    Hearth

Buttery without being overly buttery, and thankfully, doesn't go to plastic on me like many scents with butter notes tend to. It does start to merge into a bit more of a blended scent, but I don't really get candied chestnuts from this - more like a very buttery kettle corn. The smoke and the pine are in there somewhere, I think, but they're subtle. This is a good scent for spending curled up with a book on a rainy day.

Bubble gum. No, really. At first this is bubble gum with a hint of cinnamon. The cinnamon starts to creep up a little more, and it's that terrible Red Hots fake cinnamon that I hate. Fortunately, the cinnamon dies down and the scent goes back to being bubble gum. It starts to morph from bubble gum into fruit gum and then starts smelling like a fruity dragons blood. The fruit slowly fades out into just dragons blood which holds sole dominance for a while before the scent dies. While I didn't like this scent like I hoped I would, the patchouli mercifully did not make itself known just as I'd hoped.

    Devil's Night

(This is the 2006 version.) For the first few hours of wear this just smells really sour on me. Eventually it dries into a blend of faint sweet, booze, and smoke notes that the boy especially likes, but I can't stand smelling sour for hours just to get that drydown.

    Gingerbread Poppet

(This is the 2005 version.) Gingerbread! Not fresh from the oven and still warm gingerbread, but a more subdued scent like gingerbread baked a couple days ago. It briefly threatens to go plasticky but never does. Unfortunately, the scent never has much throw, and it wears off really fast. I like it, though, and I'll have to try applying more next time.

    The Winter of Our Discontent

This scent is definitely an interesting one. Something in the initial combination smells like baby powder to me and stays that way for hours - it's just like Dragon's Musk all over again. After several hours, the baby powder smell dries down, and I get a spicy clove scent. I like the spicy clove drydown, but it's not worth smelling like baby powder for hours on end. I want to try this one on the boy and see if he can manage to skip the baby powder stage.

    Monster Bait: Closet

Mmm, berry! I don't get blackberry in specific from this - more of a generic berry scent. The bourbon and the buttercream start to rise up and make a mild appearance later in wear. Ends up melding into a generalized sweet scent with berry hints at the end. I like what I smelled of this, but the smell seemed to die off quickly. I'll try applying more next time to see if that helps with throw or duration.

    Litha 2006

This just smells too strongly of citrus, which is odd given that there aren't any citrus notes listed in it. Most of the wear is a very sharp citrus smell that eventually fades down to the sweet honey wine. Unfortunately, the honey wine phase is short and faint enough that it doesn't justify the long citrus phase.

    Midnight Mass

(This is the 2006 version.) Yup, that's incense. This isn't a floral incense - it's very resiny with perhaps a suggestion of fruit. This is nice, and it works well on me, but there's nothing that really separates it from other incense blends that also work well on me. I'll be keeping my imp, but I don't think I'll be needing more.

    Monster Bait: Underbed

Chocolate, coconut, and a bit of something else slighty sweet and spicy (the angelfood cake and cassia?). This scent never really changes on me. It's not OMGLOVE, but it is pretty nice. It made me crave brownies, though. It's a scent I would definitely wear again, especially as a comfort scent.

    Pink Phoenix

There's something in this that just doesn't agree with me. I don't know if it's the pear, the strawberry, or the sweet pea, but it's just too strong and has an edge of chemical-fake on me. I think I can smell the vanilla and the honeycomb trying to break through, but it's being beaten down by the chemical fruit. At the end, the vanilla and honeycomb come into sweet dominance, but I fear the chemical fruit isn't worth the nice drydown.

    Sugar Cookie

(This is the 2005 version.) On application I get melted butter. Then the dough note starts to come out and immediately goes to plastic on me. *sigh* This is going the way of Beaver Moon. I wonder if all BPAL straight baked goods scents (the ones without other notes) are not going to work on me. After a while this starts having the most interesting throw, like vanilla sugar. Unfortunately, the throw is incredibly faint, and I still smell cookie-scented plastic when I get too close to my wrist. Sadly, this one is off to the swaps.

    Jacob's Ladder

(This is the 2006 version.) This is the perfect comfort scent. I can't name any specific notes other than the amber, but it's all just so warm and soft and lovely. I put this scent on after I'd put on flannel pajamas and was going to cuddle up with a warm blanket and soft pillow. Amazingly, this scent smelled just how I felt - it smells like pillows and cuddles. I'm going to need more of this since I want to make some as a linen spray.

    Purple Phoenix

This is just grape on me. It's not obviously fake like grape gum or grape cough syrup, but it's that generic grape smell. It doesn't change much from beginning to end either. If I ever come across SN: grape, don't sign me up.

