    Switch Witch 2017

I'm so excited to join another Switch Witch, and happy to see so many folks I have swapped with in the past playing along! It's a week of high activity here so I'll be slowly catching up with all the questions that have been asked already. Yippee!!!!!!! Wishlists: Amazon Etsy Sock Dreams (and if this interests you at all, I'm a size 8 sock now) ThinkGeek Would you like one of the Halloween Teeturtle shirts? Nah just a wee bit too cutesy for my tastes. I like a little more edge I drink this stuff almost everyday would anyone else be interested in trying it out? https://www.criobru.com/ OMGosh this looks cool! How do you feel about indie makeup (read: loose eyeshadow, blush, highlighter)? honestly I wear so little makeup and even then so infrequently, it'd be lost on me What are your feelings about Scooby Doo? Loved it as a kid, not really now What are some NEW things you've gotten interested in this year? Could be anything, from a new hobby, new genre of book, new healthy way of living, new fav brand of whatever... Houseplants and succulents! Lost themm all years ago in a move during a blizzard and for some reason am only now geting more. I enjoy the nurturing they require but also a small time constraint lol. I even have a living cactus necklace Who is into K-Beauty (Korean beauty products like sheet masks) - What are your faves if you are? - If you aren't would you like to try something? Never had any but sheet masks sound interesting. I'm always open to trying new beauty products. Recently I've heard of bamboo salt soap bars and wanna try one. Any mask used to clean out your pores is great in my book How would you feel about receiving a hand-painted container for your bpal and/or other treasures? - would you want a big wood box (~50 bottles), a small wood box (~20 bottles) or a tin for carrying imps around? I actually have one for my BPAL already that I adore, from a previous swap. But I love small storage boxes in general so one for other stuff would be fun What are your coffee and/or tea preferences? - Coffee: whole beans or ground? - Flavor and roast preferences? NO COFFEE - Tea: black, green, herbal, flavors? - Loose leaf or tea bags? I love tea and drink it all, loose, bags, black, green, herbal. I'm in love with muacatal darjaleeings but they are hard to find - Anything specific you don't like? caramel notes - Are you in need of any gadgetry? Nope but I'd probably like a cool infuser Are you interested in anything from the Moonalisa Halloween update? All Hallow's Eve, Cedar & Patchouli, and Mabon all sound interesting but I would only like them in shower gels or shampoo, not perfume Have you seen this: https://www.bustle.c...llection-80733? Nah I'm too lazy to follow any lol Would you like something from Nui Cobalt Designs (https://nuicobaltdesigns.com/)? (https://www.sihayaan...lection-candles)? The Sisterhood of the Moon and the Ghosts of Ellicot City sounds nice Are there any hobbies or crafts you've been thinking of trying, but haven't had the chance yet? Of course lol. I'd love to visit the founders of the US at the time of the revolution. Such learned men at such a tulmutous time.....history has had its say but I'd love to know more about their emotional take on the great experiement they began. If you could invite 3 famous people to a BPAL meet and sniff, who would invite? Is Beth famous enough?!? Because her for her scent knowledge alone would be cool. Viggo Mortensen because he speaks like a dozen languages and is rather artsy and learned, and I find him a wee bit hot lol. And because I can't think of anyone else offhand, why not invite Ted along? He's hilarious! Do you like and/or want anything from Elements and Artifacts? I know, I know, I'm weird Like booze? What kinds? Yup. Whisky, rum Like Wine? What kinds? LOVE. Mostly red, but a good fruit forward reisling is awesome too. Particularly fond of port and I've had a couple meads that make me want to explore more meads. Would you be interested in a set of hand-made hair falls? It's something I do for fun and I can make any length and do an array of colors! No thanks For those who watch certain movies every year for Halloween, what are those movies, whether horror or not? Any favorite horror movies that aren't necessarily on the annual-viewing list? How do you feel about fan-made merch for these movies? Is there a new type of #divination you've been meaning to try, and if so, are you looking for the tool, a book on the subject, or both? Any particular style (crew length, knee high, anklet, boot, etc.) or fiber (wool, cotton, bamboo anything but wool, etc.) preference? I love novelty socks and wear anklets, crew, and mid calf. Am open to all fibers Would you be open to previously-loved books? Absolutely What about partial-full bottles of BPAL or BPTP? Of course So what are your favorite fandoms? Doctor Who and Star Trek Are you interested in anything from Think Geek? http://www.thinkgeek.com see wishlist above LOL Do you have something you wish you put on your original questionnaire/forgot to put/would like to add on to? Two strange things I haven't gotten around to getting myself and might not for a while but I want to try - that weird black peel mask that folks are all over and I can't remember the name lol and that Baby Feet foot peel Any additional misc. information about yourself you want your Witch to know? (I think this was on the survey, but again if there's something that you forgot...) Life is stressful right now and I'm having some health issues again so anything that helps me relax and escape is good If you could decorate your house (or one room) in any one theme, what would it be? Your answer can be as simple ("Star Wars" or "Baroque" or "Modern"), or complicated or a combination (e.g. Victorian Gothic) as you feel best fits. I'd kill to have a spare room to decorate with TARDIS theme Aprons: Do you wear them, do you want one? Utility, decorative, cooking or crafting? Hahahaha yes to all Do you like Broadway shows/music? If so what are some of your favorites and/or ones that you hope to see or listen to eventually? Would you like merch from your favorite shows or CDs from shows you want to listen to? Is there anything I can get my Witchee while I'm there? I can't think of anything? I'm going to Edmonton Expo this weekend (It's Edmonton's version of comic con). Would a witchee like anything from there? I have ever been to any of these cons. I really don't have an idea what's available? Feeling clueless lol Anything catch your eye from this site (globalgirlfriend.com)? There's some real cute things there! The sandstone scarf caught my eyehttp://www.globalgirlfriend.com/collections/scarves/products/sandstone-scarf as did this map bowl and this tote with the vintage sewing maching because I have two machines like that! In personal products, the shea butter and soaps all looked cool too Do you have any favorite, lesser-known stores? Especially ones that sell hand-crafted or independently made items. Chagrin Valley Soaps is the only one I can think of right now....though I have a great fondness for almost anything from ZIngermann's Imagine you're going to the most gigantic art & craft show imaginable, and money is no object - what kind of things would you gravitate towards and probably spend money on? Include as specific as you want to get! A rigid heddle loom and a spinning wheel! The dream items I WILL get one day. But also some cool roving to practice hand spindling, maybe some raw wool fibers. I have a pair of carders and am not afraid of dirty fleece, I've cleaned one before I am only a newb to spindling but I think I'd like to try a supported spindle too. I have a simple top whorl spindle See's Candy. My absolute favorite. They have special Halloween candy..any of these pique your interest?? Cinnamon Apple Scotch Mallows, Pumpkin spice truffles, pumpkinspice lollypops, caramel apple lollypops, or any other of their chocolates, etc? Oh yes, but I have soooo many already lol. And multipe sets of pencils and markers....... Witchees, is there anything that catches your eye at Animi Causa (https://www.animicausa.com/shop/)? Eeks! I love this site!! SO many cute tea infusers! I also adore the Lemoniere Lemon Juicer, the Nessie Family, the Mobi Lid, the Belle Fresh Pod, the Eggondola Egg Poacher, and the Penneli Garlic Peeler If I were to find an adorable autumnal/Halloween-y dish/flatware/etc. design, how many settings would be needed in your household? Well my place is very small so I rarely entertain. Honestly, one would do! Would my witchee like this to warm up the fall coffee cup?? https://www.truelemo...gory-s/1871.htm These look fantastic do you like to take baths? if so, do you like oils, salts, things that fizz, all of the above, none of the above? I do, but rarely indulge. Generally in very cold weather, but I just love the luxery of a good hot bath soak. I will use herbal infusions or milk baths, or salts. Very rarely I'll use a fizzy thing but those can be drying so not often at all but they can be so fun lol What style/make/etc of phone do you have? What about size of tablet? Laptop? Would you like decals, skins, or cases for any of these? iPhone 6+ but I have a case already and have no other mobile devices Are you interested in anything from Bath & Bodyworks? Which products and scents do you like? www.bathandbodyworks.com/ I have enjoyed their mint/eucalyptus products. Haven't really tried anything form them in quite a while I am possibly going to a crystal / gem show tomorrow. I can't afford expensive gem stones, but... What kind of crystals would you like? This will sound strange - but I'm lacking a true red or yellow crystal lol Pumpkin or Zucchini bread? Pumpkin. All the pumpkin things! Though I have never been known to turn down zucchini bread, I have had my fill lately from a coworker who planted zucchini this year What kind of homemade cookies are your favorite? Molasses crinkles but i really like buttery tender cookies with nuts in them. And Snickerdoodles. And anything chocolate. I guess I love most cookies lol Could you use a muscle rub? (We make ours on the lunar cycle and it has menthol, wintergreen, habanero, cayenne, olive oil, st. john's wort, arnica, beeswax, calendula, and ginger. It tingles. We call it "Thunder Butter". If you have really really super sensitive skin, I would recommend against it. And don't take a hot shower or open all of your pores before using it.) As intrigued as I am, I think this would irritate my skin so no Interested in trying some of our rose petal (rose petals, sugar, everclear) or lavender vanilla bean (lavender, vanilla bean, vodka) liqueur? Yes, though the lavender interests me most. I love all things lavender Want some honey from the bees on our property? Yes please!! I use honey regularly. It's the beginning of flu season so I'll need to make my elderberry syrup soon. I also have a homemade decongestant I make that uses honey. It works as a flu and cold deterrent/fighter as well so I like it on hand in winter Would you like somemade jam? I have blackberry, rose petal, strawberry rhubarb, peach, and cherry. I think I'd pass on this. I love the idea on wonderful flavor combos I see at farmers markets, but I am not really a preserve person in use How about some homemade candied jalapenos with garlic cloves? I have regular and with habanero. Yuck no! Sorry but while I love strong garlic, ginger, and spicy food, I am super sensitive to capsican heat and do not do hot peppers. I do like things like fermented garlic but without hot peppers I didn't dry any apples this year but I was thinking of heading over to Green Bluff and seeing if any honeycrisps are left. I have a commercial dehydrator so let me know if you are interested in any "Apple Crips" (as voodoocatwoman calls them!) I wash, peel, core, and slice before dehydrating. Sounds great! I love all the dehydrated veggies and fruit, and love when I come across good more naturally made jerky Do you need any kind of dice bag, tote, project bag, cosmetic bag, pencil bag, or whatever? I have lots of bag patterns and fabric. We make bags under the name Twinkle N Twilight. Or how about a couple of pillowcases? I always have use for tote bags. I don't drive, walk everywhere and carry groceries and the such. No need for a dice or cosmetic bag, and I have a few nice project bags for my knitting. Pillowcases are always fun do you collect the art cards that BPAL sends out? Any in particular that you are looking for or definitely don't need? I do! Nothing in particular I'm looking for, and too many to list what I have. I only have Banded Sea Snake from the new Carnival Diabolique Do you like this beautiful art, and she makes stickers and prints...SOOOO gorgeous: https://www.shannatr...om/paperprints/ Very pretty! Scarf/shawl? Hat? Bag? Anything? Colors? (Duct tape, chain maille, and scales come in colors.) Do you collect anything from SBUX like City Mugs, City Mug ornaments, City Cards, or Bearistas? Ruined Roses

