    Damnation

Damnation: In the bottle, this smells rather ashy, somewhat like Djinn. Behind the ash there's a little bit of something sweet, almost tempting. Like a delicate fruit being offered from the hand of a demon. Wet, this keeps the ashy scent, though it does seem to soften as it's absorbed by my skin, leaving it not so acrid to my nose. Wearing, this stays quite ashy for a while yet, but it's a bit warmer. This is like standing next to a smouldering fire with a mug of warm cider .. but the ashes overpower anything else. It seems to want to have another scent behind it, but doesn't really. Oddly, I like that. I don't know if I could wear this, but it'd make a wonderful Fire oil.

    Maenad

Very sweet and green. Brings to mind the sticky insides of a honeysuckle flower, and the pollen that gets everywhere when I have cut lilies in the house. When I first put it on, it turns very, very sweet. Almost fruity, it's so sweet. It's very nice though, a pretty floral that's not so light that I fear it will vanish on me, as some do. After a while this softens, but it's a very wafty scent .. I can smell it every time I move ... and it's only on one wrist at the moment! But I like this one too. Similar I think to Titiana, but not as bright or pretty. There's a hidden darkness to this one, something to be wary of. The scent, though, is a definite keeper.

    Cabaret

Right out of the imp this is a little bit smoky and a little bit wine-y. And I suddenly have the Donny and marie song in my head. Darnit! Go'way! When I think of a cabaret I instantly think of the musical .. especially the Liza Minelli version put to television. Miss Sally Bowles would indeed wear this scent. After first putting it on it takes on a more 'body heat' scent. This is the scent that lingers in the room when decadent men and women gather for a night of wine, tobacco, women and song. It's women's perfume blended with sweet wine, and the lusty musk of temptation rippling through it all. This stays somewhat 'warm' as it were, but it's a sultry warmth that invades your senses. More floral now as it's settled into my skin, dark and tempting. Seems to be sticking around pretty well soo, and is definitely a keeper.

    Snow White

Another one that I've since sent on because it would be better appreciated elsewhere, but I have to at least say something about it before I let it pass into memory. Snow White .. a gift to me from the lovely Clephan and her kitties I might add ... was indeed very white. A sort of warm, mellow white .. definitely coconutty and something else. but it was truly a white scent. I've had snow cream described to me, and this is what I imagine it tastes like.

    Spooky

I've since swapped this away for something I prefer .. but I thought I should give my impressions of this one before they were totally gone. And a huge thank you to Clephan for letting me try this! Spooky is a candy/cookie sweet blend .. something like a cross between tooth-rotting candy corn and a steaming hot cocoa to me. It was very delicious smelling, but like Bliss and Gluttony, I just can't seem to wear the overly chocolatey scents. Side note: I keep getting the image of a black cat when I think about how this smelled.

    The Red Queen

Oh my gods, that's red. Rich, cherry, sticky cough syrup red. As soon as I opened this one, that's all I saw. I could have closed my eyes and seen bright red, juicy cherries dancing about. Not that that's a bad thing .. it would only be bad for Jason's sister, I think. but for me .. I like the smell of cherry. I love cherry flavored Ludens ... eat them like candy, I do. After putting this on it mellows a bit .. which despite really liking the bright cherry smell is a good thing, as I'm not sure I'd want to smell like vibrant crimson dancing cherries. Something a little darker. I thing I detect a woody note or two in there, but they're fleeting, overpowered by the delicious cherry note. Aw heck, this is making me hungrier than Hunger did! It's really very delicious though. Smooth, like cherry cough syrup. Maybe a little bit like cherry menthol drops, but I could be imagining that. Overall, this one really does succeed at being the Red Queen .. crisp, curt, sweet when it cares to be. Where's the white rabbit? And the Flamingoes?

