White tea is reading as mint on me in this blend?? I'm ending up with minty orris as my main notes. If I smash my nose against my wrist I can smell the tea better and some dry vanilla. However the throw is pure minty iris. It's lovely but I don't think I need the blind bottle I bought. I had really high hopes for this one but minty iris is too dominant. Le sigh.

    Stekkjarstaur

This is just...hands down amazing. It's made me a foodie believer. Wet: buttery Rice Krispy treats with lots of marshmallow. Drydown: Just the hint of burning sugar and luckily this phase blows by in a few minutes Dry: Beautiful and yummy foodie vanilla marshmallows. O. M . G. I love marshmallows and even my SO likes this one. We have a winner!!!!! Synopsis: One bottle is not enough, folks. Needs moar bottles.

    Mrs. Valentine

That must be one big drop of red musk, guys! Good thing I like red musk for the most part Wet: RED MUSK CORN CHIP PARTY! Red musk always initially smells like Fritos to me, or puppy toes! This persists into initial drydown which isn't usual. I'm a bit worried. Dry: I'm getting the white sandalwood, vanilla, and either the mallow flower or sweet oudh (possibly both, but my smeller ain't that good with the sniffles.) I still get red musk, but it's calmed the eff down and is relaxing with the others. This is about an hour into wearing it at this point, but it's lovely and sweet and definitely sexy thanks to the red musk. The sandalwood is grounding it for me, and it's not --on me at least--a foodie vanilla at all. Overall: I like this after about an hour. It's a little obnoxious when wet and hoo boy, a dab will do. Strong throw. But it is SO WORTH IT to let it dry and become this beautiful sexy scent. I've got one bottle, and I think one bottle will do me on this lady.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

Cancer 2007 is a lovely watery lettuce!

    Gelt

Well this went poorly. Wet: cocoa puff! Dry: sickly sweet and almost acrid/rotten and not gonna lie, it smelled like my cats rear end...so gross. Even scrubbing could not kill the cat ass smell. *cries*

    Rain Scents

I think Waiting smells like rain. A little salty and watery, but still a lot of lavender too.

    Edith Cushing

This is what I wanted Reapers Gonna Reap to be (and what I hope it ages into.) Warmer and sweeter, just the right amount of powdery amber. This is just a more inviting and comforting scent. Reminds me of the amber in Lady Death. Will edit with staying power and any morphing but first impression is HELL YES. (Also apparently I need to try Lyonesse.)

    Pollution

Oh boy, I'm in love. All the yes. I bought this because I love 51, and I was not disappointed. This is like the sophisticate perfumed sibling of 51. In the bottle: Is that you, 51? It's the green musk and white amber. This is far less woody and more ladylike. I get floral with this in a different way than 51. Ozone too, my love. Hi there! Wet: sooooo green. I love it. Dry: My husband called it "old lady perfume" but if this is what an old lady smells like, I am so down for getting older. I LOVE IT. Fresh, bright, ozone, green, floral. Loooooove it. I'm sad I only have a 1/2 bottle honestly. However... it is pretty close to 51. My 51 is super aged, it's more like 59 by now if we were counting, haha. They do vary quite a bit (51 is less 'bright green', it's got a lot more wood and salt to it.) Surprisingly, I prefer Pollution to my 51 though. Love it.

    St. Clare

In the bottle: Hello, sexy. Lightly vanilla and soft rum. Mmm Wet on skin: Well, there's the tobacco. Sandalwood and rum and oudh are playing nicely. I get how people can find a sour note in this, but it was short-lived. Dry: Ahh I understand the incense now, ooh and the mahogany. This smells like the cheap incense I used to grab as a teen in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE (not overpoweringly so, but in an 'ahh memories' sort of way). Still hints of vanilla and tobacco. I'm ...oddly...liking this. This is out of my wheelhouse but the more it dries, the more I'm like YES! This is FAR more masculine than I expected from my first bottle whiff. However, for someone who is new on the scene to tobacco...I actually really like this? It's taken another turn and gotten sweeter (vanillic rum!) and I am really digging this one.

