Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Funny you should mention that-I have some Misk U. that I use for a room scent-on me it turns to burnt coffee.

    Red Lace

Oh my. This is (almost) perfection in a bottle! It doesn't morph on me, so straight out of the imp, I get this sweet, smooth vanilla-cream-sugar smell, with a slight pinch of raspberry juice. The scent is made deeper by something that smells "red" to me-I assume it's the red musk. Sadly, it fades a little fast (unless it's in my hair-then it sticks around). I'm not sure that this would usually be considered a "manly" scent-but I don't care. I smell smexy to me, that's all that matters!

    Twenty-One

Oh wow. This is (on me) pure alcohol. No juniper, no lemon or lime, just alcohol. It's not necessarily bad-but it almost knocked me over after I put on. Not sure I'll wear it on its own very often, but maybe it will work well layered with some of my others! All in all: 3.5/5

Looking for any Harry Potter scent recommendations

Seeing as this thread's already been ressurected, I thought I'd chime in! Lucious Malfoy would be The Bow and Crown of Conquest, at least to me: And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. Nobility and haughtiness befitting the Antichrist: sage, carnation and cedar with lavender, vanilla, white musk and leather. For the Dementors I vote, Oblivion: Salvation found in darkness beyond darkness, the blessed sleep of nothingness. Dark musk, wood spice, labdanum, patchouli, dark African woods, and saffron. For the Deatheaters as a group, Anathema: A scent as heavy as thunder from the Vatican, with notes that inspire every sin and excess. Black opium, with vetivert and honeysuckle. For Voldemort, Darkness: The waves were dead; the tides were in their grave, The moon, their mistress, had expir'd before; The winds were wither'd in the stagnant air, And the clouds perish'd; Darkness had no need Of aid from them -- She was the Universe.</I> Bottled gloom; the essence of oblivion. Blackest opium and narcissus deepened by myrrh.
  5. Ah yes, glorious 100+ degree summer. Here's what I plan on: Embalming Fluid Dorian Shanghai Schrodinger's Cat Phoenix in Spring Antikythera Mechanism and possibly Knockout Drops, depending on how heavy it is.

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Wow, what a neat thread! I've been around BPAL for a bit, but I'm always open to new suggestions (there's waaaaay too many scents for me to remember them all). Okay, here's me: I'm a guy. But I'm not terribly masculine. I prefer reading and art to outdoors and sports. I love sweet things (smells, tastes, etc). I'm generally a pretty good guy, though I do have days when I just want to be a bit...bad? I'm introverted, and 99.9999% when at a social function, will stand against a wall watching everyone else. At the same time, if someone makes the effort to come and talk to me, I'll befriend them easily. I'm loyal to a fault, which has resulted in me putting up with a ton of BS from people (it takes a lot to get me mad). But, this has resulted in some of the closest friends I have. I have a dry sense of humor. I loathe most modern comedies, mainly because they're low and/or crude humor. As far as relationships, I'm the "best friend/boy next door" type. I'm the one that the person I really like will come up and talk to me about their love life problems, because I'm "one of the guys/girls", or like a brother to them, or a good friend. Not always a fun place to be. :/ PS: My most favoritest favorite scents so far are Eat Me and Bones Trombone.

Walk into a florist's shop, inhale deeply...

Um, if you can find it on Ebay or something, there's a lunacy blend called Cold Moon, which is a wonderful cold floral blend.

    Bones Trombone

Mmmm, yum! So, when it starts off, I get a blast of sweet blueberry with a hint of graham cracker. After it dries I get the blueberry sweetness with whipped cream, and a flash of something "green" that I assume is the hemlock. Ye gods, I want to eat my arm. A+++++++++++++++++++++!

    Lick It Til It's Sticky

*necro-bump* Yum, candy cane! I got this as a frimp in a PiF, and yum! A nice, strong peppermint blend, not sickeningly sweet, but not straight up peppermint extract either. It doesn't last long on my skin, but it works wonders in my oil warmer! 9/10 (-1 point for lack of staying power )

    Morocco

Oh. My. Goodness! This is, this is....SMELLGASMIC. Seriously, it may have just beaten Snake Oil as my favorite! Mind you, I'm not good at picking out notes, but my impression is that, when wearing Morocco, I'm surrounded on all sides by light, puffy, golden clouds of gentle spice and warm sunshine. If only it stuck around longer.... 10/10!

    Phoenix Steamworks

Bleh! I bought this unsniffed, because the notes sounded awesomely AWESOME. But once I put it on, I smell like a walking nursing home! Bleh, bleh, bleh! NOT doing that again. I may see if my friend wants it.
  12. StevenBoatman

    The Phoenix in Spring

Wet and dry, this one stays pretty much the same: Roses (which is odd, because they aren't listed in the notes)! And not the nasty, composting roses smell that I got from Two, Five, and Seven. Instead, this is the wonderful scent of freshly cut roses. Deep, warm, and yet new and fresh. A+++!!

    Dorian

Ah, I am loving this scent! A bit of sugary vanilla, a drop of strong tea, and a generous squeeze of lemon. This is a great scent, I absolutely love it! I only wish it lasted longer on my skin, but that can't be helped. 10/10-On the "Big bottle ASAP" list

    Wrath

Cinnamon? Where??? While this scent is nice, on me it's more "Wrath of the Bubble Gum King" than rage swirling with hatred. Pleasant, but not what I expected from the description. Maybe I'll use it for a room scent.

