    Anactoria

2010 When first applied, I get a blend of currants and musk that is simply beautiful. However, the currants seem to disappear rather quickly leaving the musk to run rapid. After letting it sit for a bit, a faint sweetness emerges to calm the musk down. It's definitely a scent that I can see myself wearing on days where I just want to feel pretty.

The Malignant Dreams of Cthulhu in Love

The minute it hit my skin all I could smell was mint, salty chocolate. As it begins to dry down, the incense seems to start peaking out quite a bit. Usually predominately chocolate blends (Spooky ) turn to burnt plastic on my skin, but not with this blend ... thank goodness! I think the incense and sea salt really help to keep this from turning on me. I don't wear chocolate scents too often, so I'm happy with my decant.

    Banshee Beat

Unfortunately, this scent is very faint on me. From what I can smell, it is creamy woodsy blend. I don't get any patchouli at all, which is odd because I usually have a tendency to amp it. If this wasn't so faint on me, I could see myself hunting for a bottle of this.

    Sweet Life

Wow, gardenia and pikaki sure are making an entrance! I don't get too much of the lily or the ylang ylang, but that's perfectly fine with me. This blend is very intense and very floral, so it's not for the faint of heart. I absolutely love it and wish I had been able to get a full bottle. However, for now I will treasure my decant and hope that I can locate more in the future.

    Ü Mütter Museum

I was a little confused when I first applied this because all I could smell was grass, which I am guessing is from the balsam note. However, as it drys down the leather and vanilla seem to get stronger. The vanilla gives it a sweetness, while the leather adds dusty sexiness to it. This actually reminds me of the dim-lighted corners of the library where the much older, less popular books can be found. I've never smelled anything quite like this blend before and I'm while I'm happy I was able to, I don't think I'll be searching for a full bottle.

Creamy honey with a hint of dirt. As it drys, I definitely pick up a fuzzy/cuddly vibe from it that seems to warm it up a bit. It's an oddly comforting scent that I can see wearing on days where the icky weather makes me feel all blah. I currently have a full decant of it, but I might go and pick up a full bottle before it comes down.

    Black Death

At first this smelled like cola on me! Fizziness and all, which is really weird. That went away within a couple of minutes, though, and was replaced by darkness. The patchouli, tobacco and clove notes seem to be the most dominant on my skin because I can't smell anything else. I agree with others that this is a very sexy blend, but unfortunately it's not for me.

    Black Lace

Expensive hotel soap. It's quite a sharp scent upon initial application and I'm not too sure I like it. That sharpness, however, does begin to calm down a bit as the oil begins to dry. Unfortunately, the soapiness that I initially picked up on doesn't seem to go away at all. I really wanted to love this, especially after all the excitement about its re-release, but I don't think it was meant to be.

    Black Heart

YUM! This is bright and juicy -- I get lots of grapes, pomegranates and plum with just a hint of musk. Once it dries completely, it reminds me faintly of a grape blow pop. I think this is going to be perfect for summer, so I had to pick up a bottle.

    Purple Phoenix

This scent is AMAZING. Usually when someone says that a scent smells like a color, I'm all "Wha?!" but I totally get it now b/c this totally smells purple to me! The violet is the most predominate note on my skin, but as it dries down a background of fruit emerges. I'm so glad that I found a bottle!

This is the only scent from the collection that I knew was going to be an instant win for me. It is just a simple blend of magnolia and peaches with just a hint of honey, but it's perfect in every way imaginable. A bottle of this is definitely going in my next order.

I want to start off by saying that I was a little afraid of this scent b/c chocolate is usually a big death note for me. However, on my skin the chocolate is non-existent ... yay! Wet, it is very fruity (mostly the plum) with just a hint of the red musk and ginger. Dry, all three of the previously mentioned notes co-mingle into something extremely sexy. Just like Flora, this is a very light scent on my skin, not one where I have to put my nose right up against my wrist to smell it. In time, I can definitely see myself picking up a bottle.

