    Jailbait

A gigantic punch of sticky sweet pink Hubba Bubba or Bazooka gum. And quite an intense punch. It's insane how much this smells exactly like bubble gum. And it's cheeky and sassy, not innocent and flowery. The perfume-y note is buried way underneath all that bubble gum. This is incredibly strong and I'm hoping that the superintensity of the bubble gum note backs off a bit and this mellows out. I am starting to notice the spicy note that others have noticed and it's something like the cinnamon red hot candies as opposed to the spice itself. A fun, strange little scent.

    Scherezade

This smells like walking into a new age/occult shop full of herbs and incense. It's warm and spicy and very exotic. It has amazing staying power and a few tiny drops somehow lasted for hours and hours. It's also beautifully blended and the notes are not that easy to individually pinpoint. It's definitely not something I would reach for everyday as I'd have to be in the mood to want to wear something heady and exotic.

    Bliss

This smells like some kind of gorgeous gourmet milk chocolate infused with a really high end vanilla. I love it. I want to eat it! If this was an actual chocolate bar, I would be stuffing my face! It's creamy, warm, and rich, supersweet and during the drydown it is vaguely nutty. Just so yummy, it makes me feel happy just wearing it! I am not normally a big fan of chocolate scents but this one is beyond fabulous. It has great staying power too. Definitely my favorite BPAL chocolate scent.

    The Knave of Hearts

I am surrounded by the scent of a beautiful buttery foodie rose. Very unusual and delicious. This is vaguely nutty and has the butteryness of a very yummy pie crust. The fruit comes out and keeps the rose from taking over as well as preventing this from getting cloying or too sweet. After a few hours, the rose becomes more predominant but in a soft, somewhat powdery sort of way. It's nice and strong, doesn't fade and has great throw.

    The Red Queen

In the imp and right after applying, it's all beautiful deep dark cherry. However, within minutes, the mahogany comes roaring in and completely takes over. It's like sticking your face in an old mahogany chest and I'm pretty amazed at how accurate this blend's mahogany note is to the real deal. There is no sign of that gorgeous cherry until several hours later when it begins to reappear very faintly in the background but it's still predominantly dry, dusty wood, kind of like the cedar chips others have mentioned. It's definitely not something I would pull out and wear as an everyday scent but the concept is really interesting and different.

    Sacred Whore of Babylon

We may not have the listed notes for this one but one thing is for certain--there is a lot of jasmine in this! I am a fan of jasmine and this one is a lush spicy blooming jasmine surrounded by smoke and incense. Now that others have mentioned cinnamon and I gave my wrist another sniff, I think I can pick up the cinnamon and that is probably what it is giving this scent it's spiciness. It becomes sweeter as it stays on my skin and I can understand where the 'banana' scent comes from. I think it's just the sweetness of the jasmine. This is very musky and not for people who prefer lighter scents.

    The Hanging Gardens

A warm, lush, blooming fruity floral. This is rather damp and you can almost feel the breeze gently blowing through the flowers in this blend. I swear there is amber in here. It has that slightly powdery golden sweetness that I find in amber blends. It is not overwhelmingly floral and not at all soapy. I can't really pick out individual fruit notes, it's like one giant fruit basket. I am a fan of BPAL's gardenia note but even that I have trouble picking out in this blend, everything just fits together perfectly.

    Snake Oil

I have a beautifully aged bottle of Snake Oil that is now thick and viscous. This stuff is really like liquid gold. A little goes a very long way and I find just a few tiny drops will last for 10+ hours. It starts off spicy and full of a more exotic vanilla. This is so heady and smoky an as it dries it morphs into a gorgeous musky sweet vanilla that lasts and lasts and lasts. It is so unique and unusual, truly unlike any perfume out on the market today and the way it ages is astounding. No wonder it is a favorite.

    Bon Vivant

An effervescent blend of crystalline champagne notes and sweet strawberry Like a lovely fruit champagne, very effervescent and bubbly. This scent is light as air and as it dries on my skin, retains that lovely bubbly quality it has. It is amazing to me how Beth is able to capture these sorts of things with such accuracy and make a champage that literally seems to float off your skin like the bubbles that float to the surface in a champagne glass. The strawberries are ice cold and very quiet in the background of this blend on me and the chilliness of the strawberries makes the blend itself chilly. It's not a warm scent at all but yet still comes across as golden and fizzy.

