Bayou
in Wanderlust
It started out a calm herbal that I could love, but quickly my skin turned up the volume on the flowers. UGH
-
If you love southern flowers, this is for you.
-
Wonderful scent - I swear it reminds me of my grail scent, The High Priest Not to be Described. Its blended really well. Also, I think I need to add blood musk to my favorite notes.
-
Black musk, bay leaves, galangal, bourbon vetiver, blackcurrant, and rum.
All I smell is rum and black musk...I miss all the other notes
-
Was hoping so much for this one. Violets and vetiver are two of my best. But the wretched red mush starts amping, and it makes the vetiver turn chemically.
-
Was more blended when wet, now the berry sweetness is amping and taking away the complexity....
-
Surprising. On notes alone I would never have tried it. It's floral and the aquatic dominates, but theres a sweetness underneath. Its feminine and summery.
-
Cant believe
Ive never tested this before. Or if I did, it didnt smell like this! Thankfully with changing body chemistry (menopause) I think I can wear some of these notes!
This is sweet, lovely, and feminine. I honestly dont normally like scents with that description. A keeper for sure.

Really complex and strong, sweet aquatic and herbal. Something is amping and taking away the complexity again. This happens to me so often, its frustrating. In a few minutes after applying, the sweet aquatic and fake evergreen scents are whats left, faintly. Would love to smell this if it was made with pure essential oils.

Wet, this is decadent and the first strong rose scent I could enjoy! Sadly, something overpowers the rose and wine, and it turns to just a mediocre sweet floral scent. AACK, maddening.
-
Sorry but, ew. This combo makes me think of the sweat note in Sara Pezzini. Plus the patchouli is morphing into the sweaty wood chips again. SO sad. It could have worked if it wasnt so....salty.

Aaack. The sandalwood and honey turn to powder and nothing else is represented except the slightest tinge of old roses.
-
Immediate strong powder with a faint dirty note in the back.. had to reapply because it started fading pretty fast, which Im glad for. But all in all I do not care for strong powdery scents. No jasmine, and no detectable vetiver. Vetiver is one of my top fav notes.

WOWEEEE! This is one of those amazingly complex, expertly blended scents that I love. Everything comes through in a balanced way. Its rich and complex, not like the typical boozy scents I've smelled. Also the tobacco and rose, both which can turn bad on me, are perfect! The tobacco is trying to amp a bit though, as usual.
On me, the gin, whiskey, and rose petals are forefront, but the sweetness of the vanilla makes it luscious - The leather is there, but in the background supporting these other smells. I am testing this over a year after it was decanted, and Im glad for it. This may need to go on my wishlist as needing a bottle. No other BPAL I've tested has this mix.
VERDICT - A terribly sexy scent I want to wear to the kink club

Oy vey. Its funk. Thats all I keep thinking as it wafts up to my nose. The faun smells like funk
The honey musk and 2ndary leaves completely amps over the fir needle...so sad...it could have been lovely.

This smells good. Another winner in the vein of Silver Phoenix for me. The Apple doesnt amp like it usually does, which is such a pleasant change. The notes that made me get this decant were the white musk, angelica, and violet leaf, so I think they are what really make it a winner for me too. The fresh airiness makes me wish for a bottle.
-
Reminds me of my grail BPAL scent, Silver Phoenix! This combo is very similar but not as light and airy as SIlver Phoenix. Its pleasant, more sweet, airy, dry, and calming.
-
VERY lemony, rosemary, herbal - reminds me of kitchen herbs. Its interesting and Ive been waiting to try this with high hopes, but its not wearable - an atmo spray would be REALLY nice though! Especially for winter when things get stuffy!
-
OMG...I just tested this, I dont know what year, no date on imp label. Its gorgeous, balanced, and elegant. I need a bottle.
-
The coconut amps...and then like a startled toad, it disappears off my skin!
-
The first 4 ingredients listed amp, and the opium and spices, which I love, disappear. I wish tobacco and coconut didnt amp on my skin! It ruins so many scents for me. Not a keeper.
-
UGH. Just no. The florals are sooo over powering. I can barely stand to sniff it. Theres a bandaid kind of smell in there somewhere too...
-
Im seriously excited by my changing skin chemistry - this is part of getting older that I dont mind at all, and means I get to re-test alllllll the BPALs from when I first started testing...Coyote never smelled good on me...I decided to retest tonight...its beautiful, soft, warm, spicy. The softness and gentle quality is perfect. I need a bottle.

Surprised by this one! I remember testing it several years ago and it was bad. Now it blooms into a sophisticated, lovely, light scent. Its going on my 'need more' list.
