    The Peacock Queen

As others have noted, this is two things: 1) A very "old school" rose perfume - reminds me of when I actually was gifted a bottle of rose oil, aka "rose butter" a zillion years ago that was hand-pressed and 2) REALLY nails the "expensive, Valentine's Day top-tier florist super red roses" thing. You know that scene in American Beauty where the girl is just laying naked in a room full of rose petals, as more are showered upon her? Like THAT. Perfect in what it is.

    Sugar Cookie Snake Oil

As you may have figured out, anything with Snake Oil listed is an instabuy for me now. Reached for this today and it did not disappoint. In the bottle: Nice sweet blast of Sugar Cookie; getting that lovely cookie dough thing with a hint of spice and something...deeper....beneath the surface. On, wet: A hot blast of holiday spice comes forth! I hear what a lot of folks are saying RE a total clove bomb; I am getting cloves and cinnamon, which rushes over the initial tide of raw sugar. Dries down to a VERY spicy warm cookie thing with whiffs of Snake Oil in the background. Reminds me a lot of Fire HG or Clove Cig (which I would layer this with in a second). I think it's the cloves. I love it on me, but if you amp cloves and don't like it, give this one a pass.

    Sugar Plum Snow White

This is my first experience with the Lab's Sugar Plum note; I got a bunch from this year and took a break from what I'll call "heavy gourmands" today. LOVE THIS. In the bottle: Getting a clean, sweet floral but extra--Snow White in a purple sequin dress. On, wet: This is SO well blended. Getting that veil of fresh, ultra ripe black plum notes that just floats along with the Snow White. During the drydown, it is almost a total dead ringer for a holiday scent that a Certain Large Chain put out about 20 years ago. Lots of "sparkle" to this during drydown, it always stays light and "happy." Several hour later, I'm left with a sort of pink floral skin musk with the tiniest hit of a gentle wood note in the background. VERY wearable--low throw, long interesting wear and drydown. If you love Snow White you will ADORE this. Office friendly, date friendly, etc.

    Deep Fried Gingerbread

Count me in as one of the folks whom at first got Industrial Fry Grease in the bottle on this one. As in dead ringer for Crisco that's been used for frying sweets and then cooled, with a bowl full of the ends of raw gingerbread dough in the background. On, wet it starts to behave itself and dries down fairly quickly on me to not a gingerbread cookie per se, but almost like the sweet style soft gingerbread quick bread/coffee cake that's featured in some older American cookbooks and a few Scandinavian ones. The fry note is gone and I'm left with this interesting gingerbread sponge cake. It's not terribly exciting by itself, but I think it will become a favorite layering thing with other cookie/cake/holiday gourmands, even Weenies. I'm also seeing this as sort of the Gingerbread cousin to the Pancakes series from a while ago. Today I layered it up with Samhain Pyre HG and it's actually an AMAZING "Fall Festival in a bottle" effect. OTOH if you tend to amp the "fried/Crisco" note, then step away from this one.

    Horses

Oh my oh my oh my. This is like wearing a piece of the sun. It's completely freezing here in NYC, and I just unpacked my Yules/Winter 2021 after giving them a wee rest, and I needed this to get motivated to leave my apartment today. This is NOT a gourmand honey, nor is the "amber" a traditional amber; I think of it as if an actual piece of gemstone amber was being lit from within by golden fire. The "fire" note here isn't literal fire either; it's more of a mood! Getting a bit of beeswax in with the honey, something that is ALMOST perfume vanilla or citrus but not quite. This is warm golden-orange holy flame in a bottle. LOVE IT.

    Chaos Theory Hair Gloss

Let me add that I also have an ancient bottle that I got on a private sale--CT 92. This one is a kind of dry, white floral thing -- getting lots of white flower including maybe some narcissus funk but also white rose, with a hit of some kind of white floral skin musk to tone it all down. Super nice.

    Party Tricks Hair Gloss

This one is so much fun, and a must-have if you like the Lab's strawberry note. Getting strawberry candy as the main note, tamed by the milky notes and chypre. It sounds like it would be heavy, but in fact it's light and reminds me of a more sophisticated version of a "kid perfume." I wish I had bought another bottle of this because I am layering ALL the Strawberry Things with this one.

    Beholder Optician

On me this is an all-day high-end strawberry candy, like the expensive German candies that have the semi-liquid filling and come wrapped up like little strawberries; then again, that's how the Lab's strawberry note reads on me. In the bottle, it's fresh strawberries with a mere hint of eucalyptus. On, wet, it sweetens up substantially on my skin into that clear strawberry candy note,. On drydown I get a slight whiff/afterthought of what could be a clear skin musk, but this one is all about the strawberries front and center. Wore this by itself yesterday, and layered it with Party Tricks HG for extra strawberry fun today. Really FUN is the best way I can describe both the scent on its own and the combo.

