    Lick It Softly

Got this in a decant circle! This is my first Lick It. In the imp: It's minty, of course. But it's more like mint leaves than a candy cane, so it's not strong. I like it, though, it's pretty pleasant. Wet: MINT!!!! It's a pure, delicious, super minty candy cane. Sinus-clearing and cold. Yum, just what I wanted! Dry-down: Something creamy emerges, and the scent warms up the tiiiiniest bit. There's something in there that smells a bit plasticy, and I'm pretty sure it's the vanilla. Sometimes vanilla goes weird on me, but I was hoping this blend would be safe. Dry: The mint is just a whisper now and the vanilla is still plastic. It isn't an overbearing plastic, but it's still pretty bothersome. There's not really any warmth/musk, but it's not wonderfully cold either, just a bit chilly. Further on: The plastic fades a bit but doesn't leave entirely. There's also this nice, soft sweetness just underneath but it just can't break through the plastic. Gosh, I'm a bit sad this didn't quite work. Though I did only get it Monday, so maybe it just needs more time to settle? I think I'll let it age a bit before deciding whether or not it goes in the swap pile. [EDIT 7/26/13] Retested this and it works now! There's no plastic, there's that lovely sugar musk others have mentioned, and it's nice and cold. Aging really did the trick. I'm so happy! This is going to go into heavy rotation this December. :-)

    Titania

Frimp from the lab! Today I was in the mood for a bright/sparkling scent, something to lift my spirits while I'm stuck in a basement office on a cold, cloudy day. I went through my imp pouch and picked out Titania because she seemed like she'd be a bright girl. I checked the notes and the list of fruits alone lifted my spirits- and then I saw there's sweet pea! I can't even begin to tell you guys how much I love sweet pea. I got a bunch of sweet pea body lotions/sprays from Bath and Body Works for Christmas and now I have a bpal with sweet pea! Oh my gosh, I am so excited! However, it's my time of the month which typically means fruits turn into sickly sweet candy, if Imp and the Vine are any indication, but I must try this now. In the imp: Bright, sparkling fruit with a breath of floral. I think the floral is a mix of the sweet pea and rose, but it's hard to tell. Nothing in particular is standing out but even if it remains like this, that's ok with me. It's very cheerful! Wet: SWEET PEA!!!! Loud, bright, wonderful sweet pea and a bit of green grass and a hint of snapdragon! This is so lovely I could cry! Dry-down: Here come the fruits. They smell a bit juicy and darker than the sweet pea. If the wet stage is like being out in the bright sunlight, then the dry-down is like moving to the shade. Dry: It's now fruit candy, very subdued sweet pea, and light musky rose. The fruits here are indeed like how the fruits in Imp and the Vine were during my time of the month tests- sticky hard candies, and not very appealing ones. Luckily, even though the candy is the most prominent right now, it's not making me gag or giving me a headache, so that's good, I guess! When wet this blend is phenomenal. It's exactly what I wanted. Buuuut the dry-down and dry stages weren't all that great. I'm not giving up hope, though, because I know it's just my current skin chem's fault. The Vine was nasty until I retested it at a later date and now it's a favorite. So you know what, I'll give this another go in a week or two and then write up an update. (: In the meantime, I'm going to dab some sweet pea lotion on my wrists and see if it mellows the candy smell, haha. [edit] It's a week later and I'm trying it again. The wet stage is the same but the dry-down has only bare hints of fruit candy and is still mostly sweet pea and snapdragon. Dry it gets very soft and a bit powdery. There's a wee bit of peach hard candy in there and a suggestion of musk and juicy grapes. Its color is green. It's definitely much nicer now, but I was hoping it would wow me more in the dry stages. I don't know about getting a bottle, but I'm definitely keeping the imp. Who knows, maybe this will age really well. (:

    Scent for Halloween?

I'm at work right now and to get into the Christmas spirit I'm wearing Sugar Cookie 2011 layered with Port Royal. PR is almost all spice on me and SC '11 has some spice too so I smell deliciously of warm cookie dough and copious amount of nutmeg and cinnamon. Yummmm. Not sure about tomorrow, though. I had been planning on wearing either Lick it Softly or Talvikuu but the decants I ordered haven't even been mailed out yet. Maybe I'll just wear Port Royal.

    Scent for Halloween?

