    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

I was a bit afraid of this scent, the notes sounded lovely, but I seem to warp and twist most of the really popular scents. That's not the case here. I was given a tester of some year old Mme. Moriarty, and its fantastic! All vanilla, musk and patchouli. Its musky, and dark, a little spicy and delicious. I get a little hint of smoke from it as well. Its completely amazing and I need to get a bottle of it.

    Snow White

*sigh* Add me to the list that Snow White hates. (I had such hopes for it, with so many glowing reviews.) I also get the Play-Do, plasticy smell. Add in a pile of coconut/almond. It really makes me think of a scented Malibu barbie...if they made such a thing.

    Snow-Flakes

No mint for me. I ended up with something green, light, slightly sweet, and a bit aquatic. I can't identify the green, maybe a melon, which would be where the sweetness is coming from...but its not fruity. Its definately green though, and it stays close to my skin. It feels like a summer scent scent to me, like something I'd like to drink on a hot summer day. Rather like lounging on a chair in the shade, with a glass of sweet green tea. Not what I was expecting at all. Its not icky, and I'll keep my decant (at least for a while), not a bottle purchase for me though.

    Snowball Fracas

This one started of interesting to me, just like I hoped...all cold and dirty. Then the moss came out to play. I've come to the conclusion that I amp up moss the way I do rose. I ended up with an aquatic/floral moss with a hint of wintergreen (within 5 minutes of putting it on). It was very sweet, cloying, and I couldn't get it to wash off. It lasted for hours on me, despite my frantic washings. Neat idea, but the moss and something that turned sweet killed it for me.

    Lick It Til It's Sticky

Oh hi peppermint! Wow! You're really strong and minty! You make my sinus's tingle. Hey! Where are going? I wasn't being mean! That was a compliment! Come back! I love you!!!!

I get the gritty gunpowder out of this as well. While its drying its all gunpowder and herbs. Its a little sharp smelling and it keeps morphing from the gunpowder to the herbs and back again. When its completely dried there's no hint of the herbs or gunpowder on me, its very aquatic smelling. Its interesting and unusual, I rather like it, but am not in love with it. Odds are I'll pass it along to someone else, so they can give it a try, just because its a rare-ish scent.

    Depraved

This matches the lab description almost perfectally on me. I get a dark, lush, dirt with a bit of a sweet ripe fruit lingering in it. The apricot isn't overpowering, and it isn't all patchouli on me. The two blend together, and create something wonderful. Today I got told that I smell really good by three different people. (They're all ones that know I'm trying out different oils.) None of them could identify either of the notes, but so far everyone's loved it. I tried this before in the summer, and liked it but didn't love it. Now in the fall, its fantastic, definately a cool weather scent for me. I've got a bottle of it ordered already.

    Al-Shairan

In the imp: Heavy cloves and lots of cinnamon, I wasn't able to pick up any of the other notes. On me: Lots of cloves and patchouli. There is a slight hint of cinnamon, which is surprising to me. I usually absorb all the cinnamon in anything instantly. It fades rather quickly though, and I'm left with a lightly spiced patchouli. I like patchouli-the labs uses such a nice variety of it, but I can get the patchouli thats blended with other notes that works better for me. I'll keep and use up my imp, but won't be buying a bottle of this.

    Hemlock

In the imp: Its such a beautiful green color, I was excited to smell it. Very sharp and herbal, a little piney. Wet: Green, sharp, lots of pine, unidentifiable herbs, a slight medicinal smell-perhaps a little mentho? Drying: Ack! Its turned sweet. The pine and herbs are gone. Its warped into something very, very sweet and almost flowery. It reminds me of a pink cleaner we used at a place I used to work. I couldn't wait for it to completely dry, it kept getting sweeter and sweeter, so I tried to wash it off. Dry: I wasn't able to get it all washed off though, and there was a hint of it left on my skin. Unfortunately it stayed the same as it was when it was drying. Very very sweet, no scent of herbs or menthol or pine, just sweet and flowery-to me it smells a bit like lilac. Overall, I can't wear this, my skin chemistry warps it in a horrible way.