White rose marred by oakmoss, Spanish moss, slippery labdanum, and gurjum balsam. Another amazing rose scent from Beth! I usually do not like florals, and until last year I HATED all roses with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. But something happened and while decanting for others, I discovered a few rose scents that I not only can physically tolerate without nausea, but that I indeed enjoy LOL. This is another. I really dig moss and oak moss and they add a great non-quite green but real earthy vibe to the roses here. While there is no mistaking the rose in here, I think those who prefer rose to be dominated by other non-florals will enjoy this one.

Eyes Made Strong and Grave with Sleep

OMG this is an immediate bottle purchase for me after a quick test. I prefer my chocolate and cacao notes to be supporting players rather than the main attraction, and this scent delivers. Rich, heady notes combine here to make one sexy scent!
  4. FragranceLush

    Gold and Tears

I was expecting so much more from this than I got wet, so was sort of disappointed, but after about 20 min I realized it had morphed into something I rather liked. I still have not been able to discern what, exactly, is carrot seed, and this confounds me, but the amber and musk combine here to make a gentle and comforting scent, rather like an old cashmere scarf wrapped around your neck to keep out the winter chill.
  5. FragranceLush

    Faces Cleaving Each to Each

I always love Beth's apple notes, but rarely wear any as they are too foody for my personal tastes. This is an exception, the other notes make it definitely apple but not at all foody to my nose. A lovely scent
  6. FragranceLush

    Practical Occultism

This was a real morpher! Started as straight up anise and cassia and honestly, I was surprised I didn't get pink marks from that strong cassia. The cassia calmed down a bit after the initial dry down to get a glimpse of the other notes, but I felt like I was walking around with a bowl of expensive potpourri, not wearing perfume. Later still the cassia came out full force again. This would be a great room scent, but just doesn't cut it for a body scent.
  7. FragranceLush

Once an order is placed, it is final.

Hadewig, the Lab and Post both are usually very good about refunding a postage in that case - though sometimes the refund is delayed a few days after shipping. If you don't see something refunded after a week, just shoot an email. I am sure they will refund you one of the shipping fees!
  8. Yeah, I generally shy far away from florals - especially rose! - but there are a few BPAL things that have amazed me. I ended up getting bottles of Hedylogos and Queen Venus, both of which have very noticeable rose notes. And I personally never consider lavender "floral", it is so astringent......and I love Somnus and TKO.
  9. FragranceLush

    Peninsula Fulminum

I really enjoyed this when I first got it, but ultimately decided that the vetiver was too strong for me personally and put my BNNU bottle on my sales page, while keeping the decant I had in another bottle. Well I tried this again today and the vetiver has already evolved into a much tamer beast, and the blend is so much more lovely than before! Definitely smoky, vetiver prominent, and all those "black" notes shine through to define the evocation of the scent, but I no longer think of this as necessarily masculine or a room scent. I am now keeping my full bottle and selling the decant! Also wanted to say that I think it is funny that, patchouli lover I am, I do not get patch in this at all. I know it's not listed in the scent notes, but other reviewers noted it. I think maybe it's that "black" evocation?
  10. FragranceLush

    Goatweed Leafwing

This blend whispers cuddles with a small furry animal more than stating flittering butterfly. To my nose it is lovely - well blended and hard to discern individual notes - but just too damn light. Damn. The same scent but stronger would make me very happy indeed, but even slathering I find it just too light.
  11. FragranceLush

    Eastern Comma

At first this smells orange - all fresh orange like when you open a ripe juicy orange and it's running down your hands before you can eat it, with just the faintest hints of something else in the background, if you really look for it. But after that orange blast settles down (and largely disappears), what's left is amazingly gorgeous hay/tobacco that is all win-win to my skin and nose both. There are a lot of great scents in this update, but this one is my fav by far.
  12. FragranceLush

    Question Mark

I wish I got more vanilla from this, because it is mostly the smoked and spiced aspects that stand out on me. Smoked, spiced tobacco. It's lovely, but I wanted more vanilla. And stronger maybe? This'll be a great skin scent, the kind that will make your sweetie say you smell great, not ask you what perfume you're wearing today.
  13. FragranceLush

    Southern Cloudywing

This one just makes me feel like I am wrapped in my favorite afghan, sipped a mug of hot yummy tea.....yet I don't get the emotional associations that foody scents usually give me. That's a good thing, as I don't generally like to smell like food lol. Quite comforting and gentle, like a hug from your sweetie

    Black Swallowtail

Weird - I usually like licorice in blends but this is all rich, heady florals to my nose - just the opposite of what everyone else is getting? Weird nose!

