    Harvest Moon 2008

The first word that comes to mind when trying this is CRISP. There's a lot of apple when wet, but it dries to a much greener and herbal scent. I was kind of hoping for more fruit, but it's definitely interesting. It seems a bit too desolate to be fall though - to me it's more evocative of late fall/early winter.

    Zombi

Here are the notes from when I tried Zombi at a Meet-n-Sniff... "DIRT...sweet dirt? HOLY THROW BATMAN!" That pretty much sums it up It was a wonderful dirt note, but it's not really me.

    The Dormouse

Oh, The Dormouse. Here's the conversation about it after I applied it at a Meet-n-Sniff: Me: *sniff* ...This smells like beer. Friend: O_o You need to take a break and go sniff some coffee! Me: Seriously! *sniffs again* Man, this is BEER! Smell it! Friend 2: ..........Yeah, that's beer alright. *Everybody sniffs my wrist and agrees* So yeah. Dormouse = Beer. I don't get it either.

    L'Estate Atmospheric Spray

I have another testament to the power of this spray. But first, the scent! Summer is pretty much gone, which has me quite depressed because it's my favorite season. The whole L'Estate set is helping me beat back that Autumn atmosphere. This spray smells very similar to the perfume oil to me - very much amber, sweetened a bit with vanilla. There's a hint of orange to this as well. It's definitely summer in a bottle, and I really like it. Now, for those of you who have an indoors-only cat, you can probably identify with me on the problem of where to put the litter box. I have a small condo, but I wanted to keep it somewhere where any guests were sure not to ever be near it. Unfortunately, that spot is about 12 feet away from my desk. I suffered gamely, until one day it hit me to spray L'Estate one or two times in the direction of the box. The result? AMAZING. My office smells like a beautiful summer day and nothing else. Thank you for saving me, Post!

    Queen Alice

In the imp: Carnation and wood. Interesting and quite beautiful! On me: Can I just say how excited I am that carnation is the dominant note? It smells totally lovely, and then slowly fades away. Now I can barely smell it on me! I think this one would be PERFECT for an oil burner. Carnation is the perfect mix of creamy and spicy and isn't soapy at all - why can't all florals be like it? Edit: Now that it's completely dry, the wine has come out quite a bit and is melding with the carnation in the most fascinating way! It's also a bit stronger on my skin too. What a lovely scent!

    Bliss

This is total milk chocolate, or maybe milk chocolate brownies. It's soooo yummy, but I can't see myself wearing something like this. It's too hunger-inducing and cloying. This is evil, but I think one of the funniest things to do with this scent would be to burn it in an oil burner during a party, and watch your friends drool over what they think are fresh-baked brownies in the oven. Then watch the mass-BPAL enabling begin! >.>

    Arcana

Unlike everybody else, I get no lavender once this is on my skin. It's lemon cleaning fluid that fades to baby powder. Wow, it doesn't get much worse than that, does it?

    Punkie Night

Funny story: When I first got an imp of this, I had a cold and couldn't smell very well, so I had to test it several times. I finally realized that I was testing it just so that I could smell it again, it was that yummy. Punkie Night is my all-time favorite apple scent. It smells just like a cider mill! The apple is so fresh and delicious that I just want to lick my arm. While I call pretty much every fall scent I try the definitive fall scent, to me this will always be MY definitive fall scent. Man, now I could go for some cider...

Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream

I totally thought I had reviewed this, and I hadn't O_o. Maybe I'm the one having weird dreams. In the bottle: Blueberry tempered with something else - I'm guessing the green tea and currant. On me, it pretty much vanishes. Solution? I wear it in my hair and get lovely wafts of blueberry all day. And what a blueberry! I love it a lot more than the blueberry in Blue Fire. Blue Fire was candy-like, but in sort of a fake way; Crawdad's blueberry is softer and more feminine yet still delicious. Sooooo glad I got a bottle unsniffed.

    L'Autunno

In the imp: A fresh Red Delicious apple..mmmmm... On me: There are the spicy notes! The apple is still the dominant note, but the other notes combine to give it a sort of...potpourri vibe. Damn. Still, there's no question that it's a quintessential autumn blend; it's 90 degrees in my office right now yet I want to go outside and jump in a pile of fallen leaves.

    Grand Guignol

In the imp: Slightly powdery apricots On me: Wow! It smells EXACTLY like a true apricot. Not syrup, not candy, but the smell you get when you bite into one, skin and all. I'm not getting any booze at all, it's pretty much Apricot SN on me. Fascinating!

