    Voodoo

Wet: yup, just like others have said, Cherry Coke (with a whiff of pine) Dry: Amaretto (not so much Almond) boozy Amaretto, vanilla and cherries with pine. Yum! The pine is strong. Usually I don't care for pine at all especially when it's this strong, but this is very nice. Clove was there the whole time but not very strong. Later: Fading faster than I would like. The Patch and myrrh showed up and did add a certain dept to this blend. Blessedly never picked up on the vetiver or lime, so yay This lasted a few solid hours on my skin. The wet stage was so yummy, but the dry stage was very wearable and sexy.

    Eldritch Dark Hair Gloss

Hate to say it, but Eldrith and I didn't get along. This should have worked on me and I am still a bit bummed that it didn't. *pouts* Anyway, Red Musk and I usually get along. Honey and I are best friends and even Rose will behave herself sometimes. I adore leather so I figure I was good to go on this blend. So wrong. This time all I got was heavy black musk, huge red rose (the powdery, all up in your face kind) and no honey. The red musk was there only hiding from the black musk bully. I never got leather. At first impression I hated this but after wearing it in my hair it did calm down enough to be slightly pleasant, but not enough to keep it. I swapped it immediately. On dry down it’s a fairly Black Musk heavy scent with rose fleeting in and out. Much calmer at this stage. Now I know that maybe I need to stay away from a blend if both Black Musk and Rose are present. That combination just doesn't work for me it seems. Oh well another day another HG to try

    Snake Oil Hair Gloss

This made my toes curl and my eyes roll back. This smells like aged Snake Oil. To me this seems a tad bit more vanilla heavy than the perfume oil version. Staying power was great 8 to 9 hours and throw was pretty good. Throw was more intense with the HG than the perfumed oil, and after a bit it did attract the attention of my coworkers that thought I smelled wonderful. Look you need this in your life. You really do. Like the above poster said, it's money well spent.

    Chorion Hair Gloss

You know this does smell like what you would think gossamer would smell like. Fragile, innocent, ethereal and sheer. This almost has an effervescent quality to it. It's almost too delicate for me. But I can say the vanilla used in this is fantastic. It's more vanilla pod than buttery. White musk tends to give me headaches but this doesn't. I think I may really enjoy this during Summer. As someone said above, this isn't working during fall/ winter. Come June, this will probably be my go to. Also, the scent didn't last very long in my hair, maybe 3, 4 hours.

    Boo Hair Gloss

Oh Boo, I love you. Whenever I wear you people say I smell like cookies. I smell like cookies for 12 hours because you are one of the longest lasting BPAL blends I have ever tried. Now you come in the form of hair gloss and I am so happy about that. You are sugar perfection and now that your yummy nummy smell has been paired with the best gloss in the world my life is more happy. Your hair gloss scent lasts just as long as the original oil does. You are swoon worthy and I shall be sad when my bottle is all gone.

    Black Silk

From my sniffie with enough for a few skin tests! This stays so close to the skin that after an hour it's almost barley there. The patch in this blend is beautiful and I second that it's a sleek "oily" patch. Lovely. The vanilla is creamy and light. In fact everthing about this scent is light. I was thinking that it would be heavier. Even notes like Tobacco and the Sandalwood aren't coming out very strong and that is odd for my skin. At about the 45 minute mark all I am left with is a creamy sweet vanilla and woods. All in all it's pretty but not something I have to track a bottle down of.

    Silk Road

Uhg, when did this become discontinued? I just tried it and its lovely. My luck. Basically it starts like a herbal/floral chai tea. So pretty at this stage. Later it takes on a heavy vanilla, floral spice feel with cinnamon and ginger coming to the for front. In the last few stages it's hard to pick any notes out for sure. There is a wood....something fluttering around. It doesn't last very long 4 hours tops maybe.

My tween likes Mouses long and sad tale, Yamaha and BOO.

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

I don't have a rec for a match for light blue I do have one for a beachy not really "girly" scent. Obatala. It's GC and it does put you in the mind of the beach. Not so much an ocean breeze but just a warm day in the sun by the waves. It's my go to summer BPAL. But be warned. It is coconut heavy. As far as the light blue goes, you could try mixing embalming fluid with something else. EF seems to have close to the same citus feel as light blue.