Switch Witch 2014: The Weenie Round

For simplicity's sake, I will just add my answers to any questions to this post, so they are all in one easy-to-find location. Can't wait to find out who my new witches is so I can commence spoiling her! To begin, some wish lists that may help give you a feel for my tastes - I am not always so articulate in words My basic BPAL wish list is linked in the signature line of my posts. http://www.pinterest.com/auntiezombie/ https://www.etsy.com/people/skeinbrain/favorites?ref=pr_faves http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/361cffcd59168c7 http://www.thinkgeek.com/brain/gimme.cgi?wid=820824a9c http://blackphoenixtradingpost.com/my-lists/view-wishlists/?wlid=2105 https://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/14E31R9E7788S#page=1 (this one looks empty, but the lists are listed on the left) http://www.adagio.com/pages/customer_profile.html?userId=459604CB Pumpkin? Yes please! In any form that does not involve coffee LOL. I do like it in my perfume oils as well, which surprised me to discover! But I don't like the foody pumpkin scents, just when pumpkin has been used as a note with other notes that are win for me, like resins and patchouli and such. I have a few, like The Changling and Pumpkin I and Pumpkin III. Tea? I think the whole coffee/tea thing was cover in my questionnaire - I cannot do coffee in any form, I don't go near coffee in stores. Make me ill to smell it. But I am an avid tea person. I drink mostly green teas, I love trying new flavors. I also drink a lot of herbal teas. I most get loose teas to brew at home. I love the Tea House, Mountain Rose Herbs, Adagio, and Teavana but am willing to try any tea you think is good! I adore a strong Earl Grey (my favorite is a smoky one from the Tea House) and have been getting into Pu-Erhs (sp?) lately. I use loose teas most often but bags are fine, and great for taking to work. Trading Post? I love the post! Have a bunch of hair glosses that I adore. I really would like to try more of the GC bath oils, for the scent. I find their candles not so good, but then I dabbled in candles and really expect a lot. There was just no throw and hardly any scent in the two I bought. Others have said just the opposite, so I think it's an issue of inconsistency due to lack of testing each scent individually - which yes, has to be done. Anywho, I have smelled some real lovely atmos but I just don't use them, so they'd be a waste on me. Except Balefire. I actually decanted that one for a circle, but hadn't reserved a decant for myself, and then money issues prevented me from ordering. I LOVE that scent! And I really wish they had incense! Canned Goods? Pickles? Adore them! And I would love mild salsa, but can't do hot peppers. I can't eat jalapeño poppers. I am a wimp. Peppers floor me, despite the fact that I nibble on crystallized ginger, and make a homemade decongestant by throwing in the blender red onion, garlic cloves, radishes, peeled lemons, ginger, and raw local honey. And while I have loved jams sent to me by others, I need to cut down on sugars and breads both, so that might not be a good idea. And bring on the gluten-free baked goods! I adore all squashes. Makeup? I rarely wear makeup and it would be wasted on me. I do appreciate good hand creams made from natural ingredients, and adore natural lip balms. I also have moral issues against the big synthetic chemical pushers like Avon..... Candles? I rarely burn candles, and am so picky about them, that it would be too troublesome for someone to pick one for me! The exception would be some cool, more decorative one, like the carved ones, that a tea light can be dropped into. Or something more magically inclined Kitchen? I love to cook, and love and put to use kitchen accessories and textiles. I am trying to keep most processed foods out of my diet and I eat a lot of whole foods - quinoa, legumes, veggies, seeds, nuts. Some fruit. Healthy fats. Got off the bandwagon and not only gained a lot of weight but my inflammation went up, so I'm back on for the most part. Cooler weather needs to come so I stop going to Culver's for ice cream Creative Endeavors? Love them! I am very crafty myself, though I have so much around I really don't need supplies. But I would love any drawings or wall art type things from someone else, especially if it's to do with owl or Hectate. Handcrafted creativity is a win-win! Art Commission? I would really love a drawing or painting of a phoenix, and of course any owl stuff Hobbies? Free Time? Crafts! Lately it's been mostly knitting. I love wool yarns and luxury yarns like yak or quivet, but those are no doubt too pricy for this swap LOL. And I think I have most needle sizes at this point? I could use a real good storage roll for all my double point needles. I have intended to make one for years and just don't get to it.....I also read a lot and am starting to get into history and biographies more.I also am a nature lover and love to get out and walk about in woods and such. And cooking! Love to try new foods and flavors, at home and out Gaming? Nope, sorry Movies? I tend to not re-watch many movies, and really don't want to store them Favourite internet meme, character or pop culture fandom? Doctor Who - I watched my first episode earlier this year and have now caught up with all the "new" series episodes. I have started watching the original run from the beginning as well, and am on the 3rd doctor but have been having issues getting them from the library so I am starting to get them online So, yes - a fan here! Facebook? My account there is really for strictly keeping in touch with out of town family, and following the health community. I don't have time to post regularly or use it in the usual social media way What kind of snacks or candy from other countries/states would you like to try? I have had green tea Kit-Kats and they were great! Would be interested in other flavors too. I would love to try some musk lolls from Australia. Really, any regional specialties (even regionally within the US) that are unusual, are right up my alley. I love to try new things gastronomically and am more adventuresome than most in that arena. I also have wanted to try a handful of just real basic candy bars from the UK - nothing real special. I have read that their candy bars are much less sweet than ours here, and just really different. Good chocolate is made everywhere and I know how to get it, but I am curious about this "regular" chocolate from the UK. And I 've had some cool chip/crisp thingies from Canada that were Indian is taste, dunno what they were but they were great! Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing? I can get into it Like logic puzzles, not so much riddles I guess, treasure hunts sound cool If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions? Either is great, I love music and being exposed to new stuff How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? Love the idea, if it's something small and portable, a talisman or crystal or some such Are YOU superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason--bad associations? Not really, though overtly Christian stuff gives me the heebie geebies (long story, traumatic associations) Apple? Love it as a natural flavor but generally not the artificial kinds, and usually too foody in perfume. Fiber aversions? I believe from my reactions that I am allergic to angora. I also only like mohair when it's mixed with something else, like wool or silk, and isn't the main fiber. I generally don't like the feel of acrylic and tend to shy from it as the main fiber as well. I am all about cotton, wool, alpaca, and bamboo, as well as all the more exotic fibers like cashmere, silk and linen lol Christmas/Yule ornaments? Yes please and funny you should ask, as I was thinking od something in that vein to make for my witchee as well, ha! Hello Kitty? Meh. I mean, it's cute and all, just don't really want HK stuffs about If you had a week free where you could learn anything, with no financial restrictions, what would you want to study? Spinning - I have tried with a drop spindle but I think I need instruction LOL I also would love to get a wheel one day Poetry? I love poetry, but I am rather daft about it. I get Shakespeare's sonnets, but there's stuff I love the sound of that I always feel I am missing part of it? ee cummings annoys me. I like humanist, nature oriented, or spiritual stuff. Neruda is something I've wanted to pick up for a while and haven't gotten around to yet Disney? nah, seems a bit childish to me. I like the movies but don't want the "stuff" kinda the way I feel about Hello Kitty How do you feel about cute things as decorations or accessories? Cute usually isn't my thing, I am more into folk or elegant or, for Halloween, creepy. The stationary that was linked? Hated it. What is something you'd really like to receive from your witch? This is hard, because there is nothing specific - it spends on my witch, their talents and funds and such. But I love unusual flavors in edibles, love handcrafted treats say from a nice confectionary or off Etsy. And I really dig hand crafted things in general. If my witch feels comfortable making me something, I would LOVE that. If not, something handcrafted by another would be cool. And I guess at least one little munchie? Cause I am cutting down on my goodies/sweets and might not get any if they aren't a gift roflol RCCC? Not really my thing, but I leave that up to my witch's discretion. I'm not sure what all is available at such gatherings lol Most recent music listened to? Ha, I'm weird: Not While I'm Around - Barbra Streisand Papa Was A Rollin' Stone - Chris Ardoin & Double Clutch Put a Little Love In Your Heart - Dolly Parton Rich Girl - Hall & Oats Proud Mary - Ike & Tina Turner The Rubberband Man - The Spinners If Everyone Bought This Song - Brent Morgan Walk Me Down To the River - Deidre McCalla That's All the Lumber You Sent - Kathy Mattea Wish I'd Been Here - Danielle Spencer Tarot cards, rune stones and/or other divination tools yay or nay? Love them, but I already have a cool rune set that was made for in from a past SW round. I collect tarot decks though and would love a pendulum - but not real knowledgable about other types of divination Random thought? I know zilch about astrology but would really like to learn, dunno where to start. I'd LOVE to get my natal chart done sometime, somewhere.....I know I was born in Chicago on December 16, 1964 at 11:31 a.m. but I don't know what to do with that info LOL Do you have a Celeb crush? I am sort of thrilled by any movie featuring Russell Crowe, and I adore Viggo Mortensen, but I am not a crazy crusher by any means Glitter? are you okay with it, or hate it like the plague? Ambiguous. Love the look, hate any falling off things If there was another time period other than now that described your style/aesthetics, what would it be? probably early 20th century rural America If you had to pick one or two quotes to live by, what would it be and why? This one is always hard! I have started a compilation of quotes, and this one popped out at me today: 'Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.' ~ Nido Qubein but this one is cool too: A life spent making mistakes is better than a life spent doing nothing Do you prefer physical books? CD books? eBooks? If eBooks do you have preferred format, kindle/nook/kobo/PDF/ePub/ect? eAudio? preference for eBooks at this time, for my basic Kindle, but if it's cookbook or something visual, I need a hardcopy. No audiobooks, please. Smut! Yes or no? If yes, what kink, er, kind? Eh, it's ok but not something I really desire If you were to get a custom bottle from House of Gloi made for you what notes would create your perfect blend? Seriously, I really don't want any perfume oils except from BPAL. I am very open to trying other companies toiletries, but not the perfume oils If your witch were to take a photograph (or paint or whatever) of something just for you, what would it be? Landscape? Flower? Critter? Something to illustrate a favorite quote? nature stuff is best, landscapes or closeups of flowers...though I do have a thing for chickens, as well. And owls. Can never go wrong with owls, unless they are just too cutesy What is your favorite Halloween animal or other symbol/decoration? Owls, ravens, the triple moon phase symbol Makeup, especially of the indie variety. Nail polish, nail wraps, eyeshadow, lipstick/gloss, etc. Y/N? Specific preferences (color, finish, product, brand, etc.)