I wore Third Charm yesterday. Today I have Sonnet D'Automne on as a calming post-holiday scent. (:

Halloween In The Miskatonic University Library

When I went to NYCC, this was one of the first blends I tried. On my skin it smelled deliciously sweet, a tad green, a bit woody, and there was a hint of cologne. It was amaaaazing. I bought a bottle and I was the happiest girl in the world. But then I tried it on the next day, just a little dab, and what did I get? Acrid smoke and dust. And it wasn’t a nice dust like the dust notes you get in other blends, this was like actual dust, the sort of dust you find under your bed or behind the couch and it makes your throat itch and you can’t stop sneezing. It was like someone took dust bunnies and shoved them in the bottle and shook it around to blend it. I had a massive negative reaction. Still, I put the bottle on my perfume shelf and told myself I should let it age and try again. First I let it age a week, and when I tried it again it was the same. I almost made a sales page just for this blend right then and there but I stayed my hand. It’s been about a month since then. Let’s give it another go. In the bottle: Eugh, smoke and dust. So gross. Skin, you better rectify this. Wet: Still acrid smoke and dust, but with something pleasant breaking through, thank goodness. Drydown: There’s that sweetness I fell in love with! Finally! The dust and smoke have faded significantly but I still feel they’re there, whiiich I’m not too pleased with. I think it might just be a psychosomatic sort of thing (if that's even the right word to use), but recognizing it as such isn't making the feeling go away. Boooo. Dry: The sweetness deepens and there’s a rich sort of woody edge to it now. But there’s also plastic, much like the type I experienced in Miskatonic University. That plastic ruined MU for me. It might be the coffee, or hazelnut. Further on: It gets much warmer, the sweetness is still hanging out, the oak is still richly lingering, and the smokiness comes back a little but it’s not death like in the bottle and wet- it’s actually pretty pleasant. Almost flavorful. I think I’m catching the latte, too. Like, foamed milk. Yum. However, like with the smoke/dust earlier, I can still feel the plastic in there and it’s kinda ruining everything. >:-( I'm not sure how I feel about this one now that I've done a proper test. That gross smoke/dust combo and the dread Miskatonic plastic are playing mind games with me. The blend isn't all that bad in the end, really, but I'm not sure if this is worth keeping in the long run. You know what, I'll keep it for now but if those death notes don't take a hike by Halloweenie season next year then this is getting swapped or sold. [EDIT] Last tried this in November- now it's March and wow, what a change! This is richer now, with no plastic and minimal dust. But I don't think it's really *me*. Also, it's getting a bit less pleasant at it dries. Still way better than it was in November, that's for sure!

    Autumn and Winter

Got a tester from Dark Alice (: Imp: Medicinal and leafy. Not all that pleasant but I never judge a blend by its vial. It could still be a winner! Wet: Soapy aquatic. Not a fan at all. Where are the leaves? Drydown: Good, the aquatic goes away and gets replaced by sweet incense. Dry: Still sweet incense, but with cool air. The aquatic returned but luckily it's in the background. Further on: It gets a bit musky, which is nice. Eventually there's s faint hint of leaves but it's hard to catch unless I concentrate. Overall, I'm fairly disappointed with this blend. It does smell pretty nice after the wet stage but it's not all that autumnal. I wanted leaves and barely got any. ): Such a shame, especially since I've wanted to try this one for ages and thought it would be fantastic.

    The Lurid Library

Got a frimp of 2012 from Dark Alice! Lurid Library is a gorgeous blend. It's wonderfully sweet and perfumey with a thin layer of dust and musk. "Vintage perfume" is a pretty apt way to describe it. I'm not getting much book/paper, although I can feel that it's in there. I should be disappointed about that- it was the "tomes" part of the description that called to me- but I honestly don't mind! The longer it's on, the dustier it gets. But it's a good sort of dusty. It doesn't make me want to sneeze and it isn't powdery. It's like the dust absorbed some of the perfume that was in the old, vintage bottle. The musk is also taking on a warmth that makes me think of skin. It's almost like I'm smelling perfume on someone else's skin. I know that sounds kind of weird but it's actually very lovely! The thing that's killing me is that I tried it on during Comic Con, but only after my hands and arms were already smeared with all sorts of different oils. When I put Lurid Library on I guess it didn't mesh well with something else and it didn't smell all that great so I didn't get a bottle of it. I should have tested Lurid Library first! Nevertheless, I'm glad I was able to do another test on clean skin. Thanks, Dark Alice! I need to get my hands on a bottle of this one for sure.

