    War

This smells of soooo many things at once it actually made me recoil. This is like no other bpal oil for sure. The 3 red musks are what attracted to me to this. The words I can use describe this are... Burnt Plastic Spice Wood Weird This is gonna sound weird too but..once the weirdness of that initial application and the drydown stage starts to happen, I get really strong whiffs of exactly what Lush's Jingle Spells ballistic smells like. I checked the ingredients of it and it says...Tangerine, Juniperberry, ylang ylang. So...that makes no sense but I swear it's almost identical!! Then comes much more wood, and a really really weird note I've never smelled in my life. God knows what that is.. it's like burnt seeds, or.... burnt indian sweets. So so strange. This is a stand out oil for me, but I'm not sure it's in a good way or not, it's just too bizzare at the moment. I'm gonna leave it on my wrists for a little longer then finish this review. *totters off looking pretty* * * * * * *totters back* Hmm....this is woodsy more so than before. Now it smells of wood with a little bit of exoticness from the red musks. I'm on the fence.

The first thing I'll say about this is how real and true to the description this smells. It's firstly quite sour...and I get that sort of odd milk smell that everyone has mentioned in Milk Moon etc. It's that...paired with coconut milk. It's literally like I've cracked open a coconut and can smell the milk inside. Not that sweet sugary coconut smell you get in most products etc. This is SO REAL! Almost like a drink! The shea part makes this slightly more foody and the coconut turns from more.."Coconut Milk" to "Coconut Meat" like the description says. I've tipped the juice out of the coconut and I've scraped the meat out of it. It's so nice. The whole thing blends together after this bringing the scent evenly together, which is where another elemnt comes in, this must be the water note...it's not as strong as the coconut/milkshea combination bit it add a slight lightness to the thickness of the other notes. This is brilliant!!! Even if it's slightly odd when it's first applied.. ETA: Oh my gosh, when this get's really dry the watery note and the coconut note goes and this smells so much like Lush's Butterball ballistic. Cool!!!!

Snake oil holds on for dear life on me when I wear this. But it's a less spicy...more innocent vanillary Snake Oil. It's like...Baby Snake Oil. There's a certain..baby powder element to this, which I don't get with Snake Oil until it's very very dry. The snake oil has stomped the Dorian into submission and there's only a faint whiff. There's a slight tinge of lavender too in the wet stages but it's not too much. It's basically got all the throw of Snake Oil, with a soft vanilla/slightly fresher jacket on. Very very nice indeed and this will age beautifully providing the lavender doesn't go weird.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Oooooooooooh the CT bottles are cool. So glad I'm getting some. *is excited*

    Antony

This one is a bet meh unfortunately. Yes it's got a herbal and fresh quality to it, with a sort of familiar men's cologne at the same time. After about 20 mintues though it turns to a very strong musk on me and stays that way until it fades. Where was the leather?? Sure it was hiding in there somewhere.

    Blood Pearl

This is quite bizzare this oil. I does actually smell pearlescent in the way of being creamy, with something biting there too... Very strange but definitaley a nice smelling oil. There's a fruit element to it...almost like berry sweets. I think that's the blood musk..it sorta reminds me of the wine grape-esque note in Blood Phoenix and Blood Lotus. Except that there's this creamyness behind it. The coconut is there but barely, it's just adding to the overall effect in it's own little way. But the coconut is a faint breath then it's gone, and the fruity sharper side of this oil takes over.. This is definately a deep red smelling oil.

    Marianne

Oh Marianne I love you! You remind me of my beloved Scherezade, except you have touch of fruit & flowers. Gorgeous. This is another scent that makes me feel like it's wearing me rather than me wearing it and Scherezade is one of the other few that has done that. It's a wonderful feeling! This stuff is powerful and if Scherezade wasn't around I would be hoarding this like mad. There's definately a blackcurrant/blackberry feel to it on the drydown, and then the floral element kicks in when it's almost dry. I will have to get at least one bottle of this. This is Scherezade No2!

    Blood Lotus

This smells like very deep red berries, almost like wine grape. With some Dragon's blood Resin thrown in for good measure. Yep...deffo DBR in here but it's not dominating the blend. It's more of a dark berry than floral and I'm getting none of the bubblegum vibe that lotus can give. It's quite strong and I got a compliment today about it too. The more this dries the more beautiful it becomes and I can really see why Beth is such a master of creating perfume. It's just so rich, red and deep. It's the only way I can describe it. It's like someone's fermented tons of berries and aged them in a slightly floral liquid. MUCH nicer than I had intially anticipated. Yum!!

    Kali

This is so rich and deep red smelling, and on me is mainly the wine with dark chocolate underneath. The wine is not very boozy like the wine in athens. It's like a very refined dark red thick wine. Almost like jam wine hehe. Very very berry like with the chocolate behind. The chocolate fades quite quite quickly though and this explodes with so many different smells that it's hard to pick any out. It's a floral, but there's this deep redness that is the main note. I don't get any honey but it's probably there mashed in with all the other stuff.. There's a whole lot going on with this blend but I would say it's basically a berry wine floral.

