    Judith and Holofernes

Skin musk, honey, carnation, French magnolia, patchouli, sandalwood, and immortelle. I apologize for being so hopeless at scent description. Wet, the most prominent note is sweetness, I believe it's the honey, with a hint of the magnolia. As it dries, the skin musk becomes more prominent and the carnation starts to bloom. The scent becomes somewhat earthier. The carnation fades quickly. I like it, but I'm not sure I love it. I think I'm going to give it some time to age. I hope the carnation will become more prominent with time, because I think this would be a knockout with more carnation.

    Meadow scents!

Can you tell me where to find Pa-Pow? I can't seem to locate it via searching here or on the BPAL site. ETA: Never mind. I figured it out - it was an LE. I think the search engine didn't like the hyphen.

    Peacocks

In the bottle this smells a bit like Fire Pig - which is a great omen for me, since I adore Fire Pig. Wet it's a tart, fresh sweetness, I think that's the pear, backed by jasmine. It doesn't morph much when dry though more of the sugar comes out. All in all this is a really lovely blend.

    Fire Pig

I just swapped for a bottle. In the bottle Fire Pig is very fruity, too fruity for me. But on the skin, and given a bit of time to meld and morph, Fire Pig becomes an absolutely delightful light, sweet, fruity scent. I'm not really getting any florals at all, but I think they're helping to mellow out the fruit so it's not as strong as in the bottle. I'm really loving this scent and I'm so glad I got it.

    CCNow or PayPal

I'm having a bit of confusion about PayPal. It used to be that I'd pay straight from my bank account and it would go through immediately. But now I'm getting separate notifications of when I ask to send payment and when it's processed, and the transaction is being called an e-check instead of a bank transfer. Does this mean I'm going to get bumped to the back of the pack for shipments? And why is it taking so long to clear my payment nowadays?
  6. I was just wearing Mr. Ibis yesterday, and I knew it reminded me of something. It definitely does have a similar white musk note along with the aloe. Mr. Ibis is already in my top five. I guess my nose knows.
  7. Any suggestions for GC equivalents of Tamamo-No-Mae? I've decided that I absolutely love this scent and since it's pretty much impossible to get in the swaps I'd love to find something similar in the GCs. On me it's a sweet, creamy, smoky scent.

    Tamamo-no-Mae

I am loving this blend. This is what I wanted Vasakasajja to smell like (it was all fruit on me). I can't really describe the notes. Wet, it's very fruity. But that dissapears pretty quickly on the drydown. I think I'm smelling a sweet, creamy, smoky musk. And it's lovely. It doesn't have a ton of throw, but sometimes when I turn my head I get these whiffs of something absolutely enchanting. Beautiful.
  9. Hi, does anyone have a recommendation for a scent similar to The Body Shop's White Musk? Especially something where a similar musk is used in combination with other fruity or floral notes? Thanks.

    Shakespearian enabling

The only two oils I've tried from Illyria are Desdemona and Rosalind, and I love them both. Desdemona is very sweet and simple and lovely and very, very pink. Rosalind is a sweet, berry floral with a hint of grass. They're both really lovely.

One to Tie, Two to Win

Mmm, I love this one. Wet it starts out as a slightly sharp grass, but the sharpness fades quickly. As it begins to dry a sweet, light floral (I'm assuming the dandelion) starts to emerge. After a while the dandelion becomes the more prominent note, but the grass is still there. This has pretty decent wear on my, at least 5 hours or so. All in all it's a lovely, sunny, fresh scent and I'm so glad I got it!

    Almond and Amaretto

Hmm, I found Dana O'Shee to be very almondy. And I know Bilquis is supposed to have an almond note in it as well. That's unimpable, so you'd have to get a decant off the forums.

Call it a broken heart, a break-up, heartache...

If you're looking for a GC scent you may want to try Sudha Segara. It's a warm, comforting scent, and I've been wearing it for the past few days to help me with stress. Good luck.

    Sudha Segara

I just got an imp of this from my lovely Switch Witch and I love it! In the imp it's a light sweet ginger. Wet the honey comes out and it's a sweet light honeyed ginger. By the way, I am incredibly suprised that this honey works for me. It's lovely. As this dries the creamy milk comes out to play and the ginger fades a lot. It becomes a creamy honey with just a hint of spice. Unfortunately it fades rather quickly. But it's just so beautiful in all its stages I'm perfectly happy to reapply often. This is a lovely, comforting scent.