I Fell in Love with a Floating Brain

Yum, yum, yum! This is sort of like Monsterbait: biggerCritter without the jasmine and colliding with Beaver Moon 2007. The strawberry and the grapefruit are absolutely fabulous together and the sweet buttercream cake beneath them just rounds this off into something I want to eat! This is fluffy and refreshing from the citrus of the grapefruit. I get almost no carnation (and I love BPAL's carnation note) and after a couple hours of wear, I am starting to get a lovely vanilla cake scent on my skin. I'm thinking I may need another bottle of this one because it's fabulous! Also must mention that I love the little BPAL cloth baggies that my order from Dark Delicacies came in. Very cute!

Invasion of the Flesh-Eating Reindeer from Uranus

Whoa spicy! This one is much more foodie in the bottle than it is when I put it on. In the bottle, it is sweet gingerbread baking in the oven with a huge tray of rum balls nearby. On my skin, I get pepper. Yes, lots and lots of pepper. Like black pepper. Or maybe it's the 'burnt' gingerbread smell that some others are getting. Whatever it is, it is really really strong. I'm not sure where the sweet bakery scents have gone to but they sure have gone. It takes close to an hour and a half on my skin to become less peppery and finally starts to turn into a warm gently spiced rum and musk scent. I'm hoping this will mellow out a bit and give me the same yumminess on my skin that I get in the bottle.

    Snake Charmer

Amber is a very scary note for me. I find that, in general, it just doesn't agree with me. Luckily, in Snake Charmer (resurrected), the amber comes out but doesn't overwhelm and I find that while it is very sweet in the way that amber is, I don't find it to be a turn off and it doesn't have that horrid powdery bubble gumminess that I always associate with amber. Rather, it warms the blend up and gives the spices a golden glow. This is a sweet blend and I can smell the coconut way under there and it vaguely reminds me of Snake Oil meets Smut meets Mme Moriarty. I think this is going to age beautifully, just as the three above mentioned scents have gone from great scents to spectacular scents as they age, so I am very curious as to what this will smell like over time. I don't get much vanilla but maybe it will peek out over the next few hours as I just put this one on.

    Candy Phoenix

I smell a lot of resemblance to Sticky Pillowcase in this one. I really like Sticky Pillowcase but Candy Phoenix is just much less overwhelmingly sweet and candy-ish than Sticky Pillowcase. The pomegranate note really calms it down and keeps it from being too sweet and it's pleasantly tart. I find Sticky Pillowcase to be much dustier than this one. I really love any sugared fruit notes in BPAL blends. It lasts a long time, a good 6 hours on me. I like it.

    Beaver Moon 2005

I had been wanting a bottle of the old Beaver Moon for a while and had been keeping my out on Ebay for it but now that it's been resurrected, I've finally got my bottle! In the bottle, it is entirely sweet cake goodness with the cheesecake note underneath. On me, I quickly get an unexpected spice note. It's almost gingerbread-y. The spice note sticks around for a white and then it becomes all frosted buttercream cupcakes with tons and tons of sugar and huge slices of vanilla cheesecake. I don't get any strawberries or any other fruits, only frosting, cake, and the spice. This is just a swirl of richness and sugary creaminess, like some of kind of insane pink bakery. Awesome!

    Sugar Cookie

I think this will easily become one of my all-time favorite BPAL foodie blends. This is so absolutely sweet, buttery and delicious. I wore it all day yesterday on Christmas Day and was surrounded in a lovely warm cookie scent. It is not at all cloying or overwhelmingly sweet and actually smells like a sugar cookie, particularly one of those frosted ones decorated with lots of sugar crystals! I think I may need a second backup bottle of this one because it is beyond yummy.