    Hunger

Evil Dreamsicle indeed. I adore creamsicles. Lovelovelove the creamy orange goodness. Hunger makes me crave one like ytou wouldn't believe. Right out of the bottle it's orange .. but it's almost blood orange it's so dark and wicked. Just putting it on my skin brings out the orange even more, mingled with a light vanilla note that is so unlike the typical overdone vanilla I'm always afraid to smell. I hold to the impression that this rather than being a sweet naval orange is more like a blood orange .. a bit tart, a bit spicy, and just a little scary to bite into. As the night draws on, this grows a bit more incensy, as someone else noted I think. but it's sweet, and lovely. I don't know which I would want to do with this, wear it or make it into incense and wax tarts, as I know I'd love for my room at least to smell like this, if not the whole house.

    Perversion

Jason wore this yesterday, and I loved it on him, but I think he's just not a fan of foody scents on himself. But believe me, he was absolutely edible. Definitely a scent you could put on your man for a night of cuddling. A long carriage ride under the stars. A sleghride. Nights like that .. yeah. In the bottle this is somewhat spicy, but a smooth, milky spice. It's similar to chai, but not quite as spicy as that. Might be the rum I'm smelling. Not a bad scent at all. On second sniff, there's a wine note in this, probably coming to the forefront for me because I do love wine in most blends I've tried. When I first put it on what I smell most is a strong wine note, but it's quickly overtaken by a smell that's almost but not quite vanilla. Is that the tonka bean? I vaguely recall hearing tonka can be used in place of vanilla. It's kinda like a smooth rum drink on me .. like a mudslide, but not chocolatey. I'm reminded of sitting at a bar with friends, all sharing drinks and generally being obnoxious 20-somethings. Later on this gets a bit smokier, warmer and almost drier. Definitely smoky though, with a bit of spilled wine in the background. So very much a scent I'll wear more often .. and I'll delight in telling people the name. Perversion. *purrr*

    Calliope

In the bottle: Whoo! Sweet! A very, very sweet floral. For some reason I think of carousels when I hear calliope, and this scent makes me imagine a carousel filled with gilded horses and griffons and dragons and lions and tigers and .. Yeah, you get the idea. All whirling about in my head, while the air is filled with the scent of cotton candy and fried dough and caramel apples and all that good stuff. I don’t know what might be in this out of the bottle though .. Cherry candy maybe. Wet: This is either almond or cherry .. I can never tell the difference. I’m wanting to say almond now though, because it warms tremendously on my skin, and the almond scents tend to warm, where the cherry stays crisp and fruity. Orange .. I get a whiff of orange now as well. Very bright, very sparkly. Rather delicious smelling, in fact. This in a tea would be delicious, definitely. Wearing: Still a crisp, sweet scent. Very delightful. Very alive with possibilities. I still think I want to find this in a tea, or a cookie maybe. Or candy. Yum! But I can wear this one more. Yup yup, certainly can. The mint and bergamot come out more and more, and I realize that’s why I think this would be a fabulous tea: it has all my favorite tea elements. The bergamot from Earl Grey, the orange from the pekoe I drink at work, and mint from my beloved mint/blackberry combination. Yum!

    Melpomene

In the bottle: On first impression, this is minty, but there’s something else. Something sweeter … the orange blossom maybe. It kinda smells like a bag of those orange slices mixed with a bag of the mint ones. A very herbal smell, but not in the astringent way, but more a good herbal tea, chilled, with a hint of honey and lemon. Wet: Mint remains rather strongly at first, and then I get a stronger sense of the lavender in this, the orangey-citrus smell seeming to die down after a short while. Still a very light herbal scent, darkening slightly as it is absorbed into my skin. Wearing: This scent remains very herbal and very somber on my skin. There’s a glow to it though, despite the somberness that I love. It almost smells like grapefruit juice .. The ruby red stuff that I can almost stomach .. But it’s not quite that. All I know is it smells like something familiar .. Something I like the smell of. Definitely a keeper here.