? Think we covered this? But I am still interested in trying some Aquarelle nail polish, haven't gotten around to that yet. I did get some Zoya and like that, but I don't wear polish too often! How do you feel about profanity and off-color humor? I prefer to limit it largely, and use it solely when needed LOL LARP? Nope, don't even know what that is, though I'm thinking some sort of role play perhaps? Never exposed to that sort of thing. Curious, but really no way to get into it without knowing others who do LOL Would you completely freak out if I sent you a chocolate covered scorpion or some other food oddity? This includes things like 'bacon powder' from thinkgeek.com I think that sounds uber cool LOL Not sure about bacon powder per se, but chocolate covered bacon is a dream of mine. When looking at hints to beef up wish lists to help wight he what does she like? of SW, I may or may not have added WAY too many edibles, many containing bacon. Bacon is good, why powder it? How do you feel about getting a special Halloween plush? Love the idea, I love plushes, though prefer those on the smaller side as I don't have a lot of room I'm in Japan, anything specific you might want from the land of the rising sun? Green tea Kit-Kats are great, but I have had them before so not a high priority. I like Japanese fabrics too Are there any GC scents that you know you love, but for whatever reason, keep putting off buying bottles of? Oh yes! Blood Amber, Lyonesse, and the Coiled Serpent I know not everyone likes Lush products, but if you do, which Lush items would you like to get from your Witch? I have had a few things from there before, but not real aware of their current offerings. I had the lotion & massage bars, liked those. Their shower gels are nice too I think. I like citrus or eucalyptus for showering in the morning to wake me up If you are ok with receiving t-shirts, what size are you, do you prefer tissue tees, normal crew tees, babydoll etc? I like tees! I generally go for a small or medium, depending on the fit. Babydoll style are great, but I have found the recent Post ones to not really be shaped at al and I don't know why they are called baby doll and cost more? Irks me, it does LOL. I love their older ones, shorter in the body (I don't want to show my belly but I am very short waisted) and more womanly shaped. But I wear regular crews or v necks as well - prefer v-necks. Haven't had any tissue tees yet, not sure about them? THINKGEEK! Ha, I learned of them from past switch witching and have a wish list above Zombies, yes or no? Cute zombies are good. I'm not into gore. Would you like arm warmers/fingerless gloves? If so, what length? just beyond the wrist, almost to the elbow, full sleeves? I've love some cute fingerless gloves! Keep meaning to make myself some and just haven't. I'd prefer just past the wrist a few inches. Do you feel a particular affinity for a specific animal/s? Owls, chickens/roosters, ravens, bluebirds. Weird - just realized those are all birds LOL. I dig cows. I have been slowly developing a like of hedgehogs lately - two customers in the past month came in to buy fabric to make bedding for their pet hedgehogs! And I like tropical fish. Paintbox? Only the cold-processed soaps, no glycerin ones please. How would you feel if your witch or a minion of your witch showed up in person at your house with goodies? Thrilled? Annoyed? Completely creeped out? Uncomfortable, but not because of the SW stalking aspect. That would just be so cool! But I live in a real small apartment and I literally sleep on my sofa couch - there isn't room to entertain anyone. I'd feel horrible if someone showed up and I couldn't invite them in for a cup of tea and whatnot. Do you have a ravelry account? Tell me about your yarn obsessions. I do, I'm skein brain there but I haven't used it much for anything other than pattern lists. None of my vast yarn stash is on there, nor have i been adding projects to it as I finish them. I was just thinking about that recently and I need to make better use of those functions! But a yarn obsession I do indeed have. I have SO many sock yarns I still need to knit up, it isn't funny. Another reason I can't entertain - there is no room for me and the craft supplies little alone another. I am just a sucker for real soft yarns, and I think alpaca is my all time favorite. So soft and not at all itchy! But I love bamboo too, and many wools. And yak. Yak is almost as nice as alpaca. The llama I've had was not so great but I'm not sure if it was that spinner or the fiber itself. I want to try New Zealand possum, even though it has to be mixed with wool or something. And one day I will get a skein of quivet, I will. And American Bison. Sigh. Yea, I have a yarn obsession. There are even a few colors on the planet that I do not yet own. This must be rectified, yes? Knitted Items? Think I've mostly answered this already, but love them as a rule! Love making dishcloths but not using the homemade ones, they take too long to dry Raw Cream? I am sure this wasn't asked by my witch since there was a comment about hard to contact LOL, but I am all about the raw milk movement. If we consume dairy, it should be raw - for both health and political and ecological reasons Heat tolerance! (as in spicy food): On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "gimme that ghost pepper!" and 1 being "oh, that's a bit too much black pepper for me" Where is your heat tolerance? Um, like, a 2 maybe? I love ginger strong enough to give heat, I eat raw onions and shallots and such, so I like spicy but not capsican heat from hot peppers. What is your favorite type of Halloween candy? those peanut butter taffy thingies. For years you couldn't get them anywhere, but lately I've found them at Walgreens. But that maple sugar candy sounds real yummy..... Would you like handmade stationary or cards? How about a quill pen? Nah, I really don't write than much to anyone anymore Hairsticks? Not sure I know how to make hem work, but I''d be interested in one of those metal bun thingies. Thought I said this before but I don't see it now so this may or may not be repeated info LOL Do you need or want any cosy footwear, like fluffy slippers, or slipper socks etc? I have a few slipper socks for sleeping in, as my feet get cold. I'd love a new pair of warm slippers, but they have to be the kind that you can slip in and out of quickly, not the sock shape. Socks I always adore! I wear conservative black (I have to wear black pants to work) to goofy colorful ones Tim-Tams? These are good. I amber curious about the Turkish Taffy ones for some odd reason, as I just don't understand. I know what a Tim-Tam is, and what Turkish Taffy is. The mix sounds - odd and intriguing Would you be disappointed to get one big box, or would you prefer a bunch of little ones? And would you be disappointed if your witch actually had it together early and sent it to you sooner than later? I think whatever works for my witch is best. I have a slight preference for several smaller packages, and at least something toward the end of the round -- but it is only a slight preference. Do what works for you! Stores are putting out their halloween PJs and undies! Would you be happy to get any in a package? And if so, what size? For PJ pants, do you like cotton or flannel? I live in flannel jammies as soon as the weather cools! Size small would do. M&Ms? they are ok but I'm not really into them. I prefer better chocolate without so much chemical crap. Wax Melts? Did I answer this? LOL Dunno. They are fine if more essential oils scented than fragrance oil, I have a burner but rarely use it. I was really into Yankee Candle years ago before all the chemical sensitivity crap started. I am much less sensitive now but I want to keep t that way by not overloading my system. Geesh, I'm starting to sound like a broken record here. I think you understand that whole thing by now LOL Pillows? Love nice ones but kinda cramped for space here, so not unless it's a real special one like you made it or something like that Bags? Purses? Totes? Oh yeah, bring them on Would you be interested in any of the items in LisaNut's etsy shop? Nothing there really struck me Knitted spiders? Eh, other knitted things more so,like a zombie or witch maybe? Sugar Cube Skulls? Those are really cool looking but alas I don't think they are practical for me. Or maybe that's the point of sugar cube skulls? If you imbibe at all ... preference between: wine/beer/cocktails and then glassware and/or bar-ware? cocktail gadgetry? Books on the subject/recipes? would you want sample bottles of local/regional/small batch craft spirits if they were home decanted and labeled? I do drink but not often, so I like to make it count when I do. I love red wines, and am really wanting to try some meads as of late. No need for glasses and cookbooks and such, got that covered. Local or home crafted sounds great. Couple rings? No, no one in my life right now to share with. Jamberry nail wraps? You know, I LOVE those spiderweb ones! I just don't know if I can pull them off? Never used anything like that, and I rarely wear nail polish to boot. My nails are rather short, and my cuticles aren't in great shape LOL but those spiderwebs would be great to wear at work the week of Halloween Would you like some chai, lemon, rose water or other flavored sugar cubes? Again, sounds yummy but I don't really add sugar to things, so probably not If you had to choose one currently available book (used-but-obtainable counts if you do used) costing $20 or under for your Witch to buy for you, what would it be? Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere Updates: I am good for butterflies, not interested in Fatherhood, and am waiting to hear what decants from Lab Weenies I indeed did get. My interest list and what I can afford to get are discrepant and I waited too long to sign up for decants LOL, so I might not get everything I want, but we'll see. I love seeing cool street art - on the street. If you could only pick one note that you love & you could only wear/have perfume, etc in that note, what would it be? Patchouli Caffeine is something I will consume, but generally try to avoid as it works medicinally toward my migraines, but only if I haven't been consuming it regularly. Turkish Delight? Loved it in the past but think it's too sugary now maybe? Or perhaps only in small quantities. Chocolate covered would make it better LOL Rose/violet flavored candies sounds good, but I'd prefer violet for sure. Chocolate bars? I keep trying to edge myself up in cacao %, but I am hovering around 50-60 at all time favorite, though I have thoroughly enjoyed up to 70%. As for add-ons, I think pistachios, cranberries, and cardamon would totally rock. But violet petals and earl grey tea sounds fab too LOL. Seriously, making your own combos is awesome and there should be a shop like that EVERYWHERE Charities? The American Cancer Society is one I support in various ways. Locally, I like to give to several members of the Chicago Wilderness - mostly, Friends of Bluff Springs Fen and Volo Bog. I make all my household and clothing donations to Wings, a local shop that supports shelters for women and children. Also, I like to make blankets to donate to Project Linus. I have two partial (Backup) bottles of some scents on your wishlist, Witchee. However, the labels aren't perfect, due to a tragic imp explosion. Would you still be ok with getting them? Absolutely! The oil is what counts, not the bottle. I do collect pretty bottle art, but that's not what gets a specific one on my wish list. Ever. Do you like incense? Or are you more of a fan of essential oil aromatherapy/fragrance oils a la Yankee Candle/B&BW? Or all of the above? What scents do you prefer for those kinds of things? Nag champa? Lemongrass EO for the house? PUMPKIN SPICE EERYTHANG. What companies do you like specifically (if any) - links? I love it all, but I do keep away from the synthetic chemicals (fragrance) and cheap brands. I burn incense from India, Japan, Tibet, and Nepal, as well as American ones. I use stick, cone, powder, rope, and loose incense, and I have blended some of my own as well. I have a good collection of essential oils - though I keep meaning to get oregano oil and never have yet. Not into candles much for scent - though I do adore real pretty ones for decoration. I have a wonderful electric incense burner, so there's less smoke and more scent in resins and such. I really dig the rich, darker resins. I adore oude. I usually buy online from Essence of the Ages, but I also love the online seller Mermade and the Etsy seller Phytognosis. My favorite brands from Essence of the Ages are Nu Essence, Happy Hari, Tennendo, dhuni, Baieido and Shoyeido, or anything really from the Tibetan and Bhutan monasteries. Trading Post Weenies are up!! What's everyone interested in? I am running a decant circle for those, so I am good there, unless you want to get me the Pine & Incense candle.....that one has me intrigued! My mom has crocheted a bunch of little witch hats, would this be something you are interested in? Nah. Sounds adorable but I wouldn't use them. Are you interested in anything from my mom's Etsy shop? https://www.etsy.com/shop/twinklespins Not really, but i can always use project bags! Just nothing currently there grabbed my attention. But something Doctor Who? I'd be all over it! Are you interested in dried honey crisp apples or italian prunes? OMG yesss!!!! Do you need any travel mugs, coffee mugs, tea makers, rock sugar, coffee or tea syrups, etc? Nope, I'm pretty set there.

