    Himerus

In the bottle: Sweet. Orchid and... something piney. Juniper? And some other florals as well :/ I'm really not certain about this, but here goes... Wet: Orchid. I didn't think I'd like this, but I really do. It's heady and sexy. After 5 minutes: There's a whiff of juniper underneath, but it's very faint. There are other florals--lilac, definitely. After ten minutes: Very, very floral. And the juniper's faded. This is sickly sweet and I'm not particularly a fan. For the swap pile

    Greed

In the bottle: Patchouli and something green. Oakmoss? Wet: Patchouli After five minutes: Oh. OOOH. There' something resiny coming out. Copal, maybe? After ten minutes: This is incredibly dry The drydown. This is pure resin. The throw is good and it seems to last. Bottle time!

    Faustus

In the imp: Cinnamon and violet. Wet: cinnamon and almond. After five minutes: Violet comes out: the almond has faded. I can't smell the frankincense at all. Ten minutes. The violet gets stronger. It's got quite a lot of throw. After 15 minutes: FINALLY the frankincense is coming out, but it's very sweet for frankincense. The drydown: sweet frankincense. TBH, there are other BPAL scents with frankincense that I prefer. Too sweet for me. To the swap pile!

    Dian's Bud

In the bottle: Melon and cucumber Wet: Melon. And then jasmine, dominating everything. In the first 5 minutes: This is very odd. you think "JASMINE!" and then it fades and you get cucumber. Then it's "JASMINE" again To be honest, it smells more like one of those perfumed handlotions you get at the chemist than anything else. I shall pass this along to my flatmate who likes it

    Dee

In the bottle--this is a dead ringer for the old fashioned cologne, 4711. My grandma used to wear that! Wet: 4711. After five minutes: Oh, nice! The overwhelming cologne smell is gone and instead I'm getting parchment and pepper. After ten minutes: Mmm. The leather's starting to come out now. The pepper has morphed into incense and there's a slight wood scent there was well. The drydown. It's unfortunately very faint now. Incense and paper. I love it, I just wish it lasted more.

    Bengal

In the bottle: almond and spice. Wet: almond. After 5 minutes, almond. After 15 minutes, sweet almond. Sweet almond all the way... for the swap pile.

    Cathedral

In the bottle, frankincense with something earthy underneath it. Wet, Frankincense. After five minutes, vaguely medicinal. After 15 minutes, it turns back to frankincense again. Finally, I get the cedar that everyone else is talking about. The dry down is incredibly spicy. MMMMM. Gorgeous. This is on my wishlist for sure. Four hours later and still going strong.

    Death Cap

in the bottle: dirt and musk. Wet: dirt. Dirt and something vaguely sweet and musky. After about 5 minutes, there was something slightly nutty. After half an hour: It honestly smells like mushrooms after you've gathered them fresh from a field on an autumn morning. There is a slight overtone of coconut. This is bizarre. I used to go mushrooming of an autumn morning and this is exactly what it smells like, except for slightly coconutty. It lasts--two hours and still going strong. I'm very impressed that this is so original, but I'm not entirely convinced that I want to smell like a freshly picked mushroom. I will need to think about this some more.

    Bastet

In the bottle: almond, but sweet almond with a bit of spice. Wet, almond, but quickly loses it as it dries down. Sensual warm spices but after about half an hour it turns sweet. I think that's the lotus completely drowning everything else. If it stayed in the warm spice stage, I would be happy with this, but as it is I think this is destined for the swap pile.

    Anubis

In the bottle, vaguely bubblegummy. Wet: myrrh. Quite sweet. Remains pure myrrh. It's got a fairly decent longevity--four hours and still going strong. I just wish it was a little more complex, or that the myrrh didn't drown everything else.

