Dead Leaves, Pineapple, Patchouli, and Vetiver

The dead leaves, patchouli, pineapple and vetiver combo is a killer! It's a crunchy leafy scent rounded up by the pineapple sweetness and juiciness. Sometimes the pineapple stomps over the leaves, other times it stays in the background. It's overall very wearable and summer-appropriate.

    Titania

It's so fruity and cheery and moderately sweet (as in fruity fragrant sweet). Perfect for summer time! Sometimes I get a Juicy Fruit gum vibe, but it's still pleasant!

    Pumpkin Spice Shoggoth

This had some strong throw. The pumpkin spice is so strong, but it dries down to a green amber spicy concoction. The pumpkin spice note is indeed overpowering.

    Seven Word Story: Sloth

The banana note smells a bit chemical/sharp and retains this vibe throughout the entire time. It's a sweetened tobacco, but not the best kind for me. The banana note ruins it for me.

    Jareth

Imagine Dorian stripped off the lemon tea and muskiness and put on some sensual tonka. A pity that wear length is short lived on my skin

    Frostbitten Bliss

Frostbitten Bliss smells like powdery creamy milk chocolate with a hint of plastic. The plastic is barely there but sort of messes up my scent interpretation.

    Pumpkin Spice Embalming Fluid

The pumpkin spice renders such a beautiful rounded sweetness appropriate for the fall season. It smell so comforting, but really little resembles to the original Embalming Fluid. It reminds me so much of a Kenzo perfume.

    Lysander

Lysander is a smoky woody lilac benzoin. It smells a bit like caramel, but i think it's the tonka that gives off this impression. Over time the sweetness goes away and you;re left with smoky lilac musk.

    Snake Oil

Can't believe i haven't reviewed this before. I became a BPAL fiend in May 2011 and among my first BPAL purchases was an aged 2005 or 2006 bottle (white paper label) of Snake Oil.I heard all about the excitement surrounding Snake Oil and i had to experience it myself. After i finished my aged bottle, i purchases another one in May 2016 from the Lab and let it age and today i cracked it open. I will say that in order to experience the beauty of SO you have to age it from 1 to 2-3 years. Snake Oil to me is an exotic, slinky concoction that may read as incensy, but to my nose it's a spicy resinous vanilla with a tingling sensation. Having tested this throughout the years, i've come to the conclusion that it contains vanilla, patchouli, musk, benzoin and possibly some other spice. All in all, it's a unique oil in the sea of BPAL blends and any vanilla aficionado should try it..

    Parlement of Foules

2006 release This is such an ever-changing blend, Sometimes i get the resins coming to life with a pale shadow of rose, other times i get a sweetened candied rose (not the soapy variety). The resins must consist of frankincense and benzoin. Definitely try before you buy scent.

    BPAL at work?

Speaking from experience, i advise you to refrain from using anything heavy and incensy, loud florals or pungent resins. The only way to go is mild-foodies, clean/ mild-soapy and citrus/tea oils.

    Cozy scents

    Cleric

Cleric to me is a smoother version of Penitence with the addition of rose amber. It's not rough around the edges, yet still holds the ecclesiastical vibe.

    Thieves' Rosin

Tested this from a 2 year-old aged imp. Sweet ambery resins. Very sensual and musky. Best suited for cold fall and winter nights.

    No. 93 Engine

i had the same experience with Engine No.93. I think that the frankincense lends the peppery quality to the overall final result. Black pepper stinging frankincense.
  16. This is a clean, gentle and warm blend. I get the white leather and small echoes of white tea and neroli. Very pleasant and cozy.

    Robin Goodfellow

A warm earthy mossy woody sage blend. Very manly and suitable for men over 35 yo. It feels like an old school cologne for men from the 70s.

    The Chicken-Legged Hut

I get a feeling of white leather or suede OR it could be some sort of white musk. I can honestly say that this is a clean polished white suede blend. It reminds me of the White Rider, but with no leather in sight. For some strange reason, each time i smell it i get the chicken legs image in my head

    Grappling Octopus

This is a light powdery hay scent. It's suited more as an office inoffensive neutral blend.Reminds me of last year's On the Porch in the Rain

    An Interlude After Sake

This smells like sake!!! It has got a perfumey quality about it. In the beginning it smelled like fir needle and high pitched alchool, but shortly it turned into a woody sake. Does that make sense??? ?

    Yves St. Laurent Opium smell-alike?

Blood smells like spicy cloves and reminded me of opium.

    Stage Blood

I went through all the reviews, but none of them depict what Stage Blood smells to me, I get a dusty creamy spicy sweetness out of it. I suspect there's some clove and a dribble of dragon's blood and something else that renders the sweetness. There can't be cherry since cherry smells like almonds. Musk could be thrown in the mix as well, since the base has a musky quality to it. I'm happy i got this blend since it didn't turn out smelling what i expected it to smell in the first place. Win!

    Qui Aime Bien Châtie Bien

I get lavender and a blast of sharp flowers. Further drying, the lavender goes away and the freesia becomes more obvious and the honey is slowly peaking out. The tulip comes back and blends in with the freesia and turns into a wonderful spring bouquet. The honey note is very very light. The flowers are the key players of this blend.

    Effronterie

This is such a poetic floral blend. I just can't figure out what type of white flowers were used in this blend, but i guess it's the lily. Combined with the white musk and pomegranate, it's such a lush and floating blend. The pom just rounds out the white flowers and the musk acts more as a base. Truly gorgeous!

    Ides of March 2012

This is so different from the previous Ides of March incarnations. The blend reads on my skin as a delicious mix of dark musk and amber, up to the point that it's reminiscent of Haunted, but not as sweet and sensual.