    Snow Bunny

This one was definitely a pleasant little surprise. Having never smelled the original, I wasn't quite sure what to expect with the 2008 version. It packs quite a punch in the bottle and after initially applying it and reminds me of another BPAL that I can't quite place--Schlafende Baigneuse, maybe. Anyway, it's very fizzy, fresh and crisp yet sweet and girly. It's rather tart and the perfume, thankfully, is not an overwhelming floral but rather an unusual almost citrus-y floral yet it has a very winter-like quality and does actually remind me of mountain snow. As others have said, it doesn't last very long. I've had it on for just over an hour and it is quickly fading away. Other than that, it's unusual and I like it. I have a feeling I'll be pulling this one out of the BPAL box pretty frequently!

    Butter Rum Cookie

Wow, does this one ever pack a punch! This is rum-soaked rich deliciousness, very spicy and brown sugary. As it dries, the spice blend really starts to pop. It's just one of those winter-y, Christmas-y scents that we all associate with this time of year. I love the buttery, golden richness of this--it's not too strongly alcoholic and the rum seems to be a toned-down version of the rum in last year's Egg Nog. If this were an actual cookie, me and my pregnant belly would be eating about 400 of them! Edited to add that I just realized what kind of cookie this reminds me of--Snickerdoodles!

    Midwinter's Eve

2007 edition: After I initially applied it and not having worn it since last winter, I was surprised that I picked up a note of pine in it among the sweet plum and icy florals. It didn't last long and might have been my imagination but who knows? The plum is lovely and not powering with just the right amount of sugar. The florals are cool and crisp, somewhat frozen and crystalline. This one is the perfect mixture of fruit and floral with depth and a wintery undertone.

    Lick It One More Time

Holy candy cane! This is a giant jolt of peppermint that hits you right up in the face. It certainly packs a punch and doesn't last long but it's a sea of sugary peppermint while it does! It quickly fades off into a sugary fizzy vanilla and within a few hours it's gone. It's very cool and frosty, as one would expect a mint scent to be, but it's fun. I don't wear it often but when I do, I really enjoy it.

    Egg Nog

2007 version: In the bottle, this is astoundingly like real egg nog. It is incredibly rich and boozy with a bite, like someone added just a little too much rum! This one doesn't last very long on me at all. Husband and I decided to decorate the house for Christmas tonight so I put some on to get into the holiday spirit and by the time we were done decorating--about two hours--the scent was almost totally gone. Usually BPAL scents will linger on my skin for hours but there is no trace of this one now. Either way, while it lasts, it's very yummy and definitely appropriate for the holidays!

    Rose Red

The perfected winter rose, dew covered and freshly cut. Wet, green, lush and blood red. This is a gorgeous rose and I swear there is some mint in here, making it bright green and fresh. It is just slightly sharp--in a good way--and I can picture this blooming dewy rose. Beth is a master with the rose scents and this one is no exception.

    The Queen of Hearts

Lily of the Valley, Calla Lily, stephanotis and a drop of cherry. One of my all time favorite blends from BPAL. Gorgeous lily of the valley with a flood of deep red cherry. I absolutely adore BPAL's cherry note and there is lots and lots of cherry in this one on me. It has huge throw and staying power and after hours and hours of wear, it will finish up with a lovely white floral.

    Fae

This is definitely bright, bubbly and ethereal! It's all white musk and peach and it's just fascinatingly effervescent. Very feminine and sweet but not cloying. It has a lot of throw and staying power, which kind of surprised me as I figured it would be one of those that fades fast but that's not the case. It's playful and giggly, would be nice for spring. I don't get any of the bergamot or oakmoss at all, at least not at this point in it's wear!

    Snow White

2007 version: Oh yum yum yum. I get compliments on this one every time I wear it and people are constantly asking me what I am wearing. It is VERY similar to Lush's Snowcake soap. Lots of almond and what I think may be jasmine but I'm not sure. It's just gorgeous and it lasts for hours. It is very white, and rather crisp and I keep picturing snow flurries in my head. Beatifully creamy and feminine. Soft but not too soft. Just genius!

    The Phoenix

This one is definitely interesting. It's very realistic and evocative of being afloat a giant old pirate ship somewhere in the middle of the salty sea. After several hours of wear, I begin to get that hint of Snake Oil, which I wish was more prevalent in the blend. It's always amazing to me how Beth can capture ideas, concepts and stories inside these little bottles with such accuracy. Very aquatic and damp. I can almost hear the wood creaking and feel that rocking of the ship!
