    Bourbon Vanilla Bath Oil

Cold sniff: Faint bourbon vanilla. Wet: Much as on cold sniff. Not sure why this is! Dry: My dry skin just drank this up immediately! Not any change in the scent. Just a tiny bit disappointed.

Rose Petals and Champa Hair Gloss

Cold sniff: A few red rose petals floating in a bowl of the red wine kyphi. In my hair: And wow, just like that, the frank, champa, and myrrh march right in! The red roses and red wine are still present, but not as strong at first. Over time, all notes blend together in a harmonious whole.

Red Patchouli and Fig Hair Gloss

Cold sniff: A mild patch w/ a hint of sweetness from a just starting-to-ripen fig. In my hair: A stronger scent on my hair. I like it and think it will work best for late summer/early autumn.

    Late Autumn Honey Bath Oil

Cold sniff: Wildflower honey (sweet but not too sweet) with the herbal touches of sage and hyssop to lighten the sweetness. Wet: The herbs shift forward. Dry: I like this, as it's like a summertime version of L'Autemno bath oil (my all-time fav bath oil), but it does leave only a faint scent. Nice for spring/summer.

    Nice Candle

I saved this candle for spring/summer and decided to light it just today. Cold sniff, it's strawberry for sure, but there's something else, a little fresh green, and a hint of musk, probably a white musk. After burning for an hr, it's much as on cold sniff, but it's a bit more perfumy, so to speak. I do like it a lot.

The White Bees Swarming Hair Gloss

Mostly frost over honey when sniffed from the cap. On my hair, the honey comes forward to mix with the frost note, which is the icy ozone note. A nice scent on my hair, blending both notes into a lovely mix.

    Frosty Silkybat Hair Gloss

Snowy patch is what I sniff from the cap. This is the icy ozone snow note, not the sweet snow note or the minty snow note (the fear of the latter was the only thing keeping from ordering a bottle the moment the update went live). On my hair, it is mostly the icy snow note, a gentle patch, and just a hint of sugar and vanilla. This is a great snowy hair gloss for winter-time.

    Honeyed Frankincense Hair Gloss

This smells like honey and frank from the cap. Nice. But when I spray on my hair, the honey myrtle bounds out and its woodsy scent really takes over and leaves the honey and frank in the dust, so to speak. I'll keep my decant for the late summer/early autumn, but I don't need more than that. Would have liked more honey and frank, and less honey myrtle.

    Neither Peace Nor Rest

In the decant: A little sweetness like honey or vanilla, a chilly feeling, a hint of mint. Wet: A little colder, a tad more minty, and a touch of white musk. The dry-down: The underlying sweetness is all but gone, and the mint note is slowly fading. What's left is the icy ozone snow note, but it is not pure, as it's layered over that white musk note. It's like fresh snow has fallen deeply over the forest floor. There's no woodsy note nor dirt note, mind you, but the white musk note may be what the snow might smell like as it mixes with forest loam, that decaying matter that isn't quite soil yet, but is pass being just dead vegetation. I rather like it.

    A Lady Tall and White

In the decant: It's the ozone snow note, very chilled, permeatting the vanilla sandalwood. Wet: Much as on cold sniff, w/ a little bit more of the vanilla sandalwood coming out. The dry-down: Mostly the frosty icy ozone snow note, with just a hint of the vanilla sandalwood note. A very pale and frosty lady, indeed.

Trying to find the right winter scent for me

Forget what thread we were discussing this in, but some of have come to the conclusion that the Lab uses 3 different snow notes. I figure that there is a sweet snow note, as in Snow White, a minty snow note, as in Nuclear White, and an ozone or icy snow note, as in Moon of Ice. So the next big trick is figuring out which snow note is what blend. I've found that joining a decant circle helps for the new snowy blends. My reviews on past snowy scents should have the type of snow note, as I double-check them. And of course, read all the rest of the reviews!

    Krampus' Shadow

In the decant: Lots of gritty patch, like the patch in OWS, some musk, and a woodsy note that might be the birch tar. Wet: Much as on cold sniff, but the three notes are starting to blend. Smells good. The dry-down: The patch, and the musk, and the birch tar have blended together to create a wonderful masculine scent that's greater than the sum of its parts. It is great on and just as good on the bf, so I've gifted him my decant. We're contemplating a bottle; it's just that good.

    The Radiance of an Opium-Dream

In the decant: Florals and opium tar. Wet: Much the same as on cold sniff. The dry-down: Just a nice mix of lily, orchid, jasmine, and tuberose given a mild undercurrent of headiness by the opium tar. Granted, I usually stay away from tuberose and lily, but I like all the other notes, so I gave this a chance. This should be nice for spring-time. Nice, but I have other floral blends that I prefer. I'll keep and use the decant once it's warmer weather here.