Have there ever been any Bee themed Scents?

It came out before I discovered BPAL, but I have a bottle of Paduan Killer Swarm, I think it was part of a larger Swarm thread....
  17. FragranceLush

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

Oooohhh, thank you! That is indeed a good price, and they also have glass bath salt tubes which I may just have to get
  18. FragranceLush

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

Well several above specifically said that they order from that co, which is why I asked. There are a lot of places to buy them, that one seems the cheapest for those of us with large collections that like wand caps in all out bottles.
  19. FragranceLush

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

Those of you who order wand caps from ED Luce, what size are you getting? Nothing seems to match up to the 5 ml bottle….
  20. Don't panic yet - my month old order shipped today, and a bunch of others that ordered around the same time are just starting to trickle out. There's been a brutal backlog this last month but it looks like things are starting to roll, so hopefully in the next week you'll hear from them, if not the next couple days. It stinks, this waiting, but at least we know the final product is worth it

    Hesiod's Phoenix

I concur with hexatomic's comparison to IBT hair gloss BUT I am amazed no one has compared this to Tricksy yet. The oude here smells to me identical to the aquilaria aguillocha in Tricksy. Though I am a total patchouli ho, I do not miss it here, either - this is lovely and lasted all day on my skin. It's a gentle, comforting scent. I already have a full bottle on its way to me.
  22. FragranceLush

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I have two scents I got in a swap that have been put into roller ball bottles. I HATE them because it's impossible to get the amount of oil you want. It's either too little or too much. And it's sad because they are both great scents! I really like want caps myself, but plain lids work fine, too. It I was traveling with scent, I think I'd just use imps then, but I don't so it's not an issue for me.

