    Bat's Blood

Whoa, a trippy smell. Dragon's blood with... something that reminds me of a Bloody Mary. Pepper? Celery? I have no clue. Its spicy, and after a short while the sweetness of what I *think* its dragon's blood wears off. Slightly floral and herbal smelling. Can't wear it, though. (You're not even suppose to wear it anyways, right?!?)

    Rose Red

The perfected winter rose, dew covered and freshly cut. This is a product of witchery. How this can smell exactly like a freshly-cut red rose is frightening to me. It's a beautiful smell, but I don't wear rose so I can't keep it. Any rose fans out there will be elated by this one! Thanks again Cinder!

    Graveyard Dirt

I was very interested in trying this one, and Cinder was kind enough to sent it my way! Maybe my nose isn't sensitive enough to any other elements in this perfume, but I truly only smell dirt. How it's done, I don't know. Why anyone would wear it, I don't know. This would be good for a Halloween costume, for sure. If you're going as a zombie, as Death, or something similar, WEAR THIS PERFUME!

    All Saints'

I was lucky enough to have a friend mail this to me (thanks Cinder!) and it is an amazing scent. A very floral, somber scent, as the name aptly implies. It does remind me of fall, but doesn't smell like it. It's the sadness, the heavy mood that reminds me of fall and All Saints Day. I hardly celebrate Halloween in this way, and the Christian version in All Saint's Day (a polar opposite of Dia de Los Muertos) is a more serious way to remember the dead. This smell reminds me of it. I'm not a big fan of heavy floral scents, but it is gorgeous and makes a memorable perfume.

    Delight

Too late I learned that I don't like either rose OR jasmine, so this was an obviously poor choice on my part. However, it is blended well and an attractive scent, just make sure you like these florals ON. I couldn't detect the frangipani as jasmine ALWAYS dominates blends for me. Weird. Anywho, I'm sure this would be an amazing scent for someone else.

    Bastet

Bast, Ubasti, Ailuros, Ba-en-Aset. Represented as both a domestic cat and a fierce lioness, she truly evidences traits of both. She is the Mother of All Cats, Goddess of Sensuality, Fertility, and a guardian and protector of women. She is also one of the Eyes of Ra, and in that aspect is an Avenging Goddess, seeking retribution and punishing enemies of her people. Luxuriant amber, warm Egyptian musk, fierce saffron and soft myrrh, almond, cardamom and golden lotus. I love the Goddess Bastet and looked forward to this one as I did Brisingamen (Thanks sophia_helix!). I love amber, musk, saffron... pretty much every ingredient. And yep, it delivers. Such a sexy blend! Its a great evening-out-with-a-hottie kind of perfume, and will undoubtably make you feel seductive. Double bonus for us Leo girls! Rowwwrrrr!!

    Mata Hari

When I first opened this imp, my boyfriend was standing over me. He leaned over, took a sniff, and reared back yelling "Ack! Bad breath!" No, he wasn't referring to me! He still hates the smell but I hardly think its that bad. I smell jasmine, and I can't wear jasmine. Ack. Its bitter and kind of burns my nose, and its got a lot of bite. Once it mellows on the skin a bit, its a very complex smell and VERY floral, and I can hardly detect the coffee at all! My nose is not a well trained one yet so I may not be picking up on the subtleties... however it's far too jasmine-y for my taste but for someone who wears that scent, they would love it!

    Delirium

Sweet (from the apple I assume) and rose. I learned too late that I cannot wear rose. For someone who likes this smell it is a terrific blend but just not me. Ack! Scent association: virgin, first word to come to mind. Don't ask me why... maybe because its so sweet and floral? A simple blend, pleasant and girly.

    Brisingamen

I eagerly awaited Brisingamen arriving at my door because 1) I needed more perfume and 2) I adore mythology and, obviously, the Goddess Freyja, so having a perfume named after her most prized possession really appealed to me. First sniff was OK, kind of mall perfume-y. But on... hmmm. Much more complex and delightful than the bland array at Macy's! Its amber, and... some other notes I have yet to identify. The carnation, maybe? Its floral and earthy. Nothing I'm insane for, like Bastet or Scherezade, but still a sexy and subtle blend.

    Seraglio

Seraglio smells like cherry when wet. Applied, the sweetness mellows and a delicious floral smell lingers on the skin, very warm. It smells like rose to me and I don't like wearing rose. Complex and very feminine. It is very delicious, however, just not a "me" smell.

    Hetairae

I had to edit this because the first time I applied Hetairae I must have had some other perfume on under it because when I later applied it to clean skin, it smelled much different than before. Yes, soapy. And kind of boring. Floral, light and indistinct. Sometimes it reminds me of baby powder. Oh well, another for the swap pile...

    Queen of Sheba

Good goddess, this has taken a seat as my next favorite smell next to Scherezade. Warm, soft, sexy! When I first took a sniff, the scent of some mysterious spices coupled with the warmth of almond really seduced me. I put it on immediately and found that, thankfully, it was compatible with my personal chemistry. I really wish I knew what Beth (assuming it was Beth) put in this; "African and Middle Eastern spices" is a bit vague. Sultry, decadent, bold and utterly feminine!

    Salomé

This smell is nice, but I am now a huge fan of jasmine (which I often confuse with ylang ylang). And Salome is jasmine, at least on me. I could detect the almond a bit, but when on all I can smell is jasmine.

    Samhain

My first impression: mall perfume. Ack. Too much alcohol? I don't know, but it was hard to detect the notes at first. Maybe it's an old vial? (Or does that matter?) On: Nicer, still too "mall-y" for me. The evergreen smell is nice, kind of green. The patchouli and nutmeg are also nice. Later: Faints into more of the spicy smells and the green. But it just doesn't do it for me. What rotten luck. First a miss with Jack, now Samhain. WHATINTHEBLAZESAMISUPPOSETOWEARONHALLOWEEN?!?!

    Jack

I am so disappointed! Jack sounded like such a delicious concoction, but when I opened it I was floored at the assault of butter to my nose. There is a hint of spice, I think it's the nutmeg, but the butter smell is too overpowering. On, it was too much and so I washed it off. Dang. I just don't like the idea of buttering my skin. I would still love a good pumpkin smell, so maybe I'll try some of the Pumpkin Patch. Oh well, I'll try it once more and update here. I want a pumpkin perfume, dammit! Later: Reapplied. The butter smell mellows out, and the spices come through. I "smell like a cake" someone told me, and another commented on I smelled like a muffin. It is a delicious scent, but I don't do well wearing foody smells. Update: I decided to keep this after all. I warmed up to Jack, and in fact am addicted to him now. Spicy, delicious, pumpkininny! The foody element wears off in time and really is a unique scent. Glad I gave it another shot.

    Chimera

Sweet, spicy... I'd sip if it weren't for the floral aspect. Absolutely delicious, and *perfectly balanced*. The cinnamon doesn't seem too strong, but really adds that kick to the whole formula. This perfume is genius... a big, sexy, genius!

    Scherezade

Hello everyone! I'm a new BPAL fan and had to share my $.02 here about my new favorite perfume. Scherezade seems to be the perfume I've always been hoping to find. It's the perfect combination of musky and sweet. Incredibly sexy and earthy. However, my skin seems to absorb perfumes and so I have to reapply every 3-4 hours or so, but maybe others have had more luck. Reminds me a bit of the Snake Oil and Morocco, which are lovely as well. This is an especially warm and smooth fragrance so it would be a terrific winter/fall scent. But I adore it so much I'll probably wear it all year 'round...