    Recalcitrant Dragon

So I love green musk. But as far as my green musk love goes, this one is more animalistic than oozy green like Pollution and 51. Not a BAD thing, but surprising. In Bottle: Sharp, bitter, maybe a hint of smoke Wet on skin: Smokey sharp green musk, but the tobacco is coming through and .... Dry: AND there's the vanilla. Far less sharp now, no longer herbal, but definitely still an animalistic musk vs. the oozy luminous green musk in my other loves. Verdict: This is actually a lot more masculine than I thought it would be, but luckily I tend to migrate to the more andro scents of BPAL. I think this is an interesting scent, to be sure! I like it. I don't think I need MORE of it, but this 5ml will get some love. It's not an overly sweet vanilla, nor is it too smokey or too tobacco-infused. I think it's well grounded, and I'll also be stealthily applying this to the husband to see how it goes on his skin. This continues to get more lovely as it dries, btw.

    Fae

Lab frimp of fae and I like it a lot! How have I never smelled this one before?? It smells like Victoria Secret Love Spell on me...except complex and just a hint of spice which is maybe the oakmoss? I'm not entirely sure I need a whole bottle but I love the sweet peachy effervescence like this is a bubbly summer Moscato without going to candyland. Fresh and fun and definitely something for summer and spring.

    Coconut Meat

So saddened, it's all fake plastic coconut on me. Chemically plastic. Not even coconutty. SO SAD. It remained this way from wet to dry and that is just a shame!
  14. Avobath bomb and Die Nacht smell the exact same to me. I am ok with this!

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

I immediately think of Wensleydale for some reason. As well as Dirty. Both have that clean skin/laundry softness going on (although Dirty is a bit sweeter and more floral/fresh). Thought they might be comforting. I would also recommend Parsifal, as it is an ozonic floral and somehow I feel like the archetype of the knight errant fits someone who likes reading/gaming? Maybe because you mentioned gaming, I would also recommend Paladin. It's a clean silver kind of scent (light leather with a tiny clang of metal). I imagine for you, it would fit well with Good (a sweet musk) or Neutral (skin musk). You mentioned anxiousness, so I thought of Cathode. It's a green chypre and described as "negatively charged." Made me think of frenetic energy. Hope this helps! Thanks! I let my bottle of Parsifal go in 2009 and I've been thinking of repurchasing and that just confirms it I do like Neutral and have a bottle, I'll have to try Good too. I'll have to look into Wensleydale and Cathode!

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Ohh, I need some new recs...I've found most of my wishlist bottles and now I need new addictions >.> 1) Introverted 2) independent (only child) 3) competitive (in gaming mostly, but also at work >.>) 4) sensitive emotionally 5) anxious I'm a pretty typical Cancer, haha. I am a total homebody and I love my pets and reading. As far as bpal goes, my death note is violet, and I'm not a huge fan of vetiver or really wooly/furry smelling blends. I have ventured into foodie/spicy lately, but sometimes red musk makes me smell like a corn chip (idk why.) Favorite scents: The Girl, Morocco, Serpentine, Dorian, Harp of C'noc, 51 (I like white florals, ozone, green musk/skin musk/white musk/pale musk, sandalwood, vanilla, etc. etc.) Help a sister out!
  17. Happicuppa

    Morocco

In the bottle: I'm not going to lie, I hate how this smells in the bottle. I also hate it fresh. So I let this puppy sit for over a year, and now it's been 3 years and I still don't like it in the bottle. Sorry carnation. You're not my fave wet. Wet: You're better on skin, now I can smell the musk and spices -- I want to say cardamom? -- and still that gd carnation. Drydown: The carnation takes a hike. Thank godddd. The musk, spices, and cassia come out to play and hnggggg I love it. I get a creamy note too -- what's that? Not quite vanilla though. All I know is the floral has backed off and I get a skin-hugging musk with some beautiful spices and just a hint of creamy vanilla-ish goodness. Status: I own a bottle, and once it's low I'll seek out a new one but this one is definitely better with age.
  18. Happicuppa