Oh gardenia, how I love thee! This seems to be the only floral scent that I am getting from this blend, but that's I'm totally cool with that. It's starts out very sharp and heady, but it calms down considerably as it dries. Just like Flora, this is going to be perfect for springtime ... *adds bottle to list*

Why hello there Cedarwood, nice to meet you! As soon as I opened the vial and applied it on my wrist, I was hit by this note ... well, it actually kind of screamed at me. Once dry it calms down tremendously and I begin to pick-up the jasmine, rose, black tea and hint of honeysuckle. The nectarine gives it teeny bit of brightness, while the sweet clove adds a touch of darkness to the already apparent cedarwood. I wasn't expecting to like this because of the initial scent of cedarwood, but it's actually starting to grow on me a bit. I'll stick with my sniffie for now, but I think I might pick this one up down the road.

    Flora

Wow, this is so pretty! It starts out very heavy on the apple blossom and wet fruits, but as it begins to dry down the amber and sandalwood come out to play. Once dry it's a very light scent on my skin, but one where I don't have to put my nose up to my wrist to smell it. This is going to be perfect for springtime, so I'm definitely picking it up in my next order.

I'm immediately hit with the scent of the tea rose both when I opened the vial and when I applied it on my wrist. It's a more subdued rose scent than I'm use to and I like it! As it dries the vanilla bourbon and jasmine come out a bit more. The jasmine seems to make it more floral and feminine, while the vanilla bourbon seems to help round it all out. To me, it's a very antique-ish perfume that strikes me as something that ladies from the Victorian era would wear. I'm ultimately going to have to pick up a bottle of this.

    Crib Girls

When first applied this smells exactly like a lemon lollipop, YUM! It starts out as a very bright scent, but as it slowly dries the honey turns into something more calming. Actually now that I think about it smells like a less-sweetened more-tart version of fruit loops. Not sure if I need a full bottle of this just yet.

    Silver Phoenix

After hearing all the great reviews on this scent, I knew I had to try this sniffie first. I'm so glad that I did because its absolutely GORGEOUS! I definitely get the 'violet' feel from it like others have, but its not really that profound on my skin. It's a sweet powdery floral with just a hint of that sexiness that amber usually turns into on me. The more this one dries, the sweeter is becomes ... definitely going to be getting a bottle of this!

    Gold Phoenix

My first impression upon initial application is CITRUS~!! It actually reminds me a lot of freshly peeled oranges. As it dries, the three ambers and verbena seem to come out more. It's a very light scent without much throw on my skin, so I think my sniffie will suffice for now.
  20. musichappens

    Copper Phoenix

This is a *very* faint scent on my skin, but I am able to detect the orange and patchouli quite well. Once it's completely dry, the amber becomes much more noticeable and the patchouli goes into hiding. If this was a stronger scent on my skin, I'd be picking up a bottle.

    Lead Phoenix

BLEH!! The tobacco absolute seems to scream at me the minute I put this one, so initially I wasn't too sure if I should let it sit or go and scrub it off. However, I decided to let it sit and see what it did and I'm so glad that I did!! Approximately 10 minutes after my initial application, the plum seems to emerge along with some beautiful resins. This is the surprise-sleeper-hit out of all the Anniversary scents for me and I'm definitely going to need a bottle. I'm, also, so glad that I was able to get sniffies of all the Phoenixes to test before I purchased any because I don't think I would have tried this otherwise. Oh, and I have a feeling this is going to age beautifully!

    Tin Phoenix

When first applied, it smells just like pledge on me. As it dries down it becomes more of a very sweet/candy-ish scent that has a very low level of intensity. I'm not very fond of lemon scents, so there isn't a bottle of this anywhere in my future.

    Iron Phoenix

Hmmm ... I don't think I've ever smelt something like this before and I'm not sure what to make of it. I do detect the dragon's blood and something else making it a 'dark' scent (perhaps the dark, dense metal?). This is actually the only one of the phoenixes that even remotely remind me of its namesake. This is definitely a no-go for me because it's giving me a headache and making my nose extremely itchy.

    Quicksilver Phoenix

This starts out as a very sharp lavender; however once it completely dries, both the white sandalwood and the cinnabar come out to play. This turns out to be a very soothing and calming scent. That being said I don't think I will be purchasing a full bottle only because I prefer TKO.

    Midnight Mass

2009 Version This started out as a unique scent that I thought I could grow to like, but after about 30 minutes I changed my mind. It just made my nose so super itchy that I scrubbed my wrist to get the scent off.
