Disrespect for Established Authority

smokey heavy almost clove-like. Settles to almost sweet (copal?) reddish and maybe vanilla over hints of leather, my skin eats it so it doesn't last long. -
a cooking-like spice to the musk at first. overall a very brown musk. *Maybe* a bit of sweet dragon's blood...or a resin? reminds me of other scents I like....but with a lighter throw
-
on my skin it's root beer...but more like a sweet, candy root beer, specifically Bottle Caps candy. very, very specifically that. the throw for that note in particular is nice, wafting around me like a cloud all day. The leather is there if I bring my wrist to my nose, and it's wonderfully smooth, blending well with the creaminess of this scent. The leather note lasts like this for a few hours. It's replaced by a delicate vanilla cream, faint against the skin. But mostly this scent is a cloud of sweet root beer Bottle Caps, slightly effervescent . not an everyday scent, but fun and different ...and very, very sweet candy-like

J.E. Millais Brown leather, tonka bean, guiac wood, and brown musk chilled by white frankincense, eucalyptus, and calla lily. I've not been first before. Hopefully, it is still helpful to some I'm a leather lover, and I like to try every scent that contains it. However, I really don't get any leather from this. It goes on very strong Floral (lily), white, biting, and clean (probably the mix of frankincense and eucalyptus). This does not work well for me, and while I like what the scent settles into, I'm probably won't keep it because the initial smell is abrasive to me. Eventually (an hour or so later) the throw softens -- the initial bite settles and I get a little less floral and a little more wood and tonka...and this continues till the initial floral and white notes are basically gone. This second stage lasts all day and is very pleasant and soft. I guess it could be described as somewhat leathery, but if I wasn't looking for the leather I probably wouldn't think that. I'm really glad I tried it on my skin as it softened to something that I would not have guessed from smelling the bottle.

more foodie than I expected. must be the fig - reminds me of oatmeal with a touch of cinnamon

2014 - lovely glorious leather tempered by musk and rags I happen to have the 2006 Krampus (the first year he appeared at BPAL) to compare this year's to. The only difference in listed notes is the 2006 has "black leather" while the 2014 has "black and rust-brown leathers." The 2014 leather note really pops a lot more for me. 2006 is more musk, switches, and rags, but 2014 is glorious leather. The heavy black leather note is tempered by the rust-brown leather and a sweeter musk. If you're a leather note lover, this year's Krampus is wonderfully dark, red, and sweetly sinister. In fact, it's replacing my 2006 altogether, which almost smells sour in comparison (though the leather comes out a bit more through the day). Both years are noticeable all day long, but 2014 stays stronger from beginning to end. 2016 - MUCH more hay than 2014 (ok, mostly sickly-sweet hay and some leather) and a shorter wear time. If you're a leather lover stick to 2014 *I put 2014 on left wrist and 2016 on right wrist and wore both on the same day to direct compare

This is a gorgeous lavender! perfect to relax and sleep with. the amber does come out to play after a few minutes, which turns the whole thing to more of a baby powder and resinous. I prefer I am Tired of Tears and Laughter

the cassia is a sharp cinnamon. as sqwook mentioned, it does remind me a bit of the cinnamon note in chimera (my standard BPAL I love wearing and my hubby loves on me), but it's much sharper - more "red hots" candy and raging cinnamon stick. after an hour or so the honey comes out and the cassia tones down, making it a really lovely spice but I'll stick with Chimera. the scent itself has a medium throw on my skin, and no burn. if you're curious about a cassia-heavy scent, it's a good one to try, but it's really for those who love them some cinnamon. *edit - hours later it's amping honey like crazy! cassia is mostly gone