    Vespillo

Got a frimp of this from Dark Alice! Looking at the notes, this blend didn't look like it would be anything spectacular, but I put on a dab a little while ago and it blew me away. I had to put on more and give it a review! The patchouli leapt out at me straightaway and it smelled amazing. This is the most well-behaved patchouli I've ever come across in a bpal blend. My skin and patchouli usually don't have the best relationship- they either get into screaming matches or they're coldly cordial or they don't speak to each other at all. This patchouli, however, is lovingly embracing my skin. I usually compare patchouli notes to my beloved woodwick patchouli candles and this patchouli smells almost exactly like it does in the candles. I'm so happy with this! And the sage is wonderful, too. I'm not all that new agey but I'm getting this wonderful feeling from the sage, like I'm being cleansed. There's a sweetness from the neroli and a hint of spice from the clove. The florals are very faint but add a certain depth to the blend. The longer this is on my skin, the sweeter and warmer it gets. I usually don't have such an instantaneous positive reaction to the blends I get. This blend was such a surprise! I'm so happy Dark Alice frimped me this. I'm absolutely getting a bottle of this.

    Badgers

Got a decant of this from Dark Alice! I just got it in the mail this afternoon and I was going to wait a week or two for it to settle before testing it but I couldn't resist! Badgers is a yummy golden brown scent that's mostly a seamless blend of honeysuckle and French vanilla with soft leather hiding shyly behind it. There's also something else in here- something that smells very good- that I can't identify that's becoming more prominent as it dries- it's probably the sarsaparilla, which is a note I'm not familiar with. I'm not really catching the patchouli, although there's a suggestion of it. Overall, Badgers is warm and sweet and so very pretty. It has a great depth to it and it's very evocative. I have a feeling this will become even better once it settles. I especially hope the leather becomes bolder!

    Jareth

Got a frimp of Jareth at NYCC! Like everyone else, I am a huge fangirl of Jareth, so I was really happy to get a frimp of this. In the imp, Jareth smells like tea with a bit of citrus and spice. Nice, but nothing to call home about. However, on my skin, Jareth becomes beautiful. It's an ethereal, shimmering, gleaming, otherworldly beauty. I can barely pick out the notes, they're blended so well- all the notes are swirling together into a gorgeous cologne that both lifts my spirits and breaks my heart. Oh my gosh, I love this. My only complaint is that he clings to me. I wish there was more throw! To be honest, I think it would be better on a boyfriend than on me, but this blend just does something to me, y'know? Smelling it brings all these wonderful feelings and images to mind. I think I need a bottle!

    Third Charm

Bought a bottle of this at Comic Con yesterday! Based on the notes, Third Charm was something I never would have thought to buy (not that I don't like the notes, they just didn't really catch my eye), but hey, there was a tester in front of me so why not test it? A few minutes later I decided I needed a bottle. Third Charm is very well-blended so it's difficult to give an in-depth review of the notes, though if I concentrate I can pick out the honey and patchouli and incense. Also, the patchouli in here isn't going wonky on my skin like it's wont to do in other blends (looking at you, Samhain), which is pretty much the best thing ever. Overall, it's a warm, softly sweet, gorgeously complex blend that somehow manages to be very autumnal to me. I'm so glad I have a bottle of this.

    Spanish Red Carnation

Got this as a freebie in a decant circle order! This is a scent I never would have thought to get on my own but I am so glad it got frimped to me. My skin loves spice and most florals smell good on me so naturally this smells amazing. It's spicy and floral and a tad green and I can't keep my hand away from my nose, haha. My only problem is that my skin is eating it up! It's been on for only fifteen minutes and already it's faded. I'm hoping it's just being shy right now- I did just get it today, after all! Maybe once it settles it'll last longer and be even spicier. (: That would be fantastic.

    Samhain

I literally just got a decant of 2012 in the mail and had to slather it on asap. I know the scent might change a bit once it settles but I just couldn't wait! In the imp: Sweet, autumnal, and a bit chilly. Very nice! I think I'm catching the apples and a bit of that dark patchouli. Patchouli is a weird note on me- I like patchouli (I have a patchouli candle lit right now) but I'm not sure about it being on my skin. Here's hoping it's a tame note! Wet: Delicious apple and leaves and mud with a hint of spice and something perfumey. Oh, this is lovely. Dry-down: Noooo, is that the patchouli? And it's getting very powdery, too. ): Come on skin, you always amp spice! Why aren't you amping the spices??? Dry: It's a somewhat medicinal powder with an acrid tang of smoke. If I sniff hard enough I can almost catch mud and leaves but they're not strong enough to be caught in the throw. Oh dear, how disappointing. Samhain, we were supposed to be bffs. ): Still, it feels like it has the potential to be a great scent- even with the gross powder it still smells autumny somehow. I'm going to keep this and see how it ages. I mean, if anything, it might just need a little time to settle down. I'll also see if it reacts to my skin chem differently at different times (aka time of the month, when I work up a sweat, etc). I'm determined to love this scent, even if it takes years. Of course, if all else fails I can use it as a room scent or in a bath or something. It really does smell lovely in the imp.