    Skeletons Dancing to a Tune

This one played out very differently than I thought it would. I was expecting a sort of dry, hot, red sandalwood thing. Instead, here's what I got: In the bottle: A blast of REALLY sweet hot cinnamon, like biting into a fresh cinnamon stick fresh from a good spice vendor, and a tiny bit of another spice--clove husk? On, wet: Wow, the hot cinnamon REALLY picks up, along with a dry sharp note of real red pepper, as in fresh cut small hot red peppers. Stays really hot and dry for a long time; really struggling to find either the sandalwood or amber in it, or even the musk for that matter. The "blood musk" is a faintly metallic bend on the hot red notes in this blend, and it stays front and center. Only after a few hours do I get the beginnings of a sandalwood note, which is in fact a gentle white sandalwood, like one of the fancy sandalwood fans from an Asian market or similar (ie not incensey or soapy). As the cinnamon dies down a bit, I get a bit of sweetness almost like a very light skin musk (that must be the amber). Zero gourmand vibe on this oddly enough. This really is a spice front and center blend. Medium throw and wear.

    Lavender Lightning

Super bright, fresh, herbal cut lavender with a blast of clean aldehyde/rain!

    Traditional Sheet Ghost

When I first put this on, all I got was vanilla-lemon marshmallow. Then, as time went on, the nice clean cotton note started to step up. A few hours later, this has developed into a very VERY close-to-the-skin, clean, faintly sweet and citrussy cotton candy thing with clean cotton notes. A very good pick where you want your perfume to whisper, not shout. I was hoping for a mostly clean cotton thing, but this is also pretty good and still a super clean scent.

    Winter Sunset

Wore this for the first time since getting it last year. Absolutely gorgeous. Starts with a strong citrus/leaves note but eventually dries down to a sort of woody soft skin musk/amber.

    Razor Blade Candy Apple

This one is interesting. Fresh apple in the bottle, but gives way to some kind of uncanny valley between the scent of red candy apple dip (just the red sugar part) and a red apple candle from an upscale retailer, with a hint of something almost resinous/cough syrupy to it but not in a bad way if that makes any sense? Wore it as-is yesterday, then in the PM layered with SilkyBat which actually worked out really well and added some roundness to things.

    Death Is Death

Wore this yesterday layered with an old Weenie HG, and by itself the day before yesterday. This is the light, dry white sandalwood blend that you are looking for, especially if you want something that doesn't amp like crazy. Dries down to a sort of gorgeous sandalwood skin musk on me.

    Stitched Together

Somehow this reminds me of some kind of super high-end chocolate mint marshmallow mochi taffy, if it was sold in some kind of outrageously chi-chi boutique where each piece costs $3 and is wrapped in hand-made foil-stamped paper. On me, this dries down to a really smooth creamy minty sugary thing with hints of chocolate. This layers really well with anything with a mint, peppermint, marshmallow, or chocolate notes.

    Signum Crucis

I got this one because I LOVE the Lab's mushroom note and I also usually love their leather note. This one played out a little weird on me at first but turned out well in the end. In the bottle: VERY bottle-tight; getting a hint of white roses and a bit of leather and a teeny bit of the mushroom note. On, wet: Blargh. Once in a very rare while the Lab's leather note goes to black vinyl on me instead of leather, and this one did. Got an overwhelmingly sickly-sweet blast of cheap fake black leather vinyl. This persisted for some time, until the rose notes started to peek out. The rose note, btw, is a sort of freshly-snapped wild white rose flower and branch. After a few hours, everything settled down and I was left with a dry, almost powdery smooth black leather balanced with greenish fresh white rose and a pops of earthy fresh loamy mushroom. Maybe the powder/dust that I'm getting is how the mushroom note plays out with the ambrette on this one? Starts out very aggressive but then on drydown stays very close to the skin, with a long wear length but low throw. A keeper if you like the mushroom note but be careful if you have any issues with the Lab's black leather.

Fuzzy Peach Sweater and A Mug of London Fog

Have to agree with many here that I am getting zero "London Fog Tea Thing from Morebux" here...no milk really but here is what I DO get: In the bottle: Peach pulp galore, with some sugar, and maybe a bit of peach sour candy thingy? On, wet: Peach sour candies with white tea and maybe some fresh peach nectar? Also the Lab's "sweater" note steps up; definitely getting "fuzzy sweater" here in the most abstract way. Drydown: LONG drydown and morph; after several hours I get peach black tea, warm sweater, and a teeny hit of cream. Odd that I am not getting any of the bergamot which should have been there for the London Fog. Give this one a chance and let it stay on a LONG time to morph out. On me, very little throw but goes through a long morph process

    Every Day is Halloween

Oh wow. oh wow, is this gorgeous. This smells like a super expensive department store perfume in some ways; something that Thierry Mugler would do as a one-off. In the bottle: A sort of sweet non-gourmand sweet spicy...thing? Not like pumpkin nor pumpkin spice nor a floral? On, wet: Getting a warm almost caramel with a hint of spice and the sandalwood--a rich, deep, yet not too powerful warm red/orange sandalwood starts to make itself known. Drydown: Getting almost a cashmere-like warm fuzzy blanket of sandalwood and spicy, almost peppery warm pumpkin flesh. Soooo nice. May need a backup. This is SO SO SO cozy and easy to wear. I could also see this being a great layering item. EDIT: I know what this reminds me of. SilkyBat but with more spice and some pumpkin and a bit of a cashmere note.

