    Blood Twinkle

Mildly maniacal: dragon’s blood resin sparkling with shiny pink grapefruit, purple lilac, honeysuckle, white musk, and bergamot. Hmm. What I mostly smell is white musk and honeysuckle. Don't expect a dragons blood heavy scent here..its more like Incubus, Materialization, Ectoplasm kinda cascade. Its a strange viscous floral with (even stranger yet) pink grapefruit/white musk bind together, keeping all notes from touching ground. All other elements are presented in a muted horizontal row, just like my experiences with Blood for Cat and Rapture Pig. Neither offensive or overly bold. I have no complaints..just not what I expected. Fans of florientals will be happy and their brains pleasantly warped.

    Since There’s No Help

I mean... Is there something wrong with me that I find this refreshing and uplifting? Or does it make me gother than goth? Please say its the latter. I love it. Herbal sweet juniper white tea with lemon, amplified by white musk. The davana is brilliantly white as usual. What is WITH davana anyways? I mean is it a god/dess in perfume form?! Perfect summer refresher. Grab a bottle for sweltering heat days or the winter-bummers.

    Honey, Agarwood, Opoponax, and Leather

The honey plays backseat. Opoponax and oud/agarwood are in front and leather middle. Oud/agarwood is moderate to low amperage. Overall, drydown is pleasant in a fine italian perfume way (sorry for strange frame of reference. A friend collects italian perfume and it reminds me of this) its rich, unisex leaning masculine but honestly a lot like chanel no.5 or charlie in its oud/chypre appeal. Golden smooth and silky with a citrusy/ deep wood bite from opoponax and oud. Glowing warm brown in color feel. Complex. Honestly, the further I get into this, the more I love it.

    Apatrophia

She Who Expels Sinful Lusts A complex Eastern musk with orange blossom, peppermint, lime peel, spikenard, petitgrain, and white cedar. Wet: ooh wow. Strong spicy eastern musk with a multitude of ingredients that heighten my senses. The eastern musk is beautiful, sweet, spicy, slightly watery, and a little mournful. How romantic! The additions, oddly enough, stand apart on my skin instead of blending and amplifying the musk. I can smell the peppermint, orange blossom, lime rind, and petitgrain.. (aka: zzzing!! I'm awake!) Very green, with watery spicy notes from the musk. Drydown: ok everything is settling and melding with the musk finally. I think the wet phase caused me to experience a new level of clarity and awareness...Thanks bpal! wheeee! The petitgrain and spikenard stick around, adding brown and orange color impressions, and the eastern musk is pretty damn gorgeous with some lasting power. the orange blossom went slightly powdery, but that's fine and expected. Strange.. each time I sniff my wrist, I feel refreshed and release a nice sigh.
  5. Thanks for being a great swapper/buyer! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

    The Queen of Hearts

How have I not reviewed this in my 11 years of BPAL? I've purchased it, received frimps of it, carried it around with me... for years! Anyways...a bit biased bc lily of the valley, calla, and cherry are some of my favorite notes. This starts off strong white florals and sweet cherry, colliding into and cross each other. The drydown is so pretty. Reminds me of Right Atrium with its cherry blossom pink/white feel. This is wonderful. Sweet somber hushing soothing lily of the valley and waxy calla with just a bright sweet touch of cherry smoothing out the 2. Its been a fond one over the years and maintains its position well.

    Caramel Apple Cookie

Whoallyshitsticks thank you, lab!❤️ Nice surprise! Wet- applesapplesapples. Like I stuck my head under the local orchard's grocery cider tap when no one was looking and chugged like a fratboy on rush week...(dammit I've always wanted to do that. Life regrets....well maybe just as good, I did fill my hand with nacho cheese straight from the gas station machine and the cashier didn't charge me because he was impressed I had the grit to sustain palm burns just for the love of cheese...but I digress) Anyways...drydown is exactly as titled. Delicious. The apple has a pink note to it which brightens the blend. The cookie part is sweet buttery but isn't overwhelming. You definitely feel like you're getting a hell of a cookie full of apple chunks, juicy and fresh. I love it. Great staying power. Apple actually stuck around for a couple hours!

    Bilquis

Ok well...i'm reviewing this with what I thought I smelled before looking up notes... I smelled musk and cucumber rind, wet. Must have been the lily of the valley and honey? Drydown is a warm musk, notes of dried rose and almond and gummy myrrh too. Its lovely, feminine, bold, but quiet.

An Open Grave Underneath the Heavy Leaves

This starts out just as powerful as hoped; all dry grass hay and herbs but my skin consumed it in 5 min until it just smelled like the inside of a new box of shoes. Me sad.

    Unsettling Portraits

This smells like a couple Lush scents, faded and mellowed.... I'm thinking 29 High Street? Yes! That's it! The warm amber glow of 29 High Street! Its like I can smell gardenia and a bit of lime and tonka and everything! Oh wait. There's also a distinct books/bound hardcovers smell too. Even better! Its warm, comforting, sophisticated, and enlightening. These portraits can stare at me all they want! Lol!