    The Vine

Bought a partial bottle from Babypopje! In the bottle: Warm, ripe, juicy pears! It took all my willpower not to put the bottle to my lips and take a drink, haha. This scent is so deeply, truly like pears. Wet on my skin: Pears- sweet, juicy, and delicious. Much brighter and sweeter than in the bottle but just as yummy. Dry-down: The honey emerges, but it's not overpowering. In my mind I see pear slices drizzled with honey in a cheery white bowl with a bright green trim on a table in a sunny garden. This blend is so cheerful! Dry: Sweet, creamy pear. The vanilla is very faint but the creaminess is definitely present. The honey melds with the creaminess and creates such a gorgeous balance with the pear. There's just the right amount of creamy, juicy, sweetness radiating from my skin. Further on: The scent becomes warmer and more clingy. It's a little bit like candy, probably because the honey is making a comeback, but it's not bad at all. I love thiiiiiiis. I was worried because when I first tried it on last week I put on a dab and it was a sickening honey-pear candy, but it was also a certain time of the month. My period is not a fan of fruit and honey! I think this blend is going to get a lot of love when spring rolls around.

    Imp

Got this as a frimp from a forum purchase! So, before I begin, I just want to say I dabbed some on last week and it made me gag- I like sweet but the sweetness here was a little too much. It was like I smeared melting, sticky peach candy and honey on my wrists and it gave me a terrible headache. Buuut last week was a certain time of the month so I decided to give Imp another shot today. In the imp: Luscious, juicy peaches. At the same time I'm getting warm and dark color association- like gold or burnt orange in deep shadow. Perhaps that's from the patchouli? Wet: The peaches turn to candy like they did last week, but it's not as cloying. I'm getting peach hard candy, specifically. It's not all that bad but it's not really my thing. Dry-down: The candy mellows considerably, though it's still very much the dominant note. The amber emerges, as well as the musk. I'm not actually detecting any patchouli but I can feel that it's there, if that makes any sense. The emergent notes are keeping the sugary sweetness at bay. Dry: The candy regains some strength while the other notes seamlessly blend together into a pleasant grounding agent. The image that comes to mind is a shadowy gold cloth covering a bowl of hard candies. Overall the scent is much softer. Further on: The candy is dissapating more and more. It smells soft and fairly nice while still being peachy. I think I'm catching the patchouli now, too. To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about this blend! I can't stop sniffing myself but at the same time I know there won't be a bottle in the future. I'm definitely going to keep the imp around, though. I think I need to do more tests!

    Sugar Cookie

Affectionately nicknamed 'The Devil's Bake Sale'. Got an imp of the 2011 version from OrangeBlossom05! When I saw that other reviewers were saying the 2011 version had a lot of spice, I knew I had to get this- my skin chem adores spice. In the imp: Wow, this is boozy. It smells a bit like egg nog with a dash of nutmeg added on top. Yummmm. Wet: Raw cookie dough!!! Oh my god, I am seeing a warm kitchen in the evening, snow falling outside the window, while hunks of cookie dough lie on a cookie sheet, waiting for the oven to preheat. It's taking all my willpower not to nom on my wrist! Dry-down: The spices surge forward. It's like I snatched some of the raw dough to eat because I could no longer resist and when I tore off a chunk it released the smell of the cinnamon and nutmeg. Dry: It's almost all warm, delicious spice, with that hint of cookie dough sweetness in the background. This is so yummy and perfect. This blend and my skin are like a match made in heaven! I love how evocative of Christmas this is, too. I need a bottle!

