    So Judgey Hair Gloss

A splash of gin, bitter lemon, and spiky juniper berries. One of the friends I attended DragonCon with ended up buying a bottle of this for the name alone and I was pressured into trying it for comparison. (she never got around to trying it with me, though) I am not a fan of lemon, but this in the bottle was really pretty. Kind of a syrupy sweet, clean, sparkling citrus blend on first sniff. I usually do about 4 squirts into my bleached, very short hair but only did 2 of this because I was scared of the lemon note making me nauseous. It went in fine, a very crisp scent. For only a few squirts this had great throw, the fizzy sweetness was at the front. What I assumed was the gin and juniper. There was a green edge to it, more piney than leafy/grassy. Then the lemon started to creep up... It wasn't an unpleasant lemon at all, but edged on more than I could bear. It wasn't very bitter to me, and thankfully not like lemon scented cleaner. It was crisp and light. I didn't get a boozy feel or scent through the wear, but the gin was there. I didn't fall in love with this but I enjoyed wearing it. I especially enjoyed it at the end of the day when it was super light and breezy in my hair. I smelled very clean even though I had been sweating all day at the con. It almost reminded me of dryer sheets at that point, but not at all in a bad way. By the next morning before my shower it was faintly there as a tiny whiff of piney juniper berries.

    Dragon Smooch

The notes of this were too good to pass up and a friend was gracious to go back and buy one for us to share! In the bottle it was a very sweet, powdery mint. Immediately upon applying this to my skin, said friend asked from across the room what smelled of baby powder. Oh boy... It went to straight powder on me. Not a light powder, this was REALLY strong.. Like someone threw baby powder into my face. I was kind of shocked by this, the mint was way in the background and the rest was powder. No peach or marshmallowy goodness. It stayed like this on me through nearly the entire wear. I almost washed it off. A few hours later it had dissipated and the remaining whiff of scent was a powdery peach. A second try with a lighter hand and it was still all slightly minty baby powder. On the friend, it wasn't baby powder. It was all minty peach. There was a bit of vanilla and sweetness to it as well. She said it could have been sweeter but was really refreshing. Lucky her! Needless to say, she got to keep the entire bottle.

    Dragon with a Jaunty Cap

This was the DragonCon scent for me! I knew it as soon as the line up was posted. Red Musk and Strawberry?? Best combination I have ever placed onto my skin since discovering my love for red musk. I'm not familiar with chypre but from what I've experienced with it I assumed this would brighten the blend. In the bottle, this smells of strawberry juice. It has a bit of a green note grit or 'texture' to it (not in a bad way) that gives it a true strawberry feel. This could be the chypre, but it's very light. Typically Bpal's strawberry note gets gobbled up on my skin if there's not something supporting it. In this case the red musk is there to help it along like in other blends I have. The red musk would typically amp on my skin but this isn't heavy at all. It's a very refreshing play on a red musk and strawberry combo. This is absolutely gorgeous and definitely going to be a go-to for me for a long time. It's a more refreshing red musk blend, where as a few of my favorites can be a bit strong. It has great wear length, the strawberry sticks around a lot longer than usual on my skin too. Throw is great! I got a few compliments on it in the office. Thanks for yet another favorite red musk blend!

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I have a friend that I just got into bpal a few weeks ago asking if there is a perfume similar to the Bath & Body Works American Girl LE perfume, Truly Me? The star bottle if anyone remembers! The notes are: vibrant blend of fresh gardenia, sparkling pear, and sweet jasmine.

    Job Interview Recommendations

Currently I have one job and need more money, so I applied to GameStop. If they call me in for an interview (I hope!) I think i'm going to wear Technical Boy. It's soft and unassuming and suits the atmosphere lol

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Lamia sounds amazing! It sounds up my ally so I'll have to give it a try! Thanks Lizzie! By heat I do mean like pepper/spice and fire, but steamy works as well!

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Any beachy, tropical scents that aren't too aquatic? Something with heat?

