    CCNow Questions & Problems

Read through this thread and you'll see that the CCNow status does not match what is happening at the Lab. If you made the order before the oils come down off the site, then you will get them. Shipping times have varied over the years, I am not sure what the current turnaround time is, but I do know it's vastly less than it was last year. I've waited as long as 2 months + for orders to arrive. You will get a CnS from the Lab when your order ships out. You can watch the Click n Ship thread to get an idea of where they are in order processing.

    How full is full?

Sometimes that's how they come from the lab. They use a calibrated machine to fill the bottles. The bottles can vary greatly with regards to glass thickness etc, and the oils can have different viscosity. Those variables mean that different oils in different bottles can appear to be at different levels, but in truth, they measure out 5ml of liquid. You can't go by appearance. You need to measure the oil itself.

Why are LEs limited? Will they come back?

Silentium Amoris is an example of a discontinued catalog blend being brought back (revisited) for a short period of time as an LE. In this case, this blend was brought back temporarily to celebrate the Lab's anniversary. Last year we got Red Phoenix and Pink Phoenix as LEs and Puck, Sepulcher, Three Witches and Despair as the revived/revisited discontinued blends. So the oils that make up the blends may not be rare oils, such as some of the oils used in the LEs, since the blends themselves were at one point catalog blends. (I hope that made sense)

    Lucretia

What a gorgeous scent! Unfortunately, my skin doesn't like it much. It's beautiful, until I put it on. I can't even describe what it does on my skin, but it's not nice. So, off to the swaps, there are too many other lovely scents for me to keep one I can't wear.

    Orpheus

Something in this one does not like my skin. I don't usually do herbally, green scents very well, and this one is no exception. I wanted so much to like it, but it's not for me.

    Bat-Woman

I love white florals - so I was really looking forward to this one! Unfortunately, my chemistry doesn't always love the white florals like I do. This one smells lovely in the bottle - and goes on beautiful! But on drydown it turns to soap on me. And not a good clean soap either. Maybe it's the gray amber, I don't know. Usually it's some kind of musk that does this on me. Whatever it is, I am sadly going to pass this on to someone else who can love it more.
  8. Nobody has mentioned Torture King. The lime in TK is wonderful! A beautifully blended morphing scent. And I like Whitechapel for in your face citrus. I would also second Aizen-myoo. It's a sweet sharp scent, really nice.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

I have one planned, I just haven't done the coding yet. But I have all the tables and queries and forms and whatnot mapped out. I just have to sit down and write the damn thing. I haven't been able to sit at the computer for long enough periods of time since surgery to get it done though. It's a real monster to design - at least this was. I am trying to include swaps and sales as well as inventory.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

I'm about halfway done with designing an Access database - although I have really given myself a challenge with it. I am trying to create something to track inventory, orders, swaps, eBay transactions, feedback, reviews, switch witch, TAL, BPTP and just about anything else - including adding in other retailers and additional products. It's a monster, but it's a good brushup experience for me. I am also not used to working in Access. I also want to put a front end on it using .NET and possibly make it web-enabled, so one could use it online. But that's a ways off. Right now I'd be happy if I get the standalone Access database working properly.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

CCNow marks the order as shipped when the vendor (in this case the Lab) picks up the order from the site. They assume immediate shipment.

    Storyville

Again thanks to Brienze for the sniffie! In the bottle: Creamy, spicy, vanilla/musk Wet: I only used a teensy drop from the end of a toothpick, but really, that's all I needed! This one went on spicy and smoky and creamy and maybe had a touch of fleeting pumpkin? Really just a fleeting glimpse of the pumpkin and then maybe more like a smoked sugar cookie. Dry: This one morphed through a couple stages as it dried. Went into a very foodie vanilla rum cream cake kinda stage, at which point I was ready to write it off (not a foodie girl) and then it changed again! Turned into a beautiful, spicy rich scent with a touch of cream and a touch of booze and a touch of smoke - all well blended as if you were walking down the street and catching whiffs of scents from different shops. VERY nice! I think again, I would love to have a little of this, but won't pay $300 a bottle for it. Or even $100! But it's a gorgeous scent and I hope everyone that has it really enjoys it!

    Voodoo Queen

Thanks again to Brienze for the sniffie circle! In the bottle: Spicy, smoky, incense yet still "perfumey" Wet: I get a touch of wine? when it first goes on, then it softens into a creamy, smoky, yet spicy floral. Dry: A little less smoky, a little less spicy, a little more green, definitely more floral. Feminine with a sharp edge. Very well-blended. Nice morph! There's something familiar about the floral - but I can't really pick out what I am smelling. A tangy sharpness remains from beginning to end. I can't tell about throw, I am using such a tiny drop off the end of a toothpick, but the scent is strong enough that I could imagine the throw would be pretty good. Gorgeous scent! Another one I would be happy to have, but won't give up my firstborn for.

    Doc Buzzard

Thanks to Brienze for the sniffie circle! In the imp: Sweet, resinous, rich Wet: Just a wee drop from a toothpick to test, but enough to say this is sweet - opium den sweet - with an underlying rich resinous tone to it. Complex and wonderful! Dry: Doesn't morph much as it dries. Very there. Very sensuous actually. Earthy and woodsy at the base with a strong sense of confidence, masculinity and strength. Rich, complex, well-blended. If I have a chance to get my hands on some of this without cutting off my arm or offering up my only child in sacrifice, I'd do it.

