    Anactoria

This goes on smooth and musky - very much what I imagine when I am thinking of an Arabian musk scent. You can definitely smell the honey too, making this slightly sweet and golden but predominantly musky. After a few minutes, it does start to turn slightly soapy though - not a big deal, since the musk is still going strong, but I would love it more if it weren't there. I was really worried about the kush, because - who wants to smell like pot? Anytime someone smells like that, I always think they should go take a serious bath because it's an unappealing smell. Luckily, I am not getting anything like that from this scent. Which is great, because it would be such a shame. Overall, I would call this mostly a honey musk scent with a slight resin and floral background. It's not a favorite, but it's a decent scent and I could see myself wearing it. It makes me think of scents like Black Lace or Krampus so if you like those, you might want to give this one a shot edit: Just wanted to add that it eventually becomes quite bitter and sharp on me. Not for me with that stage, it's too sharp and harsh at that point. I do like the earlier stages though!

    Satyr

Oddly enough, I do not get cinnamon or clove at all from this. It smells very musky and masculine with a slight peanuty smell to it (smells JUST like Smut did on me!). I normally love musk (especially red), but there is something about this blend and Smut that makes it smell like peanuts to me rofl.

    Sundew

It smells just like I imagined something called Sundew WOULD smell like. It's slightly floral, but has a watery tone to it (dewy of course) and a slightly sweet golden note that borders on being floral fruity. It makes me think of those little girl perfumes - you know the ones they market towards girls who haven't gotten into "real" perfumes yet, and they are usually light and innocent smelling. This makes me think of those - it's very airy and innocent with just a slight sweetness to it. Very girly!

    Cthulhu

Immediately it makes me think of a man. It smells like a men's soap (like Irish Springs) - it's sharp and clean and masculine. Very appealing in that way - I think it would smell so sexy on my husband, but I would never wear it myself. I imagine that anyone wearing this would feel very clean, because it has a "just showered" smell to it!

    Twenty-One

I don't drink very often and when I do, it's not typically anything stronger than a wine spritzer. So I am unfamiliar with what a martini smells like, so please keep that in mind when reading this lol. To me - this goes on zesty and sharp - it has a strong juniper smell and is backed by something that smells like pine? The end result is something that is clean and sort of outdoorsy. It does make me think of a household cleaner - it's interesting though and I keep sniffing it even though I don't really care for it. So, not for me - but an interesting scent that's for sure!

    Arcana

Ooooh. As soon as I put this on, I immediately think of a bag of old, dried herbs - pungent, deep and mysterious. The name seems so fitting for this. The lavender and rosemary are dominant to me in this blend, but the neroli isthere - slightly sweetening this up and adding something unexpected to the blend. This makes me think of my Mom, who has always been fond of strongly herbal scents like this. I really enjoy it for being something unusual and I will definitely keep and wear my imp!

    Crossroads

Predominantly a heady jasmine on my skin, and my chemistry turns it into a rather foul smell unfortunately. I am used to jasmine doing this, so this is no surprise. It drowns out most anything else in the blend, but I do detect something green and grassy smelling in this as well!

Diary of a Lovestruck Teenage Cannibal

I totally agree with that!! When I sniff this in the bottle it smells a lot like MB: Bloody Mary ( a favorite of mine) but that changes very quickly. When it goes on, it's a lot less foody - predominantly gingery lemon and grapefruit. It's a rather stark contrast to the buttery sweet vanilla you get in the bottle. It's nice though, I like the sharp citrusy feel to this, though it was definitely not what I was expecting! Will be nice for the Spring/Summer

    I Married a Vampire from Planet X

I definitely agree that in the bottle, this doesn't smell particularly great - sort of generally perfumey and musky. When it goes on my skin though, it warms up significantly and I start to get a faint leather and musk scent with cinnamon and clove. Despite all of those things being usually in-your-face notes, these are rather toned down and a lot less masculine/spicey than you'd think. It's sophisticated and very unisex and quite wearable. The only thing I don't like about this scent is the floral which keeps this from being an "OMGLOVE" scent for me. I still like it though - it reminds me a lot of Ecstasy: True Love in a way - something about the well blended notes and air of sophistication I think.

    Madrid

Wow, this goes on like jelly beans (the red ones). It's all cherry like and fruity/candy-ish. So much so, that my initial impression gave me a strong sense of nostalgia for Easter mornings and baskets. It does spice up a bit after a while though and now it's a huskier scent - not overwhelmingly clove but like spiced wine. Very exotic and deep smelling.

    November

I tried not to hope too much for this one, as "leaves" scents generally end up smelling too dank/wet for me in my experience. It is pretty much as I suspected it would be - it's very wet and dark and smells like decaying leaves in a way (so what it is supposed to smell like!). I had hoped for a slightly sweeter smell (like the leaves we get around here) but it lacks any sweetness at all and instead smells very green and masculine. ALmost piney even, it's so green and outdoorsy. Not a bad scent, just not for me! Almost has a cologne like feel to it, would probably smell great on a guy

    The Shivering Boy

I've seen some people raving over this one so I was really eager to try it (though the description did not lead me to believe that it would be very "me"). Right away, I can see why it is appealing to some - it's got a very musky appeal to it, with a strong outdoorsy scent with it. It's woody and piney with a warm musk background - very comforting. Makes me think of putting on my husbands coat and getting that whiff of his smell. It's definitely masculine in my opinion, but I could see a woman wearing this too. I'm a bit torn on whether or not I'd really need a bottle for this one, but I definitely will keep my imp.