The Moon Reflected in Every Rice Paddy Hair Gloss

This is so perfect it's almost hard for me to describe. Fresh, powdery, vanillic? The notes seem simple but this is anything but. It's just perfect, I have to say that again and again. So light and soft. Just when you start thinking you cant smell it, you turn your head and get a nice whiff. Not overpowering or overly sweet, but not so light that it disappears. I have never gotten so many compliments from a hair gloss before. I don't think 1 bottle is enough.

    Leather

Can anyone compare the leather in Riding crop to the leathers in Dead Leaves, Raw Leather, Bourbon Vanilla, and Clove and/or Mutant Hot Rodders From Hell High?

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Slyvanestra - I vaguely remember my cousin having the prettiest bottles of the Amy Brown Faery perfumes! That's a throw back I wasn't expecting today. I don't rememebr Fire dance specifically but if you're looking to add some heat to it I would totally try to layer it with Bengal! (skin musk with honey, peppers, clove, cinnamon bark and ginger) Also! To anyone that may be looking: Bathing in Cold Water Atmosphere Spray smells very similar Juicy Couture by Juicy Couture. They both have a gorgeous, strong, musky Tunerose note! Side by side there is an obvious difference as the wisteria in Bathing In Cold Water is prominent and Juicy Couture has a bit of sweetness to it. Otherwise they are pretty much sisters!

    Peppermint Cream Cupcake

I was really taken by surprise by this. The peppermint is pretty strong at first and had a slight cooling sensation when applied. Nothing burny or stingy on my sensitive skin, though! Sometimes the lab's vanilla and cake notes go a bit plastic or waxy on me. This one did that immediately and stayed that way for about the first hour. It's not awful, it's just not what I'd like cake or vanilla to smell like. The peppermint calmed down after it a few minutes but remained there. This is very sweet, but not in a cloying or headachey way for me. After that first hour it mellowed out to something absolutely decadent. It was a foody delight! Super duper smooth and creamy dreamy. The vanilla and peppermint were at the front, but the cake note was in the back reminding you it was definitely a cupcake. I see the similarity to some of the Lick it perfumes but it does have a very obvious cake note. It was realistic enough to make me crave it! What really got me was how long this lasted. I don't usually get a lot of wear time from these sort of scents and this not only powered through my work day with one application, I could still clearly smell it the next morning. Amazing throw and wear time! Big winner for me!

    Crumpled Wrapping Paper

This is very true to the name. Paper and ink. It's spot on the smell of the after math of Christmas morning when you're surrounded by loads of wrapping paper. It is very reminiscent of The Manuscript on me. Though in the vial it smells similar to cheese cloth ghosts it is a bit heavier and has a strong inky note. I enjoyed this one but it didn't have great longevity or throw on me. I'll definitely look forward to layering this with other oils!
  13. ^thanks so much! I feel so dumb. I've posted here before and must have forgotten about this thread! I could not find it anywhere when I was on mobile! In topic: I've fallen in absolute love with Portrait of a Young woman with Unicorn. Are there any perfume oils similar to it? Notes: Vanilla crepe de chine, ruby musk, golden amber, frankincense, honeyed saffron, smoked cardamom, sweet orange, star anise, and bronze fennel. I love it but really, I don't know what exactly it is about this (aside from the red musk, which I already love) but it has become a solid favorite for me. I suspect it's the Vanilla crepe de chine note?
  14. Is there a hair gloss to perfume thread out there? I am having trouble searching and sifting on mobile.

I want a BPAL that smells like Bath & Body Works...

I am suddenly enamored with the foaming hand soap Frosted Coconut Snowball. I'm sort of shocked by the notes it has on the site because I smell coconut in it but it's not listed? Notes on website: The perfect wintry treat of vanilla spun sugar, snowy jasmine & winter white amber. I smell zero jasmine in it, but it is just handsoap. Anything like that? (I have elegba and love it but hoping for something a little creamier and brighter)

    Anything laundryish?