    O

This scent is wicked!!! I friggin love it much! I've had the imp for ages and never worn it so I think I'm lucky enough to have a really aged imp. All I can say is YUM! I love vanilla and amber anyway and love honey too in the right blends. This one? Works like a charm. This smells more like honeycomb than honey. It's the same sort of honey that's in pink phoenix...oh my gosh this is yum. It's slightly similar to snake oil when it's first applied but...sweeter with less spice, honey is there too. As it dries it becomes so soft and lovely, and the whole thing just smells so divine! mmmmmm!!! I want to slather so much. Now that Beth has announced the 5th Chaos theory round including an "O" based chaos. Hoard much? yes! This is soft, sweet, foody but not too foody, slight exotic smelling oil which would be lovely to wear to bed or when you want to be snuggled. GORGEOUS!!!

    Black Forest

PINE! Again, this is the second pine scent I've pulled out of my imp box to wear at random in two days! This is pine as everyone else has said..so..sorry to repeat. It's not as scary as the pine in say...Jabberwocky (Which was the last Pine scented oil I pulled out). However it still dominates quite a bit with my chemistry. The dry stage of this is way way softer, the musk comes out loads and it's more powdery, I take it this is the ambergris. It's still foresty because the pine has left a trail of greenery behind. This is a good fall scent along the lines of Samhain to my nose. Quite powdery and slightly green with a big twist of musk!

    All Saints'

This is the 06' version I'm reviewing. And I can safely say this is the most potent floral ever. I'm not sure if this is something to do with the fact that the oil is aged alot but this is making me get a headache and I never get headaches from perfume. Rosetastic is the word that springs to mind. Very heavy rose...it's like othello but dirtier and much much more heavy and heady. I love othello..but this is crazy strong. I'm gonna be sending this to my next swapee as a frimp and hope they like it. It's just too much for me.

    Ogun

oOoOOh spicy!! The first thing my boyf said when I put this on in the car was..."That smells like pepper". And he's right, this is another oil that smells very different to what I thought it was going to. I don't get any fruit at all from this. Melon? nope...and where's the honey? This smells like carnation to me alot! It reminds me so much of Lush's Potion body cream which I absolutely adore. This would layer really really well with it! There's no tobacco or anything like that either...this just smells like a very spicy carnation on me. Sometimes I wonder where all the notes go when there are so many listed!
  14. ouch!

    Jabberwocky

Oh gosh this is so unpleasant on me. I'm a bit weird with Pine scents anyway usually but this one has turned into to bleach on my skin. I'm not getting any orange at all from it, it goes from pine to the smell of bleach very quickly. So so strange..

    Vicomte de Valmont

This smells like Cool Water for men when it's wet. Not exact but it reminds me alot of it. It's got that aquatic sort of smell to it. And it's definately masculine. Does smell a bit generic. And it's not something I'd really wear, in fact..I gave the imp to my little brother. :) The dry starge is slightly different, the aquatic tones die down and then it changes to a more herbal scent, slightly unusual too. I won't be getting moreof this me don't thinks!

There's a Certain Slant of Light

Thin, tinny ozone with frankincense, white sandalwood, white amber, hyssop, bitter violet leaf, and shadowy wisps of smoke. This IS a thin scent. I get a slightly minty/menthol note from it at first with some ozone and violet. It kinda smells cool. It's nice but not a stand out scent at all unfortunately. The throw is not crazy but it's a pleasant scent. It's a good mix of notes, the frankincense comes out a bit more after a while. But...really it's a little bit meh. It softens alot more when it's completely dry, and smells like a soft floral.

    Forbidden Fruit

Lotus..mmm. This is the first time I think I'm getting a proper feel of what it's all about. I've had balck lotus before but that went so weird on me I lost a bit of hope. I must say quickly though..the first two/ three times I tried this, when I smelled up close I got a really bad whiff of something that smelled like bad breath/rotting fruit. Which made me think..oh gosh..lotus is just plain weird. When this oil dries off a bit from the wet stage of weird fruit and a few flowers with a hint of citrus, it turns into such a bouncy soft sweet scent that I'm starting to adore!!!! It's more in the throw of the oil though. If I smell up close it's a bit more fizzy. From far away if I wave my wrist *waves wrist* It's gorgeous!!! I've never smelled something so....(how do I describe it?) fluffy?? I dunno. Anyway..the throw of this perfume is so so soft and light. It reminds me of those pretend candy cigarettes you used to get as a child that were white and sorta crumbly. I will be getting a bottle for sure!!

    Havana

This smells kinda woody and green at first. Very lush green though. Not herbal green. I'm supposing that's the palm! I really like this though and didn't expect to! There is a hint of leather here, but it's not strong, and also the tobacco. But when it's wet it's mainly a green/woodsy scent. This is probably the second masculine scent I've really really liked, I'm not usually that fond of them but this one is a good one! Dry it's alot more tobacco scented and loses alot of the greenery, it smells slightly musky too. It's now a browner slightly darker scent. With the tiniest hint of that green element behind. I think this will be yummy on the boyf!