    Switch Witch 2013 Spring

I think I will simply update this post rather than continually making new ones, easier for my Witch to follow me thinks.... When I did my questionnaire, I didn't add a few links cause I tend not to use them much (except for my library list, that one I use all the time and keep regularly updated). Not sure if it helps, but I'm adding a few here. Feel free to ignore them LOL!!! I certainly don't expect any one thing on these lists or even within these answers. It's just hat maybe in answering, something about me might be triggered that might help. Feel free to ask anything you might need clarification on. http://blackphoenixtradingpost.com/my-lists/view-wishlists/?wlid=2105 https://www.etsy.com/people/skeinbrain/favorites?ref=pr_faves http://nileslibrary.bibliocommons.com/list/show/81205459_goodbead/81208959_books_i_want_to_read https://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/14E31R9E7788S#page=1 http://pinterest.com/auntiezombie/boards/ Dr Who? Never seen it. I always have lip balm with me...and I make my own. I love trying out other handmade ones, Burt's Bees, and other types of rather natural balm. Scented is great but not too foody - balm shouldn't overpower the BPAL or make one hungry! Lip gloss that's not too gooey is great in sheer pinks and reds, perhaps a lighter plum or tawny color. My coloring allows for a lot of leeway in sheer colors. But I do sheer away from conventional brands due to all the toxic chemicals found in them. I am a BPAL snob, as they are the only ones who I NEVER react to......but I have been frimped some other perfume oils I have liked. I will one day perhaps buy a bottle of Violette Market's Black Apple if it never comes my way LOL. I also adore the Perfume Balms from Mermade Magickal Arts, the Mermaid is divine and worthy of Beth's followers. Adagio teas are great, and I love most any flavors. I just bought some cha cha and some rooibos earl grey. Would love to try any lavender or lemon flavors especially. I prefer green or herbal mostly, though I do black occasionally and I have used white when it's been gifted to me. I also love Teavana and The Tea Table. Coffee is Satan's work on Earth.I can't even smell the stuff without getting nauseous. That is all. Favorite female? Mmmmmm....I really like Claire from the Outlander series. I identified with Laura from the Little House books and Ozma from the Oz books when I was little LOL. Hecatate and Madame Curie would be inspirational women I relate to now. I don't identify with any of the Disney princesses. I mean, they make a great story, but that's it. I guess Snow White is kinda cool, as she lived with all those dwarfs for a while. Shows she had a bit of kink and a wicked sense of humor about her. I would love a seashell! Crafts? Currently I am finishing some pjs out of Chicago Bears flannel, trying to finalize the design of a bronze toned/insect themed necklace, trying to finish my cousin's knitted shawl before the weather gets cold again LOL, and the never-ending paper crafts. I want to make a 3D bus for my dad (he's a retired bus driver) as well. Rare BPAL? I guess more Banshee Beat. I have a partial bottle, but that isn't really enough. And I am not sure how rare it is, but Loviatar has been discontinued and I'd love to get a bottle of that. Kinky? I think not.....but some might. Normal ranges greatly LOL. I do collet glass dildos and they are not just for decoration I do enjoy scented candles BUT they must be made with real essential oils or plant extracts, not artificial chemical fragrances. I am obsessed with candles from White Magick Alchemy but they are sooo pricey I am afraid I am pretty ignorant about South Africa, but would love to go there or have things from there. I dream of being able to travel the world, everywhere! I am SO out of the loop, I only heard of Sockworks because of last fall's Switch Witch. I would absolutely adore getting socks from there! Anklets and mid-calf work best for me. Love cotton and wool best but anything goes except Angora - think I am allergic. I love lacy and novelty types. No need for hair accessories. My favorite shades of blue would be teal, aqua, and turquoise, but all color is beautiful to me. I love to cook and use my blender often. No kitchen gadgets per se but I use a lot of adaptogenic herbs and healthy additions to smoothies like hemp seeds, cacao nibs, ashwaganda, etc. New hobbies are my specialty LOL! I've always wanted to learn how to play guitar and take singing lessons. I already do beadwork, but I'd love to be able to add metalwork to my jewelry. I'd love to learn how to actually take the photographs I see in my mind when I look through the viewfinder LOL. And I have tried, but I think I need help learning how to spin, it's the one craft that eludes self-teaching for me. I also really want to learn a bit about art history one day. I have a definite sweet tooth, but I do not indulge it too often. Good quality dark chocolates, harder chewy caramels, and homemade marshmallows rate high on my loves. I like to try new things too, as I am something of a foodie. Because I don't eat much of this stuff anymore, I prefer to not get the more mass produced stuff. I own a Kindle Touch and would love getting books, but sadly I do not have a sense of what to guide you to title wise. I used to read voraciously but most my reading the last few years has been non-fiction. Most stuff that has come out in recent years I am not even aware of. I like well written things, a good story and griping emotional content. Would love to b surprised with some new authors. I am very crafty myself, and adore and admire craftiness in others. I am open to most anything you make for me or have someone else make! This includes any home baked items as well. I love playing real basic arcade video games, but find them to be rather addicting, so I avoid them most of the time. Srsly. Addicting. Can't tell you how many hours I spent on Tetris back in the day. I have a mah jong game on my computer right now that gets pulled out occasionally, and I was playing Luxor rather obsessively for a while before I switched to a Mac. I love the idea of games that make you think more, but have no idea what those would be LOL. My life is crazily about ritual and habit. Every morning, the first thing I do is have a glass of my home brewed kombucha, usually with a TBSP of homemade elderberry syrup in it. I either juice or have a smoothie every day, usually for breakfast or lunch. Every night I have either a glass of golden milk or some apple cider vinegar in water. I try to meditate at least once a day, and to get some exercise of some sort as well. I always take a few minutes to reflect and connect to my personal spiritual space as well, often at my alter.I find comfort in focusing on small stones, tarot cards, and images of nature that appeal to me. I often burn incense in such reflective moments. I haven't worn nail polish for years. My nails get a real workout at work and it never seems to last. In recent years I have wanted to occasionally wear it, but do not want the chemicals in so may brands. I would love to try some of the healthier ones like Aquarella, in pale or tawny pink or summery red, something not real intense LOL. You just can't get them in local stores and I haven't gotten around to ordering anything yet. One day. I love the look of crazier nail colors on others, not me and not at my age LOL. Three BPAL scents I have tried, but am dying to get more of would be Banshee Beat, Loviatar, and French Tobacco. Would sacrifice small furry insects for some original Spanked LOL. I almost never write letters anymore, because no one ever writes back! It's all electronic these days, sigh. I am not into Paintbox Soapworks, as I am a soapmaker myself and am much more picky than most. That company I think is all glycerine bars, which are actually detergent and not really soap. Also, they use a lot of artificial fragrance oils. I am so picky because I have RA and avoiding these toxic inputs has a lot to do with why I am in remission. Most folks can use them no problem, and I probably could for a while,, but it's the constant barrage of them in our society that creates a problem for me, so I control what I can. I know, I am weird, but it works for me. Sadly, I like in an apartment and do not have a garden, nor even a decent windowsill to grow herbs on. Sample sizes are great for body stuff (creams, scrubs, etc) but not makeup or facial stuff. I think I'm just too picky on that front. Never heard of Fortune Cookie Soap before! I love handcrafted cold or hot processed soaps, preferable naturally scented or unscented ones. Especially milk soaps! I even use shampoo bars sometimes. Never heard of Cocoa Pink before but the site looks interesting. I am always up to trying shower gels, soaps or scrubs and lotions/creams. Some of these answers are getting redundant....or is it the questions?!? Loved the Lush products I got with a gift certificate years ago but couldn't tell you what they were LOL. I don't wear much makeup, so Shiro Cosmetics is probably not for me. I have a mineral foundation that will probably last me the next decade, and I only rarely wear a lip color and mascara. I don't boycott anything per se but I really dislike Walmart and despise Monsanto..... I would kill to get my hands on a few of the famed green tea Kit Kats from Japan, maybe some Japanese fabric for a scarf? I love ethnic things in general, so local stuff from anywhere works for me! I am on Facebook, but with less than 25 "friends" and I have a hard time keeping up with them, so I didn't share that info....BUT besides family and a few close friends, I also use Facebook to keep tabs on a few cottage industries (like svgcuts.com and Lettering Delights and Annemarie Giovanni) and ooodles of health and food chain related blogs and such. I love Joe Cross, Kris Carr, Frugally Sustainable, Food Renegade, the Blender Girl, those sorts of things. Most blog posts I read, I get a heads up on Facebook first lol. I don't read literature or culture blogs at all (though if I had the time I would love to!), just mostly craft blogs like Under a Cherry Tree or Mod Paperie. I also love the Olfactory Rescue Service, Yeastspotting, Chocolate & Zucchini, and Chocolate Covered Katie. I love the idea of an old fashioned picnic!! but sadly have no one to really do this with If you were put in a room with 100 random other people the same age and sex as you, from your country, in what way do you think you would be different from the average? Mmmm...this is a strange one LOL. For my age, I think I act sillier when I loosen up and have fun, but am overall more serious. At 48 I am still rather quiet unless I know most folks in a crowd - I was painfully shy through my late 20s and I swear I have never mastered certain social skills. I am just not good at small talk with strangers. But I HAVE gotten a lot better, and with one on one I do fine. In a crowd, I have to know folks to let the real me show through. I have an evil but intellectual sense of humor and enjoy witty reparte, and suffer fools as little as possible. WhenI can't escape them, they WILL feel my wrath. Might show through in that crowded room! I'd probaly be mistaken for the youngest in the room, one of the tiniest, though not the shortest. If it was a cocktail party, I'd be the only one not wearing heels. I'd be casually dressed, but nicer....less makeup but classier. Better jewelry LOL - since I make it. Probably smarter than most, but more informed.Except for pop culture - on that stuff, others might think I'm a complete idiot! And I'd smell better I am a BPAL snob, so Haus of Gloi doesn't really interest me. Unless they do bath products as well? I cook, love to cook, and do it all since I live alone. I love to play, try new recipes, and find it relaxing. Sometimes I hate to come home after a long day at work and have to figure out what to cook for dinner, or just don't feel up to it, but if I am not rushed or tired, I find