    The Inn Atmosphere Spray

I smell beer and sweet bread and the most wonderful banana ever. Mmmmmmmmmmmm I love this so much. Also when used as a linen spray it last for days. No kidding. I keep huffing this...if the labs banana note is like this I need to be more open minded about banana. This is so good.

    Gore-Shock

So I got this as an empty with an order I made from the forum. There was just enough for a few skin tests. In the bottle I smell a fast food restaurant. Like the smell you get when you’re standing at the counter ready to order. On my skin I got more of the same only after a bit I got a sickly sweet smell paired with what smelled like wet pennies. Also I kept picking up the smell of Neem oil. I’m talking about the real straight kind not the unscented kind. Neem smells disgusting, like rotten meat, onions and garlic that has been rotting together for many months in an old trash can sitting in the sun. And I swear every once and a while I am getting whiffs of Neem in this blend. No, not for me and I knew it wouldn't be. However, this does invoke gore for sure.

    Smutty Goblin Hair Gloss

Love. True love. My hair and the area around my head smells so damn good. I do smell teh Smut for sure. It’s there, boozy, glorious and strong but there is a brown sugar gooey note that is just as strong. This is scent heaven. I think i am going to need more than just one bottle.

    Traveling with BPAL

How many imps are we talking...50, 100, more? If it's much more I am sure this would break the 3-1-1 rule, so you may have to place them in checked luggage. Checked luggage, fragile little imps...would not be worth it to me.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

This is an old post, but Morocco kind of went to a Dark Vanilla-ish place on me. Thanks for taking time to try to help me . Sadly, while I do see a bit of Morocco (one of my fave BPAL) in Dark Vanilla its not enough on my skin to be a dupe . My search continues. Why do we always wants what we can'ts have?

    TKO

I was sent a sniffie with just enough for a few skin tests. TKO is now on my list of simply have to have purchases. Its heavy lavender on me with a lovely cloudy vanilla and a bit or an herbal whisp floating around the scent. Also there is a noticible root beer, Sassifrace, Sasparilla (?) note hanging around too. I dont feel like this made me sleepy at all but it was a wonderful scent and I really need to own it. Also....we need a TKO Hair Gloss. This would smell perfect as a hair gloss don't ya think?

    Silkybat Hair Gloss

Love. . Sugared Patch. YUMMY! This sticks around a very long time in my hair and it's pretty strong as well. On me this is the good patchouli not the cheap stuff. It's paired with the sweetest sugar and at some point starts taking on a lemonish ting that isn't anywhere unpleasant. I'm wearing it in my hair right now and I'm in a cloud of happy. I smell fantastic.

    Shiny Furball Hair Gloss

*Sigh* I wanted this to work for me. Sadly it just didn't. It does work wonderfully on the MR. so at least it wasn't a total loss. I was able to wear it out once. We went to the cornfield maze and I paired SFB with Samhain and after a few extra coatings of Samhain...it wasn't all that bad a combination. This needs more vanilla. Since my bottle has got to be close to a year old, this is as good as it will get, meaning that if the vanilla was going to age better it would have by now. The cedar is just too strong. It takes over the whole scent. On me I get straight up pencil shavings and a slight barely there vanilla. After about an hour the pencil shaving smell does mellow out and I can get whiffs of the other notes, but after about an hour this HG scent is gone. It doesn't last long on me, or not as long as I would want a HG to last. The Mr. doesn't like stuff in his hair, so I'm not sure I will keep the bottle around just for him to use once in a blue moon. HOWEVER, I did put this in my little nephew’s hair because he would stand still long enough to let me.....and he smelled adorable. He is only 3, but maybe it’s not too early to start his enabling.

    Non-Foody Pumpkin/Jack O'Lantern scent

Agree and if it's not smoky enough for you just toss on a bit of lights of mens lives over it and that should so the trick. Theme in yellow is the inside of a carved pumpkin for sure.

