Dalliance with an Amorous Bat Demon

"Salty dark resins" as starbrow said. Beautiful, honeyed resins, almost a salted-caramel feel. Barely any patchouli. The honey and sweet benzoin really sing together. Dark depths of rich, tempting, sweet poison. Love it.

    The Madam

A spicy, exotic rose that is hard to pin down. Occasionally I get a whiff of jasmine or patchouli or moss. "Roses and memories" as zankoku zen said. Old, mysterious, dried roses from a decades-lost admirer stored away in a box.

    Women Copulating

SUPER JASMINE! As starbrow said, a jasmine cream maelstrom. And that's cool because I love jasmine. I already have a single note jasmine AND La Prostitution AND Poinsettia Gown, but I probably need a bottle of this too because it's SO EXTRA!

    Black Cherry & Oud

I love oud paired with fruits because it amplifies them and makes them more juicy. And I love black cherry - I used to buy black cherry head shop candles and incense so it's nostalgic. No poop here, how bizarre! But, now I'm afraid to wear it because so many others smell poop!? Unfortunately I don't care for the drydown, it kind of smells like air freshener and isn't nearly so juicy cherry as at the beginning.

    Green Lovebird

Ooh, it's like Snowblind! Sweet vanilla after dinner mints. I love its minty chill! I was wanting some pistachio because that's a note we don't see very often, but I'm not getting it here. Still, want a bottle of this!

To My Dear and Loving Husband

The strongest notes for me are black tea, patchouli, and some frankincense. I'm not getting any champaca and just a hint of copal. I love how smooth the patchouli is; it blends seamlessly with the other notes. I love it, very hippie! However, it fades quickly.

    Treasure Room of Love

A sparkly, fizzy rose! Effervescent, as grashopper 8 said. Very cheery and bright. Mixed with the Mysore sandalwood which gives it an Indian incense vibe, it's the perfect rose for summertime.

There Is No Bliss Like This

Sweet, spicy comfort. This is a very safe, cozy scent. The clove and cinnamon are lovely. But it's not a baking scent -- the carnation and patchouli are equally pleasant, and add an earty, non-foody complexity. Dries down to soft, spicy carnation. Very pretty.

    The Poinsettia Gown

I had to wait on my Yule order since finances weren't cooperating, but I'm glad I was able to snag a bottle of this before it went away. I just KNEW it would be amazing and it is! My #1 fave BPALS are always the sugared/creamy florals. Here it's sexy jasmine and sweet rose combined with cream and sugar. The jasmine is the stronger of the florals, and that suits me. I might have to track down a backup bottle because I can see myself using this one up!

    Coffee Beans & Copal

I'm thrilled I added a bottle of this onto my Lupers order before it went away. Soooo perfect. Just the perfect amazing copal. Copal is like, young amber? Not fully fossilized? So it has that same warmth and sweetness, but it's spicy, a little cola-like, sparkly, fizzy, yet resinous...I adore it. And it mixes perfectly with the earthy coffee beans. Glorious combination!

    Shattered Silence

Cedar shavings warmed by black musk, which is cozy and calming. Earthy (but not dirty), close to the skin. Would love to put this on my husband and have a cuddle. It doesn't have much throw but it's nice.

    A Farewell to False Love

I automatically consider lavender blends "sleep blends" and that's what I'll use this one for. The lavender isn't really that prevalent - the floral notes (violet, narcissus) are the stars. But, they brush up against the peaceful somnolence of lavender and lull me into a quiet calm place.

    Fireplace Cinders

Surprising pine note - like some fresh pine needles have been sprinkled in the fire. The burnt ash vibe is strong, too, for sure. So, think Brimstone but less harsh because of the medicinal pine.

    Schönperchten

Lavender, vanilla, mint - what a dreamy combination. A perfect sleep blend, and also very Christmasy. I would love it as an atmosphere spray as well. This would especially be good for getting to sleep when you have a cold or sniffles. Putting on my "get a bottle" list.

    Und wir Dachten der Toten

Bourbon vanilla, Indonesian patchouli, raw coffee bean, and Himalayan spices. First review...this is a first! Here goes... Lovely rich vanilla, almost buttery. The patchouli is not a "dirty" earthy patchouli, but something softer and lighter. I guess raw coffee bean smells different from a cup of coffee because there's nothing like that here...instead it's nutty, green, slightly bitter. I'm not sure what the Himalayan spices are, but I wouldn't describe this as a spicy blend. The similarity that comes to mind is the vanilla-nuttiness of Wezwanie/Hold. But this isn't an especially foody scent. The patchouli and the bitterness of the coffee bean balance out the foody notes. Nice amount of throw...not too faint, but not overpowering. Happy I got a bottle!

    Hallow-e’en, 1914

Maple leaves falling to the and damp earth...such an autumn scent...the final, bold scent of living leaves before they die and are covered with snow. I'm not really noticing fig or cypress, just leaves and the ground, but Its simplicity works for me because it's so evocative of childhood autumns living in the north...the time of year when the temp drops and the trees suddenly drop their leaves...this scent in the air everywhere, those days.

    Startled Toad

Aged hippie patchouli, super dank and earthy. Blended with coconut. That's all I'm getting. It's a good combination. It's not sweetened coconut. Very natural, no-frills, a good everyday scent, at least if you like patchouli, which I do!

    Pericardium

Creamy rice milk with clove. The frankincense and amber keep it from being a totally foodie blend. It's fancier than that. Sexy but delicate, inviting, keeps you guessing what's coming next.

    Thutmose’s Nefertiti

At first application this is sweet, fruity wine with a twist of lime. Cheerful, festive. Waiting to see if it becomes more complex. Nope, still pretty much a like sangria!

    Thought Photography

An elegant lavender that feels aged, vintage. I'm not getting any palo santo, sadly. Single note refined lavender is what I'm calling this one.

    Drag is for Everyone

Feels very shimmery and iridiscent. Very light frankincense...just a dusting. Light vanilla skin musk. Like a second skin...translucent, clean. I can see how it would be good for layering. It's pretty, but too subtle on its own.

    Alleviate the Frenzy

Gonna need more of this amazingness! Sweet peach, warm aber, vanilla sugar -- lovely and sexy and fun! Not just a foodie scent. Must try more peach blends, I know there are a ton out there. I will slather this one!!

    Mopey Boar Alchemy Lab

Truffle, a bit like rich, deep earth. Then lovely clove, cardamom and ginger notes. Like a chai with cream...there's a definite creaminess. The ginger isn't stinging like in some blends. Others felt the spice was too strong, but to me it's just right. Feel solid, grounded, protective.

    Inferior Vena Cava

Is it the vegetal musk that's so earthy, like roots growing underground? That's what I'm getting...along with a heavy, masculine patchouli, a pop of sweet oud, and dark woods. Reminds me of a cologne my dad wore? Very cologne-like, with sharp/sweet/woodsy notes well balanced. The wearer of this scent can clean up nice but can also chop wood.

    Elegant Vulvas

Wow! Syrupy, golden honey, with gorgeous florals: bubblegum-sweet lotus, girly pink cherry blossom. Plus a sugary, powdery marshmallow. This is a floral that I ADORE. It's love and happiness in a bottle.