    Eisheth Zenunim

In the imp: Chocolate peaches O_o On me: This is pretty much pure watery peaches on me. They're even sweeter than normal peaches thanks to the honey. I can barely detect a dark base of patchouli and cocoa, but I really have to sniff for it. Overall it's very light and seems appropriate for spring and summer, but I think I'm good on light fruit scents.
  13. sprocket21

    The Caterpillar

In the imp: Totally jasmine On me: *checks notes, checks label* Huh. I wasn't expecting pure florals from this. It's almost all jasmine on my skin. No incense, patchouli, or vetiver. Just a really sweet floral. Well, I guess the Caterpillar is nothing if not confused!

    Midway

Midway is one of my absolute favorite scents. It completely disappears from my skin, so I wear it in my hair and get whiffs of it all day. On me, I get pretty much all funnel cake, with a slight (but delicious) burnt sugar smell. I don't get any apple at all. I'm also happy with the level of sweetness - it's sweet, but not so sweet that my teeth hurt (I'm looking at you, Faith!). Overall it's a tasty scent that I feel comfortable wearing pretty much anytime.

    Pickled Imp

In the imp: Cinnamon and pine On me: It stays pretty true on my skin. It's mostly cinnamon and some smoky pine. I can't really detect the clove or the vanilla, but I think that the latter is adding a bit of sweetness. This is a lovely blend for those who like spicy scents.
  16. sprocket21

    Agrat-Bat-Mahlaht

In the imp: Caramel with a hint of apple On me: It stays pretty true to the imp smell on my skin - lots of caramel supported by apples. There's a bit of amber keeping it from being completely foody. As it dries, the apple comes out a bit more and battles with the caramel for dominance. This scent is nice, and a good level of sweetness for me, but I'm not a big fan of the caramel note. I'm okay with caramel if it's in the background, but this is a bit too much.

    Crypt Queen

In the imp: peppery red fruit On me: Red fruit and...pencil shavings? Boo, I've read that in a lot of reviews, but it's never happened to me. Otherwise, this is a lovely scent, fruity and yet so dark. I think "as sweet as death, as deep as the grave" couldn't be a more spot-on description.
  18. sprocket21

    Bilquis

In the imp: Sweet almond cake Oof. On me, this is almost nausea-inducing. There's something in here that goes very sharp and medicinal on my skin, and it is not pleasant. I'm not sure what I'm reacting to, because most of these notes either behave or amp in a non-nauseating way.
  19. sprocket21

    Penumbra

In the imp: Dark musk and tobacco On me: This is almost all dark purple musk on me, with a bit of smokiness from the tobacco. I'm inclined to call it masculine, as it reminds me of men's cologne. There's a tiny bit of sweetness to it, but overall it's too manly for me.
  20. sprocket21

    Mead Moon

In the imp: Very faint, I'm not getting much of anything, except maybe something creamy. On me: It turns into creamy lemon. There's a tiny bit of spice in the background as well, along with a bit of sweetness from the honey. I think the fermented-ness is making me feel a bit queasy. As it dries, it gets a bit medicinal on me, sort of like Snake Oil does. I almost feel lucky that this isn't instant love on me, because it's so loved and hard to find now.

    Knucklebones

In the imp: Sweet men's cologne On my skin: Why hello, tobacco! It's a sweet tobacco - there's a hearty dose of lime in the background. As it dries, the tobacco settles down a bit, and I can smell some of the orange blossom. This is a manly scent, but not a big hairy macho man, it's light enough to work well for any guy. Thumbs up!

    October

You know how someone can mention what a scent smells like, and totally ruin it for you? Yeah. For me, October = Jalapenos.
  23. sprocket21

    Inez

I third/fourth/whatever the Morocco comparison. They're both very similar, but Morocco actually behaves a bit better on my skin - Inez is a bit sharper and very very faint once she dries. Still, it's an exceedingly pretty, quite feminine scent. And I think it's my favorite art of the Grindhouse.
  24. sprocket21

    Ashlultum

Miss Ashlultum is almost...aquatic on me! In the imp, I couldn't smell it at all. On me, it's an exceedingly pretty scent, akin to a light peach beverage of some sort. There's little in the description or notes to suggest aquatic peach, but there you go. Oh hey, there's a bit of coconut in the background now! Mmm. It's a VERY faint scent on me though, and I have to smush my nose against my face to get anything from it.

    The Blood Garden

This is quite lovely! In the imp, it smells somewhat metallic; I suppose that's appropriate as blood has a metallic tang to it, no? On me the metallic tang goes away. The blood/grapes/currant dominate, but their sweetness is slightly tempered by the oak and leather. It seems to work similarly to Dionysia in that way - fruit tempered with something else to keep it from being that sweet. It's a very red scent; fruit lovers should at least give it a test, though I find that it's not quite strong and sweet enough for me.
