My first thought was, why is this so nostalgic? Oh - it’s a Creamsicle! Sweet orange and creamy vanilla together. I think it’s also nostalgic because it’s happy and childlike and takes me back to when my kids were little. Very mood enhancing.

Ah this one is SO nice! You have the sweet beignet with tons of powdered sugar, and then the milky chicory coffee. So relaxing! I have spent time at Cafe du Monde and other coffee shops in New Orleans and this takes me right to that headspace - very relaxed and happy, yet buzzing from the caffeine and vacation vibe. Keeping this for when it’s a ways to go until my next travels and I need cheering up.

I haven’t yet tried a brown sugar latte IRL. I didn’t realize there’d be a caramalized/burnt sugar note. It’s quite strong! The coffee and cream are noticeable, but barely. I’ll have to come back to it at a different time of the month and see if perhaps it’s different, because I’m not really into this strong, almost single note, burnt sugar. Oh well!

For a scent consisting of mostly leather and tobacco, which can really amp up on my skin, this blend is very soft and smooth. I am not getting any opoponax just the leather and tobacco, gentled by warm amber. This perfume isn’t really sticking around, but was pleasant while it lasted!

This is surprisingly faint on me. I get touches of orange peel, cranberry, balsam, and a very light cider. I’m not noticing any pumpkin, woods, or beeswax on my skin. It’s festive and bright, but as I said, kind of too light for me to wear regularly.

I love a coffee scent! Here we have creamy coffee ice cream as the star, with background notes of fried funnel cake and a touch of cinnamon (apparently there was confusion over the ice cream not being cinnamon, but I really do still think there’s cinnamon?) Very foodie, very sweet and comforting.

I never thought of putting honey in my coffee, but now I must. I’m getting exactly two notes here, rich coffee (with milk) and sweet honey. I’m not getting the cinnamon so it must be very light. Simply exquisite!

Long Eared Owl on a Bare Tree Branch
tinyvulture replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Limited Editions
BPAL won my heart with Black Forest in 2005 and is still making intriguing and varied “forest” blends after all these years. Here we have the cedar and oak with a touch of frost note, but also some violets that are absolutely thriving in the chilly woods. And also a bit the “feathery incense” from the description. I’m not getting any plum, but at first there was what I would describe as a “skunky” weed-like note. It faded so I have no idea! The surprising power of the violets stops me from needing a whole bottle since they’re not my favorite flower, but I’ll definitely make use of the decant.- 2 replies

Terrible Moon: Pistachio and Vanilla Buttercream
tinyvulture replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I agree with doomsday_disco that is is an almondy pistachio! It has that sweet syrupy vibe of the lab’s almond note. And then there’s the sweet vanilla buttercream which is more tangy cream cheese frosting than “butter”, to my nose. I don’t need a whole bottle, but it’s very pleasant!- 4 replies

Instantly I need a bottle of this! Cinnamon is the main note but there’s also a sweet syrupy incense (Which incense is like cola? Myrrh?), lots of sugar and the vanilla clouds of marshmallow. The vibe is a cinnamon cola turned into a “dirty dr Pepper” type soda by adding sweet cream. GORGEOUS!

Terrible Moon: Honey Dust and Toasted Oats
tinyvulture replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
A foodie treat! The toasted oats are buttery and wholesome. It seems like they are tossed with a slighted bit of cinnamon, and the honey may have a citrus twang to it. So this is multidimensional, not as simple as it sounds. Comforting and sweet!- 1 reply

I love the Sufganiyots! At first I get the tangy creaminess of the cream cheese, and then the tart, sweet blackberry jam takes over. Will they balance each other out? No, the jam is going to stay a little bit stronger than the cream cheese. There’s also the definite presence of the sweet fried pastry note. Exactly what it says it is! Love it!

Heart-Shaped Beanie on the Metro
tinyvulture replied to TheIceMaiden's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
Sugared red rose and orange blossom. The red rose is a bit stronger than the orange blossom. This is a medium-throw scent, sweet but not cloying. I love all sugared florals! -
There is a Burke & Hare candle I love, Eros, with notes of chocolate and clove. This is like Eros but with the addition of fresh, ripe strawberry! I’d love to get a bottle. It’s so fun and sexy. Is there labdanum? Maybe, but all I get is chocolate, clove and strawberry. ( Not really in the sense of ice cream flavors but actual chocolate and strawberries). So good!

Very herbal to start with. The mugwort is strong. Then there’s light white tea and neroli. It’s very crisp, clean, grassy. Like a garden tea party, among citrus trees and herb plants. Different than what I usually go for, but nice!

Soft May the Worms About Her Creep - A lovely creamy floral. Gentle star jasmine, powdery and honey-sweet, blends with soft white coconut and pale pink strawberry cream. Really understated. Makes you feel like the most relaxed, happy version of yourself on a tropical vacation. I am not getting any oud at all!

Imperious Three-Headed Dragon in a Jaunty Blue Coat
tinyvulture replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Event Exclusive Oils
Imperious Three-Headed Dragon - A sweet, fruity scent packed with ripe blackberries and blueberries. I’m not getting licorice root or jasmine. Instead, this is a straightforward berry blend. The berries are warmed by the present of black amber and musk. Later the jasmine does appear, and it’s a welcome addition, adding complexity. The licorice never shows up. Still, I like this blend quite a lot.- 5 replies

This is kind of like pumpkin French toast. I’m definitely getting maple syrup! This has a crazy amount of throw. Tons of cinnamon sugar, and sweet fried dough. Not a lot of pumpkin to be honest, but it’s there. Foodie fiends, get you some!

Hungry Ghost Moon: Oven-Warm Pizza Crust and Oregano
tinyvulture replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Pizza crust! It’s like you can even smell the fermentation in the dough. Flecks of oregano worked into the crust. A touch of salt. A couple of nice charred areas. Now I want some breadsticks!- 7 replies

A very vague, subtle, powdery sweet musk. I will try layering this with other scents but it doesn’t do a lot for me on its own. Don’t need a bottle.
-
Chocolate powder mixed with cream, like a powdered hot cocoa vibe. But also creamy basmati rice! Not really getting coconut or spices. Hot cocoa and basmati rice are amazing together. Definitely want a bottle. So comforting.

Simple and lovely! Rich fossilized amber sprinkled with sugar. Sweet and warm. This one works very well with my skin chemistry.
-
Winter Wakeneth Al My Care - Strong patchouli and frankincense! Mild champaca. Not picking up any vanilla or amber. So this is quite a strong, energizing scent. Not shrinking from anything. Sharp, earthy, spicy, masculine. I enjoy it but don’t need a bottle.
-
Old-fashioned, ladylike, clean blend. The dusting powder is strong, along with the rosewater and sharp gardenia. I would like a soap of this scent.
