    Bastet

I very nearly ordered a 5ml of this unsniffed, because it is Bast, glorious Bast, and the warm amber scents really work for me....but the almond note made me hesitate, and I'm glad I did. Wet, it's the hated cherry-almond bathroom cleaner scent, but I was prepared for that based on the reviews I've read. After it dries down, it's a nice, soft, warm musky amber with just the right amount of spice. Sadly, the nice smell only lasts about an hour. After that, there's hardly any throw, and the warm amber is now totally unremarkable. The six hour test leaves us with a faint, sickly smell. Not good. I tried this first on the back of my hand, and got this reaction, and then a few days later, slatered over the pulse points and even in my cleavage. Same thing. So sad! I wanted to adore and worship this scent. Instead, I will be swapping it, and I hope someone else can worship it for me.

    Fallen

Mmmm....this one is full of all those things I like about guy smells. If I had a boyfriend, I'd drown him in this stuff. I just adore musk and amber, and in this they blend perfectly with the sandalwood...I haven't gotten any florals yet (yay!), but I can smell the vetiver in there grounding things. The notes stay perfect, never going powdery on me. I need to find some way to use this one - my skin eats it up within about 2 hours, which seems to be the trend for the newer blends. Really depressing, as I adore this one.

    Antique Lace

Even after reading the reviews here, I didn't quite expect what I smelled when I first sniffed Antique Lace. I was definitely expecting very sweet, and even vanilla, but it's really VANILLA. This is not a bad thing! I think my skin really tends to amplify vanilla notes, too. It's a warm, soft, vintage vanilla.

    Belle Époque

This one is very pretty! In the bottle, and for the first bit on, it is as the other reviews have said, sandalwood and lily of the valley, warmed by some very subtle vanilla. It doesn't last very long on me, which makes me a bit sad. After 4 hours, all I had was a very faint, sweet mandarin scent left. I reapplied, and now, not quite two hours later, it's going fast. Still, a lovely blend.

    Whip

Whip is EXACTLY as the lab's description says. Wet roses and leather. It almost steams with rose-scented fog. It's lovely, and this is coming from someone that doesn't really like rose scents. My skin also tends to grab on to rose notes and not let them go. To me, it smells like the oil version of Demeter's Belladona spray.

    Egg Nog

In the bottle: Smells so good! Definitely boozier than the stuff I'm drinking out of a mug right now, and sweeter, but so good smelling. On: Still good... Ten minutes later: Crap. I smell like I've rubbed a cheap candle all over myself. It's gone all vanilla and waxy on me. Sigh...I really love eggnog, too. Guess I'll have to stick to drinking the stuff instead of trying to wear it...

How to remove scents from your skin

What I stumbled on recently was a good washing with soap and hot water, followed by an application of plain old hand sanitizer. After a few minutes, my skin just smells normal again.

    Has No Hanna

Has No Hanna smells the same in the vial as it did after drydown, which was a first for me! While I didn't get to try any of the good stuff from it (I put it on a couple of hours before bed, and all I did was knit), it made me FEEL happy and bouncy for no real reason. Even though I was exhausted, I was bopping along like I'd just had a big latte or something. It smells like happiness, sweet and floral and very golden. It's one of those florals that agrees with me, though I'm not sure what it is. Perhaps jasmine or ylang ylang, as other reviewers have mentioned, those are some of the only florals that work with me at all. I likes! I want more.

    R'lyeh

Mmmm, this one is goooood. I don't really get the evil grapefruit. In the vial and wet both, there is a freshness there, but for me, no grapefruit. That's fine. After drydown, it was all a dark, insencey aquatic scent. Wonderful! No swimming here, or the elder gods might keep you!

    Neo-Tokyo

I really wanted to love this one... For the first hour or so, I did love this. It is terribly fresh and clean and crisp, all bamboo and light florals. Then, almost an hour to the minute, it turned in to eye stabby pain drugstore perfume. Dammit.

    Athens

I got this one on a whim from a forumite, and am I glad I did! Out of the vial, it is VERY sweet and rich, and at first I wasn't sure I'd like it. I tried it on the back of my hand, and it dried down very quickly to a very rich, potent honey scent. It's very simliar to O, but with the red wine and myrrh to deepen and darken it. As O is my all-time favorite, I love this, too. I can see myself reaching for it on those days I feel just a little bit more evil. It's got lasting power, too! I put it on my hand at around 7pm last night, and here it is 10am the next day, and I can still smell it if I put my nose close to the skin. Mmm, dark honey....

    Nanshe

To me, Nanashe was VERY lemon, but fresh lemon, not like lemon pledge, with a very strong herbally scent thrown in. It didn't really smell like lavender to me, but more like basil. It was very clean and crisp and refreshing. As far as the dream oil aspect - while I was wearing it, I couldn't remember my dreams at all. This is very odd for me, as I always have complex, involved dreams that I remember in the morning. I'll have to try it again to see what happens!

    Ra

This one, to me, isn't sweet or floral or citrusy at all! It's definitely a red-gold scent, and was sweeter in the vial than on my skin. On my skin, it instantly morphs in to the exact scent of a hot, dry, dusty day. The exact smell of the sun coming up over the mountains and baking the dirt and the heat rising in waves. It's perfect for me right now, while it's freezing cold outside, to remind me of hot sun in the desert, right around the middle of August. Yup, need a bottle.

BPAL Patchouli - there's nothing else like it

You might have her try Malediction, it was a LOT of patchouli to me.

