    F5

This is similar to Embalming Fluid, as other reviewers have said. In fact, F5 includes all (roughly) the ingredients of EF: white musk, aloe, green tea, and lemon (verbena in F5). Essentially, it's a base of EF with added lime, light mint, and seaspray. Good idea, Beth. I'm currently wearing both, and I think I love them equally. Wet, EF is much stronger than F5, but they even up after a couple of hours. They are both the coolest (temp, not Dude) citrus blends I've found. In F5, I can still smell EF's lemon and tea. They're not overwhelmed by lime and mint, but a nice balance of all (and I'm not a big fan of mint). Definitely more complex than EF. On drydown, the seaspray makes its appearance as a slight saltiness. I'm thrilled to have found this, the lime blend I've been searching for. And although supplies will eventually run out, I'll still be able to get Embalming Fluid as a close substitute.

    PURPLE!

Lady MacBeth, Morgause, and Wanda all seem reddish plum-purple to me.

    Demeter's Funeral Home

I do know what you mean about Languor, I think. There's a current thread about florist's shop scents that might be just what you're looking for, especially since you said "misted". People have suggested lots of variations on a room full of flowers. Of your list, I've only tried House of Night (too evergreeny) and Eternal, which had too much gardenia for me but might be what you're looking for. No dampness, though. I'd look through all the collections if I were you, not just Ars Moriendi, if you haven't already. Also, I find that "stems and leaves" and similar things (ivy, green grass) can make a real difference in the freshness of a floral. You might want to search the Lab site for "stems", "ivy", etc. and see what floral oils you get. Let us know if you find something. Most of your list is on my wishlist, and I'd love to hear other suggestions!

    Demeter's Funeral Home

Would you describe Funeral Home as light or heady? Is it green from the stems? Musty from the "oriental carpet"? It sounds interesting. House of Night has quite a bit of evergreen in it, so it probably won't compare.

Walk into a florist's shop, inhale deeply...

Egad, I didn't list the scent! Ulalume.

Walk into a florist's shop, inhale deeply...

You wouldn't think it from the description (starry white lilies, cypress, oak, a touch of dried leaves, and the faintest aquatic note), but this smells exactly like a florist's to me. It's a medium floral, not quite light and not quite heady, plus the dampness, earth, and slight decay scents you get in a florist's. ETA: Ulalume There's also Pontarlier, which was close at first but went powdery on me. Have you tried Zombi? Nothing like a florist's, but a lovely musty rose.

    Salty scents?

Oh, do try Caliban, salty green aquatic. It has "bittersweet wine", but I didn't get any.
  8. Here's a belated reply... Gibbous Moon: cucumber, white ginger, moonflower, madonna lily, hyacinth, Irish moss, orris. So you can compare my sniffs, I got cucumber bitter green, lily/hyacinth floral, and moss/orris earthy. There are two LEs and two GCs you might want to try. I wouldn't say they're similar enough to buy a bottle unsniffed, though. Singing Moon (grave grass, meadowsweet, marsh hellebore, rock sea-lavender, Irish Lady's-tresses, thistle, wood bitter-vetch, autumn fires) - Not cucumber, but a slightly bitter green floral. Ghastly Garden, still available until 11/15 (oleander, water hemlock, sugared nectar, putrefying wet greenery, sap, rosary peas, withered roses, nightshade berries) - Another green floral, slightly tart despite the sugared nectar. There's just the lightest fruit note when dry. Orpheus, Salon (green mandarin, citrus peel, neroli, narcissus, stephanotis, blue lavender, crushed green stems, willow branch, cedar, benzoin, pale musk) - Tart, slightly green floral. I'd say the florals in this are the most similar to Gibbous Moon of these four suggestions, but it's less green. Schrodinger's Cat (tangerine, pink grapefruit, sugared lime, chocolate, peppermint, lavender, oakmoss, zdravetz) - OK, I would not call this "similar", but you might like it as an inexpensive substitute. It's not green, but quite citrusy so it's still a cool scent (cool-smelling not Cool, dude). The lavender and peppermint blend into an herby floral, not as heady as Gibbous Moon. The moss and zdravetz give it a similar earthiness. And when it dries, there's just a hint of chocolate, not sweet or foody.

    The Atrocious Attic

Wet on skin, it's a sweet creamy floral. The violet note stands out for me, which is great. No sandalwood and no strong lavender (which I usually notice). Dry, the distinct violet fades and I'm left with a sweet well-blended floral. Sweet, but not heady. And the lavender doesn't turn powdery like it sometimes does. Overall, if you like sweet florals, this is nice. There's no strong rose or lavender, so don't let those keep you away if you normally avoid them. If you're looking for violet, though, you should probably go elsewhere.

    The Perilous Parlor

A memory of pleasure passed. A ghostly rendezvous, delight beyond death. Faint echoes of laughter and the distorted music of a harp drift by, along with the scent of soft white pear and sweet vanilla. Geez, I'm going to be what, the second negative review? I agree that it's a lovely sweet vanilla pear, not like any of the other pears I've tried. But on me, it was very light, even though I applied heavily, and only lasted about an hour. After that, it was just detectable if I attached my nose to my wrist. No waft at all. *sigh* I couldn't possibly justify a bottle. Since other reviewers have also said it's light, I'd suggest trying an imp first before getting a bottle if you have trouble with scents disappearing on you.

    Hamadryad

In the bottle: Toothpaste. A nice-smelling toothpaste, like Tom's of Maine, but really strong. Not particularly medicinal or astringent to me. On my skin, from wet to dry, it's consistently wintergreen. More like the actual wintergreen plant (which I've smelled) than toothpaste, in that there's a faint leafy/twiggy note. Very refreshing, but I'd rather chew it than wear it.
