The day is bright and breezy at 65 degrees. There's not a cloud in the sky. Birds and squirrels are enjoying the weather, and my cats are basking in the sun. It's the type of day that inspires frolicking, where a game of tag seems quite apropos - the perfect day for Tag Upon Avon. TUA is playful, breezy, delicate. The tobacco is the main note, but it's light and dry, a waft on the breeze mingling with a hint of foodiness, the cookie on your tea table as you luncheon on the lawn. I think the clove is what gives everything an ever so slight chill, balancing out the tobacco's warmth. I don't get much tea, but it isn't missed. This is not a scent I need a bottle of, but I can appreciate it just the same, and it's lovely. PS. I lied. I might need more.

Starts out as sweet orange candy with a touch of floral. Its got a softness to it rather than a bright, zesty citrus. The saffron starts to warm up on my skin and adds a little musky warmth. I almost get a slight leather note? Very subtle. It's become less edible as it dries down. It's more of a soft, warm skin scent now. Pretty, but it doesn't seem like it lasts long or has much punch on me. Glad I got to try it though.

Floral and perfumey rather than soapy on me. This reminds me a little of Witch Bride, but WB was harsh on me where as this smooths out pretty quickly. This is a "fancy" floral. Very ladylike and classic, like a pencil skirt and a silky blouse. I don't get any snow note in this. It's pretty, but I'm not sure it's me.

Pediophobia smells like.... Edith Cushing.... at least on me. It reminded me of EC when I first put it on. Now I'm sitting here with one on each arm, and they are still pretty darn close. My husband thought EC smelled fainter, but otherwise couldn't tell a difference. They are a bit different. Pediophobia is chillier and higher pitched, but they both have that almost edible, but not quite, sweet perfumey vanilla overlaying sort of a musky warm base. As Ped. dries down, more of the tobacco note comes into play. It's a dry tobacco vs. a dark sticky tobacco. It's lovely. I have a bottle on the way. Seriously though, if you are languishing for EC, you might want to check this one out, since there is about a snowballs chance in hell of finding EC. ETA: I notice Edith was also compared to Ava (which I haven't smelled), so there ya go. Mmmmm.... Vanilla

Gloomy Day is just beautiful. Far from gloomy, this seems glowing and warm. If it's a gloomy winter day, I'm cozy and dry under a blanket by the fire. This is smooth, dry, and subtly spicey skin scent on me with a touch of sweetness. Gender neutral. I love it.

The meeting of Heaven and Earth: golden amber, galbanum, benzoin, ambrette, rockrose, costus and tonka. Yeeeeah. I'm getting baby powder too. It's pleasant, but definitely not the holy grail of resinous bliss I was hoping for. I want to see how it ages thou. I'm hoping itcwill settle in and smooth out.

Peppery dragon's blood assaults my senses at first. I'm guessing the cinnamon is what is giving me that nose tickling sensation, but I wouldn't have recognized it and it's not amping on me, which is unusual. I wasn't too impressed when I first put this on, but I kept getting whiffs, and now I'm considering a bottle. This sweetens and smooths out considerably with wear, I'm guessing b/c of the black amber and yeah - red musk. Mmmmmmmm..... Thick, sweet, and resinous.

Lots of dark, woody patchouli like in Pognophobia and Of the Unicorn. There is something dark and cool in this though that has to be the "obsidian." It lends complexity and a cologney edge that makes the patch rather intriguing. I'd consider this gender neutral leaning towards masculine. I bet it will age marvelously.

Sort of the jasmine version of Crucifixion. I too get a definate jasmine note, along with healthy doses of myrrh, frankincense, and labdanum. I'm not familiar with Tolu balsam. I really loved the roses in Crucifixion, but the jasmine's not really doing it for me, but if you love resin rich florals, this one may be worth checking out.

Ooooo.... I like it. Very herbal mint and the soil note from Deep in Earth. I guess the mint note translates as "snow," it's definitely got a chilly vibe, but what this makes me think of is tramping around in herb garden in spring. There's a soft floral sweetness that comes out in dry down that's pleasant. I find these earth/green blends very soothing and will definitely enjoy this one.

printf-username - you might also try GC scents of Blood Lotus and Blood Rose. They are both sweet, bright florals. Also, perhaps Fourette's Purple Snails, last year's luper, or Le Befana since you like Marie and it's half violet. You might also like Hope and Faith. They are both sugared florals and when mixed make a softer sweeter sort of Marie scent. PrinceofCats and LizzieLuck - Actually, there is another GC with coffee AND rose! Matahari. It's not my favorite, but it is unique and you can smell both notes. Might be worth a try.

Sigh..... all the notes in this sound like they should be right up my ally, but oh, that wintery musk... It blankets everything and turns right to laundry detergent on me. Road to Versailles smells very sweet, cool, and slightly astringent to me in the bottle. It's cheery and unusual. It makes me think of the feeling the tip of your nose gets when you're out on a cold but sunny day. Then it hits my skin and turns into laundry. Oh well.

I'm not really sure if it's rare or not. It was from 2015's Weenies, so I would suspect it's still around, but people like to hold on to things a while sometimes before they finally decide to swap them. You can do searches on sales/swaps pages and just keep an eye out. Pognophobia actually reminds me of Depart Pour a little, with a similar muskiness and honey note, but it's much more masculine, less sweet and doesn't officially list any goat notes. I'd actually be curious to know if anyone else thought it smelled a bit "goaty."