    Sonnet D'Automne

Got an imp from the lovely Babypopje! I am obsessed with Autumn and this is my first Weenie ever. Here goes nothing! In the imp: Dead leaves! Oh my god, it smells exactly like dead, dry leaves with tendrils of incense wafting over them. So evocative and gorgeous. Wet: Such sweetness! The vanilla and cocoa are coming out to play and they are mingling nicely with the leaves and incense. Oh, this is yummy. Dry-down: The scent becomes very green and mellows quite a bit. I would call it ethereal if it wasn't grounded by the white musk. Honestly, I'm picturing powder, like sparkly scented powder on a bed of dead leaves. But I don't know if I'd describe the scent itself as powdery. The powder in my mental image might be snow, actually. I can't quite tell how cold this scent is, though, since I'm sitting outside in the cold as I'm typing this. Dry: Sweet and soft and pretty, but still earthy due to the musk and amber. Unlike the earlier mental image, I can see the hard ground now, where the leaves and powder are resting. I can also detect the vanilla amidst the delicious cocoa. Vanilla smells decent on me generally but sometimes it takes on a weird generic-sweet quality. The vanilla here smells truly like vanilla. The leaves aren't all that prominent but they linger tantalizingly in the background. Verdict: LOVE LOVE LOVE! My skin amps sweet and sometimes blends I try can be almost sickly sweet and headache inducing but the sweetness here is absolutely perfect. And the earth and leaf and musk notes add so much to the blend overall. I love this as a perfume and I think it'd be amazing as a room scent or even in a scent locket (note to self, get a scent locket!). This is a winner for sure and I need a bottle asap! [Edit 10/3/12] I'm wearing this again today and now that I'm sitting somewhere with a comfortable temperature, I have to say I can't figure out if this scent is warm or cool! I keep sniffing my wrist and sometimes I get chilly autumn coolness and other times I get cozy, warm sweetness. It's like I'm sitting outside in a cold, dying forest and wrapped snug in a scented blanket. Goodness, I adore this blend!

    The Last Unicorn

Received an imp from OrangeBlossom05! I've been curious about the Last Unicorn for ages now, and I must say, it's a very interesting scent. It smells so soft and etheral and green in the imp. On my skin, though, the coconut comes out and it's somewhat plasticy- I can recognize it as coconut but I think if I didn't know what it was I would label it as Play-Doh. The florals, however, are gorgeous, and if I concentrate I can smell the chocolate and sandalwood. I think I am also catching whiffs of lettuce but it's hard to tell. If there's oakmoss and orris root, then it's either well-blended or my skin rejected it. If this scent were a color, I'd think of it as a soft, hazy green and purple, like you'd see in an old, enchanted, lilac-dotted forest. It's a very pretty scent but it's not quite what I was hoping for. The coconut is a bit too distracting. I'm glad I have an imp but I don't think I'll be getting a bottle.

The Last Evening of the Year

Purchased a decant from OrangeBlossom05! I have been dying to try this scent since December and I am so excited I can test it! I literally just got it in the mail, haha. In the imp: It's very chilly! I haven't experienced the snow note before but I believe that's what I'm picking out. It smells lovely. There's also a hint of pine and I think I can detect the tea rose, though it's very faint. I think there's cinnamon, too. Wet: Linens! Clean, fresh linen, how I adore you! There's a quality to the linen that makes it creamy- perhaps the florals? The linen notes I got in Windward Passage reminded me of a bathroom by the sea but this linen definitely has a creamy, wintery quality and doesn't bring up the image of a bathroom. More like linens piled up next to an open window in a living room in December. Dry-down: Oh yum, the snow note is coming back. It's so fresh and chilly, I can't stop huffing my wrist. Dry: It gets a bit musky. Must be that skin note. It's quite beautiful and it deepens the scent nicely, and definitely brings to mind a snowy evening. The rose is also noticable now, but it's nice and light. Linen is still the key player. Further on: It sweetens and the snow and rose and musk are making themselves more prominant. I think I caught a whiff of dust, too. Linen is still queen, though! It's absolutely gorgeous right now. I am so pleased with this! If scents were people, I would marry this one, not even kidding. I'm so happy right now, this scent is everything I hoped for. I need a bottle of this!

    Windward Passage

Imp from cyndaelle! Imp: Somewhat salty and soapy (but in a good way!) aquatic with a tang of something I can't place. Image that came to mind was a bathroom with dark blue tile with an open window overlooking the sea and bright blue sky. Wet: Linens! Fluffy, freshly laundered light blue and white linens brought into the bathroom. I love the smell of linen so I'm in heaven. Drydown: The scent deepens, but it's hard to really describe. Image is that same bathroom only the sun is setting. I can't accurately tell you how the scent itself changes but while it's still definitely clean soap and linen it's... I don't know. It's more sophisticated? Goodness, this is more tricky than it ought to be. Dry: Still that deeper sort of linen scent intermixed with a somewhat salty aquatic and a suggestion of that tang from the imp. Not much throw. Image now is the sun just below the horizon, when the sky hasn't gone full dark yet. Overall: Very clean and very nice. I was expecting it to be more like the ocean and sea air but smelling predominately like clean soap and linen is fine with me! Just wish it lasted longer.