    Imp

Devilishly playful: white peach, amber, golden musk and patchouli. Mmmm...Imp! Wet, it smelled so good-I wanted to completely drench myself in it. Fruity and golden. I resisted the urge though-in case it turned on me. But much to my surprise, it stayed wonderful! Yay! It manages to stay sweet without turning nausiatingly sweet (which is something most "sweet" smells do on me). Fruity, with musks. Some people I waved my arm in front of it said it had a slightly soapy smell to it. It's a bit of a fall scent, without being so fallish that it can't be worn year-round. Absolutely delicious, I want to take a bite out of myself. I already have a larger bottle of this on order, and it's definately my new favorite. On my second time with this: it went a little sweeter than the first, borderline too sweet. It also is fading very quickly. I guess this is one of the scents that won't be the same on me all the time-which I can't complain about, since most of them are always the same. Still nice, but no longer the best thing ever.

I tend to amp up any hint of rose in a scent, but I like orange blossom and love rosemary, so I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately its all rose. Sweet sickening rose. It eventually (after about 4 hours), and turns into a rather unpleasant pile of musty old flowers. It reminds me of the elderly women who used to sit in front of me when I went to to church as a child; floral, heavy and cloying. It was hard to breathe it in, and I had to go wash it off. I was hopeful, but this is going to go into my stack to get rid of.

    Embalming Fluid

Wet: delicious, lemony, smells drinkable. Dry: Lemony, light and clean. Very clean. The aloe comes out quite a bit, and adds a slightly soapy smell to the lemon. Its definately got a "was just cleaning" scent to it. Not something I'd want to wear on a regular basis. I don't love it, and I don't hate it.

    Vixen

I adore Vixen. Its warm, and spicy. Mostly I get the scent of ginger, with a bit of earthiness and topped off with some sweetness. Almost all ginger though. Which is fabulous for me, because I love ginger. It also lasts most of the day on me (it fades very slowly), the next morning I can usually catch a hint of it of my skin. I immediately bought a larger bottle of this, before my imp ran out. I didn't want to open my BPAL storage box and not have any in there. Its definately my most used scent, of the ones I tried so far.

    Wrath

Wet-it smells very heavily of cinnamon/clove oil and burns my skin a little. Rather like some bad spiced tea I had tried one time (all cinnamon oil, and no tea flavor to it). My skin eats up cinnamon very quickly, so it turned into heavy clove oil. As it dried, the dragon's blood mellowed out the cloves. So now I have a scent of sweet flowers (lilac perhaps) with a hint of spices. It reminds me of Easter-with the Easter lily on the table and the smell of spiced hot cross buns fresh out of the oven. By then of the work day, it had faded to just a hint of flowers with a smidge of cloves lingering about. As a whole, not something I'd really want to wear very much. The end result is ok, but not good enough to buy a larger bottle-especially with the dry down time being a bit nasty on me.

    Cheshire Cat

At first I thought it smelled like lemons (I didn't have the description with me when I tried it on). Then as it started to dry, I thought it smelled like Bacardi's Limon Rum with soap. When it completely dried, it became fabulous. (Though I did like the Bacardi scent too.) Its very light and clean smelling. Citrusy, fruity and a little flowery. Its the most girly smelling oil I've tried, and I love it! (I normally like spicy or dark scents.) Something in it makes my skin feel a little tight and tingly, but its not a bad enough reaction to make me not want to wear it. So far its lasted longer than I thought it would too, I figured it would be gone in a couple of hours. Its been 6 hours and I can still smell it, though not as strongly. I'll definately be buying more of this.

    Plunder

Unlike most of the reviews, I don't get much/any cinnamon out of it. I think my chemistry eats up all the cinnamon very quickly. Instead I get a lovely dry woody/slightly spicy scent out of it. Exactly what I would imagine a ship full of pirate goods would smell like-no one scent stands out-it all blends together and leaves an impression of spices. Unfortunately for me, it's very strong when I put it on, but fades quickly. An hour later and there's just a dusting of spices left and within 3 hours there's nothing left. I'll be trying some of the hints to make it last longer, because I do really like it.

    Black Rose

I'm not normally a floral kind of girl, in fact I've been avoiding oils with floral notes in them. Until now. I decided to risk it and try a rose scent from the lab-I like roses, but have always hated everything that wasn't an actual rose. In the bottle, it smelled like piles of roses, and I was happy. I wasn't able to catch anything other than rose, but it was a lovely rose and I could imagine wearing it once in a while. But then I put some on and it dried. It became a dark and sexy, with a hint of rose left in it. It's a luxurious rose, with plenty of hedonistic tendencies. I never would have expected a rose to smell like this, its wonderful and I've had my nose pressed to my wrist for most of the day. There is definitely going to be a larger bottle of this in my future-I feel slightly wicked and prowly while wearing this.
