    Pink Snowballs

Oh I love this! It was everything I hoped it would be! This smells like rose mostly in the bottle (well, I have a decant, not a bottle, but you get my point) Wet: still mostly rose, but there is that "delicate" note, that I can't quite put my finger on, that is also in Snow white dry: as this dries, it smells to me like a soft rose, like that in "Hope" was blended with the same "Chilly Bright" snow note used in Snow white. I can definitely see the comparison here. I think this is absolutely lovely! Will definitely be buying a bottle 4/5

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

My all time favorite Perfume, which i=s very difficult to find these days (and I also think they changed the formula a bit from back in the day) was Venezia by Laura Biagiotti Top notes include: succulent Italian fruit with some green accord; peach, plums and bergamot. At its heart; rose, spicy carnation, intense cinnamon and iris. Sandalwood, Tonka bean, vanilla and benzoin. Would love to find a similar BPAL version! There are a few listings for this perfume on Ebay, so I may snag a small bottle, just for nostalgia's sake...this was my favorite perfume when I was 14...LOL, and it's not a childish scent! It's gorgeous!

    The Old Lady Scents

You may want to try Grandmother of Ghosts I haven't actually skin tested it yet, but it did smell like a light floral - and to me, I associate floral perfumes with older matronly women the most. I tend to wear very resiny/incensy or creamy blends, and if I wear something that has florals, they are VERY light. Only Rose red I can get away with. A lot of the teas rose, or damask rose blends, smell of the kind of rose scent I associate with old ladies who used to wear rose scented perfumes. This is also why I just cannot like LUSH's Turkish Delight cream soap. I makes me feel frumpy...and I'm 32, and don't want to purposefully make people think I am older than I am, I am so not in a rush! ETA: My Grandma is 81 years old, and she always wears Estee Lauder Pleasures, which I think smells VERY similar to La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente. The funny thing, is when she was younger, probably in her 60's, she used to wear the kinds of scents I classify in my mind as "Old Lady" smells - She had that Lily of the Valley perfume, which I used to love to smell when I was a kid, because it smelled like Gram! I like her perfume choices SO much more now though...LOL

A first date kind of scent?

I totally agree in principle, and thank you for your support! I am also very sensitive to smells I don't like on other people, I suppose I just don't want to make him uncomfortable. Mind you, people say I am exceptionally sensitive..so maybe you're right. I asked him what kind of smells he liked, he said there were perfumes he liked but had no idea what they were! Oh and to just wear my favourite. I don't have a favourite though (maybe Antique Lace but that drop's for hoarding lol), or I wouldn't have umpteenmiliion bottles. So damn what he likes, just help me pick? That's more empowered huh I was asked for a list...oh boy...here it is(no particular order-I'd be here all night!* on possibles considered thus far): Gaueko Death/young maiden Glukupikros The Pool of Tears (though this is way too CLEAN for a date methinks) Dia Tattered Lace Glittering Apple Black Pearl* Shadowy and Sublime White Choc/Sugared Violets Sonnet D'Automne Nymphia Two Loves Anactoria Nocturnal reverie Boo Quietude Summer Summoning KNecht ruprecht Lucretia Black Moon Faith Phantom Calliope Atlas Gladdener of all hearts Crypt Queen Lilith Victoria Black Lace-blargh this has turned to evil cigars, complete with ash Dorian Rose Pearls Diamonds Zarita Dog Days of Summer Snake Charmer The Chinese Dance Dixie Love Perfume Hod Res WILF Fox Fires on NYE The Lantern Ghost of Oiwa* Boomslang Midnight on the Midway Snake Oil Vixen Under the Harvest Moon*although no one I know likes this ON Darkness When Winter Nights Enlarge Montresor Countess Willie Cake Smash Attrocious Attic Antique Lace Green tree Viper MIdwinter's Eve Theodosius Sunbird Day of Skulls Snow White Chant D'Automne Illustrated Woman ? Succubus Hope Ivanushka tHE mADWOMAN Odd Portents CReature Feature Prospero mahana red tide morocco* belle epoque kurukulla ugh...my eyes are too tired to list ALL the imps. That's probably enough choice though, right?! I would say you definitely want to wear something "different", that will catch his interest. I can tell you, when I first bought and tried on Snow White, my husband came over and sniffed me...like, buried his face into me, and sniffed me, and then proclaimed how much he liked it - there is something ethereal, beautiful, innocent, and even sexy, all at the same time. It's Haunting even...but in the best way possible. Or, I would go for Snake Oil - I think it screams sexy, and "In Control" without coming off "slutty" if that makes sense...