    Lady Death: Savage

In the bottle: Dude, I don't know how to separate these notes, only that they smell heavenly together. I almost smell lavender vanilla which is crazy talk, because no lavender in there! Maybe it's the jasmine and vanilla and begamont? Musk. I smell that and some amber. It's pretty gd amazing it what it is. Wet: amber, musk, floral....super floral suddenly. Drydown: Spicy, musky-amber goodness and a little woody (like dry wood though?) -- definitely the vanilla absolute and floral come out to play. It fades fairly quickly and the throw seems to go from strong to meek fairly quickly on me, but I get whiffs of it throughout the day and mmmm it's a beauty. Status: Buy a backup bottle, STAT!
  19. Happicuppa

    Sachs

In the bottle: Herbal vanilla, very 'green' and sweet for a moment. On wet: Still very chamomile, but the vanilla comes out as it begins to dry. Drydown: Ahh there's the smokey vanilla, a little bourbon, and behind it a mild chamomile that balances it and keeps it from being too sweet. The chamomile gives it a skin-hugging dusky quality and I love it. Even better, my husband likes it too! Status: Buy a 2nd bottle Edit: revisiting to say that this could definitely be a daily signature scent. Very subtly sexy.

    Motherhood 2016

A Little More Tea Lilith says that the Mad Hatter should smell like tea (EARL GREY!) with honey and cream and lots and lots of cookies. I want to try it but I'm afraid of what the honey note will do on me. Decant worthy. Babys First Krampuslauf Dark chocolate and a hint of woodsmoke. None of these notes really work for me, I'm safe. Caldarium Mulberry and honey myrtle with flax and rosemary. This is not my jam. Circus Bear rose, gardenia, styrax, and frankincense splattered with cotton candy and the white glop in the middle of Oreos Not something I'd enjoy but a cool concept! Connecting Flight The distant scent of black coffee spiked with coffee liqueur and dusted with cinnamon. I think I'll pass on this one. Dinnertime at the Diviners Hut Tomato leaf and frankincense. Eugh I hate tomato leaf. Funerary Papyri Myrrh and papyrus reed with a smear of vanilla cream frosting. I bet this is nice but it's not grabbing me. Maybe I'll watch reviews. Good Morning, London A scent for my bed-headed September 2nd Virgos: lavender for Lilith and amber for Brian. #2 on my "buy a blind bottle" list from this update. Def want. Heavenly Spark the echoes of the incense smoke of hundreds upon hundreds of years curling around roses and oak branches. I don't do awesome with roses but again, sounds lovely! Heel The scent of our backyard in summertime, the scent of Lilith trying to explain to Pickle how to heel correctly: honeysuckle, late summer jasmine, and mowed grass. Definitely want to try a decant. I got Goofin' with Stonehenge and that's already got a grass note. But I love honeysuckle! Holy Trinity Soft riverbank soil, winter daffodils, fog-damp grass, curled pondweed, and frankincense. Earthy, loamy scents don't work well for me usually. La Milagrosa clusters of mariposa and mahoe, sprays of black orchid, loves red roses, and a thin drift of cigar smoke. Pass. Lilith and Sekhmet Blood wine and amber. Pass. Lilith and the Four Sons of Horus Golden honey and cassia. I'm afraid this would go to powder on me but lovely sounding. Little Lady Frankenstein This should smell like electricity and potions. I did my best, kid. Oh man I want to know what this is like so bad! I love ozone. Watching for reviews and definitely need a decant. Maybe a bottle... Motherhood Snake Oil, lavender, bubblegum, and gummi bears. You lost me at bubblegum. My Little Grotesque Lilith expressing herself at the V&A: cardamom-dusted cupcakes. Mmm cardamom. I want to try this one badly. Possibly blind bottle badly. O The Joy of My Spirit! Crooked hazelnut and tonka with a touch of cacao and black pine. I really want to test this but idk about pine? Decant and watch reviews. Outlaw This one is for my little bandit: sarsaparilla, leather, and vanilla cream. Hmm my husband perked up at this one so maybe a bottle. Perfect Fifths Bow rosin and bubblegum. Nope! Plush Viscera Lilith says this should smell like blood and guts, but also strawberries. We came to a compromise through a combination of Dragons blood resin, myrrh, and smushed strawberries with a little bit of lavender. She sprays lavender essential oil on her plushies every night before bed, so she thinks plush innards should get the same treatment. So curious, but I dont think I'll buy it. Review stalk. Reapers Gonna Reap Lilith says this perfume should smell like pretty meat bones, and her translation of that is a musky vanilla sandalwood. Yes yes yes I'm buying a bottle yes. San Cristóbal de la Habana Cubas white ginger blossoms, guava pulp, and mango with a touch of white tobacco and sea salt. Decant shortlist Spider Witch My little witch, my little lilt of laughter: this scent is for the sorceress you are and the sorceress you will grow to be. 7-year aged patchouli, red musk, and bourbon vanilla with sweet oudh, hazelnut, amber chypre, leather. Interested and potentially decant worthy...Bottle? Idk Stonehenge at Dusk Wiltshires burnt-tip orchids, a scattering of dandelions, crushed grass, wild daffodil, and chips of fog-wet bluestone. I picked up the trading posts stonehenge scent so pass. Texare This scent is inspired by the colors of the yarns she chose that day: raspberry pink, cherry red, sky blue, and lime green, all swirled with frankincense, black oudh, mallow root, and sweet wooly vanilla husk. Again, not for me but cool and I want to stalk reviews! The Devil Will Find Work for Idle Hands This scent is a ridiculous mélange of blue cotton candy, strawberry marshmallows, and whipped cream with sprinkles. Too sweet but very fun! The Great Python Snake Lilith says that Kaa smells like the jungle, so for her and for the Great Python Snake, Ive bottled an impenetrable canopy of thick, vine-draped trees, primeval flowers blooming in the shadows, and dark, wet earth that has not been touched by sunlight in a millennia. Pass. The Library of John Dee Worn leather bindings, the dry crackle of ancient paper, styrax and onycha, frankincense, a drop of candle wax, and the barest fleck of dried Tudor roses. Curious but will watch reviews. The Twelfth This is the scent of room service vanilla ice cream and leftover cake with a little bit of banana. Home girl doesn't do banana. The Wolf and the Rattlesnake NO NOTES LISTED SO CURIOUS! decant? Vampire Night at the Movies An odd mix of salted popcorn, butter, clove, and a few drops of stage blood. Again, pads. Soooo...maybe a few bottles. Will wait for weenies.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