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Half-Elf (I'd go with V5) - White sandalwood, beeswax, white tea leaf, oud, and a hint of sophisticated urban musk. Morocco - Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia. Mouse's Long and Sad Tale - Vanilla, two ambers, sweet pea and white sandalwood. White Rabbit - Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen. Honey Moon - Five different honeys, ranging from pale and sweet to deep and heady, with hints of jasmine, white gardenia, Hawaiian white ginger and thyme. Feed Me and Fill Me With Pleasure - Black patchouli, honey, and thick vanilla amber. Snow White - Flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers. Contemplating the Moon Through an Open Window - Milk accord, tuberose, oakmoss, Asian pear, opoponax, and carrot seed. Loosening of the Obi - Rice wine, white sandalwood, vanilla bean, and white musk. Lamia - Pale orchid, vanilla amber, black currant, white peach, champaca, coconut, Arabian myrrh, Burmese vetiver, and oude. Love and Sleep - Fig milk, vanilla, orchid, and ylang ylang. Hal - Saffron-infused bourbon vanilla, blackened honey, Kashmir wood, Atlas cedar, ambrette seed, hay, and Egyptian jasmine absolute. Pretty good run down there. Most on that list are in my top favorites. I have been dying to try the others. Thanks so much!

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

I’m not new, but I have always wanted to get a recommendation on this thread. I have tried many scents but I am always looking for recommendations. I just don’t really know how to describe myself. I FEEL things deeply but articulating them can be difficult. I have typed this out like 3 times now, trying to understand who I am is hard for me. So here goes. I have noticed reading these that some people give Lit references to people that remind them of themselves. A lot of these are GOT characters. Since I have read the books, I would say CAT or Sansa would be the closest to me. Cat is a little bit too cunning for me actually I think. Anne Shirley would probably be my closest match. I’m not a great writer like she is, but she feels things so deeply and I can relate to that. She also finds beauty in everything and so do I. I work as a travel consultant. I do love what I do. I have been to lots of different places and I really enjoy traveling to places where no one knows me and doesn’t speak English. I don’t ever think I will lose my wanderlust, but what I would prefer to do would probably clip my wings and I would be okay with that sacrifice. What I really want to do is farm. I grew up in the country and we had a huge working farm. I said when I was younger that I would get as far away from that lifestyle as possible and I did for a few years. Then I started to miss it. Now it’s my biggest dream, the dream of having a house on the old farm, growing crops, raising animals and just living a peaceful quite life. No 9 to 5, no stuck in traffic, just me and my family working together to survive. There is something so calming about that idea. I tend to be an introvert. There are occasions when I can be a social butterfly but they are rare. Even when I travel I just sort of walk around, without being part of a large group and observe. At parties I do the same thing, or I chat up someone I know very well. It’s not that I don’t want to get to know people; it’s just that, honestly small talk sort of bores me. I’m also not good at making small talk. My mind wanders too much. I’m also a little bit shy (Some people have said I was a snob- but I’m not…only shy) Having said that- I do have friend’s and they are very important to me lol. They run the gambit from social outcast to socialite. I never judge a book by its cover and I really like having friends that are completely different from each other. I do have one true best friend. She is my kindred and she gets me. We will be best friends until they day one of us dies and then hopefully our friendship continues pasted this life. She is my polar opposite which is funny, but she understands and loves me for who I am. My other best friend is my husband. We are deeply in love. He is a lot like me, except he is chattier with people than I am. He is also great at conflict resolution which is something I struggle with. I feel I am a push over, or that I overreact. He just tells someone how it’s going to be and they do it. It’s a nice skill to have. I’m pretty detail orientated. I’m on time, and don’t appreciate my time being wasted. If I’m on the job, it will be right, it will be on time and it will be the best I could give. I take pride in things. However, if I’m not on the job….I can be messy, laid back and very lax in things. I’m weird I guess. I feel that my kitchen, bathrooms and all the laundry must be perfect all the time, but to hell with the living room, floors and making my bed. I’m crafty and creative. I’m not as artistically creative as most people here. I play a bit with art, but mainly where my skills shine would be a more practical creativeness. I’m a pretty good problem solver (as long as we are talking about tangible problems not philosophical ones) Is your car stuck in the snow? Give me a sec I’ll figure how to get it out. Don’t have enough butter milk for a dish you’re making? No worries I know a ton of ways to replace it. I think outside the box then get to work making it up as I go along. It usually works. I also have an eye for home decorating, and for pairing colors together. I’m not a writer or painter but I am a singer. I just won’t sing in public, but I have a really good voice. I use it mostly to sing to kids. Kids are the best audience anyway. I also sing to my dog and cat. No word yet on how they feel about it. I also have a HUGE imagination. I have whole books in my head that I would love to write only I don’t have the skills to put them to paper. I’m