it theraputic. I make a lot of fermented foods (sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, pickles), bake with wild yeast, and am always concocting a new smoothie. I have a lot of kitchen tools and gadgets, but can always use cute kitchen towels (not terry cloth) and good wooden spoons. I definitely prefer to read adult books, but I have been known to read YA on occasion. I never heard of Neil Gaimen before BPAL, so I read Coraline when those scents came out. I have a couple others of his on my Kindle but haven't read them yet LOL. Day after I wrote that, I started American Gods. Really digging it so far. The other I have on there is Good Omens. My kitchen is all boring white and beige, so I tend to brighten it up with colorful kitchen towels and accessories. I don't entertain though, as my apartment is ridiculously too small for that. Pierced ears here! I find stuffies and such adorable, but really when they are more on the artsy side. I have a couple someone made just for me and those are real special. If it's an owl or chicken, I want it! If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have? Oh my goodness, I could go on forever! I mean, I'm the type who taches themselves out of books and now off the internet. I love to learn. With more time, I would travel. EVERYWHERE. Learn languages. LOTS of them. Learn more crafts, especially the "lost" ones of more traditional societies, like spinning and pottery and such. Run a sustainable organic farm and live off only my own food for a while. Only a while - because the world is too big to limit yourself like that. I love the great course sold by The Teaching Company, and would start with those....them learn more about my favorite subjects. I'd study geology, chemistry, archeology, physics, literature, nutrition, art, music, learn to play ooodles of instruments, throw AMAZING parties, make my own wines and beers and oh my so much more I can't even think of it all right now!!! I love bags! Have and use a tons of those recyclable ones, and I like heavy duty canvas ones that are roomy. I don't drive, and I walk everywhere, and I eat healthy so I am constantly carrying bags of produce home (anywhere from 15-30 min walk depending where I go). I like a bag that has handles long enough to go over my shoulders without hanging too far down. But I am also fascinated with purses, though I really don't have more than a couple. I love leather and fabric ones, especially if they are in unusual shapes. I prefer big enough to fit a checkbook wallet, but none of those huge hobo bag type thingies. My favorite comfort food is ice cream or chocolate. Or french fries, but I bake 'em. And for drinking, well, a good hot cup of tea in the winter and a glass of red wine in the summer. Would you like anything from an European country? Yes, anything. I would love it if it spoke of some regional aspect!! What fandoms do you belong to? Does this forum count as a fandom?!? If not, then....none. What cheers you up? Acting silly with my friends or family, goofy romcoms, eating a meal of great food, hiking around in nature. Who or where would you most want to haunt? Who would you least want to be haunted by? I'd most likely haunt family that I though could handle the attention. I'd hate to be haunted by anything malevolent. I HATE answering "favorite" questions. My tastes are varied and eclectic, so I usually don't have favorites per se. Tastes must trend over time, true, but my favorite of the moment will change. Best compliment I could receive is when someone acknowledges something I have worked real hard on, something that has lots of meaning to me. Do you like tarot cards, pendulums and rune stones etc? If so, what type? I have a good little collection of Tarot cards, but no runes. Not sure how to use them LOL but somehow would still love a good set of those. And a pendulum, that's be neat! I also would love a black-backed mirror in a cool frame. Divination is something I want to spend more time on in the future. Question: Witchee, I know that SW isn't about what you get... but could you name one thing you would be heartbroken not to get and one thing you would be a-ok if it didn't make it in your box? No, not at all! This is about having fun, so HAVE FUN WITH IT!!! If I dearly want something, I will get it myself, or find a way to get it, right? These answers are all about you trying to get a handle on someone you've never really interacted with is all. It's al good! QUESTION!: Is there anything small you try to collect from everywhere you visit? Nah, but I do like to get tee shirts. I really haven't been too many places, mostly for financial reasons. So, when I do get somewhere off the beaten path, a tee or sweatshirt is in order. Maybe not small, but it's something sentimental cause I was THERE. If someone is sending me something, postcards are great. Empire Edibles looks grand, as do many sellers of quality edible yummies on Etsy! What are the three books you most want to read right now, and which you don't already have? The Last Best Cure by Donna Jackson Nakazawa, The Immune System Recovery Plan by Susan Blum, and Maddaddam by Margaret Atwood. Is there a literary character you identify with? Even if it's not spot-on, just someone you found yourself having that "I identify with this" feeling? Not really....well, maybe just a little bit with Claire in the Outlander series. She's got spunk, wit, smarts, ingenuity, and just a wee bit of a temper. Oh, yeah, by the way, peoples, do you have any problems with swearing or particularly off-color humor? Would you like to receive subversive crochet/cross stitch/ etc., or would this not get much love in your household? No problems per se, but I try to keep it toned down around others so as not to offend. Working retail, i have to be careful LOL. Household stuff....mmm. Just not sure about that. Would find it funny, sure, but do I want to really display it? Prolly not. What would you like from the most recent BPAL update? What are you planning on buying for yourself and what would you like to try? I am running a decant circle on The Song of Nature, so Im will ge to smell those enough to know if I need a bottle of anything. But truth, nothing jumps out as a must have. I think I will be ordering the Sweet Pea SN and would like to get the Hungry Moon, but haven't decided yet if I will indulge. Lunacys are iffy with me, but I'm thinking I could always turn around and sell it if it didn't work out... Opinions on table top games, from cards and board games, to dice and rpgs. What do you like? What don't you like? Favorites? Any classics you like? Do you collect any? Since I live alone and don't have folks over ever, I'm not much into these. Love playing some when at others, but no real favs. What style is your sense of humour? Warped, twisted, slightly dark and sick sometimes, often silly. Is there anything from Australia you would like? Russell Crowe. Delivering me a case of Bundeburg ginger ale and some Tim Tams. Shirtless. Really - I hear he'll be single again shortly, so here's his chance. It's only a what, 20 hour plane ride from Sydney to Chicago.....I'll meet him at the airport. I'm only 9 months younger than him, so we're a good match. Yup. Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Sure. I would use ones for Kohl's, Target, Old Navy. How big is too big...for something to hang on your walls? If I'm painting you a pretty picture, are there maximum dimensions that you have/prefer? prolly around 16 x 20" would be a max Question: what is your favourite object, that you own, ignoring sentimental reasons for attachment? So I guess something you find beautiful, or fun, or incredibly useful. Prolly my computer, it is a gateway to everything. Entertainment, communications, fun, research, you name it. Second would be my Cougar Cat cutting machine, because it is so darn practical and helps me create great papery things. Is there someone on the forums (within SW or not) who knows you really well and might be able to help with stalking? Not really.....I tend to read more than I talk, but I am trying real hard to overcome that! If you happen to find out who yours is, how much would it bother you? Not a ton, but the ninja aspect is sort of fun! I love how much everyone tried to remain anonymous. I was completely clueless last round, and I had bought AND sold items with my witch! So I might be prety easy to fool, ha! I do have a burner to use waxmelts and tarts, though I don't use it often. But I do like them! I love hot chocolate but not in the summer, then I am all about the cold drinks. Um, sorry, but Spoonfudge sounds sort of gross. Regular, artisianal fudge I love in small doses, but the whole jar concept freaks me out ever so slightly. I picture HUGE folks eating it that way...... Never had any Moonalisa. I am sort of a BPAL snob when it comes to perfume oil, but I think these are the folks that have the body glossing oil? Would like to try one of those. Are there any BPALs that you loved the idea of, the imagery - whether artwork or description - but which didn't work out for you? Off hand I can't think of one.... Is there a Quote that resonates with you, or that you particularly like a lot. Would this be something you would like artwork made of for your walls or a shirt/bag/scarf? Lots of them....I'll try to remember to put a few here. I never remember them, so it's more like a coming across things... STARBUCKS, Yay or Nay? Nay. Even walking in there makes me sort of ill,, smelling the coffee not good Ninjas or Pirates? Pirates! Werewolves or Vampires? Eh, I prefer Zombies. My niece and nephew call me Auntie Zombie! Zombie or Cthulhu? Zombies, but Cthulhu makes a very close second these days Do you want to receive one big package or a bunch of small ones? Digital stuff all at the end when the box should arrive or as we go? My preference would be for a bunch of smaller packages, but seriously it is up to you. This is YOUR game!! A series of things strewn out mkaes for more excitement I think, but there can be other constraints on a Witch so you do what works for you. Srsly, I am not hard to impress. Do you welcome knitted items? If so, what would you like most? (amigurumi, washcloth, socks, shawl, shawlette, scarf, wrist warmers, hat, etc.) Do you have any favorite fibers? How about any fiber allergies? Favorite color for knitted items? YES!!! Love knitted socks, shawls, cowls, mittens or wrist warmers. I love softer wools like merino, alpaca, cashmere, and the funkier soft fibers like bamboo and corn silk, etc. Love silk and the crazy fibers like llama and buffalo, too....if you win the lottery during SW LOL. Even cottons have their place. I believe I am allergic to angora, while mohair usually makes me itchy. Color - well, I love color and anything you pick will be welcome. Srsly. I love it all! Do you have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? Yes, but they are an odd lot of motley creatures LOL. Dragonflies and maidenflies, just because. I often see them pictured with compasses on the open seas. I even used that imagery for an icon once when I was doing an online graphic arts class, and my name there was Navigator so that was sorta cool. I also think of owls as a sort of totem. Didn't do it consciously, but when my grandmother got terminally ill, I started seeing her in all the owls I saw (she collected owls). I now have a decent collection of owls myself. I am highly attracted to the concept of Hectate and the whole Crossroads idea. The moon holds more magic for me than the sun. I have learned affection for Bluebirds, as my dad used to do bluebird house monitoring in nature areas and sometimes I would tag along. Gorillas and eagles are also close to my heart in a more than I just like them kind of way. As far as symbols, I love pentacles and infinity OO and the triple goddess/moon phases )O( and dancing goddess images. That's the long answer. Short - dragonflies and owls and pentacles LOL. When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? Blast