    Bat's Blood

In the bottle: Sharp, smoky, not sure what I am smelling Wet: LILAC! Drydown: still lilac, a little smoky, but lilac nonetheless. Verdict - not sure how it works as a Voodoo blend (yet) but I love the way it smells!

    CCNow or PayPal

Yeah - I know it's not easy. I've set up many a merchant account - both online and offline. And it's just not a simple process. CCNow is easy, but boy does it suck for the merchant.

    CCNow or PayPal

I loathe CCNow, but I have a credit card that will not authorize PayPal payments. Apparently they've had some issues in the past and they just don't want us using PayPal. So when I want to use that card (my only credit card btw) I have no choice but to go through CCNow. When my orders fall in line with my paychecks, I gladly use PayPal - I'd rather pay cash anyway. But sometimes the lunacies just don't fall in line with my income. I would love to see the Lab get a different processer, maybe even a real merchant account so payment can be made right there from the site. But I know what's involved in that and I know there are hidden costs and hoops to jump through to do it.

I managed to score an imp of this and OMFG I wish I was around when this was out! In the bottle: I get berry. Not strawberry, maybe blackberry? Or currant? Not something I am fond of, but I've learned to try it on anyway because what's in the bottle is not always the whole story. Wet: Still berry, but not too bad. A little something of a bite coming through, but not sure what yet. Drydown: Oh my - this is gorgeous! Berry is definitely mellowed and something smokey and incensy is coming through. I smell autumn fires and harvested grain and something a little sweet. Abundance. That's the word I would put with this. Hours later: Dry, sweet, smokey and rich all at the same time. Berry is completely gone, but something really gorgeous is happening on my wrist. Okay - if I could, I would buy multiple bottles of this one. I love Beth's autumn scents, but this one is definitely the best. I am going to have to scout out more of this (HA! Yeah - like anyone is going to give it up in large quantities!) Now I am wishing I would have bid higher on that 5ml that went on eBay not so long ago.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Are you sure you are being charged twice? Generally, the way it works is that CCNow gets an authorization from your card company when they process the order. The card company is basically verifying that you are authorized to use the card, verifying that the amount you are trying to spend is available at that moment, and then setting aside that amount for claim by CCNow. The card companies only hold that amount for 3 days and then it's released. If CCNow does not claim that authorization within that time, they run the risk of the money not being there. It's the same whether you use a credit card or a debit card. Once the order is harvested, CCNow then does the processing necessary to make the claim against your account. There is a law that says any payment made via credit card must be fulfilled within a certain amount of time. So CCNow fulfills their end by insuring that the lab has the order. So they don't actually charge your card until the order is harvested. Then the transaction is completed - they charge your card and they've fulfilled their end of the deal with you by delivering your order to the lab. So while they authorize it upon placing the order, it's not actually processed until your order is harvested. That's not to say mistakes don't happen and you weren't charged twice, but sometimes it appears that way when it's really not. Check your CC statement. Authorizations don't appear on your statement, actual charges do. Bank statements for debit cards might show pending transactions, but until the actual transaction comes in, it won't be on the actual statement and the amount will just be in limbo until it's either paid to CCNow or put back into your account.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

You want to purchase six and put 2 in the quantity box. The six packs are $2 cheaper than buying them individually. If you purchase one imp and do a quantity of 12, you are going to be charged at the single imp price, not the six pack price. And as far as an order not being harvested? I would write to the lab. I put an order in on the 31st and it shows as shipped (which I know just means it's been harvested).

    International Shipping Info+Questions

APO/FPOs are taking longer these days - something to do with customs. I read an article last night that said they are taking as long as 3 to 4 weeks in some countries. Germany was mentioned as one of the worst. Some companies will no longer ship to APO/FPO addresses because of the lag time in shipping. Hang in there. It's just government red tape. Another case of the little guy getting caught between the punitive politics of governments that don't know how to play nice with each other.

I LOVE this! I love civet to start with and the combination of civet with spice and incense is absolutely gorgeous! It smells wonderful on me too! This one goes on the order very soon. Wonder why it took so long to try it? I've had the imp forever. Maybe my chemistry is weird - but this one is a keeper!

Who do I email with questions? BPAL/BPTP contact info

Are you e-mailing from a free account like Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail? My Gmail e-mails usually end up in their spam bucket but my personal domain mails do not. That could be one culprit.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Your transaction is with CCNow, not with the Lab. They are acting as agents for the Lab. So technically, you are buying from them. They are legally obligated to collect sales tax on any in-state transaction. They then in turn transact with the Lab, who then ships the merchandise. They are doing business in your state. So they have to collect sales tax. Sucks, but that's the way it is. As far as why they haven't collected all along - maybe a law changed, maybe they screwed up and got caught, don't know. It's a question you should probably ask them.

    Midnight Mass

This former Catholic girl is in heaven. As much as I reject the Church doctrine and belief system, I love the pre-Vatican II ritual and this is right there! I love incense to start with - especially sacred incense. It does take me back to the 2 hour Latin high mass with all the trimmings. An absolutely beautiful scent. I am ordering more of this before it's gone! I can easily see using this both as perfume and as a ritual scent. Absolutely perfect!