    Halôa

Poor Haloa, I really wanted to like you. I get the barest hints of cakes and wine from this, but mostly I just get a smell that doesn't smell quite right to me. I don't know if it's the frankincense, the myrhh, the olive leaf, or the combation of the three, but something in this just doesn't sit right with me.

    Monster Bait: Underpants

Unfortunately, I never got any saffron from this. What I primarily got this was butterscotch with a slight hint of booziness (I suppose that was my skin's interpretation of butter rum and vanilla cream). Throw and duration were moderate. This was nice but not a favorite. Since I prematurely bought a bottle, I suppose I'll try this again with a heavier application.

    Quincey Morris

I'm not quite sure what I think of Quincey Morris. Initially the leather comes on much stronger than I would like (I dislike the smell of leather). It starts to fade after a short while, and the sweeter notes start to come out. Unfortunately, the scent utterly dies shortly after the sweet notes come out - I couldn't even smell it pressing my nose into my wrist. I would like to try this one again with a heavier application to see if I can get a better idea of the scent.

    Creepy

This is one of my new favorites. This is a lot like Sugar Skull on me, but with fresh apple instead of other cooked fruits, and the sugary smells being much more dominant. The boy got everything from buttery caramel to maple to butterscotch to rum sauce from this. This has decent throw and long wear length.

    Khajuraho

(This is the 2007 version.) This one was so close. I got a delicious sweetness from it; I'm not certain if it was the honey or the date or something else or a bit of it all, but it was lovely. Unfortunately, there was a chemical note, presumably one of the florals, that kept stinging my nose. Chemical nose stinging is a deal breaker for me, so I won't be getting any more of this.

    Smut

(This is the 2006 version.) On application, smells like cola, perhaps from the sugar notes. The musks come out to play before long, though. They're a bit strong at first even for a musk lover like me, but they soon meld together and mellow. I get a definite vanilla note in there somewhere, and it's perfect - my signature scent used to be a combination of light musk and vanilla. Moderate throw and duration. I like this.

    Wilhelmina Murray

Starts off as a not-nauseating floral with a dominant rose note. I've not been a fan of florals lately, but this isn't a gross department store perfume floral. As it wears on it starts turning into something much yummier. I think I'm getting the currant because I definitely smell fruit. After a while I start getting port from this. The rose has held through all this time, but it's hanging in the background a bit. It smells like I'm drinking a sweet, dark port with a vase of roses on the table and perhaps a very subtle musk incense burning in the next room. This is a gorgeous, incredibly well-blended scent, but I'm not sure it's quite me. For a floral and fruity incense, I like All Souls better. I'm torn between passing Miss Mina on to someone who will love her like she deserves, keeping the bottle to see how it ages, or just keeping the bottle in case I become friendlier towards florals again.

    Punkie Night

I get cranberry when sniffing the bottle, but I never get any cranberry on my skin. Starts off as fresh apple with a hint of spice. After a short while, the apple goes off to the background, and I start getting a really dominant cinnamon note. Fortunately, this isn't a Red Hots overwhelmingly fake cinnamon smell (like so many cinnamons smell to me); this smells like I just opened a bottle of fresh cinnamon. Still, it hits a point where it's almost too much. After a while, this starts smelling like mulled cider - the apple has come back into a cooked juice form, and the cinnamon has mellowed and melded in. This isn't a scent I see wearing often, but it's nice as a novelty scent.

    Red Lantern

(This is the 2006 version.) This is one of my new favorite scents. The amber and caramel are dominant for most of the wear, and together they're an incredibly rich and warm scent. The coconut and the spices peek out a little bit here and there to add some interest to the warm richness. This has pretty good throw and long wear length. I couldn't stop sniffing myself while wearing this; I've already bought a bottle, but I may need a second....

    Knecht Ruprecht

Christmas-scented air freshener. Not in a really bad, overly chemical way, but I feel like I'm wearing Christmas-scented air freshener. I'm getting a mix of trees rather than straight evergreen, but they don't smell like real woods to me, and that doesn't sit quite right to me. As the scent dies it has almost a foody tone, but it's not good enough to be worth smelling like air freshener.

    Svadhinaopatika

I was really expecting to love this, and I'm so disappointed it didn't work on me. This was just nauseatingly sweet, and I normally like sweet, sugary scents. I kept flinching any time I got too close to my wrist. As it wore on, the sickly sweet note gained a sour addition; I know there isn't any rose in here, but it's like rose gone terribly wrong. Unfortunately, throw was decent and wear length very long - I had to scrub my wrist the next morning to get the last of the smell off.

    The Brides of Dracula

Some florals work on me, and some don't. This one, unfortunately, is one of the ones that doesn't. I get the barest hint of the honey, musk, amber, and spices, but mostly this is all chemical department store perfume florals. I was hoping to really like this one, but it's off to the swaps.
