    Creepy

Wet: Ohhhh yummyyy! Caramel apples, but the apple is so bright and sparkling! Later, the butterscotch comes out more and mixes very well with the caramel. Oh wow, this one is a definite keeper! I want a bottle of this, so hard to find though!!!

    Mi-Go Brain Canister

This scent starts off smelling similar to Shango to me, but without the chili pepper. As time goes on, Mi Go changes, and while it remains fruity, some white floral notes peak through. I am getting a hint of Snow White in here! It is very faint though. The scent dries down to a light, fruity-floral. Great for spring and summer.

    Freak Show

Wet: Strange indeed. Extremely foody and sweet. I recognize cocoa (thought it was caramel at first actually) but not much else. Drydown: Still foody and has an almost nutty quality. Could it be the tonka? I like this scent but the fruits aren't very pronounced on my skin. It is almost too well blended, but smells nice. I'm not crazy about this and had higher hopes for it. It almost smells like coffee sometimes when I sniff it.

    Sugar Skull

Wet: Gooey honey. Drydown: Sugary cinnamon honey. Is there cinnamon in this? Overall a very nice scent. It is very foody. I like how the cinnamon notes (if that is what they are) mesh well with the honey. This scent almost reminds me of iced tea with honey mixed in. Oh! I just read the description again. This reminds me of caramel apples too!

    Hemlock

On me, this scent is like taking a long deep breath of Pine Sol. Very sharp and bitter. But yeah, seriously Pine Sol.

    Zarita, the Doll Girl (2006)

Hmmm I wonder if my decant was mismarked because this doesn't sound like the description. I can smell orange very slightly but nothing really foody, which I expected. It mainly smells floral with a citrus tinge. Not my style really.

    Dilution and Carrier Oils

I mixed Wrath 2ml with about 2ml of jojoba oil in a glass roller ball bottle and it mixed great. So if you are having mixing problems with the jojoba oil that you are using you might want to try The Vitamin Shoppe brand.

    Cottonmouth

Wet all I get from this is light, sweet flowers. I don't really detect any Snake Oil. The flowers become slighter sweeter the longer I wear this. I like florals but this is not one I'd reach for often.

    Shoggoth

Wow, very strong when wet! Is that the lemongrass or the lime at full strength? As it dries it becomes softer, but is still a sharp scent. I guess it is the lime after all that is standing out because this reminds me of the green lime Runts candy. Sourrrr (yet slightly sweet). I'll keep this around for a little while as a pick-me-up scent.

    Milk Moon 2007

I'm on the fence a little about this one. I get the milky scent right away upon sniffing the bottle...it is almost boozy because of all the fruitiness swirling around inside with the milk. On my skin it is very interesting. I don't really smell sour milk though. It smells like a mix of figs and rich sweet milk. It's very unique and hard to describe. I can sort of see how people might think it is a mix of pineapple and coconut. I'll keep this one around for further testing.

    The Antikythera Mechanism

This one was a bit off-putting at first...must be the teak? It slowly develops into something much nicer as the sweet dark vanilla comes out. Finally upon drydown I catch something familiar in this scent. It is a note that was in my beloved gone forever Escada Collection and it even smells like the original Lolita Lempicka (which has the tonka & vanilla). Yummmmmyyyyyy! This scent is very rich, sexy, velvety, and yes, like others have described, smells "Victorian". Two shades of color that could describe this scent would be amber gold and deep burgandy. I like this!

I want a BPAL that smells like Bath & Body Works...

I found a great similarity between B&BW Breathe Happiness/Citrus Watermint and Megaera if anyone else ever wanted to find a BPAL that smells like it.

    Megaera

Oh wow, I love this one! The grapefruit is the first note I get from it. There are some deeper notes swirling around though. The scent smells aquatic to me. I think I might have to get a big bottle! Ohhh I know what it smells like! It smells like B&BW Breath Happiness. Wow!

    Poisson d'Avril

This scent to me is sweet, pink, pretty, and just "fluffy" lol. I really like it. It also reminds me of baby dolls for some reason, maybe because the scent is so girly.

