    Poor Monkey

I'm surprised I never reviewed Poor Monkey--time to fix that omission! This is a skin scent, suitable for almost anywhere scent can be worn. On me, the fig milk & vanilla predominate, with the fir providing a cooling, understated ground. My notion of a wet monkey in a tree would be a lot muskier than this gentle, sweet blend. It pairs beautifully with Fig & White Sandalwood HG. Bottles are currently available on the Lab's Etsy--if you love the Lab's fig note, don't miss out!

Western Small Foot Bat Hair Gloss

Oops, forgot to review this lovely stuff! Rose with a hint of green leaves, with light, dry patchouli. Only a hint of amber for me. I love it!

Lick It Like You Mean It

From a forum purchase. Starts out as strong peppermint with a vanilla back up. Dries down to a surprisingly musky vanilla with a hint of mint & something faintly patchouli-like. I love it. 2022 update: I've bought 3 bottles of Lick It blends, & this one's my favorite (and the only one I haven't let my son steal.)

    Lilith De Milo

Vanilla & sandalwood, with coconut to ground it. Soft, delicate, warm, very comfortable. When the notes contain vanilla & sandalwood, & there's a picture of the Littlest Lab Rat TM on the label, it's pretty much a must -buy for me. 2022 edit: Is there fig in here? I swear there's fig. I love this blend.

    Midnight Mass

2013 version. Soft, dry, resins. Very low throw. This version is so dry on me that it cries out for layering. I was frimped a sniffy decant of the 2018 version, which is a lot fuller & more balanced on me. I'll re-review if I get my hands on some.

    Natural Science Nail Lacquer

A latte-like taupe with so much shimmer! Great wear length: 5 days looking great. I was complimented on the color, but that happens with pretty much all of my BPTP polishes .

    Dream Awake Nail Lacquer

@absinthetics is right, this is a one-coat coverage metallic, right in between silver & gold. Bright & shiny, in no way subdued. It reminds me of gold lamé, or gold leaf. This will be versatile for me. Happy I got it.

    Hoîru

I bought a partial bottle, but never reviewed it. 2+ years later, Hoiru is a suede scent for the ages . On me, Hoiru is suede leather & mysterious wood. Somehow, all the notes (bourbon vanilla, tonka, patchouli, pale amber, blackened tea leaf, coconut husk & cashmere,) combine to produce a scent that seems like the most smooth & expensive Mysore sandalwood, plus oudh. A keeper, for sure!

    Shirts

Seconding @VioletChaos on the greatness of both the images and the shirts used for the current Lunacy collaborations with Dan Santat. Gotta catch 'em all! The Pink Moon & Strawberry Moon images are my faves so far. (Pink Moon looks like the artist used Teadaughter as the model, squee!) Also very chuffed about the return of the Goblin Grab Barrels.

    Penny Rolle

Yes! This is amazing! Sandalwood is front & center. So good! It's wood & amber & nuts on me...I need a bottle.

    Big Bertha's Big Molasses Muffins

Delicious! Started out extremely foody, but relaxed into a quiet, spicy molasses that seems musky. I didn't get any orange, which surprised me. I agree this is a cozy blend. I like it a lot. Possible bottle.

    Gynotize!

Unhelpful review: my skin completely wrecked Gynotize!. I tested it twice to be sure. It went on as bold cherry, with skin musk & a hint of rose. Over the next 10 minutes, the cherry blast dissipated. What emerged was...extra-virgin olive oil accord. I kid you not.

    Harlow's Lace

I got my Harlow's Lace yesterday, & let it rest til today. It's sweet musk tobacco lace. The first couple minutes it's boozy butterscotch musk, almost like The Other Miss Forcible meets Grog. Then the tobacco comes out, followed by labdanum & the vanilla lace note. I foresee heavy rotation for this blend come autumn, because it's so cuddly. Edited to add: Still cuddly! My skin eats Harlow's Lace in about 4 hours, which is a lot shorter wear time than is usual for me with BPAL musk blends. It lasts & lasts in a scent locket, though.

    TKO

TKO has a special place in my heart. I endorse it 100%. 1) It absolutely does work as a relaxation and/or sleep blend. 2) It made a huge difference for my daughter's sleep routine at a time she really needed help. 3) It smells fabulous. When my daughter first encountered TKO, she described it as "Like being hit by a marshmallow pillow stuffed with lavender."

    Brown Jenkin

I love Brown Jenkin, despite how much its namesake creeps me out. I don't typically enjoy wearing the Lab's "dusty" notes, so if the description of the white sandalwood as dusty puts you off, take a risk. It is dry, as the Lab's white sandalwood generally is. The coconut husk & musk are the stars of this blend for me. It's the coconut that I love from Goblin, that goes so beautifully with woody scents. The musk sweetens the dry wood & coconut delightfully. The orris root & ceremonial incense notes are pretty subdued on my skin. Brown Jenkin is consistent--in the bottle, freshly applied, & dry, it's an unexpected musky coconut wood. Medium throw, medium wear length.