    Pyramid of Skulls

I blind bought this because I LOVE sandalwood. I was thinking of the deep, heady sandalwood that one gets from the Mysore line of sandalwood products (soap, incense, etc). This is completely different from that--I guess you would call it a white sandalwood. In the bottle: Almost a dusty very VERY VERY dry, VERY light sandalwood, with an almost floral pop of sweet pipe tobacco. On, wet: Oddly enough, the pipe tobacco jumps to the front and is almost boozy on. Drydown: This just melts into my skin and stays VERY close to the skin on me. It's a very very dry, light, subtle, powdery sandalwood skin musk on me. I mean, I showered and went very early this AM to my annual Ob-Gyn exam and when I took my shirt off -- usually an occasion that amps whatever I am wearing -- I could hardly smell it; doctor confirmed the almost-not-there aspect of it on me. Even after re-applying when I got home, I am only getting a little bit of depth to the different sandalwoods. So, if you are afraid of sandalwood or normally amp red sandalwoods, this gentle white sandalwood blend is for you. I could see this as a great way to give backbone to a rose blend or something similar. Also dying to layer this with some of my cocoa blends. EDIT:: Next day -- got up late, threw on yesterday's clothes, some more Pyramid of Skulls, and layered on some Thorns Clove Cigarette to punch it up a little bit. DIVINE combo! The clove elevates the sweet note and amps up the sandalwood a bit.

    PSL: Pumpkin Snake Latte

OK, I have a habit that when something is listed as "Snake" or "Frostbitten" I always make sure that I have the original scent also to compare. So, now, I MUST order Rite of Passage from the Liliths now that I have this. In the bottle: Sweet vanilla syrup and a bit of powdery sweetness as well. On, wet: That notorious Pumpkin Spice blend picks up, with a faint coffee note in the background. Coffee note quickly opens up more and brings some more balance to things. Getting tiny hits of Snake Oil in the background as well. Also getting a wee whiff of a kind of clovey musk--maybe the snake oil playing with the PS notes? Drydown: This winds up settling down very close to the skin and on me, oddly enough, it's a "cool" rather than a "warm" scent. Getting sort of a creamy vanilla skin musk with a faint pumpkin spice thing and a hint of vanilla sugar going on after a few hours of wear. Any coffee notes have melted into the Snake Oily bit and are almost more of a coffee toffee, but again, only very faint. This is one case where the components are all really tightly locked together and no one note really pops out in the end result. Can't wait to compare it to standalone Rite Of Passage, which is in my cart and ready to go!

    Cleaning House

This is a super-bracing, clean, headcleaning citrus and herb blast. Think the freshest new soap at the world's cleanest spa, with pots of verbena and mini lime trees all over the place. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Really a head-clarifier. Wore solo yesterday during a very long, emotionally difficult day helping Mom over the weekend (stage IV cancer, it's in the countdown phase); I made it through the day. Today I was bushed so I woke up late, threw on yesterday's clothes, and layered more of this with some vintage SilkyBat, which adds a sort of gentle sweetness to the blend; it feels like a hug from someone in a very clean fresh sweater...

    Harvest Moon 2019

Pulled this one out for trip out to Mom for Thanksgiving. On me this reads as a gorgeous mulled wine with a cloud of smoky sweet tobacco.

    Justice for Mary

Was digging through my boxen and finally trying this one! Super nice for fans of non-sweet/herby citrus notes. In the bottle: A vigorous blast of neroli and verbena. On, wet: Something almost like fresh lemon rind joins the party; still a very citrus forward blend. The lemon note when wet is very strong. On drydown, a tiny bit of the orange blossom comes into play. Alas, like many citrus-centric things on me, this doesn't last as long as I would like it to. However, it IS super fresh and very office/party/crowd friendly.

    Aries 2016

Wore this by itself yesterday and with Thorns Clove Cigarette layered on today. On its own, this is a really slow-to-develop, slowly morphing amazing red musk with spice and a gentle sweet incense note from the dragon's blood. This reminds me so much of Fire HG! To amp the heat even more, layered it with Thorns Clove Cigarette today and now it's almost like a perfume version of Fire HG.