Probably strange but I actually adore Sherlock because it comes off as a fresh and clean coat or blanket to me? It smells like clean, fuzzy linens to me! It could just be what my skin does to it, though. I just feel really clean and like I'm wrapped in the best blanket when I wear it!
  17. Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I've had a few of these on my wishlist for a while but now I absolutely have to try them! I'll hunt down decants on here for Yurei, Crawdad dream, and FBT later. For now Lady Una (HONEY MUSK!), and The East have sprung into my cart lol I actually had an imp of Baobhan Sith without realizing it and I'm going to have to test this! I love apple blossom and it's the strongest note in this for me! I'm hoping the grapefruit will come out once I skin test it! Also had an imp of the Apothecary and I'm not sure what it was but it just smelled like a ginger salad to me. Greens, chopped ginger, herbs and fig. No tea came through for me, sadly. The persimmon note in Aizen myoo is labeled as Kaki, the Japanese variety. It is absolutely glorious! I have a bottle of Miss Spink and Miss Forcible's Tea Leaves and while not a straight black tea single note (it smells familiar, like a tea I have had but I can't place it), this could be an amazing layering perfume. I may layer it with the pomegranate heavy perfumes I have to see if I can get what I'm looking for! ETA: Dead Leaves, Honeyed Patchouli, Black Tea, Sweet Oudh, and Sandalwood Hair Gloss smells like I've poured a glass of sweet tea over my head and it's glorious
  18. Are there any Persimmon + Tea combinations? Aizen Myoo is one of my favorites already, but persimmon tea is definitely one of my favorites teas! Smell wise especially. Persimmon Tea or Pomegranate Tea? Tart fruits in general with a tea note.
  19. I didn't even think to compare The Lady in Black and Mrs Valentine. There is quite the similarity! Though my bottle of Mrs. Valentine is a bit more powdery (kind of 'old lady' like) than The Lady in Black, which is sweeter.

Dead Leaves, Raw Leather, Bourbon Vanilla, and Clove

This is the biggest winner for me this year, there were SO MANY that I loved but this one won over all! When first applied wet, it's strongly just LEATHER on me. It's extremely similar to the shiny, rugged, black leathers in Rogue and Mutant Hot Rodders (which is my favorite!) but not quite as sharp nor quite like shoving your nose into a new leather seat or heavy leather armor. It's a bit softer, but still very strong. After melding with my skin the dead leaves and bourbon vanilla come to the front and smooth things out. The dead leaves note is very faint in this for me. It's definitely there in it's dirty, peppery glory, but not as sharp as it is in the other blends. The clove is always in the background making things deliciously spicy. I will forever love the clove + leather combo I see in a lot of men's colognes and this is definitely reminiscent of that! This is VERY masculine at first. After things have smoothed out and the leather fades a bit, I would say this is pretty unisex. Not everyone will agree, but that bourbon vanilla is making it very smooth and sweet on me. Throw and longevity are amazing. When wet the leather leaps out at others and I have to wonder if they think I'm wearing some sort of leather bdsm harness under my clothing lol Once that fades, it's super smooth and blended and just really great. I still smell it on me the next day when I wake up and shower! (leather usually clings to my skin, though) Over all, a new scent I can't wait to slather!

Campfires, bonfires, fireplaces, burning wood and leaves...

Bonfire SN is a really sharp autumn bon fire scent (of course!) It has some phenomenal throw, too! There's also an atmosphere spray for it that I love spraying on my hoodies to give them that cozy scent that lingers on your clothes after a bonfire! Balefire is about the same, but it has a sweeter edge to it. (not quite like Samhain but like a burning Samhain? I guess?) October is that perfect, crisp autumn air with smoke in the background. I've only tried a wee sniffy of bonfire night and my first thought was bonfires and burnt coffee(the treacle.) It smelled exactly like camping in autumn to me: Waking up in a cold tent to the smell of your fire smoking and rekindling it to make a pot of coffee and breakfast.

