    Drunk Uncle

On me, this smells like Old Spice cologne, a creamy and smooth sort of whiskey note, and maybe a caramelized, buttery rum... I actually kinda like this and I like it layered with leathers and tobacco scents.

    The Cross of Snow

Tobacco flower always smells cold, white and soapy to me. I get lots of tobacco flower with hints of sharp, lemony bergamot. As it dries down, the Spanish moss creeps in and smells damp and sour. This is pretty awful on my skin.

    The Snow at Dusk

Sharp, floral, and so very soapy. I get no plum, no incense, and nothing that reminds me of carnation or the vanilla-y sweetness of Snow White. Very white, harsh and soapy...

    Fake Bayberry Candle

I actually don't know what bayberry is supposed to smell like. I've never seen a bayberry candle or smelled one. This smells like dry, dusty, old, faded spice potpourri with evergreen and a dry woods note. Dusty more than waxy.

    Achluophobia

This is one of my favorite Halloween blends, and I really like it on my husband. You can pick out all of the listed notes, but they meld together into this dark, earthy, resinous delight. Opoponax is a super sweet, syrupy resin scent with a peppery tone to it, and always makes me think of resin made into molasses. The black musk is a little powdery, especially as this has aged, but still dark, plush and musky. The patchouli is earthy and grounding. And the tobacco adds a bit of sweet smokiness. So good.

    Noctiphobia

Fear of nighttime. The vast, endless canopy of the night sky, dotted with cold, harsh pinpoints of light under a bulging white moon. Powdery white musk, a hint of herbal lavender, and a soapy, dry ozone. Clean and softly powdery sleep time blend.

    Samhain in the Pumpkin Patch

I thought that I'd like Samhain with some foodie notes amped up, but this smells like dusty cinnamon potpourri on me and a hint of cheap patchouli incense. Really strange. Samhain 2004 and Samhainophobia 2006 are still my favorites in the Samhain family.

    September Midnight

I wanted this to be lush and sweetly fruity with dark, syrupy, sweet myrrh, but it's coming off as very dusty and powdery on my skin. I was hoping that 'newly-ripened black pomegranate' would be different from the usual pom that never works on me, but it has the same powdery sweet tarts candy smell. The amber smells dusty, dry, and wooden. I can't really pick out the myrrh or chypre at all.

    Womb Furie

My 2016 bottle of this doesn't really smell like the 2010. The 2016 is a pale, clear, thin oil that comes off as sweet honey and a sour, metallic, musky-aquatic edge with the baby powdery aspects of Snake Oil. My 2010 is dark, sweet, slightly smoky, honey incense with the slinky vanilla of Snake Oil. Two completely different things

    Little Maggie

Lots of cocoa absolute in this scent, so my bottle looks like a tiny lava lamp . I thought that this was going to be a winner, because when I first apply, it's lots of sweet, creamy milk chocolate, a hint of marshmallow, a dry and woody (and not baby powdery) sandalwood, and a hint of snuggly, soft, sweet, honeyed patchouli. It's warm, cozy and sweet, and overall reminds me of the scent of Cocoa Puffs cereal. Unfortunately, no matter how much of this I slather on, I literally cannot smell it after ten minutes. Low throw and absolutely no staying power

    Autumn - Overlooked My Knitting

Starts off with damp, sharp green leaves threatening to go soapy, and a sour, tart red currant. Dries down to mostly ambergris, which always smells like a warm, golden amber and aquatic cologne to me with a slight spiciness.

    Magnificent Autumn

Sappy, slightly sour green leaf smell with a bit of a damp, cold feel to it. Smells a bit like damp, soapy laundry as it dries down. Most of bpal's leaf and dead leaf blends smell the same to me.

    Autumn Fancies

Baby powdery amber mixed with the lab's hay note, which smells like sweet, dry, golden hay with a bit of a lemony tang to it. Reminds me of a less complex and more powdery Hay Moon.

    Placophobia

Soft dirt and sour moss with a sharp, perfumey aquatic note. I think that sharp aquatic note is the 'tears' in the soaked moss. Winds up strangely sour and not dirty enough for me, actually.

A Witch Riding on a Dragon

Powdery, honeyed tonka, a watery, soapy, floral smelling dragon's blood, and a charred, ashy wood smell. Dries down to blackened, ashy wood, powder and a hint of soap. This one isn't working on me.

    Witchcraft Scene

This is awful on me. A mess of sharp things thrown over powder. White sandalwood gives this a dusty base of baby powder, the white musk and narcissus smell like sharp, cheap, drugstore white floral perfume with an edge of soapiness, and then the black pepper (which is a note I usually enjoy) just smells harsh and out of place with all of the white notes. This was a scrubber for me.

Snake Oil in the Pumpkin Patch

This doesn't smell like Snake Oil on me (which is fine, I guess, because Snake Oil smells pretty bad on me, and is the same fresh or aged for years on end). It's just a bunch of buttery cinnamon. Pure pumpkin spice scent.

    Theme in Yellow

Buttery, cinnamon heavy 'pumpkin.' The beeswax adds a cloying sweetness and literal waxiness that just makes this smell like a cheap pumpkin pie spice holiday candle on my skin.

    Dorian in the Pumpkin Patch

Dorian is one of my favorite bpal fragrances, and I find that I don't like these type of blends, where other notes are added to what is already a perfect fragrance I smell a hint of Dorian's sugared vanilla tea when first applied, and then this dries down to all pumpkin pie spice and a hint of weird, powdery vanilla.

    The Witch Bride

I love wisteria (pale blue, cool, sweet, and reminiscent of lilac to me), but I don't love the other notes that wrap around the wisteria in this blend. The narcissus is very sharp and perfumey, and threatens to go soapy. The hemlock is thick, heavy, green, and herbal-medicinal. And something about the resin in this is sharply smoky and keeps making me think of cigarette smoke.

    Haunted Houses

This is like a mix of thin, cedary, dry patchouli and white floral soap on my skin. The drydown is like generic, creamy white bars of soap covered in dust in an old wooden drawer.

A World Where There Are Octobers

I don't care for this, but I've found that the leaf scents don't tend to age well. It's damp, sharp, sour green leaves with a soapy aquatic cologne feel, and a drydown of really powdery woods.
  23. Little Bird

    Ooky

Tons of cinnamon and a hint of red cherry syrup, which must be the marzipan going all weird. Too spicy and too sweet for me.

    Second Spring

I like this blend, and it's so rare that pom and red currant work out on me (I find them to be very tart and sour). The honey and myrrh really sweeten the fruits beautifully on my skin, with a warm, resinous amber that doesn't turn to full-on powder on my skin. The patchouli, cypress and leaves swirl together and smell like a mix of green, sappy leaves and spicy dead leaves on my skin. I can pick out most of the listed notes at once, but it's a pretty swirl of fall leaves, red fruit, golden, honeyed resins and slight greenery... and I really like all of the fall colors played out in scent-form.

    The Magic Circle

A grand, rich, vanilla-y sweet, sexy, warm, slightly spicy jasmine that would be lovely on its own, but the frankincense lingering in the background giving off its church incense, gold, and cedar pews scent gives it a reverent quality that I really love. The mix of sexy and church is wrong in the best way. It's a scent that smells very womanly and curvy with heated, jasmine soaked skin. Little hints of warm, earthy patchouli and the smoky, dry wood of oudh swirl in and out of the scent over time. I also get an impression of warm, sweet beeswax, but perhaps that is the honey myrtle or the honeyed quality of the jasmine. I love this the way that I love Sacred Whore of Babylon.