    Mama-Ji

Mama-ji was a bit of a dissapoinment to me. I was expecting a more powerful scent. What I got was a dusty, spicy scent that was almost indistinguishable from Morocco to my nose. I think my skin is eating a few of the notes. Mama-ji smells lovely in the bottle, but like nothing special on my skin.

    Mr. Nancy

My skin chemistry utterly mangled poor Mr. Nancy. I never even got a hint of lime. Just straight booze, with a hint of the BPAL foody note that makes me ill. The wierd thing is that the booze didn't even smell like rum, it was more like bourbon. This was a big dissapointment for me, since the idea of smelling like key lime pie was very alluring. Oh well, at least I have Mr. Ibis.

    Mr. Ibis

This is my favorite Carousel scent by far. Wet, Mr. Ibis is a bright, sweet aloe. After he dries down, the scent morphs into a musky, vanilla aloe with just a hint of dust. The scent is probably pretty unisex, but is a lovely, light feminine scent on me. I get very little throw, but a ton of staying power.

    Frumious Bandersnatch

In the imp it smells very sweet and fruity. Wet it smells very spicy. Mmm, lovely spicy. Almost baking spicy, but without that BPAL foody note that makes me ill. Dry it smells fruity with just a hint of the spice. It's very light, I can barely smell it after a few hours. It's great, a fun, sweet scent. I just wish the spiciness stuck around for longer. I wonder if using a scent locket would retain the spiciness, although the spice doesn't come out till it hits my skin. Hmmm, I must think on this.

    White and "Light" Musk Recommendations

I'm honestly not quite that sure how to describe it. It's the musk that's left on my arm after about 8-12 hours of wearing Vasakasajja. Once all the fruit has worn off and it just smells like really yummy skin.

    White and "Light" Musk Recommendations

Thanks, Eos is already on my wishlist. I'll add La Petit Mort now, it does sound good.

    White and "Light" Musk Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for musks similar to the musk in Vasakasajja? I'd love a (much) less fruity Vasakasajja. But the only oil listed with skin musk is Bengal, and I'm worried about the honey (it tends to go weird on me). I tend to amp patchouli and rose, and have to avoid most foody (and booze) scents (they make me sick). Help?

    Green Tree Viper

This was the Snake Pit scent I was most excited about. I love mint and vanilla, so a minty Snake Oil sounded perfect. In the imp: I have to say I was suprised that this oil was orange, I guess I was expecting it to be green. Mint, but more a natural mint than a candy mint. Wet: Mint. This is incredibly light, I can barely smell it. Dry: This is starting to throw more as it dries. The mint is lovely. It's not the peppermint of Lick it Again. Maybe it's a bit spearminty? Ooh, I just got a wiff of the vanilla. Mmmm. The Snake Oil is starting to show. But the patchouli has yet to take over, which makes me happy. I think some of the tea is coming out. But this is so faint (after about half an hour) that I can barely smell it. I think I'm going to have to slather to get a better sense.

    Saw-Scaled Viper

This and Green Tree Viper were the snakes I was most excited to try when I first read through the Snake Pit. In the imp: It doesn't smell spicy to me at all. Or foody. It just smells, well, icky. Uh oh. Wet: Ok, the icky note is hitting me on the side of my tongue all the way too the back, if that makes any sense. But I can definitely smell the cinnamon coming to the forefront. Dry: Ooh, after about a minute and a half the icky note is gone (hallelujah!) and this is a lovely, slightly spicey, ginger/cinnamon. It's actually smelling a lot like Shub on me, but with a cinnamony and not a ginger edge. I hope that the vanilla will come out in time.

    Shub-Niggurath

I love this scent. But in the imp it smells awful to me. Whatever that foody scent is that makes me nauseated, this has it. But thirty seconds after I put it on my skin that scent fades, and a minute or too later the icky scent is gone. And what's left in its place is wonderful. It's a sharp, wonderful ginger. I'm not getting any lemon, but I can almost feel incence at the back of my throat when I inhale. This is much sharper than gingerbread to my nose. Maybe a ginger-drop or something. Whatever it is, it's great. Love.

    White Rabbit

Ok. So I tried this on my skin twice. And it turned to oats. Raw oats. When I gave it more time to develop there was a lovely sweet, warm scent over the oats. But I could not escape the faint scent of oats. Huh. I think my nose is broken.