    Erato

In the bottle: I imagined a very rosey, floral scent for Erato, and while at first sniff I did get something that could almost have been roses .. It wasn’t quite. There’s another floral over the rose, one that seems, in the bottle at least, to be overpowering it. I have a slight hope that despite the rose, this might actually be okay for me. Wet: As I rather expected, my skin just draws out any hint of rose in any scent. And this is no exception to that rule. But there’s another floral hanging in there, making this something at once sweeter and darker than just rose. It smells like a perfume a courtesan might have worn, alluring and lovely. Wearing: While this might be a little too rosey for me to wear often, I imagine it might be fabulous to wear in a locket, and definitely is a luscious scent for an oil burner. It also might be a nice lotion scent too .. I’m going to have to experiment a little with this one, because while I love rose, rose loves me more, and unfortunately, that can get irritating.

    Hamadryad

In the bottle: After my unfortunate disappointment with the Hesperides I was eager to see if this one would be more to my liking. I so want at least one of the fae scents to like me. Hamadryad is green, kinda woody. Like twigs you strip the bark off of when you’re going to roast franks or marshmallows over a campfire. That smell of a still living tree. Perhaps a little minty too. Sweetened by something probably floral, as it doesn’t have the tang the fruity scents seem to have. Wet: This maintains the green-ness it had in the bottle, but blossoms as it settles into my skin. It’s definitely very earthy, but not a dark scent at all, Very fae. Very soothing and healing. Wearing: This is a bright green, not lime but something close to it. I think that’s what gives it the fae image .. The brightness. But I love it for its earthiness. This is definitely the smell of a tree’s spirit .. Comforting and cool and alive. After the disappointment of the Hesperides which just wouldn’t settle down, I am deeply pleased at how this one is warming to my chemistry, and know that this one will most definitely be a keeper.

    Chaos Theory

Our Chaos Theory: XVIII First of all, let me just say that I love this concept. Another, please! *winks* Now that that's done .. I'll review. jason says he thinks he smells grape in this .. but I don't quite get that. Well, maybe a little. What it does smell like to me is something sooty and smoky, and almost a little medicinal, right out or the bottle. Kinda like a cough-syrup I used a while ago when I was death-bed ill, and this was the only thing that helped it. I can't really pull out any of the notes in this .. I stand by my whole smoky-medicine-y description. Fresh on my skin it becomes much sweeter .. perhaps more of that wine/grape smell Jason keeps telling me he smells. I guess it's just not a 'grape' smell to me. It kinda tickles my nose .. but it a pleasant way. It reminds me of days when I would stay home sick, and mom would pull the loveseat closer to the wood stove, slather my chest with Vicks' Vap-o-Rub, and make me lay there by the heat all day. Following the wood-stove image I'm also reminded of burning pine branches in a campfire, the smell as the pine sap sizzles and pops. That's what this smells like to me.

    Black Cat

Okay .. this was one of the freebies in my latest order .. and I hadn't read this review until after I'd tried it. My first impression, probably tainted by the name but there you go .. was this is the scent of a black cat. That really was the first image in my head smelling this right out of the imp. I don't get any hint that there's rose in this, smelling the imp .. even after putting it on me and knowing it's there. But the saving grace of the rose in this is that it's not too overpowering. Even as I type, this is mellowing to something sweet and floral and just a little-bit spicey. I'll have to give this at least another try as a perfume before deciding if it's going to be put in the 'magical use only' pile .. but for now, I'll give it a shot.

    Scherezade

Oooh .. I haven't tried this one eith Egyptian Dragon yet .. I might do that. I imagine it's do well with Dragon's Blood too! *grins* It's spicy and sensual .. I think the red musk goes very well with the spice in this. I keep thinking it's going powdery, but then I sniff it again, and it's fine. In the bottle this is delicious. It's almost a green scent there .. I think that's the saffron taking hold almost instantly. Wet, it warms almost immediately .. the musky, smokiness comes through so easily .. and it wafts all around me. I can smell this over everything else, and I only put a little bit on! It warms to a very spicy, sensual scent. I can imagine stepping out of a bath .. an Indian priestess attended by a dozen handmaidens, each one swathing her in scented oils to keep her skin soft, the smell permeating the chamber long after she's been robed and brought to the temple upon the back of an elephant.