very hands on. If I want to learn about something I read everything I can get my hands on then I research some more. If it’s a procedure (Example: Soap making) then after I have read, I just jump right in and hope for the best. I usually make something my own by the end of the procedure and have tweaked it to make it suit me better. I use directions as suggestions, but the research I put in gives me enough info usually to make my decisions safely and effectively. As I said above I feel things deeply. When I love, I LOVE, When I’m sad, the end of the world is nigh. When I’m excited about something my whole body vibrates. I can watch the wrong commercial and be in tears. I saw an inspirational quote the other day and shed a few tears….believe me, I feel things DEEPLY. I can also tend to get my feelings hurt pretty easy. I also feel deeply about certain social issues and can be a tad bit political. I have done my fair share of volunteerism and I love it, only I’m not the face of the cause, nope I’m in the background sorting clothes, stuffing food boxes or stuffing envelopes. I’m a planner. If we are going somewhere, I have lists, and confirmation numbers etc. I know where we will be eating, what hotel we will stay at and what the reviews of that hotel are. I have a list of every possible thing we will need. It’s not that I don’t enjoy spontaneity; it’s just that I think planning things is half the fun. A well executed successful plan is my happy place. Plus if you’re ever on vacation with me, you will never need to run to the store for aspirin because I already have 3 different kinds in my suitcase. I’m not a leader and don’t want to be. No, you go do your thing and I will do mine. However if you need someone to get your back...I’m your girl, just no shouting orders at me please. I can follow a leader if that leader is strong and worthy of being followed. If that leader is not, then I see right through it and will push back with everything I have. This got me in trouble a lot in school. I’m just not a team player most of time. My parents would hear from my teachers that I was so smart but just didn’t put in the effort, and this was true. I only put in effort when I wanted it, but on tests I did very well. I just really hated dumb useless assignments and refused to do them. For a quiet kid, I was sort of a jerk looking back lol. My physical appearance probably does reflect my inside self. My makeup is usually neutral (However, on some occasions I will joyfully glam it up) I don’t wear much makeup most of the time but I have a huge make up collection. Why, because I want to be prepared. If I take a notion to want yellow eyeliner one day then by God I want that in arms reach! My hair is close to my natural color and I don’t really do much to it. It air-dries to waves and that is fine with me. I adore dresses and wear them mostly. They are usually flowing ones that aren’t tight and uncomfortable. I wear a lot of white, black, brown, grey and light blue. I figure what can wrong will so it’s best to be prepared for it. I understand that fate will have her way, but we can always stack the odds better in our favor. I have been through Hell and back. A few years ago almost everything I wanted, loved and dreamed for almost slipped away from me. In one moment I was happy and then the next ,my life was spinning out of control. I came through it stronger but possibly a bit more jaded to life. I keep a weathered eye on the horizon now and I don’t take anything for granted. It can LITERALLY be ripped from you at anytime. I will fight hard for the people or causes I love. I will fight until I have nothing left. I am loyal. If you are on my team, then I have your back. I’m also quick to forgive and bury the hatchet. I try to be the peacemaker in my family. I will speak the truth to a loved one, but I will never speak against them in public. I love men. I tend to get along better with men than woman. I have been boy crazy since Kindergarten and always had a boyfriend waiting in the wings somewhere. Of course all that changed when I met the love of my life. Now I’m just crazy about my husband. I love reading. My favorites are huge epic novels that span generations. I love animals and children. Most of what I watch on television is history documentaries or things from my childhood. An occasional series will catch my attention, but it usually won’t hold it through 6 seasons. I enjoy traveling and camping (Recently camping more than hotels). I love taking long walks by myself and long car trips by myself. I love museums and learning the history of different places. I love my Husband and kids most of all. I love the beach, hiking, date night, cold days spent inside with hot tea and a great book, drinks with friends at a local bar, Waking up to snow, eating at expensive places, and spending time with my kids. I enjoy all the seasons, except when it’s above 100 or below 20. I think there are wonderful aspects to all of the seasons and to all areas of the world. I even think swamps are beautiful. What I don’t care for is large hustling cities, with a few exceptions. They have just too many people and too much noise. I don’t care for fake-ness of any kind. The worst kind is fake-ness I think is found in sales (car sales man are the worst) Don’t pretend to care about me when you’re just trying to sell me something, I’m not sure why that offends me so much. I have an aversion to new things. I don’t even own a smart phone and have a love hate relationship with my Kindle. I hope one day to be the coolest Grandmother in town, to still be having amazing sex at 80 and to finally be able to say “I got everything I wanted”. But more importantly when I die I hope I’m missed and remembered and that I taught something to someone that will be useful to pass on.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