    Upa Upa

Dark and spicy is definitely what I get from this scent. I smell a black coconut note, or at least something "woody". I don't get much pineapple, at least I don't get a sharp, juicy pineapple note. I get the Christmas feel to it as well. Maybe this is like a visit to the islands during Christmas time!

    Hairy Toad Lily

This smells so good! Like sugared flower petals. It definitely gives off a "purple" vibe. It might be my favorite BPAL floral.

    Yemaya

Yemaya to me smells like those suckers that you can buy that you dip into the candy powder. The suckers that are shaped like feet haha. Lol, this is what I thought while smelling Yemaya. It is a very pretty melon scent. Very fresh and vibrant. As the scents dries down the melon gets lighter. I can pick out the grapes in this scent and it works very well with the melon. Such a great scent for summer.
  18. Thanks for all of your help! Josh that is a good idea. It would be nice to know what each notes smells like so I can pick them out. Thanks for suggesting that. Someone in another thread also recommended in order to see what amber really smells like is to buy the amber resin blocks. I might buy one of those so I can see what true amber smells like. You know, the more I think about it, amber is probably the note that leaves the sweet powdery smell. I saw in some reviews of fragrances with that note that people were saying that they didn't like how amber turned powdery on them (hehe and I like the powdery-ness so maybe I'm a weirdo!) Of course maybe it is a mix of the amber and the myrrh in Black Lotus (or like AEris said, the lotus itself) that is creating the mix of sweet and powdery. Black Lotus is a great scent! I think I may have noticed the sweet powdery drydown in Black Dahlia. I am testing it right now to see if I get that. If so, then I will almost for sure know it is the amber that I like because Black Dahlia contains black amber and no myrrh at all. So if this oil would hurry up and get to that stage on my skin! Of course I would much rather have the powdery sweetness emerge at the beginning of a scent and stay the whole time as opposed to having it in just the drydown. Hmm I've never heard anything about BPAL Egyptian Amber and Aeronwen. I think I'll give those a try.

    Monster Bait: Underbed

Out of the bottle this was very nutty. On my skin it is very woody, like the shell of the coconut as opposed to the milk. I can smell a little of the cocoa but the woody note is overtaking it. This scent is definitely not as sweet as I thought it would be. It almost has a "burned" smell to it, like burned wood. Now as it is drying down I am catching a sweeter note, like dark vanilla. Overall, an interesting scent that doesn't really smell like the description (on me at least).
  20. Black Lotus has both myrrh and amber in it and it dries down to such an amazing scent on my skin. I too was trying to figure out what that scent was so I could get other BPAL's with that same note/s. I wonder if it is the mix of the myrrh and amber or if it is just one of those notes that I really like. I can only describe that the note I like is a sweet, almost sweet tart, powdery note. Does anyone know which note it could be? The myrrh or the amber? Thanks!

    Asp Viper (2006)

This is the scent that I wanted Queen of Sheba to be. The same almond note is in this blend, but the base is much sweeter, which I prefer. This scent is Dana O'Shee + Queen of Sheba + Snake Oil. The drydown in the best part of this. It is when the Snake Oil appears. I'm glad that the almond note doesn't stick around the whole time as the BPAL almond note is very "dry" to my nose. It is not a sweet almond. Asp Viper is a great scent!

    Fruit Moon

Like someone mentioned before, this IS reminiscent of Runts candies. That's what it smells like, especially the center of the candy when you bite down on it. Like powdered candy. It is pretty light on me though. I wish it was stronger. It's a really yummy scent though.

    Jezebel

I definitely get the honey in this one. I find it a little hard to distinguish honey in other BPAL blends, for example, O. This is a rich, thick honey with a hint of fruityness. A sexy scent. I honestly don't get much rose in this one. As the scent dries down the honey note starts to disappear and the scent becomes more perfumey.
  24. DARKBEAUTY28

    Harlot

This isn't my impression of what a harlot would smell like at all. It is a soft, pretty, rose scent. It's very light on me. I can smell a powdery note. A nice scent but should smell stronger to match such a strong name.

    Katharina

Oh wow, this one is SO GOOD! Bright, sunny, crisp. If this was a shade it would definitely be orange, like the fruit it contains. Ahhh wonderful and I am going to get more of this one!