I'm just freshly back to the BPAL fold and now actually have a decent income (money?! what's this!) and want to try some new things. Problem...my #1 is long gone and hard to find. But here are my top at the moment. At least most are GC? 1) The Girl <3 2) Morocco 3) Dorian 4) 51 5) Archangel Winter/Torture Queen toss-up I would bathe in The Girl if possible, so some of those notes would be awesome in another oil perhaps? I've been scouring but not found much luck. I think I tend towards ozone but more in a 'crystalline' sense? I like white and green musks (usure on reds?) and white florals. But! I want to try some new things since it's been so long and my skin chemistry and nose aren't the same as they were 5 years ago. Thanks! <3

    Switch Witch Predictions

Hello witch! I am usually very good at figuring out who is my witch but this time I didn't look for a return address (i'm not sure if there WAS one?) on the box you sent earlier in the round. Still...I've compiled a small list of likely suspects based on the small amount of info you've given me... 1) I do not believe you are overseas. I believe you live in the US. 2) I'm fairly certain you are of the ladybits persuasion. 3) You have implemented a minion or two. 4) According to you, we have a lot in common... So... 1) Stariel--Probably not but the gift card from Villainess came from Stariel. Probably a kind minion...but sometimes us witchees forget these things and accidentally reveal too much info. 2) Cielamara--I've traded to you in circular swaps so maybe you though I would recognize your address? 3) Kittyhawk--we have things in common politically so maybe? Probably a long shot 4) Coldandsleepy--okay...I'm just drawing at straws I think... 5) StinkyPinky--just a gut feeling (though my guts, at the moment, are ill so I'm probably off..) She JUST sent off her reveal so probably not... I am probably horribly, horribly wrong. Like I said, I'm usually on it but this year not so much!