    Cathode

In the bottle: Oakmoss and mint. Wet, the mint is more prevalent, as well as an odd green vegetable scent. Maybe spanish moss? It's pleasant enough but very faint. Fades quickly. Why is my skin eating so many scents? It makes me sad

    Black Forest

In the bottle: Pine and juniper. ... Look, I could write an incredibly repetitive review about how this was pine and juniper all the way. Three hours strong and it's still pine and juniper. It smells almost exactly like a disinfectant we have, called pine o'cleen. It's not BAD, I just don't want to smell like disinfectant. I shall put it in my "Swap" pile"

    Danse Macabre

In the bottle—Frankincense and pine. Wet: frankincense. Dries down to incense fairly quickly and the pine resin comes out. It's pine resin rather than leaves. After half an hour: the resins combine and become nicely spicy. The scent fades very quickly—an hour and it's gone I do like this, I just wish it lasted on me. I think I may have to wear it in my locket.

    Carnal

In the imp: fig and a nameless citrus. Bitter orange. Wet: Fig, but it's much more airy and less intensely sensual than fig usually is. After five minutes: there's a slight tinge of mandarin, but it's fizzy. Not strong. After ten minutes: I honestly couldn't smell it on my wrist. I've never had a scent disappear this fast. It's pleasant enough, but completely doesn't last. May as well see if there's someone it suits.

    The Twisted Oak Tree

In the bottle: Mmmm. Oak and something sharp and green. Wet: PINE. Pine pine pine. Not what I expected, but okay... After five minutes: GACK. Musk. After 10 minutes: ahahaha. This isn't a perfume, it's a pitched battle on my skin. Pine and musk are sitting in opposite corners of the room making obscene gestures at each other. After half an hour: This is a battle to the death. This perfume is so wrong on me it's almost amusing. Now I'm off to have a shower.

    The Death of Autumn

In the bottle: Dead leaves and smoke. Wet: KHUS! Wow, this is gorgeous. Dirty and smokey. Vetiver can be quite metallic on me sometimes, but this is earthy. Reminds me of burning off in the autumn. That's interesting: wikipedia says that khus is produced from the wild-grown form of vetiver and is seldom sold outside of india. I wonder if this oil's from India? After five minutes: WOW. This has got some throw on it! Co-worker commented on it positively when I got in the car. It smells of piles of leaves turning into mulch but not there yet. And black earth. It pretty much continues the same way for half an hour. God, this is gorgeous. I am so glad I got a bottle unsmelled. Thank you very much to kittenmorag on lj for helping me out--I was interstate without my BPAL and she passed along some bottles that didn't work on her. After half an hour: Amber is starting to come out, but not as sweet as amber usually is. It's very sexy: somewhat reminiscent of a curvy woman walking around her garden that's dying for winter. Not a maiden, definitely lush. After an hour: Mmmm. Saffron. It's gone slightly salty. There's a slightly peppery, perfumey scent--maybe the clove and galangal mixing with one of the florals? After an hour and 15: Oh, this is getting more delicately floral now. It's white autumn blooms--this is proabably the camelia and chrysanthemum It does fade after about a couple of hours or so (all that's left behind is a very faint perfume) but for that two hours? GORGEOUS. The other thing is, I can't smell it on my skin any more but I can smell it in the air around me. Edit: I thought it had died, but it resurrected itself. It's now sharp floral, perfumey but not sweet. I can smell the galangal. This scent keeps gettnig better and better. OH MY GOD this is a keeper. I definitely hope it comes back in future years!

    November

In the bottle: sweet leaves Wet: Pine. After the first five minutes: Pine and ozone. The leaves come out in the drydown. It's definitely got that faintly nutty sweet smell that I associate with playing with huge piles of leaves when I was a kid. This bottle's a keeper.

    Hexennacht (2008)

In the bottle: Fir Wet: Fir and incense. NOM After five minutes: Some Ozone is creeping through and the incense has faded. It's a very cold scent now, but I still like it. After ten minutes: oh wow. Some of the amber's coming through, floating over the fir and ozone. This is people huddling together round a fire against the monsters outside. Oh, now the incense is coming through again. And musk. Usually I hate musk, but this is just the scent of skin. Oh my god this is gorgeous: I can only echo everyone else: this is intensely sexy.. WHY do I have to fall for discontinued LE scents? Dammit, if this ever comes round again, I am BUYING a bottle

    Penitence

*checks the label* I initially got something floral. Heady floral, which I like, but--huh. Not at all what I expected. But then it settled down. Mmmm, myrrh. I don't get much frankincense but mmmm. Myrrh. No, wait. Here comes the frankincense This is definitely bottle time.