some real great, hyper oldies and dance away with the curtains drawn cause I can't dance but it's more about letting off the stream and moving in the moment.....then a nice long walk if weather permits, or a long hot bath if not. Followed by a cordial glass of vintage port. That's damn good therapy there. Would you like if your witch sent a regional pop/soda? If so, what type? Absolutely! I don't drink soda except for very rare treats, and then it is all about some regional specialty. I love a spicy ginger ale/beer, or a good root beer. What are the three BPALs you would most like to receive - one GC, one not-hard to find LE, and one HTF LE from your dreams? Mmm.....I think Hagsgate, Variety of Pleasing Amusements, and the original Spanked. If you cook, would you be interested in-hand made spice mixes/rubs? Oh yes, this would be nice Would you like mexican vanilla or silver rings/necklaces? Vanilla, no thank you, I have a great source for Mexican Tahitian and other types LOL. But silver? Bring it on!! I don't really wear the many rings I own since I've been working in a fabric store the last 8 years and just got out of the habit even on my own time, but necklaces or pendants, oh yeah baby! I have a few nice chains, too, so a bailed pendant works well for me too. Is there anything from the Oddment Emporium you would like? I've never had anything form Conjure Oils, so I am clueless LOL. The whips and lotions look interesting but not the perfume oils. If you knit/crochet, what sizes of needles do you need? I has them all. Srsly. Even a few nice exotic wood ones in the most used sizes. What styles of artwork do you like? I like nature scenes, woods and prairie and mountain scenes best. Also goddess imagery and some modern stuff, but my tastes aren't well defined. I cannot stand a lot of modern as well LOL. I like Georgia O'Keeffe and some impressionist stuff. What is your favorite color? changes a lot, but right now I'd say turquoise or teal What is your favorite season? fall, I love the changing colors and the letting up of hot weather, as well as the full swing head-on harvest season If you could live anywhere in the world and money was no object, where would it be? wow…the possibilities! Maybe Sydney? Seattle? Hard to say as I have been so few places LOL Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? not really, I am more interested in the Twilight update at this point....intrigued by the Cootie spray and some oils - Discipline, Emotional Healing, Fortitude, Cooling, Meditation, and Paratus bath oil I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? not enough to get LOL. wanna try one maybe? but a bag'd go to waste I am afraid What do you love about summer (even if it’s your least-favorite season)? getting around everywhere, the Farmer's Markets, and the neighborhood fairs For those of you who are big readers: Are there any books that just came out (like within the last two months) or are about to come out during this round that you're really looking forward to? sadly I am so out of touch re new books…but I understand from the forum that there is a new Neil Gaiman and I wanna read that. If there's ay recent Margaret Atwood, I'd like that too. Her latest I've read is Orac & Crake (or whatever it's called -a great book!) If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? Um, I haven't had a working tv in about a year. Got one from a cousin but there's no reception to any network channels, just this weird Asian language channel, MOM, and a religious zealot broadcast. I was kinda WTF???? I mostly use it for its big screen and movie watching LOL. I love the idea of cable but wouldn't spend enough time watching to justify the price for one person. So, no. I love to watch movies though, and may be ever so slightly obsessed with Russell Crowe and Viggo Mortensen. So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? ha! sounds hilarious, but I am not familiar with the product Has anyone asked about tattoos? Do you love them? Hate them? Have any? Want any? while I can appreciate the beauty in some of them, I rally dislike them on principle. My tastes meander so, I can't imagine the permanence of committing to one. I also am not into pain and not sure I could GET one LOL. I tend to not want to date guys who have obvious tats but lots of friends and family have them I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? I LOVE almond rosa - haven't had the other I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? mmmm, jerky How do you feel about home-canned goods? Pickles? Ketchup? Mustard? Jam? Marmalade? Absolute love, especially for the less sweet ones (I just got a couple years worth - for me! - of jams in another swap LOL. I love them but I will go through them slowly) pickled anything is grand, and I love home canned goods Do you like BPTP and BPTP clothing? yes and I added a BPTP wishlist link to the top of this post because I realized we can now do that!! I love small baby dolls and hair gloss and bath oil in particular Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? want the Harvest Moon 2012 SO bad! Almost bought it but didn't, and have regretted it ever since Is there a particular movie genre that you like, and what format would you prefer? I prefer DVD and like most all except the "in the hood" stuff, either comedy or gangsta, I just don't get it Do you like audiobooks? nah…I have 2 from when I first got my Kindle, they were free but I still haven't listened to them. I guess I just rather read myself Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? LOVE but not white. I adore Lindt's chili bars but the grocer near me that used to have them stopped carrying them. Years ago I could find Lindt's orange milk wafers in these rolls but no longer. I much prefer dark chocolate but like high quality milk on rare occasion. I adore Godiva's key lime truffles and Fannie May trinidads but mostly I prefer chocolate that's really dark and my favs are uber creamy. Fav flavors are ginger, mint, orange, sea salt, etc but I am very adventuresome and have had truffle and green tea, etc LOL Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelery give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? that is so cool!! I would lov wering this to work, what a conversation piece! Gourmet popcorn, yes/no? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon CHeeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? I love popcorn. while I'd be interested in most flavors enough to try, I'd most enjoy something savory or caramel or chocolate. Nuts are good. Do you want/need/like/collect journals? If so, do you prefer lined or unlined? Not really, got enough right now. I love the idea of using them regularly but never seem to actually DO it LOL How do you feel about glitter? does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? loose glitter DOES make my skin crawl, but some in some seasonal decor can be nice, as it can be on papercrafting too Festival this week -- includes an "encampment" and an art faire. any interest in trinkety things from the encampment or cards/prints from local artists? Yes, this is totally the kind of thing I enjoy, the mre unusual and not mass produced and with a localized feel to it Do you like/wear makeup? If so what brands/colors/types? SO little anymore, almost a no - keep thinking a touch would d o me good but I never do, ha! On the rare occasions I do, it's usually a bit of mascara and lip color, some neutral eyeshadow mostly for contouring. I really want to try some "healthy" nail polish and look into the wiser, healthier choices for cosmetics but those are pricy and there always seems to be other things to buy. I have used Clinique and Trish McEvoy a lot in the past, as well as Avon and Mary Kay - but I am slowly learning how much crap is in these brands and new stuff I buy will be better choices. I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? You may have figured this out already, but I am of two sides here....I am not big chip person but I love to try weird and different and ethnic food. I would totally love to sample a dill chip! Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? I only recently became aware of it. I love the concept but haven't spent much time there to tell a fav or anything. Every package has to have something blue in it. Blue can also be used to describe more risque humor...how would you rate your general sense of humor? Are you strictly PG-13, R-rated, NC-17? My humor can go all ways And, living alone, I do not have to worry about offending anyone. I don't get bawdy just for the sake of bawdy like some, but humor is, well, humorous. Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc? I do like logic puzzles. Never was into jigsaw or crossword puzzles too much, but I like Suduko. I have an early Nintendo DS somewhere around, a hand-me-down from one of the kids int he family - and have a decent Suduko game for that, as well as the Brain Age cartridge. I like things that make me think I guess. I am going back to Paradise Fibers today. They have like almost every type of fiber roving and dye and stuff available. If you're a spinner and have any fiber wishes, what would you like? I think I am set in this regard as I have materials....just not good at it yet. Wish I could hook up locally and get some lessons but that hasn't happened yet. Hurts that I don't drive! But spinning and me haven't gotten along. Yet. I WILL master the hand held spinner one day, and then get a wheel. One day. LOL!! And I love to knit, find lace crochet fun, and have done some needle tatting but I have supplies. The yarn, oh the yarn! Love to look at it but need to work on my supply. Would never turn down any more but do not need. At all. Do you have anything that you use on a daily basis that you would always welcome more of? Decent fine-tip black pens, lip balm, hand cream/lotion and chocolate. Do you have any long trips coming up? Nope I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you? Did you say food?? I am into anything foodie, especially different and unusual stuff, but prefer to stay away from the really bad colorings/preservatives, MSG, artificial sweeteners, and that crap. Would you be interested in homemade potato chips? hell yes! How about homemade infused vodkas? what kind? medicinal or toiletry related types, absolutely. just drinking for fun, not really. Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself? shipping tape, chime candles, natural shampoo, hand cream, and mini notepads for my purse

I really like this wet and on initial drydown, though I'll be damned if I'd know any notes in it without reading them. It's gentle and soft but very much present, if that makes sense. Quietly solid, a gentle night air blend with soft florals. After about 20 min it seems just a touch less floral, which is fine with me. i was afraid of the florals, but no worries here. Very well blended and yes, true to its concept has both a dark and light side. Very unusual but I like it a lot, seems rather sophisticated to me. An older woman with much grace would wear this to a fancy tea party LOL. Very different than what I am usually drawn to for body scent, but I am glad I got a bottle.

The ozone notes would have scared me off ever trying this on my own, but I received a frimp (thank you Werekitten!) so naturally I had to see. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised! I really enjoy this, and despite the incense aspect, it seems bright and energetic to me. I am sitting here drinking a smokey Earl Grey tea, and can't believe it took me about 10 minutes to recognize the bright citrusy note as bergamot. I can see many guys wearing this, but it'd then be that icky twang I hate on guys. It's hard for me to describe, but in most commercial fragrances it comes with a sharp silver colored metallic point that makes my skin crawl. Fortunately, that metallic note is missing here. I could easily see myself wearing this in warm weather. Very interesting scent indeed.
