I smell mostly menthol here. with hints of dirt and that tiny smell of cake. Interesting, but not something I'd wear.

    October

Interesting this should be October - a time for dying plants. I've not smelled many scents this GREEN. This plant is alive. It reminds me of the Green Man or a male plant spirit. Not the bright green of spring, but the strong deep green of fertile places in an old growth forest.

    The Perilous Parlor

In the bottle: there definately a fruit note here, but it doesn't say "pear" to me. I don't really like it. On me - Goes plastic-y almost immediately. I can smell the vanilla, at least. But it's powdery. Just not my skin type I guess.

    Snow-Flakes

The radiance and desolation of winter. Mint, of course. And cucumber, and something green and bitter. Could it be aloe? Many people have said this smells like Snow White. I don't get that at all. (But then not a huge Snow White fan.)
  5. Absinthe smells like anise to me.

    Vampire Tears

In the bottle: Wow - this one is tough. I'm getting a lemon candy smell with a hint of some other fruit. I know it must be the grapefruit, but it's not registering as grapefruit. Wet: Still candy, but no longer lemon. This is going to make me crazy. It's plugging to some long ago scent memory of a real candy. But I can't identify it. Fruity, citrus - this thing has a lot of throw. Dry: This is morpher. It's getting salty and a bit floral. The powder is coming out. I can't believe it, the throw is bigger. I only have a very small amount on my wrist and it is everywhere. It will be interesting to see if it lasts. As time is going on, the throw is toning down a bit. (Or maybe my nose is burning out.) The ginger is coming out to play, but it's faint. I'm really not sure if I like this or not. But it's definately interesting.

    Beaver Moon 2007

In the bottle - I get that sour note I associate with the first Beaver Moon. It's not really a note I'm fond of. Wet: Wow - this smells like crunchberries! (For those outside the US, there's a children's cereal called Captain Crunch that has berry-ish little balls in it. This smells just like the cereal.) No noticible sour note. It's sort of a strawberry smell, but not just strawberry. Others have said they smell the cherry, but the secondary smell is just not that distinct for me. What others smell as "cake" seems to be the "cereal" scent for me. Dry: This fades down a bit. The cereal note is less pronounced. I'll be curious to see how well it lasts through the day. Edited to add: That sour note is back - but it's faint. This is a scent cousin to the original Pink Moon (which I'm very fond of.) Also to Pink Phoenix. I like this. I didn't really expect to, but then I'm a huge original Pink Moon fan.

    Egg'd Mailbox

Mmmmmmmm. Numeg! I'm getting the creamy egg-y goodness, but with a pronounced nutmeg scent. I was really afraid this would go playdoh as this sort of thing tends to do so on me. No playdoh so far. I'm betting this will get even better as it ages. I also catch a very fleeting floral note underneath. Love this! And so fitting to wear right through Christmas.

    Crowley

Wow. Just wow. Initially, on my skin I get leather and a patchouli that reminds me of one of the notes in Schwarzer Mond. I also detect a hint of Czernobog - that elusive evocative note I can't identify that makes me keep wanting to wear that oil, even though I don't like the overall smell. I spent the evening sniffing myself with this. I get the creamy notes too - this gets so much better as it ages. And it continues to have a nice throw. It also bears similarilty to Snake Oil. ALthough this is what I always hoped Snake Oil would be and it never quite made it. I WILL be ordering a bottle. Yum!

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

This is not much like Snowblind. *sigh* As previously stated, it has more of cookie note. Several people have said "thin mint." I get more of a minty sugar cookie vibe. No chocolate here. On me? Playdoh. Grrrrr.

The High Priest Not To Be Described

It get warm amber and pepper from this. It kind of reminds me of The Lion. I smell the leather, but it's pretty faint. Warm and desert-y. It smells like I would imagine an exotic sandy palace.

    Tum

Wow, this is a tricky one. The previous reviews say grape, but I am so not getting that. Honey, wood, and incense. There is a sweet fruit note, but it's not grape. And something that really smells to me like tobacco. Doesn't really appeal to me.

    Shub-Niggurath

I just received my new bottle of Shubb last night and I love it. I had to pry it away from my mother. It has the warm gingerbread smell that I've been wanting so long. That being said, I got my old imp when it was still fresh and I see two differences. My previous imp from the first release did not have the lemon note I smell here. I really like it and I think it adds one more layer of lucious complexity to an already complex scent, but I did not smell in the original formula. This seems to vary per previous reviews. YMMV. If you liked the old Shubb, but don't like lemon, I would swap for an imp first. It also doesn't have the same staying power the old one did. It doesn't do the fast fade some do, but the old Shubb lasted and lasted. This is about average in staying power. I do love it and am so glad to have it GC.

Apples?? Finding the right apple scent

Ladon and Creepy - both very apple-y.

    The Dormouse

Oooo! I like this. I smell the tea. So far, in 2 years of BPAL, this is the "truest" tea scent I've come across. It's a light floral. It's hard to explain, I'm not a floral girl - but I really like this.

    Saturnalia

The violets are very faint. I guessing what I smell is vetivert. It smells like - plant. Not green plants. More like a marsh or a pond. There's no aquatic smell, but the plants are a bit rotten in places. Not in a foul way, but just like a live ecosystem. It smells the way it should. But it's not something I want to wear.

    Al-Shairan

Cinnamon with a bit of orange. The clove is there, but it's buried. I'm near Seattle and this smells like Market Spice tea. Very warm and cozy. Good for Xmas. Maybe a bit too cinnamon for perfume for my taste, but nice.

My problem(s) with Heaven & Earth Essentials

First of all, let me say I appreciate your concerns, and your desire to bring them to everyone. I also appreciate your psoting this here, in this manner. I think this is the best way, because frankly, I think many people are having a hard time taking this kind of thing seriously in the H&EE forum, and I can understand why. Irrespective of whether your concerns are valid and laudible, there has been a lot of drama in that thread. A thread, which most people go to to read reviews and issues people have directly with that seller selling them items. (At least so it seems, based on the responses to the recent postings.) My perspective would be that if the Mods or Beth didn't want people to do business with Michelle due to her behavior, they would remove the forum entirely. Which, based on your post, may be next. After awhile the drama becomes overwhelming enough that it takes on a life of it's own and people just want to get away from it and get back to the product reviews. People are starting to feel persecuted for choosing to buy from Michelle. I understand you just want to make sure that's an informed choice. It's sad to see someone taking advantage of the forum. I will certainly have to do some thinking about what you've written, before making anymore orders. Again, I appreciate your bring your concerns up in a clear and well documented manner.

    Queen of Sheba

Honey and almonds. Kind of like that Italian nouget candy. Spicy and sweet, without really being foodie.

    Cloister Graveyard in the Snow

This may be my 2nd favorite mint ever. (After Snowblind.) Its a green mint - but not spearmint. Mint with leaves. Ice on the grass. I must get this.

    Queen Gertrude

This is a nice light floral. Floral for people who don't want overpowering. Although it has a good throw. Violets and water. Very soft and pretty.

    Lear

A regal, commanding scent, but poignant. White cedarwood, blue sage and bay leaf. Imp: cedar and...alcohol? On me - cedar, but not quite pencils. I think it's the sage making itself known. Very woodsy, but almost SN on me.

    Carfax Abbey

I smell...green. Not herbs so much, as the smell of plants. A yard or a garden, There are whisps of smoke and slight florals. Sunrise at the church. These's a very faint incense smell. Very nice. I'm not sure it's something I'd wear, but I like the picture it creates.