Depart Pour Le Sabbat is one of my favorites, which I fondly refer to as my "graham cracker-goat sex" scent. That's b/c it's slightly foody, slightly goaty, and very sexy. I did not like SN Manger Hay at all. I found it very brown, dry, and vaguely cinnamon. If it's got goatiness to it, it's not the one found in Depart Pour. You might also like civet, which is a musk derived from a type of cat. (BPAL's is synthetic) The note is very animalic and is in a few of the GC scents, so you could try it in imp form.

Very pleasant, unisex, clean and chilly. I get mint too, along with a lemony edge that comes from the white tea. The other notes play a supporting role. I think people who enjoy scents in the Embalming Fluid family would enjoy this one as a wintery cousin.

This one makes me giggle. It's loads of buttery, sweet popcorn in the bottle, the same note as in Mouse Circus. On my skin a cheerful pine pops out, mingling with the kettle corn. This is like a bright Christmas Tree pine complete with sparkly red berries. The two notes are oddly appealing together and the whole effect is really cute and fun. I am not a popcorn/foodie fan, so I will not be needing a bottle, but I'm glad I got a chance to try this one. ETA - Just wanted to update, I've been wearing my imp THIS year as Christmas approaches, and it really does bring a smile to my face. It's also the perfect smell for decorating the tree. If this shows back up for another yule, I might just have to buy a bottle after all.

Hmmm.... oddly wearable... and sort of... florals and white musk to my nose. It shares an odd plastic tinge with SN Polyester Spider Web, but that smell fades pretty quickly. I'm not sure what I expected, but it wasn't florals. Rather pleasant, but not me.

I have little luck with aquatics, which generally turn strait to soap on me. I love vetiver though, and the ingredients here seem non typical aquatic and are very off the beaten path for me, so I wanted to give Water Ghost a whirl. This opens with loooots of dark, charcoaley vetiver, a la Smokestack, balanced with a salty damp wood smell. There's a bit of soapy aquatic hanging out in the background. Overall, it makes me think of a sunken ship - murky, salty water and damp, rotting wood. After a few minutes the soap factor starts amping up on me. There's still a bit of vetiver and saltiness in there, and sometimes it spikes up just enough to perk my interest, but then it just goes back to soap soap SOAP. This would probably be really nice on a guy who wears aquatics well. The beginnings were promising and it's different from other aquatics I've smell, but definitely NOT for me. :-/

elka - it does relax me, but more in a head clearing/ mind sharpening sort of way than a sleepy way. Also, the peppermint's very strong on me at first. Kind of a WHAP in the sniffer, if you will. :-) Oooo,.. Witch Dance is lovely. I just ordered a bottle. I don't know if it dampens my appetite, but maybe I'd be too busy sniffing to think about tasting anything. What about earth/dirt blends? I always find them grounding, and they seem very non edible. SN Mud-Mingled Boot Slush is supposed to be minty snow and earth.

This is VERY floral, juicy, and a little bit green. It's a little too much for me as a perfume, but I'd like it a lot as a candle or linen spray. It reminds me of Jasmine Cottage quite a bit, so if that's your jam, give this one a whirl.

Vthesiren - Ooo, you might try Tag Upon Avon. Someone recommended it to me b/c I normally don't like tobacco, but I love Perversion. It is indeed the same note w/a gentle foodie quality that I'm guessing you'd like b/c of your Cockaigne love. It does have a hint of anise not mentioned in the notes though, so I don't know if that's a plus or aminus for you.

I don't know about appetite suppressants in particular, but I do know that I find Anesthesia invigorating. It makes my head seem sharper and clearer, so I could see how it might get you moving instead of eating. It's got peppermint and lavender. I see you've got Lick It in your icons. Does that help suppress appetite or is it too sweet? You're post is interesting. I'll have to pay more attention to my appetite while wearing BPAL. I think most of us could use a little help with that this time of year!

Soniahgreen - You might check out this Weenie's "Lavender Pumpkin Floss" from the Trading Post. It struck me as very similar to both Eat Me and The Witches. Hey TheresaRedSkull! Have you had a chance to smell Crimson Peak's Shadows & Reflections or The Velvets? Al Azif and Oblivion both have this weird sort of " dark, sweet non smell" to them. I don't know how to describe it exactly. S&R and The Velvets both strike me as having that quality.

Sir William Schwenck Gilbert A swank affair: moss and dead leaves – amber-gilded, wrapped in balsam and cracked leather – crowned with mums, with a shard of gleaming, bone-white orris root. Alas, The Ghosts' High Noon is a bit of a disappointment for me. I was wanting amber, balsam, and leather, but this is predominately a "dead leaves" scent in the bottle and on me. It reminds me a lot of last years "Dead Leaves, Black Pepper, and Sandalwood." Perhaps my nose is getting a similar dryness from the orris as it does from sandalwood? It gets a creaminess to it as it dries down, but it's still very much dead leaves, and dead leaves just aren't my jive. That said, it smelled really nice when I tested on my husband, and if dead leaves work well on you, this might be really nice. My chemistry just isn't bringing out much complexity. Very nice. I get a soft, supple leather blending with a light, dry pipe tobacco. There's a slight tang of copal in the background, but I don't really get any vanilla. The fragrance is subtle on me and hugs the skin like kid leather. It has a similar feel to me as Perversion, though it actually smells pretty different.