    Ouija

Received an imp of this from cyndaelle! Imp: Cool and minty with a hint of smoke and wood. Wet: Spearmint with a light floral and even lighter wood. It's like a cold, dusty parlor room with the window cracked open letting in a chilly draft that stirs the dried flower petals scattered on a lace-draped table. Dry-down: The scent becomes very warm! The spearmint takes a back seat to the florals and rose is the most prominent at this stage. It's as if a parlormaid came in with fresh flowers and shut the window and lit a fire. If I concentrate hard enough I can smell the smoke and wood from the fire and the dust that's coating the mantelpiece. Dry: The scent cools quite a bit- perhaps the window didn't latch properly and the draft has put out the fire. The florals become more rounded. Now I can smell the lilac along with the rose and something sweet and otherworldly- the osthmanthus? There are also faint wisps of smoke and the idea of wood and dust. It's somewhat powdery but very pretty. The longer I wear it the softer and sweeter it becomes and it clings closer and closer to me until there's a merely a faint suggestion of sweetness on my skin. Oh, if only it lasted longer!

    Djinn

Received this imp from the lovely cyndaelle! Djinn is a blend that I've been curious about. I've never tried a smoke or fire blend before so I figured this would be a good first. In the imp, it was sweet smoke with an acrid tang, something sharp and lemony. Perhaps there was also a hint of ginger? And there was a quality reminiscent of citronella or Vicks VapoRub, which was not entirely unpleasant. There was also the suggestion of dead leaves. It was very complex and interesting. Wet it was at first very much like cool autumn air and leaves. Then the Vicks got amped but it morphed into something strongly sweet with a pleasant lemon tang. I couldn't stop huffing my wrist. Dry-down it was sweet and light and creamy, almost mouthwatering. There was some sort of hint of herb or spice but it was so smoothly blended that I couldn't pick anything out. Mint? Sage? Cinnamon? Not sure, but it was delightful. As it lingered on my skin it morphed quite a bit. It was like a kaleidoscope of pleasant scents and I was very surprised. I tested this at work today and I was taking notes throughout the day of how the scent morphed. My notes were: -Sweet incense wrapped in green. -A pine-needle-fed fire pit long after the flames have died down. -Sweet, creamy smoke wafting through a cedar forest. -Sweet grass dusted with vanilla sugar. -Pepper and eucalyptus and cinnamon. -Vanilla and sweet incense. I've never had a blend morph so much before. I didn't mind it one bit. Overall, through every stage, I found this blend to be very comforting and wistful. I never knew my skin chemistry amped sweet so much either but I have such a sweet tooth that it isn't too surprising that I have sweet skin, haha. As much as I adore this, I don't think I'll get a bottle. It's much too distracting- I barely got any work done today because I couldn't stop sniffing myself! I think I may horde a few imps, though, for those days when I have the leisure to go on a scent adventure.

    All Souls

Got an imp of the 2007 version from cyndaelle. (: All Souls has a warm, round sort of nutty sweetness in the imp. Wet on my skin the sweetness is predominant but there’s an unfortunate plasticy edge to it. I’m not sure if that’s from the incense or the currant note. Luckily, as it dries the plastic slowly fades and the sweetness becomes something like cake batter. Full dry it smells like cookies. It’s very light, however, so it isn't readily identifiable as such unless I put my nose close to my hand. From a distance it simply smells sweet. It’s a very pretty scent at this stage. I hope the plastic isn't a common occurrence because I really do like this blend overall.

    Port Royal

Got an imp of this from cyndaelle! This is a blend I’ve always wanted to try since I love evocative blends. In the imp it’s spiced rum and wood and salt. Wet on my skin though the spice is amped to high heaven and it’s evocative, all right, but not of the Caribbean in the 17th century. Like others have noted, it smells like Christmas! It smells exactly like the place where we buy our Christmas tree every year. We pick out our tree and go to the little indoor shop to pay for it and there’s this lovely cinnamon-spice scent all around, mostly caused by the hot, homemade apple cider which they let their customers sample and the cinnamon incense sticks they have all around the counter. As it dries the spice is still front and center but light touches of wood and floral mellow it. There is also just a hint of salt air. It’s like passing by a port-side Christmas shop with its doors wide open in the evening. This wasn’t what I was expecting at all but I absolutely love it and definitely need a bottle of it in the future.
