Goblin of Yuletide Present Atmosphere Spray

Orange pomanders. Yum! I was a crafty kid. Mom used to keep me busy at Christmas time by having me decorate sugar cookies(which did involve work from her, as she had to bake the cookies, and clean up after) or making pomanders by stuffing about as many cloves as could fit into the skin of an orange. This was easier for mom, as it involved less work for her, and kept me nicely busy and oblivious to other things like presents being wrapped in other rooms... So, this is happy Christmas time in a bottle. =) For me, it is a bit more Christmas past, but, that is a little quibble for such a lovely scent.

    Champagne and Roses

Champagne and roses smells very much like champagne and rose petals. The champagne is sparkly and not too dry or too sweet. The roses behaved fine on me, and my husband even likes it! Unfortunately, just like Bon Vivant, it is not lasting on me. However! I had ended up with a big drip of it on my skin when I applied, and had to wipe just a bit off with a tissue...and the tissue is holding the scent tremendously. So...for me this is a locket scent. It is just a bit too fun and flirty to part with. In addition, anything my husband will actually admit to liking....

    Champagne and Cigars

In Champagne and Cigars, I can smell the tobacco along with the champagne right away. The tobacco doesn't smell smoky to me, but, more like the inside of a cigar shop. The champagne note stays fizzy and just the right amount of sweet for as long as it lasts. At first, they are very evenly balanced. The tobacco sticks around much longer on me than the champagne, though.

    Champagne, Chocolate, and Cheap Sex

I almost missed out on the Champagne, Chocolate and Cheap Sex bottle, as I was sniffing scents and chatting almost a little too long. I like that champagne note. It is the first note apparent, but, the chocolate is definitely there as well. I think there is a slightly musky scent in the background as well that might be the cheap sex. =) I'll know more in a half hour when the champagne is gone. I'd like the alcohol to stick around longer, but, on my skin it isn't lasting. When the champagne runs out, the chocolate and a slight sweet musky scent remain. Nice.
  5. It isn't the same, but, you might try Snake Charmer ressurected before it vanishes. I love I Should Coco soap, myself, and though Snake charmer is not the same...it still has(to me) a similar feel, with the spicyness and the smoothness. Even if it doesn't have coriander, which I am always looking for more of. I do think a scent with coconut, orange(or even orange wood, which might last longer on my skin), coriander and vetiver would be wonderful.

    Snake Charmer

NOTE: this is about Snake Charmer Resurrected, not the original. So, I needed to see what all the hype was about... And I love it! Spicy, smooth, sweet and spicy. Did I say spicy? Yes, I did. Mmmmmmm..... What was I saying again? Oh, yah, spicy! It doesn't last on me as long as snake oil does, but, while it does last it is sweet and smooth and spicy love.

    Fire Phoenix

This starts off well blended, and I can't discern the individual notes. It almost smells like there is cinnamon in this, barely, but there's no cinnamon listed. It's probably the kick from the pink pepper. One of the flowers is amping a bit, or the cubeb berry is. I'm not so familiar with any of those three notes, but, the scent is becoming sweeter. Sweet, spicy, firey and complex.

    Earth Phoenix

In the bottle, it was cherries and dirt. On me, it starts off cherries and dirt, but, as it dries it blends a bit more. Cypress! Oppoponax(myrrh)! Musk! The other notes are in hiding(I might possibly be detecting the night blooming jasmine, but, that could be my imagination), but, the three that I was really hoping for do show up. The dirt is still very strong, though. I'm not sure this is really me, but, it might grow on me. It is spicy and complex...I'm just not sure I'm a dirt person and this is very dirt.

    Water Phoenix

In the bottle, I smelled rain and juniper. On me, it only took a minute for the lavender to shove it's way forward. Since I don't mind lavender, that's ok for a start, but, I hope other notes start showing up soon. Lavender, rain, frankincense, and juniper... by the sea. It is relatively strong, and it seems like a scent that might last well, even now in the winter when many scents just aren't.

    Le Père Fouettard

Whip leather, coal dust and a whiff of something sweet. So far, much better than I had thought it might be. The licorice is just a hint, beyond the faint scent of some sweet baked good. On me, the leather and the coal dust are the main notes. Dusty, velvety, and very slightly spicy and sweet. On me this is subtle, without being faint.

    Rat

I wasn't going to get this one. Then I kept reading the reviews, and remembering how much woods like me, and how vetiver, while not reliable, sometimes makes a scent for me... This does smell invigorating to me. It's complex and woody and spicy. It is definitely one where the vetiver is behaving well....or if not well, doing it's bad boy making the party interesting thing.

    Beaver Moon 2005

This is for the 2008 "Beaverversary" edition. It starts off as strawberry cheesecake. The final drydown, which lasts forever even on my very dry skin that nothing is lasting on except this, is close to the final dry down in Huesos de Santos after all the fruity and spice notes were gone...that sweet creamy note that lasted past everything else. Otherwise they have nothing in common at all. Cheesecake, drying down to a sweet creamy scent that lasts forever on me.