    The Little Wooden Doll

Soft, gentle sandalwood & rose, with amber grounding them. A warm, dry scent. I tend to layer this with other rose blends, as it is a little drier than I prefer. It's very simple.

    Morocco

Morocco is the perfect spiced musk & sandalwood blend, period. I love it as both perfume oil & hair gloss. It has medium-low throw, so it's a subtle blend. I think almost everyone I have hugged while wearing Morocco has told me I smell good. I tend to amp the clove-like note in the Lab's carnation, so I don't register a floral in Morocco, just spice. A classic.

    Hollywood Babylon

Hollywood Babylon is the rare red musk blend that my skin can't throw out of balance: usually I amp it like whoa. It's a cousin to Dragon's Milk & Tamora, in that it's got a sweet vanilla core. I find the musk & cherries are the main attraction. The amber, heliotrope & strawberries are side notes for me. I haven't bought a bottle, but I use every frimp that has come my way.

They Shut Me Up in Prose

Squee! Excellent vanilla & sandalwood, with delicate florals. I agree that They Shut Me Up in Prose is related to Volcano in Springtime. Both are part of a family that includes Two Sheep and Two Goats Resting Together in a Field, Zorya Polunochnaya & Like A Girl. If you love vanilla & sandalwood, do not hesitate!

    Let’s talk about Oudh...

Oudh fwends! I think BPAL makes an oudh blend for everybody. My favorite oudhs are the less indolic ones. In A Flaming Sword, the note is called "sweet oudh." In Entertaining the Heian Court Maiden, it's called "honey oudh." Entertaining is one of my top 10 blends ever. The more indolic oudhs (that edges over into barnsmell on my skin,) have lots of fans, too. In Bestla it's called "rose oud," & in First Morning in Paris it's called "Burgundy oudh."

    A Flaming Sword

Caveat: Hello, my name is Teamama, & I amp red musk. A Flaming Sword contains 5 notes that are fantastic for me, and my nemesis, red musk. I got my decant hoping against hope that I could wear this blend, yet prepared for everything excellent to be buried under the red musk when applied my skin. In the decant: resin heaven. The amber & sweet oudh are so lovely, with musk to ground them & coconut to sweeten. Sweet oudh is magical--it's as though golden fantasy bees sucked tree sap instead of nectar, to produce a honey that's actually a resin. Hints of green combine with the gold. Musk combines with oudh to take things in a discreetly sexy direction. Not a lot of patchouli or peppercorn on me, but that will probably change with age. Verdict: This is EXCELLENT. Unless you share my red musk amping problem, you can stop reading the review right here. And now the sad trombone: after 5 minutes, my skin has amped the red musk, & wrecked the balance of notes. It's now red musk, with faint hints of everything else. I will wear the decant in my scent locket, jealous of everbody who gets to rock A Flaming Sword.

    Languor

Review of a fresh imp. The notes in Languor are not ones I am drawn to wear, so bear that in mind . Big florals! The sweetness of the narcissus & lilies is HUGE. It's flirting with being honeydew melon accord. It smells great, & it's not me at all. I know this is a blend I won't reach for. It's somebody else's scent. Swap.

    The Stream

Big florals. The lychee provides balance, & keeps the blend from being nothing but flowers. The lavender, magnolia & lily of the valley are the main notes, grounded by the lychee. I'm in the same boat as @JazzieCazzie. I like it, but not on my skin. If my lingerie drawer smelled like The Stream, I'd be a happy cat. It's too much of a good thing for me.

    Baghdad - Resurrected

Oops, I forgot to review! Freshly applied: bergamot & mandarin, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. I'm pretty sure the rest of the notes are in there somewhere, but they haven't peeked out yet. Oh, here comes the Bulgar Rose! Yay! Now I'm getting excited... On dry-down: in a nutshell: Morocco-adjacent, with rose. Rose & Sandalwood (my OTP,) anchored by amber. A hint of musk & spice. Lovely!

    Fake News

I bought my bottle of Fake News when it first came out in 2017. I like it a lot, but hardly ever wear it. I have to wait for weekends to wear it, because it's a strong statement. The bitterness while wet is not my jam, but once it's dry...magic. It's got an upmarket patchouli note, not the hippie kind. The tobacco & pink pepper end up blending together into an oudh-like note. It's like patchouli & oudh, that makes me feel underdressed. Seriously, this is some haughty stuff.
