    Ourobouros

I have had strong results from Ourobouros, probably because I took the time to use a ritual. It's very green and bracing, has lavender or a similar aromatic. This is good for me, I love lavender. There is something intense and persistent about it. Last fall I switched jobs, and wanted to transfer as much knowledge as possible before leaving the old place. I rubbed Ourobouros on my fingertips, and marked the corners of my work notebook, and stated I wanted to complete as much as I reasonably could in a responsible manner for all involved. It did take one or two re-applications, but it was worth it each time. I got a lot done, and when I left my team member gave me a card thanking for me taking the time to train people.

    Charisma

This is definitely amber. Since I find amber painful and sneezy, it wasn't a success for me. Echoing others that it's a warm brown sugar aroma, with a pleasant smell of hops underneath.
  3. Also don't like the sweet stuff. And I thought I didn't like florals, but BPAL is all about the surprises. Anyway, the ones below are not sweet on me. Which is like a miracle. Word up on the Zombi rec. That's a good way to learn real quick if you like BPAL's dirt note or not. Also with Apple on Garden Path with Chickens -- big, lush and green, well worth checking out. My skin ate the grass, ivy and herbs, though. Left me with a barely-there floral. More rose stuff: Rome (cypress, juniper, chamomile and rose.) I love how rose is a stealth operator in this. The cypress and juniper are spicy green without being sharp, the rose floats up and is beautiful, while the chamomile keeps everything civilized. On the pretty side: Maiden (white tea, carnation and Damask Rose) is my favorite rose scent right now. I'm getting compliments all the time. The white tea keeps the florals from being goofy. It's both quiet and long-lasting, and as you say, soft and pretty and grown-up all at once.

Sage scents - White, Clary, and others

No. 93 Engine contains white sage. It's neither sweet nor floral, but it is golden and resinous. The sage definitely shows up on the drydown for me, and stays around for a while.
  5. One of the anniversary scents is a dirt blend with fruits, although they're not the ones requested. (mmmmm. dirt. ) EARTH PHOENIX Hard work, patience, and harmony: Chinese musk, dark musk, and moist soil with black cherry, opopponax, night-blooming jasmine, plum, woodland tobacco, snakeweed, and cypress.

    I need more Cherry!

King of Hearts. I found the black cherry in this to be gorgeous.

    Bayou

A lazy, warm deep green scent with a thick aquatic undertone: Spanish moss, evergreen and cypress with watery blue-green notes and an eddy of hothouse flowers and swamp blooms. In the imp: Thick, sweet, overheated floral. Sad!! Those flowers are way past their sell-by date. I'm not getting any mossy fun. And if Coldfire is right in calling out white ginger, that would explain a lot.

    La Belle au Bois Dormant

Mademoiselle wishes to inform me that pear is a bad fruit for me.

    Lustration

In the imp: Faint, sweet citrus. Wet: Tangerine! And a tiny spritz of eucalyptus, which slightly warms the skin, then vanishes. Calming and kind. However, I get the idea that the entire imp will evaporate within five days.

    Glasgow

In the imp: I'm really digging this. Surprising, because I thought the blackberry would be a no. All other fruits are disastrous for me. Wet: A sweet, dark blue smell, with a warm woolen wrap. Heather is magic for transforming sweetness. Dry: The blackberry wine is still quite sweet, but attractive woven into the cloak of heather. Later: This really is beautiful, and I usually can't handle sweet at all. Dooblie doo, looking for more heather . . .

    Succor

In the imp: A strong olive, sour and attractive. Wet: Still has the tangy brightness of an olive. Very good on my skin -- until it gets to a tarry, blacktop smell. Dry: I like olive better when it's in Banded Sea Snake. In terms of effectiveness, other Panaceas worked better for me.

    Strangler Fig

In the imp: You say woody and green, but I say chewy and sweet. Wet: All right, it's green. This is the green smell of a climbing vine or sapling, which you are trying to uproot. When you split the vine, it shows some white sap, and gives up a bittersweet smell. Both woody, and underripe. That's this. Deepening as it dries, and throwing a gentle spice combination. Dry: There is too much fruity folding around the spicy thing.

    Garden Path With Chickens

In the imp: Fresh, intricate, beautiful. Laundry hung in the night garden. Wet: Love that cut grass! Also, there's a glorious big flower -- is that gardenia? But as it dries, turns into more of a standard floral. Dry: Grass has almost disappeared. Still beautiful, but faint and less interesting, now that the grass and ivy are swallowed by my skin.

    Santa Eularia Des Riu

In the imp: Love it in the imp -- lavender and citrus are great favorites. Now to find out if jasmine works. Wet: The jasmine has a sour smell. The lemon and the jasmine together are very attractive. Good thing I like lemondrops. Drydown: Lemon and jasmine are gone. Dusty dried-out herbs are showing up. Smells like a ten-year old bottle of oregano. Dry: Disappears completely for one hour. Gone baby gone. And then the jasmine is back, mostly ammonia.

    The Hesperides

In the imp: Apple-y apple. Wet: That's a lot of sliced apple. Too fruity for me. Drydown: Alternates between apple megaphone, and less fruit-tastic -- a little bit of oak. Dry: The apple is more folded in with a barely-there oak base note. This really is a freshly-cut apple, not sweet or perfume-y. But I still don't like (non-citrus) fruit. This would work well for someone who likes apple, and whose skin can meld these notes better.