    Kuang Shi

Kuang Shi was a freebie in my last order, and it's definitely an oil I wouldn't have ordered on my own. It smells very nice in the vial, fresh and sweet. On, it's very a very intense, sharp citrus scent. It mades me think of a very powerful version of Bath and Body Works' Tangerine Spice lotion. While I love the gentle smell of the lotion, the intense oil is too much for me. I ended up having to wash it off!

    Phantom

On me, Phantom is a rich, soft, comforting scent. It feels like burning your favorite incense, then pulling a blanket out of the dryer and wrapping up in it. Very warm goldenbrown comforting. After a few hours, it fades down to a subtle, inoffensive rose. I'm not one for florals, but I didn't mind it. It only lasts about 4 hours on me, which is sad, but this is one I'd be happy to reapply, or put on before curling up in bed to read and nap.

    Hell's Belle

I'm usually not at all a floral person, but this smelled lovely in the bottle, so I swapped for it with Caitfish. Very rich and creamy, lush wet flowers. I think the musk and spice add to their depth, and it's just a really beautiful blend. However, wearing it, I'm reminded why I shy away from florals... At first, all I get is coppertone suntan oil. Lots and lots of greasy coconut. Then *poof*, it's gone. Maybe as a room scent...but more likely, it'll end up in the swap pile.

    Tintagel

I swapped with Caitfish for this one, because I liked the smell of it wet. Wet, it smells sweet and woodsy, which isn't my typical scent, but was nice. On, for the first half hour or so, was very very cinnamony. Not red hots cinnamon, but more cinnamon stick (which is good, I don't like the former). After that, it mellowed down to a slightly spicy, but more woodsy scent, and some of the wine came through. I think this would be nice in a candle or room spray, but sadly, it's not lasting long on me. I applied it about four hours ago, and it's totally gone. :/

    Jezebel

This is the missing imp! It stuck to the bubble wrap in the bottom corner of my last order's box, so I totally missed it until I went to re-use the bubble wrap for a swap. Imagine my joy to find another imp!! Now, O is seriously my all-time favorite bpal scent. Jezebel just might be edging it out. In the bottle, Jezebel is very sweet and fruity, and really not my thing at all. I almost didn't try it on at all, but I realized how could I let the fates down and not try on this suddenly uncovered scent? On me for the first 15-20 minutes, all I get is orange gummy bears. Or maybe orange swedish fish. Do they make orange swedish fish? It's the orange and honey together, making a sweet sweet orange candy right on my skin. Then we hit the change. And oh, what a change! The orange fades completely, and the rose must have stayed in the bottle or something. All I get now is a truly WONDERFUL mix of honey and sandalwood. OH MY! This is what I was hoping Velvet would be. It just wraps me up and makes me warm and happy. It's sweet and sexy and beautiful. It lasts decently long, too. I applied at 9am and was still going fairly strong at 1pm, and still had lovely whiffs of sandalwood at 7pm. A big bottle. Oh yes. It will be mine.

    Oneiroi

This is a very lovely soft, sweet, deep flowery smell. I think it would make a wonderful linen spray...cozy and quiet. Smelling it makes me want to lay down and take a nap right now! I really love lavender, especially with anything sleep-releated, but I've found that it's a terribly calming scent on me at any time. If I'm in an upset mood, I pull out the Oneiroi, and it really helps.

    Morocco

Lovely. Spicy, but not cinnamony like Sin. Musky, but the carnation tones it down. I think I'm going to fall in love with this one, for sure. Or maybe not. The first two times I wore this one, it was perfect. Warm and golden and spicy and delicious. I was all ready to put a 10ml of this in my very next order. Then it changed. Halfway through the third wearing....I kept smelling root beer. The fourth wearing, it was all root beer. I tried it as a linen spray. I slept in a bed of root beer. *sigh* It just didn't work out. Damn me and my weird sense of smell!

    Queen of Sheba

Ew. Well, not ew, really....but yeah, ew. For the first 15 minutes or so, all I could smell was cherry-almond, which makes me think of the stuff I use to clean my bathrooms. Gag. After it dried down, it became ok, not spectaculary, but ok....but it just wasn't worth that first 15 minutes of ew. I really wanted to like this one, but this is the oil that told me that I need to stay away from almonds!

    Jolly Roger

In the bottle, very fresh and clean. I can definitely smell the salt and bay rum. On me, it smells like I've been swimming the ocean. It has to be very oceany to make me think of that, I haven't done more than dipped a foot in the ocean in 20 years! It definitely makes me think of pirates, and I wear it when I'm feeling piratey and want to say "ARrrrr!" a lot.

    Sin

I fell in love with the cinnamon-spiciness of this one. I've always loved spicy amber scents, and this, to me, is the ideal of them. Sometimes, on me, it smells very piney or almost like cedar...I'm guessing it's the interaction between the sandalwood and patchouli and cinnamon. Often I don't like patchouli scents, but in this, it's mild and not overpowering, which patchouli often is on me. It's a warm, lovely scent, and I adore the big bottle that I bought of it.

    Wrath

In the bottle, sweet and spicy and lovely. I think I like dragon's blood. Trying it on skin right away to make sure we don't have a repeat of Three Witches....so far so good. I can smell mainly dragon's blood and clove, with a little cinnamon. I like it, it's very warm and spicy, but still sweet. Would I be twisted if I said this was a calming blend to me?