    Tweedledum

In the imp: Green mango and patchouli. I eat quite a lot of green mango, and this smells JUST LIKE IT. Wet: Woah! Green tea! Powdered macha. After five mintes: Looks like I amp fig. Fig, fig fig. I can still smell the green tea which stops it from being too sickeningly sweet. After 10 minutes: The patchouli's coming out but it's still fig. I get an odd whiff of pepper every now and then. After 15 minutes: Yay, the green tea's coming out. Unfortunately also boo, the green tea's coming out. This is not a note that lasts on my skin. It fades pretty fast after that. But I still quite like this. I think I'll keep it unless someone else desperately wants it.

    Tweedledee

In the bottle: Sweet and orange-y: Wet: Orange sherbert with a faint hint of pepper After 5 minutes: The white tea starts to come out, but it's still orange sherbert. In conclusion: orange sherbert. And getting more orange sherberty as time goes on. I don't violently object to it but it doesn't grab me either. For the swap pile, methinks!

    Boadicea

I got a decant by the good graces of KittenMorag on lj. In the bottle: Mint and something sweet Wet:CARAMEL. There's an overwhelming sweetness. That would be the fig? After a minute: Seriously, hasn't anyone else gotten mint from this? This is just bizarre. In a good way! After five minutes: Oh, vanilla! With leather notes in the background. And something sweet and perfumey--I don't know whether that's the amber or the fig. Doesn't quite smell like fig, so I think it might be amber. The patchouli fades in and out, giving it a bit of an edge. After fifteen minutes. The fig and amber is coming out, making it smell more traditionally perfumey. I swear I smell mint though. Maybe it's the oak or neroli? I don't know what they do on my skin. The drydown: fig and amber all the way. With leather underlying. YUM! Hmm. I like it. It's quite different from my usual blends: the fig and amber make it much more overtly lush and sexual on me. But for when I'm feeling hedonistic, I think it would be great. Grah: Unfortunately, it doesn't last on me. Put on the skin, gone an hour later *cries* I LOVE IT SO. I think maybe I'm going to have to wear it in my clocket

    Al-Shairan

In the imp: Mmmm. Myrrh. And orange and patchouli and cinnamon Wet: Myrrh. Incense. Hmm. Odd as a top note, but I like it. After 5 minutes: Orange and some kind of fake fruit. It's the peach: it's not a true peach note on me, it's a fake peach, like you get in peach-flavoured candy. After ten minutes: Patchouli and orange. That's quite nice. After 20 minutes: Fake peach with a little patchouli underneath. The drydown: That fake peach is still persisting. Other notes come and go underneath, but the peach proclaims its superiority uber alles. The incense, which is dry and dusty underneath makes a late run for it, but unfortunately the peach is still there. Definitely not a fan. For the swap pile.

    Nemesis

In the imp: Cypress and patchouli Wet: patchouli and something fruity. And honey. After 5 minutes: ROSE. Okay, I amp rose. Where has the patchouli gone? There's something vaguely fruity underneath. After 10 minutes: Urg. This is almost sickly sweet. Rose and something honeyed and perfumed. Dates? Maybe that's the fig. The drydown: This is so sweet. All I smell is rose and fig. Definitely one for swap.

    Love's Torments

In the imp: Vetiver Wet. Vetiver. After five minutes: ... dude, it DID NOT SAY that lemon was one of the notes. This is weird: it's quite a harsh lemon note. Bergamot or lemon rind. I can still smell the vetiver. After 10 minutes: The white sandalwood is coming out. White sandalwood is kind of a sexy note on me. This is good. Still vetiver having a party underneath. The lemon is floating over the top. After 20 minutes: The lemon is turning slightly sweet :/ Dammit. I like lemon a lot, but I tend to turn it sweet, so finding a lemon I could wear would be great. The drydown. This is sexy as. I think I have to get a bottle of this. Sandalwood and Vetiver, with lemon floating over the top.