    Hunter Moon 2007

Oh my gosh this is beautiful!! And totally unexpected! I'm just gonna say that on my skin the description of this might as well be null and void. It's COMPLETELY different. I get a lovely tropical/suncream vibe from this! I swear there's coconut in here. it's very smooth and creamy. This is yum I so need to find a bottle now!!! There's alot of musk too... and vanilla...*inhales* it's slightly powdery, and all so very well blended. Me wants more!! Where is all the wine and feralness...and leaves? This is a happy joy, spinning around in the sun scent! (My body chemistry is doing such weird things to me lately)

    Ochosi

... His ofrenda is the soft shea he shares with Obatala, forest herbs, and sprucewood arrow shafts. This is interesting. I can smell the shea definately and the way I can describe it is similar to the milk note in things such as Milk Moon etc. Except that it's lighter. That's one part. The other parts of this blend smell like herbs, a bit woodsy and I'm getting a major tropical vibe going on too. And I think I can smell fig? It's got that kinda...pele, manila tropical vibe like I said..and fig. All with an underlying tone of the shea/milk lite. The wood gets more prominant as it dries though..and it get's a little plasticy sweet. Now I'm thinking there's some sort of berry in here too. Oooh this is a morpher and I like it. It fades more and just becomes a sort of plasticy berry smell. Which I like..

    The Blockhead

Weird... Wet this is straight up Wrigley's Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum. It's almost exact to my nose. I love it and would happily smell of this all day long. The dry stage is WAY different but I'm not getting leather at all...not the leather that I've smelled in other BPAL blends anyway... This has a clean..almost linen quality to it when it's drying, still with a bit of the Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum. There's also a floral here too.. possibly violet. The reason I'm saying violet is because sometimes to me violet smells like crushed petals that have been trodden on in the rain. I get this a little bit from this oil. The dry stage I'm not too fond of which has sorta ruined this blend for me. It's morphs so drastically into a heavy floral, kinda powdery. Not that I hate florals, and this one is a nice clean floral too, it's just that it's not what I was expecting at all, and I don't think it symbolises "The Blockhead". I was expecting a sweet but dirty rough leather scent. Body chemistry is so weird sometimes.

    Desdemona

I love sweetpea! MMM. But this review will be quite short. I found this to be very very floral (Obviously since the 3 listed notes are flowers). It's more spicy in the wet stage due to the carnation and then it just turns to a complete overwhelming whoosh of flowers. Nice flowers...but flowers nonetheless. My SO said I smelled like "Zoflora" which is a floral scented cleaning product!!! Off to swaps Desdemona.

    Wolf Moon 2007

I'm not going crazy for this one. To me this is pine and evergreen, probably the most true to life of all the pine/green scents the lab has done that I've smelled. Definately smells a bit chilly... After a little while it sweetens up, smells like berries behind all the frosty pine. The sweetness of the Sandalwood comes through once the pine has died down a bit and the scent now smells a bit more musky too. It almost smells like there's civet in here too because I'm definitely getting that animal grr kinda smell. I found it alot in Fire Of Love and Czernobog. There's still a berry sweetness behind all the time while the perfume is morphing from the chilly pine stage. The animal note is now stronger though.. It stays like this until it fades... I'm not too fond of this. The description sounded so cool BUMS!!

    Lear

This smells like wood and tree sap, with a herby undertone. The Bay is prominent too.. It reminds of when I was a kid climbing trees in the School fields at the back of our road. It smells quite dusty and it doesn't have tons of throw. It's not really me at all... This I think would be better as a room scent, or..on an older gentleman. Unusual to say the least!

    Sophia

This perfume is a perfect example of why me, personally, should NEVER look at a list of notes and think..Nah...I'll never like that. Wow! It was a frimp from the lab so I thank you lab for letting me try this, I NEVER would have ordered in amillion years. So.. the wet stage of this is my favourite, it's gorgeous and lovely and odd all at the same time. If anyone has ever smelled a perfume from Lush's sister company "B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful" then..I hope you would agree in saying that the wet stage of this has that kind of feel to it. Alot of B's perfumes have that slightly elegant unusal twang to them. Namely.."Love" "2 Hearts" "Cocktail" This is it!!! It's mainly the herby/lavender that is strong with the Star Jasmine. There is also a strange sort of...wet petals smell going on which is the only thing that's putting me off ever so slightly but it's stilll yum on the whole. The rose comes out a bit as it starts to dry....and I can smell a citrus edge too. The throw of this perfume is perfect for me. Someone at work has already mentioned that I smell nice today. And said..I keep getting nice little wafts everytime you walk near..YAY! The dry stage is alot different to the wet stage. The herbal lavender edge has gone and it's more floral. But..daintily floral if that makes sense. It's not a bundle of flowers dropped on your head, it's lighter. Still with a good amount of throw. This is where the musk comes out and it's a now a beautifully soft musky floral that has a slight spice to it. YUM!! The rose is much more predominant and the Jasmine and Lavender have gone completley. Both stages of this perfume are lovely. I'm definately considering a bottle! I just love the wet stage so much more than the dry.