    Noche Buena

Very very floral - and in a tropical way, it makes me think of islands and summer. I don't get anything else unfortunately, this blend is too floral for me!

    The Snow Storm

It is not as minty as I had hoped for but is a very bright, wintery scent. The woods and fir are very strong in this and the end result is something that smells very much like a winter outdoor scene. People who love these green and woody scents will surely adore this one. I'll probably keep the imp just to use in the winter as a room scent, because it's so awfully appropriate smelling hehe!

    Midwinter's Eve

This goes on like sugared berries but quickly starts to turn odd on me, in the same way that jasmine does. It's slightly sweet and definitely wintery but could be worn any time of year I think. One of the florals is just really not agreeing with my skin though - it seems very pretty otherwise!

    Jólasveinar

I don't know that I can properly describe this, but it definitely doesn't smell floral to me. It's very golden and a bit husky with an overall incense vibe to it. I love that this is very blended and does not smell like one note over the other, just an overall warm scent with a tinge of sweetness!

    Angeronalia

When this first goes on, it reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on. The fruit also smells like grapefruit to me (though it's not, it just smells that way in a tart, slightly sharp way). This comes together beautifully to make a slightly fruity floral with a little hint of something foody behind it. I do really like this one, though I think it may be a little *too* floral for me to justify a bottle. Beautiful blend though!

    Nocnitsa

I was utterly amused when I received Nocnitsa as a frimp from someone today - I have literally wanted to try Nocnitsa since I joined BPAL years ago. I just never did get around to it and I eventually figured that one day, she'd make her way around to me. And here she is finally! Right away I can say that Nocnitsa is not what I expected - I was thinking it was going to be very dark, very piney and probably very "wet" smelling. But instead it has a nearly fruity quality to it (as fir sometimes does in my opinion) with a sort of lightness about it. It has a definite herbal atmosphere to it and the fir isn't so overwhelmingly woodsy - the end result is something mossy and unusual with a slightly masculine edge to it. It's very pleasant and without smelling anything like it - it reminds me a lot of Luperci in that it's very unisex but leans more towards being masculine and has a strange comforting feel to it. I don't think I'd wear this enough to warrant a bottle, but the imp is definitely being kept!

    Egg Nog

Not a lot to say here - like a few others I really dislike eggnog as a drink but I have always loved the smell. This is exactly that - lots of rum with a slightly creamy base and warm spices. Lovely and a definite keeper!

    La Befana

At first, this smells exactly like horehound candies to me. If you've never had them, they are dark, sticky and oddly flavored but sweet. The violet starts to come out a bit when it hits my skin, but it's a surprisingly subtle violet. Other than that, it just has a sort of vaguely sweet smell but nothing really jumps out on me here - it leaves me unsure on how to feel about it. When I catch a whiff of the violet, I like it but sometimes I sniff and I only get that vaguely sweet smell and nothing else. Will definitely have to test this later!

    Diwali

I wish I was getting what other people are getting. I am not getting creamy, fruity coconut. This is a sharp woody scent with a faint fruit note behind it (barely there fruit note). It's a spicy wood - kind of simple and straight forward but pleasant in a comforting way.

    The Fruit of Paradise

I really love this one - it's very straightforward. Simple and slightly tart pomegranate (which comes off as a bit berryish here) with something slightly darker behind it. I really like this and it will probably be my favorite pomegranate scent from BPAL!

    Chanukkiyah

It's very sweet and sugary and warm when it's wet, but as it dries down it becomes a bit less foody while still retaining just a little bit of that quality. There is something nutty in this and after this is dry, it is very hard to describe for me. It doesn't smell like anything in particular - sort of incensey I guess in a general kind of way with maybe something fruity behind it. But it's all so meshed together that it's hard to say that's what I'm smelling. It's very interesting, but that nutty smell I'm getting is distracting and makes me think this is just not working well on my chemistry.

    Vicomte de Valmont

Wow, sexy and masculine - sharp and otherwise hard to describe. I don't think I could call it woody or clean or ozoney. It's kind of all of those things. It makes me think of those Axe body sprays - it has a sort of generic smell to it, but not in a bad way (honestly!). I definitely would not mind if my husband decided to wear this one

    Wings of Azrael

This goes on very violet on me, which is okay with me since I like violet even though I don't particularly like florals. It has a very greenish vibe behind it though - I don't know if the lily is making it seem that way or if it's something else. I'm not getting the sharpness of the juniper or the myrrh at all here. Which is strange because myrrh tends to dominate on me. In the later stages of this scent I do start to smell myrrh but it's in the background and this scent ends up being a very floral scent. A lot lighter than I expected, but very much in the same vein as the other Ars Morendi scents.