    Midwinter's Eve

I'm a bit Jealous of the people who have this in a green bottle ... I'll be putting my little collection of two imps into a smaller bottle, also green, and keeping the little label the lovely clover tied to the imp she gifted me with. *hugs* This has to be my favorite of the LE's that I missed, hands down. In the bottle it's very sweet. It reminds me of ribbon candy and that other hard candy my mimere always had in a crystal bowl around the holidays. I'd eat it till I was sick! When I first put it on it mellows to a spiced wine, but not heavy or sickening. It's warm in that mulled cider kind of way, and I can imagine drinking this from a steaming mug while watching the snow fall outside. Later it becomes a softer version of itself, still sweet and warm, and entirely the spirit of the season for me. Yule is all about home and family and love and warmth .. and this scent just sings of that to me.

    Lampades

I was inordinately excited when I read about this scent, and to have it show up as a freebie just made my night lastnight! But I was testing too many scents to be able to give this one a go then. but tonight ... it's time for Hades' nymphs to get a moment in the spotlight. Er ... torchlight? In the bottle: Sweet. Cloyingly sweet almost. Almost like a deep red wine, but somehow without all of the tartness that comes with them. I belive that's the cranberry I'm smelling .. and I do hope that note shows up in other things, as it's lovely. I do get a bit of a floral tone from this too .. but it's again like too-ripe something. Flowers just past their peak, that the heat is wilting and baking and the scent fills and surrounds you. Wet: Still the heady, winey fruitines, but it's not as thick or sugary once I apply it. I play a game. Age of Mythology. I have the Titans expansion. When you play one of the Gods, you get Lampades to defend your city. I love them, because they sound all mystical and spooky. In the game, their blood is caustic. That's what this smells like to me. This is the blood of the Lampades .. so sweet but deadly when spilled. It warms too, on me. more spiciness comes out, where it didn't on Jason. Wearing: I like this. No. nono, I LOVE this. "Loves it." It's Bordello and Old Morocco and something new all blended in one for me, just a bit of spice with the sweetness of the cranberry, and it's heavenly. Defintiely a fall scent .. though I could wear this year-round.

    Question about Paypal AutoResponder?

Thanks Brian! I know my order was posted in the wee hours of the 16th, so I'm willing to bet that's before the autoresponder was set up. Glad to hear you got a system for the lab though. That's very good news!

    Question about Paypal AutoResponder?

M'kay. I didn't get the email from BPAL, which is hy I'm asking. I'm guessing my order was received before that was set up, as I did so early yesterday morning.

    Info about combining orders?

Beth an co. used to be able to combine orders, but it began to make things too complicated, especially with some rather sizable orders going through and such. So there is no more combining of orders available.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Magdalene Queen Mab Old Morocco Xiu-whatsit Regan All of which are very lovely. I might also agree with Pele, if she likes florals. I'm not much able to suggest the rose blends, as they hate me. Or rather, they love me too much.

    Red Devil

I'm not going to review this the way I usually do, because it's odd to review a voodoo oil as if it were a perfume .. and I dont' see these as perfumes, really. Red Devil is supposed to be a scent that inspires lust and playfulness. Sadly, on both myself and my husband, it just made me wrinkle my nose up and want to wash it off. It's hot, and spicy for certain .. if there's ginger in this than maybe that's why it's not working for me, as I'm not really a ginger fan. Sadly .. swapping away this one.
  25. TygherRayn

    Shattered

Minty, grapefruity goodness indeed. In the bottle: Green. Lime green. Almost neon, even. It's sweet and tart, bot like an apple. Even sour, maybe, like a too-ripe grapefruit coated in sugar. Wet: Mint comes out in this one now, and it's a very odd scent indeed. Something like Mad Hatter is, but wetter. Brighter somehow. Wearing: I'm still not certain of this one, and every time I sniff it I decide something else. One minute I like it, the next I'm shaking my head. I think I'll keep it around a bit, if only to give it one more shot.