    The Phoenix At Midnight

I really love this one! so glad I decided to order the bottle unsniffed! I actually wasn't sure if I would like it, when I sniffed the oil in the bottle, as it had a sharpness to it, that I tend to shy away from - Not totally a floral sharpness, but the musk and floral together. I just thought maybe it would be a little to "loud" and sharp for my taste. wet: The sharpness remains only briefly when it is first applied, but as it sinks into my skin, it fades quickly, and mellows out much more. I definitely can pick out the Crystalline musk note, and some very soft florals behind it that are really very nice. This doesn't smell at all like any of the other BPAL oils I own, which I am very happy about, and it's one of those scents you could easily wear everyday to work, as it's not super strong in your face, and gentle, but it is sexy, at the same time, so it's also a good choice for a night out. Definitely evocative of the stillness, and purity of a cold winter night...at Midnight. I would give this one 4/5

    The Cold Hour of Dawn

I think Absalem hit the nail on the head with this one...it's Gorgerous! The minute it hit my skin, I was like, "Ohh!" I also get this strange scent association with it, when I was almost picking up whispers of what could almost be a subtle mint note (I think it's the snow note?) almost reminded me of those minty chocolate non-perils I would eat at my grandmothers house that were pastel colored, and she would put them in her candy dish near Easter time. I'm not sure why, it doesn't smell like chocolate, or anything, but when I smell this on me, my brain brings up that association, as apparently, that's what this perfume reminds me of. I think this is going on my life for a bottle purchase! 5/5

The Last Evening of the Year

I have to agree with cfrencesca when she made the laundry fabric softener comparison - I can deifnitely see that. It also reminds me of a very well packages of some expensive french milled soap that you would purchase in one of those quaint gift boutiques. It's not a bad scent, but Definitely not my favorite of the bunch...off to the swaps pile it goes!

    A Wonderful Light

This is a beautiful scent...At first, I detect the amber and orange with the sweetness of the honey lingering behind the scenes when it first goes on wet...I do also detect that "bitter" zest note a few others mentioned, but if you blink your eye, you'll miss it - it's there and gone in a flash it seems. As it sits, the honey starts making it's way to the front knocking the orange to the background, so it can share the spotlight with the amber. The amber is a really mellow calming amber, not an in-your face- too perfumy kind of amber, so don't be afraid of it! I think as it sits even further, the honey wants most of the attention (at least on me, since honey amps on me) and is tempered by the soft amber and orange in the background. I never really detected the vanila. Overall, I would give this 4/5 Since I have a lot of other honey centered blends that I adore, I probably would not buy a bottle for that reason, but will definitely be keeping my decant.

What do bottles and labels look like?

sharkdiver - that looks like the same style label and bottle as my GCs that I bought in early 2007, so my guess would be that your bottle is a vintage of somewhere around 2006/2007 - maybe even 2008. It's definitely at least a couple of years old though Awesome!! I can't wait to get my hands on it...I've only ever smelled/used lab fresh eat me...I can't imagine how divine aged Eat me will be!

What do bottles and labels look like?

I haven't been into BPAL long enough to know if there was any overlap between the use of the new and old style labels, but one of the blends I have, Severin, was disconned in '09 and has the new-style label, so I'd guess your Eat Me has to be at least two years old. ETA: Your bottle can't be more than 6 years old, though, because the lab was still using Cobalt bottles then. Thanks!!

What do bottles and labels look like?

It wasn't a lab listing, but I did just win an Ebay auction for a 5ml bottle of Aged Eat Me! I LOVE eat me when it's fresh, I can only imagine how magnificent it will be aged! This was someone's backup bottle they decided they didn't need...and it's full! It has the old Label. I am wondering, would anyone be able to guess what year it was from by the label? any guesses?

    Pussy

My Inner 5th grader is cracking up...especially after reading that comment! Based on the notes and all of the positive reviews, I would LOVE to try this blend...but I don't know if I would ever be able to straight faced tell someone what I was wearing if they complimented me...

    Colder and Colder

This is such a beautiful Light scent! It definitely evokes the feeling of Coldness... This actually does remind me of something - Bath and Body works used to make this "Stress Relief" scent that was spearmint-eucalyptus and I LOVED it! Not sure if they even still have it, but this blend reminds me of a "brighter" version of that. Since I have other eucalyptus blends(Y'Ha-Nthlei) I probably will not buy a bottle of this, but I will love the Decant!

    Dad Scents

    THIS exactly - I 3rd this choice.