The Bow & Crown of Conquest

Yes. Yes, yes, yes! Whoo, I love this blend! Imp: Something, well, ugly. Not really identifiable, but the first whiff made me cringe. I almost didn't want to put this one on, but.... Wet, on skin: I'm glad I did! Wow, whatever it was in the imp, turned into leather with the sweetest hint of cigar smoke and cologne. Very manly, and yet elegant. Very much the scent of Satan's avatar. Me likey!! Dry: The leather has almost completely faded, replaced by a deep vanilla. The combination of cigar smoke and vanilla is intoxicating. Is it bad if you can't stop sniffing your own wrist? 10/10-this is going on the "Need a bottle ASAP" list.

    Gingerbread Poppet

2010 version- So, this is my first bottle of a Yule scent, and can I just say YUM! In the bottle this is a buttery ginger scent, soft, creamy, and warm (gingerbread dough?). Once it's on, there's a blastwave of cinnamon (Ow, that burns!), but it softens to a warm baked ginger smell. One of my coworkers kept leaning over into my cubicle to sniff me (was kind of worried I was about to be someone's lunch). All in all, after that cinna-blast, this is a terrific scent! I think I need another bottle or two! >

    Cold Moon

Mmmmmmmmm! Normally, I'm not a floral fan, but something about this one is....wonderful! There's a hint of spearmint and some sort flowers (though I have no idea which ones). For my first Lunacy scent, this is a big win! Slightly soapy when it dries completely, but that's not so bad (there are worse things to smell like than soap, right?). My only nitpcik is that it disappears too fast!

    Snake Oil

Snake oil: My review can be summed up in one word: LOVE! Seriously, this is one of the BEST scents that have ever graced my nose! I can't pick out any notes, but I do get a very interesting mental image. When it's first applied, there's a burst of spices and I see a flash of bright and vibrant green and red scales, slithering through the underbrush. Then the spices grow sharper, and the serpent opens its jaws wide and sharp fangs gleam in the light as it bites down on soft skin. Finally it dries down to a warm vanilla as venom courses through veins and vision blurs as the world grows dim. 10/10!!

'Tis The Voice Of The Lobster

Sigh, my second MTP strike out. I really wanted to love this scent, it sounded soooo yummy! Sadly, it smells like fruit flavored hard candies that have gotten wet and been left out for a few days. Sadly vomit inducing. Hopefully someone else will have better luck!

    Two, Five & Seven

Oh drat, I was doing so well with the Mad Tea Party scents I tried! I thought they'd all be fantastic. Now mind you, I love the smell of roses. Really, really love the smell. Buuuuuut, Two, Five, and Seven is NOT what I was expecting! The scent never changes from the imp to the drydown. Rotten, rotten roses screaming death and violence at me. This is a nightmare where all the roses I've ever picked or bought are coming back to get revenge. Zombie roses. Oh well, maybe I'll find a better one.

    Drink Me

Drink Me: Toffee? Buttered toast? Turkey and gravy? Gah, this scent is driving me NUTS. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what it smells like/reminds me of. All I know is that I adore it muchly. Big bottle here! 5/5

    Eat Me

Okay, for all that Eat Me doesn't strike me as a very masculine scent, it's one of my favorites! Imp: Sweet fruit-flavored gummy snacks! Seriously, it smells like a just opened bag of gummy Lifesavers (and I mean that in a good way)! No sign of any cake though Wet on skin: Still fruit gummies, but with a bit of a sharper edge (the black currants maybe?). Still no cake, but oh so delicious! Dry: Ah, there's the cake! Sweet white cake, almost the scent of traditional wedding cake, with a fruity/berry topping. Not a lot of throw on me, unless I slather a ton on, but it lingers for hours and hours! This one is going on the big bottle list!

    October

This review is for October 2010. So, after my rather disastrous encounter with this year's Samhain, I was a bit worried about this scent. Here's what I got: In the bottle: Dirt and celery. Not a nice combo. I was very much tempted to recap the bottle and put it away, but I decided to give it a fair chance. Wet: Less of the dirty celery note, October now is more a drenched pile of leaves at night. Surprisingly, it doesn't smell as bad as that sounds. Dry: Something spicy, with a dirt undertone. Not sure exactly what it is I'm picking up. All I know is that, after drying down, October becomes a wonderfully mysterious spice, in a forest at night. Just exactly what a Halloween scent ought to be!

    Samhain

Yay, my first review! Sad that it has to be this one though. So, this is my first Halloween scent from BPAL, and sadly, it didn't work out for me at all! In the bottle: Patchouli. Pure, undiluted patchouli. Wet: My skin took the already strong patchouli scent that was in the bottle, and dialed it up to a 10. Bleh! Dry-down: Muted patchouli, with the occasional almost non-existent whiff of apple. Dry: No more apple, just patchouli. Sadly, my nose seems to find the scent of patchouli highly offensive, and goes into convulsions whenever I get a whiff of it. So, Samhain 2010 is not for me. Oh well, I have a friend who likes it, and so I gave it to her.