    Wood Phoenix

Woods and walnut and spices....Oooh, and chamomile. So far I love it. Slightly fruity sweet from the fig, and spicy and warm and complex! Yum! Yum yum yum yum....

    Metal Phoenix

Y'know, this may be the first honeysuckle scent I have tested where I actually smell the honeysuckle? Honeysuckle, carnations and metal, with verbena. I ...think I like this...Clean and airy, a little spicy, slightly sweet. This feels springlike to me...which could be the basis for a very bad pun, considering it is metal phoenix. I'll need to try it again when my skin is less dry and the scent will have a chance of lasting. Right now with my very dry skin, it didn't las long at all, but, many scents that normally last on me have not been lately.

    Snow White

Very very soft, clean, white, and fluffy. On me, not very floral, and not even really sweet. I let the love and adoration of others sway me into getting it. I can see why others might like it, but, I am not certain this is for me. I'm more in love with spice and this is almost the anti-spice.
  16. I bought this on impulse, as I had a sharp insistent craving for the scent of rain. We hadn't had much at the time(since then we have had lots, of course) and that clean wet scent was something I was missing rather intensely. This actually does have a little bit of that clean wet scent, though certainly not as much as a real rainstorm. The rest of the scent, the incense and the dust, I find very like the Parliament of Monsters from the Carnivale. My skin has been really dry lately and scents have not been staying that usually do, so my review of how long it lasts will have to wait for more typical local weather.

    Candy Phoenix

The pomegranite and currant are the first candies I notice, but, the pear comes out farly soon. The sugar is also fairly strong, and seems like it will be staying around for a while, even when the fruits fade. I don't have all that much optimism about how long fruit notes stick around on me anymore. Sugar Skull lasts very well on me, but Sticky Pillowcase did not. This seems a little closer to Sugar Skull plus fruits, but, without whatever was giving me the incense scent in Sugar Skull. I am glad I figured out that foodie scents work well on me. When I started, I wouldn't have picked this out, but, it is nice!

    The Head of Holofernes

On me, this started off very very grape. This is odd, because usually wine notes work well on me. It settled down to a slightly fruity, quite unobtrusive, very slightly spicy, leather scent.

    Moon of Small Spirits

This is very soft on me. The most prominent note is the lavender. I shouldn't have worried about the snow. There was nothing amping in this at all. It is lovely...but, unfortunately on me it is very soft, and I don't identify with soft as much as I do with spicy.

    Ho Ho Ho

Ho Ho Ho is a spicy warm scent. It is very slightly sweet, but, mostly it is warm baking spices(or mulling spices). Very yum. I doubt there is anise in this, as I suspect it would amp a little on me and take over. I could be wrong. I don't get apples. I barely get any fruit or any sweetness at all, but, if there is fruit in this I don't think it is apple. I'd think pear or pear cider, maybe? Possibly a bit of orange rind, but, barely any. Really, I am getting mostly spice. There might be a little bit of pine...or pine resin? Or pine smoke? If there is, again, I am not getting much. On me, this is mostly baking or mulling spices with only a bare hint of something else suggesting holidays...that might be orange rind, pear, or something pine resiny or smokey. The distilled essence of holiday celebration planning...just add food, friends, and lights.

    Eggnog Latte

Eggnog latte...is the scent of the inside of a coffeeshop during the holidays: coffee, steamed milk, and the spices of whatever is in the holiday specials and baked goods. Sweeter and richer than Bah, which was OMG strong coffee on me when tested at the lab. Also, better on my skin than Misk U, as that one had a parchment note that, combined with coffee, just did not play nicely on me. Eggnog Latte likes me, though. On my skin the spices and the eggnog come out, but the coffee is still there. It just isn't out in front anymore. I could still smell this on my skin the next day! The coffee was gone, but the eggnog and a little bit of the spice lingered. Very yum, and excellent for days when reapplying a scent just isn't in the cards.

    Aureus

Wood(pine?) and resins. A light golden scent, not a deep dark one. Other people are saying vetiver and patchouli...but, if there is vetiver or patchouli in this, it doesn't seem like very much, at least on my skin. This is a lighter resin scent on me.

    Saint-Germain

I couldn't smell all that much in the imp, but, once I put it on my skin the spice! Mmmmmm. I couldn't identify flowers in this at all at first. I suppose that may be because I think carnations smell like a spice and lavender smells like an herb. So, the result of the lavender and carnation plus the amber and the moss to my nose? A fresh, spicy and energetic scent, that my nose does not peg as floral at all. I'm hoping the amber means that it will last well on me.

    Twenty-One

I don't think I have actually had a martini, so, I can't really compare it to that. It seems like a fresh, clean, almost aquatic juniper scent. I think I actually like it. Which is odd for anything aproaching aquatic. =) So far, the throw is pretty good, and it doesn't seem to be changing much.

    Shanghai

Lemon verbena and a little tea. I'm not getting any honeysuckle yet. Light, clean, refreshing, and very simple. For someone looking for a simple scent, this might work well.