don't let the in bottle scent stop you from trying it. i the bottle is very smoky dirty patchouli and vetiver, but there is more to this scent. I'm a leather lover, and I don't get any leather here it goes on strong vetiver and clove. The Patchouli quickly joins them As it dries it it turns a bit "sweet" - mostly the cistus (woody/herby/lemony) / rockrose and *maybe* a hint of rum settles as a light (low throw) mostly cistus scent
-
at first (wet) I got lots of incense, a hint of blood, and something lemony/woody pretty quicky on drydown it turned somewhat soapy with a woody bite
-
citronella um..what? yup, smells like I just sprayed mosquito repelant on myself
-
dragon's blood first then very incense-heavy and some clove overall, much more dark and heavy that I was expecting.
-
very biting and green. comes off more plant-green and musk. there is a very nice vanilla sandalwood, but *sniff* mostly a very biting, almost acrid green. the vanilla sandalwood does come out more after 30-60 minutes, but still has a bite. reading the above reviews....I should note that I LOVE Jareth and really like Paladin. This doesn't remind me of either in the slightest.

*heavy sigh* NO leather no fir no cedar or smoke or cedar smoke very clean almost fruity almost soapy very sheer and light .....
-
OMG I am so glad I got a tester of this (now I need to hunt down a bottle or partial). Goes on strong sarsaparilla but quickly shifts to wonderful sweet and soft honeyed leather, the vanilla and patch are subtly underneath the leather. I love it because it's sweet without being foody and provides a soft, pretty leather for me (normally I like heavier leather notes).

wow! this hits hard and strong with a very cinnamon spice. It's very black and red and very dry woody. it settles to cinnamon and something kind of woody, kind of black. I think it's the frankincense. it's a bit too much cinnamon spice with not enough to balance it out
-
ink heavy! and I agree with those above - cucumber/melon I get a beautiful leather too but underneath and not in every sniff mostly it's the cucumber melon then the ink I confused and a bit sad the leather isn't more dominant, but it is an interesting blend - just not right for me
-
quick sniff of good notes - I thought this was going to be a winner.....then immediately turns to an almost soapy version of the notes (like a smokey soapy mix) and it hangs very light/close to skin.
-
on me this is soft - not a strong throw I get cherry, then a sugary/apricot leather? maybe some pepper/vetiver? but mainly it's a soft cherry and leather that's really the best of both -- neither being too strong and the cherry not being too syrupy unfortunately this creates a BURNING sensation on my skin :@&*$!:
-
*sigh* starts great - an initial wiff of cinnamon that fades to a background spice, overall smooth, soft, warm...no note stands out then, within an hour, cloys I can't pinpoint the culprit note or notes, but turns a bit sickly. *sniffs again* (sour leather maybe?) If I sniff through that I think I still pick up a few good notes, but I shall be swapping this for something that loves my chemistry more.
-
Very sweet. Lots of cherry and leather at first. But it's a nice sweet cherry, not syrupy. I get some tonka too as it wears the cherry dies down some and it turns more suede and vanilla with a hint of cherry leather, stays sweet I plan on trying it again before making up my mind. I wish there was less cherry, but I kinda like the sweet
-
WOW very cypruss - very x-masy! there is cinnamon and incense NO leather after a bit, it turns a bit "dryer sheet" on me and loses the cinnamon

the mix of tonka and dragon's blood turns sickly sweet (sort of a cherry-almond-db) amid pencil shavings that are very blackened to top it off, it turns soapy on me *sigh*

Satan Starting from the Touch of Ithuriel’s Spear

this is definitely one for the vetiver lovers! and wow is it gorgeous! I definitely need more in the imp: vetiver dominant with a muddled mix of the other notes. hard to pick them out distinctly except maybe the currant on my skin: vetiver with a touch of fruity current and the musk and amber come out much more! and I can pick out the patch but it fades to the bottom of the mix. At first, I don't get any carnation that I can tell, but then it wraps itself around the vetiver like they were meant to be together.- 16 replies

In the imp: heavy cacao and clove, then vanilla-amber, current, maybe red musk. No patch. No leather. wet: very nice, current and cacao mostly, layered over musk, amber and tobacco dry: a musky fruity scent? really, I can't pick out any particular notes after it's been on a few minutes. but it smells nice I guess? It's also fading away in general, so it's hard to pick it up. If it didn't fade away from what it smells like wet it would be wonderful, and the first cacao scent to really work on me..but it just doesn't have the staying power that I like sadly, no leather ever shows up