    Beaver Moon 2011

I completely agree with this. I haven't tried Boo, but I also get more of a "creaminess" rather than specifically cheesecake. The lavender is very strong on initial application, but quickly (within just a few minutes) softens to a beautiful CREAMY lavender scent. It's not too sweet, it's just perfect! I actually did wear this to bed last night, and slept really well. It's a lovely, soft, comforting scent. If you can enjoy a softer lavender, and you like "creamy" scents, definitely give this one a try!

    How Doth the Little Crocodile

This one is interesting - I can very clearly smell the chocolate and the peppermint in the imp, and as soon as it is applied (wet)...then, my skin chemistry takes over, and the chocolate and mint quickly fade, leaving behind almost single note Cedar! I really wish the chocolate and the peppermint stuck around, but oh well. This will not be a bottle purchase

    Sonnet D'Automne

I love this! this was "October" on Steriods for me - very similar scent, but it was just so much more rebust...that is the only way I can describe it! I loved October, and had been waffling on buying a bottle, and then hadn't since I knew it was on Backorder - and then went ahead and bought a bottle of this unsniffed...SO GLAD I DID!!

    The Wiley Grasser

THIS exactly...I bought my bottle unsniffed, and Little Bird's review is very much my experience witht eh Wiley Grasser too!

    The Seekim

I was so afraid I was going to hate this one, after I had bought a bottle of this unsniffed just based on the reviews from others.... I am happy to say, I LOVE the Seekim! I can definitely see where people are getting the lemon/furniture polish vibe from, as I can detect that a little in the bottle, and again in the first minute or so while it goes on wet. Once it begins to dry, I must have magic skin chemistry, because it dries to this beautiful blend of a soft patchouli, chocolate, and hay. It also has a muskiness to it, that my skin really likes, and it amps this. I was really surprised how much I Love the Seekim, and on me, it's not a masculine scent at all! SO glad I bought I big bottle!

    The Changeling

This one is very Nutty to my nose...I smell the pumpkin, and the wood, but somehwere int he combination, it has a nuttiness about it. It's not bad, but It's not my favorite either. I may actually swap this one, since I bought a bottle unsniffed.

    The Gorobble

I too was worried about this scent, as I bought a bottle unsniffed - But, Overall, I do like it. I think it's a great fall/winter scent! In the bottle: Sweet marshmallow with a hint of cinnamon - it smells very similar to my nose as the Marshmallow pumpkin bath oil, except without the pumpkin aspect Wet: same as above, though the bit of woodsmoke starts to come out a bit more, rounding it out nicely. To me, the smoke is not overpowering, it has a nice even balance with the sweet creamy cinnamon. Dry down: about 2 hours after putting this on, It doesn't have much throw that *I* notice, though one of my co workers came in my office and asked why it smelled like candles...LOL I asked him if he was smelling a smoky cinnamon, and he said yes, so he was definitely picking up my perfume. For me to smell it, I have to put my wrist to my nose, and I can smell now (2 hours later) a more mature, but not sharp, cinnamon, with a creamy edge, and the woodsmoke still mingled in there. I still like the scent. I may try a little in my hair at some point, so see if it allows more throw.
  22. Not an earl grey tea, but have you tried White Rabbit or Dorian? White Rabbit - Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen. Dorian - Inspired by and created for my beloved Tedwin: my eternal, beautiful, wicked Dorian Gray. Refined, elegant, and lovely, with a noble bearing and seemingly gentle air. This blend is an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea. I personally LOVE white rabbit...I smell the pepper and ginger in the imp, but that does not come out on my skin. I get everything else though! The tea, the cream, honey, and linen. It's beautiful! I've heard Dorian is also a Favorite. I have an IMP on the way to me of this, so I cann't comment on that one yet.

Cake, cookies, donuts, baked goods, even Cinnabon

Sprinklecakes is straight up cupcakes. I get a lot of Muskiness in Eat me...I love it, but the cake note all but disappears on me.

    Philologus

This blend is actually one of my favorite BPAL blends! I must have magic skin chemistry, because this scent is gorgeous on me, not masculine at all! it's actually light, with a touch of floral and that aquatic note comes out a bit. around the edges, I can pick up the hints of paper, and candlewax, but this scent is so beautiful on me... I haven't yet tried it on DH, but I just might do it! I'm curious to see if it's a whole difference scent on him.

    WILF

I LOVE THIS!! I definitely get the Snake Oil vibes from this, though I think this has a creamier note, that I can't quite put my finger on. I can smell a bit of the peppermint in the bottle, but none of that come out on my skin. I also cant really detect the chocolate. My skin amps the musks and basically smells like a richer, creamier version of snake oil.