    Winter-Time

This is for the 2014 version. In the decant: Minty snow, w/ a hint of sweetness. The mint is that note used in the Wintermint gum or maybe even a spearmint note. Wet: The mint recedes a bit, and the sweetness moves forward. The dry-down: Minty-sweet snow with lots of throw. I can only wish that this was less minty and more sweet.

    Chocolate Stout Cupcake

In the decant: Chocolate cake with frosting that has a hint of ink. Wet: More like the dry but excellent cocoa powder. The dry-down: There's something dark in the bottom of the decant that, try as I might, I can't shake loose. I hope my bottle from the Lab will mix better than this. The tester at WC was an amazing chocolate scent. This decant is a nice chocolate scent, though.

    Yuletide

This is for the 2014 version. In the decant: Sweet red holly berries, juicy and fresh. Wet: Now the berries are growing a little tart. The dry-down: Tart berries with a hint of sweetness. No leaves, waxy or sharp, in sight. This is rather a morpher, but I'll keep the decant. There's a couple of hollies amongst the hedging at the bf's house.

    Faunalia

This is for the 2014 version. In the decant: Forest scents aplenty. Wet: A dark forest full of musky and planty scents. The dry-down: There's the bitterness of the hemlock, the herbal scents of bryony and mandragora, all in the forest, w/ hints of musk and opobalsamum. A lovely dark forest.

    Halôa

This is for the 2014 version. In the decant: All the notes mixing nicely. Wet: Cake with all the other notes. The dry-down: This is very much like Haloa of past years--yummy cake baked in olive oil w/ wine grapes as a garnish, juiced over the top, with a dish of myrrh, frank, and olive leaf close by.

    Chanukkiyah

This is for the 2014 version. In the decant: The baked note of the sufganiyot. Wet: Now the other notes appear, in a glorious muddle. The dry-down: A rather yummy sufganiyot, baked w/ olive oil, pome, and fig. Close by is a softly glowing beeswax candle, stuck abt with bits of amber. Very excellent, this scent is, this year.

    Nuclear Winter

This is for the 2014 version. In the decant: Chilled mints and cold ozone. Wet: The sweetness of the ozone tries to strike back. The dry-down: This year's version seems to be more abt the ozone and less abt the mints, which is fine by me.

    The Fruit of Paradise

This is for the 2014 version. In the decant: Tart but sweetish pomegranate. Wet: It becomes more fruity-sweet the moment it hits my skin. The dry-down: This is such a gorgeous scent--I adore the way it blooms on my skin. This is the sweet yet rather tart pome, with a touch of something dark abt it, perhaps incense or a resin. I'm thinkin' that this version is richer, darker, fruitier than previous years--no longer a little girl scent, all pink and princess-like, but more suited for the young woman who longs to be Hades' Queen.

    Luminous Phasmatis

In the decant: Ozone shot through w/ a fresh green plant note. Wet: Very fresh and clean-smelling, in a plant in the open air sort-of-way. The ozone is not unlike that scent in the air before a thunderstorm that's just briefly passing through. The dry-down: The herbal plant quality has diminished and the sweetness of the ozone is coming on. I love many ozone scents, and this is bottle-worthy. If you didn't like Moon of Ice because it was too chilly, try this instead.

    Christougenniatiko Dentrophobia

In the decant: Lovely mix of all the notes. Wet: The dried fir takes over, in a powdery fashion, alas. The dry-down: The pine pitch, the spruce tar, the tobacco, and the opoponax move back into the blend, and make it a gorgeous winter evergreen forest scent. Not so much the scent of a real and living woods, but as though bits and pieces of the forest had been brought indoors for the Yule greening. I like this, but I would like it better as an atmosphere spray. My notes from WC only say "a goth Yule tree", which sounds abt right. I'm also reminded of the 1st 'Doctor Who' Christmas special from 2005, "The Christmas Invasion", where the Christmas trees suddenly whirl in a frenzy, and try to attack everyone in Rose's mum's council flat.

    Practical Occultism

In the decant: So many notes moving together in an odd mix. Wet: There's a really odd note here, that is like resinous plastic. Not sure what that could be. The dry-down: Luckily, that odd note has gone! I would say that it's now mostly a kyphi scent, with hints of the other notes appearing from time to time, again w/ those odd blends. If the SNs ever return, a SN Kyphi could be a winner!

    A Measurement of the Soul

In the decant: Fig dusted w/ white sage. Wet: Now the 2 notes have switched places. The dry-down: In the end this is mostly white sage sweetened by the wild fig and given a deeper and woodsy aspect by the cedarwood. Nice, but I was hoping for this to be fig dominant.