If you really want to smell like Fall then I will second, third, (Fourth) Samhain. Years ago I woke up and wanted to find the perfect fall scent. I didn't know places like BPAL existed. I started researching and found lots of recommendations for Samhain from BPAL. I grabbed a bottle off Ebay and have been an addict ever since. Trust me. It's THE fall scent. . I freakin love FAll so much.

    Tobacco Honey

This is an odd little scent. It's almost too masculine for me to wear and husband said it seems to feminine for his taste to wear. I'm not sure if we want to keep it or not. The thing is we both LOVE the smell. Sweet honey, tobacco, greenness, light floral that isn't floral. Like I said, it’s an odd little scent. I also find this lasts and lasts and just gets better the longer you wear it. It's very warm and comforting. I'm not getting any ashtray notes or smoke, just sweet honey tobacco (pipe tobacco) with other glorious notes that make this so special. This would be perfect for fall....only how do I wear it? I think if it had more smokiness my husband could pull it off. As for me it's just NOT my style enough to wear it. I think this may be a candidate for layering because I just can't bear the thought of parting with it. I'm thinking aging may do the trick. Honey ages so well I think. Maybe a few more months and this will turn into something wonderful. As it stands now, I'm so happy we grabbed a bottle before they went dc'd

    Aeval

I don’t know when I got this imp. I’m going to guess that it’s close to a year old, so I would consider this “aged”. It was tucked away in my “haven’t tried box” and for the last few days this is all I have been wearing. This is THE sweet pea scent I have been looking for. Now, I still adore and will forever and always love Reflective Vulva and to a lesser degree Mouse’s long and Sad Tail, but Aeval is sweet pea perfection. If there is one note that BPAL gets right every single time its sweet pea. That can be a hard note to get right. Done wrong it can be too sweet, too juvenile or too fleeting. BPAL sweet pea is beauty with lasting power. Aeval smells pretty but with a haunting edge to it. The sage really helps to ground this scent and adds a bit of mysticism. It feels natural and sexy at the same time which I think is the best combination. On dry down I do pick up on a little bit of tonka and an herb-ish note that doesn’t seem to be the sage. The musk doesn’t over power at all in this blend, even on dry down. It just hangs out in the back giving this blend a sturdy base. It does last for several hours on my skin. I would say the throw is average, meaning it’s not announcing your presence but can be smelled if the person is close. You don’t have to hold your wrist under your nose to smell it. It’s stronger than that. I will be getting the big bottle.

Have there ever been any Bee themed Scents?

This needs to happen like now. I would buy so many bottles of that! I find when I mix Hetairae and Lights of Men’s lives together that I get a Hive-ish smell.

    Reflected Vulva

Hot damn this is pretty. It smells pink...not sparkly pink, or hot pink just soft pink. RV is creamy and sweet, fruity without smelling foodie or candy-ish. Snow White did not work on me, but RV does. It also has decent throw and lasts about 4 to 5 hours on me. I do wish it lasted a bit longer. Sweet Pea is the star in this blend. The listed note of sugared cream is very accurate. This smells like Sweet Pea meets sugar and cream. The cherry blossom is there too only hiding in the back. After a few minutes I get a strong coconut association, along with a light pretty vanilla breath throughout. It's very very pretty.