    Sinister Groundskeeper

Simple, straightforward and pleasant. For such a sinister character he sure smells pretty! Its reminiscent of Graveyard Dirt or maybe Penny Dreadful when wet, with the bit of dark dry blood. I like the green touch of dandelions. Dries greener to Unsavory Gravediggers with blood instead of booze. I like!

    Disembodied Malevolent Laughter

All notes present, exactly what's on the tin. I'm surprised the resins against the light high notes aren't more manic and mismatched? This blends together quite well actually! An icy lemony white musk perfume, reminiscent of white tea but more complex.

    Bookcase Passage

Polished wood and cracked dry leather with a bit of dust. The aged neglected aspect of a well loved study, gone cold dry and dusty. Accurate!

    Icy Drafts

Agreeing with the aromatheraputic aspects of this. Its sweet, soft, refreshing and cold. I guess getting a dead finger down your spine isn't such a bad thing? Smells a bit like lemonade w/ mint in the drydown. Saving this for the summer heat relief!

    Cracked Mirrors

This is softer than I assumed it would be? I mean its great..but I was thinking more pronounced shattered sharp dangerous glass? Its not Sea of Glass sharp, for sure. It dries to a gorgeous soft white musky chypre floral, reminiscent of high-end commercial perfumes like Bulgari etc. Silver note- yes. Glass note- not as much on me? I still love it though.

    Creaking Floorboards

I can smell the black tea and what I perceive as parquet floor lacquer? I see the dentists office association for sure. It smells very similar to that putty stuff used to make mouth impressions. Great. Now I can't undo that association. Ohhh Seymour...!

    Endless Corridors

Goth to the hilt. Smoky, vetivery dark sexy beeswax. If I don't order a bottle of this, I think my lifetime goth membership will be revoked and I'll be ostracized in an outfit of shame: chinos & pink polo shirt. I better get on it. Excuse me now.

    Bleeding Walls

Cherry Ring-Pops!Cherry goop!Cherry filled candies!Cherry Blowpops!Cherry popsicles!Cherry everything! Were you the kid who always fought over who got the red popsicles and grief was real when you were stuck with only orange and lime? Were you beyond excited when Starburst came out with an All Reds pack? If yes to both, this is the perfume for you. The one that will make you feel like The permanent Red Candy Winner. May you never suffer red candy deprivation ever again, with this wonderful concoction at your side.

    Split-Level Suburban Tract Home

Ewwwmygod. Evil burbles like the amityville well in this basement, livingroom, kitchen, the toilet...especially the toilet. I couldn't put this on my skin. The indole is outta control... Beth has outdone herself on this one. Its an opus of emotive evil.

    Doleful Pipe Organ

Chocolate musky Cocacola? That's all I get! This started out strong but something fizzy like labdanum took over and its way lower throw than I expected... It could be bc I'm cooking beef stew atm and its suppressing the oomph. Will retest later.

    Toy-Strewn Attic

I agree with VetchVesper on the atmospheric Deserted Theater atmo vibe. I also get the metallic tang but its more straight up metal and no blood. The lab's porcelain note is front-most, with dust, lace and light blonde woods right behind and lastly, a clean rose soap note. Romantically victoriana bjd gothiness.

Liquid Gold is in the Air

Wet, its all golden apples and honey. Drydown is much more complex. I get a bit of that licorice tinge the last poster mentioned, which I believe to be the cedar (think Tombstone-esque) and oudh coming out. Its still a warm amber apple scent but with some herbal and licorice bite at the base. The throw goes to low in drydown. Nice but the whole experience fades quickly.

    From Sunset to Star Rise

Vetiver and oud lovers delight. Wet- I get lots of mature vines in front of roses & oud. Drydown- the blend is more vetivert/oud- dark green, brown, overcast November evening in a recently reaped farmers field. Don't miss this one. Worth a try, simply for how well it emotes this atmosphere.

    Sugar Skull

2020 version- LOVE this year's version. The cinnamon/spicy element is played down, compared to some other years' Sugar Skulls. That's a good thing, as it allows the 5 sugars to shine through and you can detect candied fruits...instead of it all turning into a cinnamon sugar shaker. Sweeter, pinker, and more playful than some previous years. Its PERFECT. Bottle for sure.

    Flickering Lights, Fluttering Curtains

Haunted Lace anyone? This blend is the winner of Weenie 2020, for me. The chamomile is notable and a lovely new note for a Lace blend. Warm buttery glowing cognac, vanilla and chamomile. Soft and sheer but with serious throw. ❤️ The davana does a great job at emoting white fluttering curtains. When mixed with the warmth of the amber and glow of yellowlight champaca you totally get the flickering lights vibe.
