'm a little sad that that part fades as it dries. While it's drying, it gets a little funky and chemically and I was worried it was going to go south, but the funkiness passed quickly and never got too strong. The spiciness comes out more, though, which is also nice. Wood remains the main scent note that I can pick out. So I get a warm, dark, full bodied scent with bits of smokiness and spice and that faint bit of sweetness. This is really lovely and comforting!

I mostly agree with what's already been said. A chilled, clear green apple scent wet that is paired with musk and white florals on dry down. Very true to the description, and lovely. A nice throw, not too strong but I didn't have to lean in and sniff my wrist to smell it.

I got into BPAL because of weenies, especially darker blends and dead leaves, but man Ive needed some happy, cozy smells lately. This is wholesome, pure joy and love. I described it to my partner as the perfect cupcake. Vanilla frosting, creamy, with cake. Cotton candy isnt notable as such, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's adding to the sweetness. There have been some blends that I dont wear out because they feel too childlike for me. This, surprisingly, is not one. I didn't get any Green Lovebird, but I kind of wish I had. Curious what the two are like together.

Definitely starts strong strawberry candy and cream when wet. Strawberry pulp is accurate, ita syrupy. Not getting the usual marshmallow in any way that I recognize from other blends. After it dries down, the strawberry calms down rather quickly. It is still present but not as syrupy. The thickness of marshmallow starts to come out, but the marshmallow doesnt overpower the cream. This is a lovely, sweet, slightly sugary, creamy strawberry, everything I wanted ❤. Low throw, but lasting pretty well for me.

Wet, this came off as... artificial chocolate on me? Part of it is just how strong the honey is coming across paired with the other notes. I have mixed feelings on this one. As it dries down, the odd chocolate vibe I was getting calms down into something that is definitely creamy and sweet and brown, but not exactly sugary. I think I was expecting some bitterness from the coffee to balance out the sweet, but it doesn't have that. It's more like a decaf with lots of honey and cream. I agree with the comment about it being foodie and sweet, and would probably lean more toward coffee scents with some spice next time. Fairly pleasant and comforting, though, so I'll enjoy what I have.

When I first got this, it smelled like rotten apples in the bottle and when I first put it on. Then it settled into a pleasantly sweet, warm smell grounded by the earthy hay and oak with a hint of spices. But I couldn't get past that initial rotten apple smell. BUT I tried it again now that it's been a few months and I love it so much! It doesn't have that rotten smell anymore (when I put it on anyway, still kind of does in the bottle) and is instead bright and sweet and has become a bit creamier? I think because the amber is coming out more and playing with the honey. Apricot and apple are still the strongest but blend so smoothly with honey and what I think is the amber and oak that ground it. I'm not familiar enough with chrysanthemum to know if it shows up. It is definitely still a fall scent, but Ill probably wear it in the spring, too, because of the apricot and slight creaminess. I smile every time I smell it. Bottom line, after trying it again I bought more.

I came here to ask about two, and one of them (Jungle) had some responses throughout this thread already, but does anyone have suggestions for something that smells like Lush's Sleepy soap? I had never tried their products until I got those two this Christmas and I love them. I've been on a lavender kick lately and I know BPAL has a number of lavender blends, but I struggle breaking down the particulars of a smell based on descriptions. Any help? Edit to add: I just realized twilight is = to sleepy so the comment two up has one solution! Any others? Update: Frostbitten TKO is a perfect fit for Sleepy/Twilight! Love it!!

Oh my goodness I love this so much. I dont like straight floral scents, so this is the mix I've been dreaming of. Its wonderful from the bottle to dry down, definitely still a beautiful floral but warm and sweet with beeswax, honey, and amber, and grounded with the balsam giving it a nice herby undertone. I dont get much apple peel but i do think its present in the sweetness. As for the fig and champa, I'm not good at picking out either of those scents. I can't say enough how much I love this one!

In the bottle- wonderful mixture of all the scent notes, strong on cedar but sweet and herby, too Wet- dusty cedar and nothing else Dry- a crisper sweeter cedar but... still just cedar. I'm really disappointed in this one because it smells so good in the bottle and I bought it really hoping the fig would come out. By the end of the day, the scents were finally balanced, but it fades so much by that point that you can barely smell it. Really hoping some age will bring it to the balanced scent I love in the bottle.

Is there anything similar to Bath and Body Works "A Thousand Wishes" (Pink Prosecco, Sparkling Quince, Crystal Peonies, Gilded Amber, Amaretto Crème)?

I am pleasantly surprised. I didn't think I would like it and I thought I didn't like mint, but this is making me question that! I got this as a frimp when I bought Resistance and Theoi Nomioi, and funny enough when I first smelled it I recognized the bourbon from Resistance and what must be the bit of mint/snow in Theoi Nomioi. As others have said, the mint in this is herby. It is quickly followed and complimented by the sugar and as it dries down I get more of a smoky bourbon. It does get a little powdery on me, but not much. I expected the bourbon/mint combo to come across a lot more boozy or alcohol-y, but it is not at all on me. Instead it is warm, kind of bright, kind of sweet, and a happy surprise! I don't know that I like it enough to buy a full size, but I will definitely enjoy this imp. EDIT: I spoke too soon. About an hour later it's turned into a boozy mint and lost the herby mint and smoky bourbon

I don't have an answer, but would be interested in knowing as well since that one comes up a lot!

A revival as I anticipate my first possible Yule purchase(s)! I'm from the Chicago area and looking for something that reminds me of dusk on a chilly snowy day in the middle of winter, but isnt piney (I'm from the suburbs, no woods!) or super minty. I do want a bit of sharp/chilly air type smell, though. I know Snowflakes Are Delicious is inspired by snow in Chicago, but I don't feel like coconut is fitting. I'm new to BPAL and havent tried anything with a snow note and I'm not really sure what BPAL snow will smell like. Any recommendations?