Portrait of a Young Woman with Unicorn Hair Gloss

When I first got my decant of this I was a bit thrown off by a very prominent 'sweet orange' and underlying waxy(?) scent. I'm not big on citrus (which is a lie, I'm just extremely picky over citrus scents) but this isn't so bad after a while. That beginning stage is really not jiving with me, it makes my head swim a bit and I'm wondering if it's the amber doing this to the orange note? I'm not a huge fan of amber as it smells really heavy on me. All that said, once the beginning stages smooth out... THIS IS SO GOOD. JUST SO SO SO GOOD. I think it's the vanilla crepe de chine that is really making me fall in love with it. It smells exactly how the fabric feels. So smooth, soft, creamy, and gentle. Something about the vanilla smelling like a silky scarf is making me feel very cozy! I love honeyed anything and this is a delicious honey spiced with saffron. There is an overall, delicious smokiness from the cardamom! They both smell down right decadent together. As always, red musks always cling at the very end stages on me. It's not as prominent as it would be on my skin but damn this is a really yummy red musk. It coupled with the vanilla crepe de chine is blowing my mind! I am not a huge fan of frankincense, so I'm happy to say I don't pick any up on me and the amber doesn't seem to return. The sweet orange note is pretty much always there in the back but it mellows out and blends well into everything. Over all this is going to be a definite bottle. I can only hope aging doesn't bring out the amber (don't shoot me!), but I can definitely endure the first few minutes for all day deliciousness. Great wear time and throw!

    Evening Cicadas and Red Peppers

I really just have to scream to the heavens how much I LOVE this scent. It feels like the scent I've been looking for all my life! It's me, this scent is me in a bottle and I almost cried when I first wore it! I have scoured the forums for a scent that smells like vegetables, as I love the smells of freshly chopped peppers and squash. This is in this scent. I smell the vegetal musk of freshly cut, spicy, red peppers. It might be the camellia, but it has a very perfumey quality that keeps it from reminding me of food. It reminds me of a kitchen (my kitchen lol) but it's not so vegetal that it's foody. The red leaves give this some warmth and earhtiness, their color with the red peppers definitely make me see this as a 'red' scent. The 'snow limned branches' really don't come out for me. Maybe in the dry down there is a hint of forest in this, but otherwise no wood. The snow might be the freshness this has while wet but it doesn't make this cold. Overall this is just a delightful, spicy, musky, red scent. This is hands down my number one now.

    Soothing Nightmares & Night Terrors

I searched through existing posts regarding dreams, but none of them helped me to the extent I needed. I have a very dear friend going through a stressful time. She experiences horrible nightmares often, but recently they have turned into vivid, gorey night terrors that she wakes up from screaming and/or crying. I want to help her as much as I can and want to get her a few scents. She is a bit picky, though. As far as I know she doesn't mind lavender, so I looked into TKO atmosphere spray but it seems pretty covetted right now. I would love to get her an atmosphere spray, but a perfume oil would be fine as well. Her favorite scent is Elegba and she loves vanilla. I don't think she likes almond or anything too heavily spiced or 'dirty.'

    BPAL in the Hospital

First, I'm so sorry you're going through this. Sending all of the good vibes and wishes for your recovery and wellness. I was hit with some troubling medical news not long ago and have been in and out of hospitals, doctors offices, etc. as well. My most recent surgery I wore Alan McMichael because to me it just smelled like the warmest hug. I was really worried about making a scent unwearable due to the memory but it luckily didn't seem to do that to me. I didn't wear him while recovering, but to smell a little better and comforted I wore an extremely familiar scent. I've had Lucy's Kiss from the very beginning of falling in love with bpal so I wore her. I am a little reminded of the hospital when I wear her now, but there are so many previous memories before the hospital that I'm beginning to get past it. The whole thing actually stigmatized lemon scents for me, though (long story). I don't know when I'll get over that. I would go through your scents as Soupy suggested. Find the blends that make you feel brave, that remind you of happy memories, or comfort you the most. I guess that's a given, but sometimes you might find comfort in a scent you wouldn't normally wear! I only just got into TALs so I can't suggest anything yet. One thing I recently did was invest in a relatively cheap scent necklace. I was scared of wearing a perfume and overwhelming other patients or the nurses/doctors. It also takes very little and it lasts a lot longer than if you wear it on skin. So it was a nice comfort item! You can ration Pinched in it and sniff it when you need it most. I've had the Instruction Manual in mine for about a week and I can still bring it to my nose and smell it! Next surgery I am thinking of spritzing a blanket with an atmosphere spray and bringing it with me, that could be an idea for you to utilize! I hope you can find your comfort in these uncomfortable situations
