Switch Witch 2023 Q&A

Here are my answers to in-thread Switch Witch questions, plus a "I ALREADY BOUGHT IT" section that I've incorporated in case you see something and are wondering if I have it (not that I'd expect anyone to buy me things from some of these shops as they can be pricey). I promise not to buy anything off of my wishlist, but also don't want my witch to feel like they need to get anything off of it. (Amazon got rid of the universal wishlist, so I have to create a new one.) Etsy Universal Wishlist (Books were linked from Amazon for ease, but I love supporting indie bookstores and am happy with used books! Also, some things on here are things to show my taste, but wouldn't expect anyone to buy. $24 for a dishtowel? Pffft no, it would have to be on sale.)

I bought bottles of the aromatherapy scents that I didn't want to miss out on: Blackout Blinds, Recovery Room, and Unclench. (mooscents.com) I already ordered from her! 9/1 I was wondering whether Tim Tams in any incarnation would tempt my witchee? I love Tim Tams! I've had the normal, dark chocolate, and mint varieties. We also have caramel over here. I'd be tempted by limited edition flavors! On the less sweet side, are there any other Australian things you might be tempted by? Not vegemite. 😆 (I've had it.) But I love trying foods from different countries! Do you enjoy fanfic? Would you appreciate rare TAL decant(s) in 1 mL amber roll-on bottle(s)? I would! How do you feel about enamel pins? If positively, which fandoms or topics would you like? I love enamel pins! I have a pin board and need to get others, but I typically wear them on my button-up work shirts as long as there is more than one prong on the pin. (If not, then it doesn't really stay put very well on a shirt and has to go to be pin board only.) Here are some fandoms that I like: Doctor Who, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Fruits Basket (I have a few fan-made pins), Studio Ghibli (I currently have soot sprite and Haku pins from Spirited Away, but no other Ghibli pins), Alice in Wonderland, Winnie the Pooh, Our Flag Means Death, What We Do in the Shadows, Good Omens (I have two sets of Good Omens lapel pins). If I didn't note having any pins for a particular fandom, it is because I currently do not! I also have the Ectogasm bat lapel pins from last year's Halloween swap and tons of pins from The Pickety Witch. I'm into anime, and I think the only non-Fruits Basket anime-related pin that I own is Luna from Sailor Moon in a witch hat. Some of my favorite anime (aside from Fruits Basket) are xxxHolic, Ouran High School Host Club, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and I'm currently loving NANA and the new Bleach arc. 9/2 I make lightweight hairfalls, the kind that can be attached to a pony tail or to pig tails. They are good for those of us that are more tender-headed. I use a variety of materials like shibori ribbon, and puffy yarns and pieces of lace and silk. You can use them for every day or as part of your Weenie costume. Is this of interest to you? If so tell me what length, what color(s) and if you want one for a pony tail or two for pig tails. I was already graciously gifted your hairfalls in Krampusnacht.
During my recent travels I got to experience the incredible delight of Serge Luten perfumers here in Paris (imagine if the Lab and Anna Sui made babies inside a Cadbury Cream Egg decorated with stained glass windows and...you've come close to the experience of being in that shop). Anyway, after spending gobs of monies, they loaded me up with delectable samples of their insanely expensive wares- do you want some??? No, thank you!

I would say Brew Tea Bar, as that's the best tea spot in my city, and I'm there every other day and will likely be there every day once their pumpkin chai tea comes out next week. (They infuse real pumpkin and spices into the cream cheese on top.) But it doesn't look like they have gift cards available online. And the Matcha Cafe Maiko (matchalv.com) we have here is rebranding to Urban Matcha and is currently closed for a few weeks and are revamping their website, so I don't even know if they have gift cards for purchase online. Then I was going to say Sorry Not Sorry Creamery, a local Vegas ice cream spot, but they don't have online gift cards either. So perhaps Salt and Straw? White or green cherry tea, cherry jams or preserves, cocktail cherries, or cherries that can be used for baking would be great (just no pre-made baking mixes... I bake everything from scratch). Similarly, are you into fancy flavors of olive oil or vinegar? Check out Fustini's and let me know if anything appeals! I have never tried any flavored oils or vinegars, but I'd be down to try the flavored oils! Whatever would be great with roasted vegetables or salmon... White, milk, dark? What inclusions (fruit, nuts, none, etc.)? Gimme as many details as possible. Milk and dark chocolate, but milk is my favorite. White chocolate in moderation (as in, it's like swirled with some other chocolate or enrobing a dark chocolate or wafer or something) is okay. I like fruits and nuts, but tend to prefer chocolate with none. Although cherry and almond are chef's kiss.
I make mixed media art (like collaging kinda). Is a mixed media art piece (small like an altoids tin or small canvas) something you'd be interested in? I would love that!
What music platform do you use (Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, etc.)? Do you like receiving music recommendations? I use Spotify Premium. I am down to listen to music recommendations and tend to listen to music that has been recommended to me on my days in the office. HOWEVER... I am picky with music and aside from 80s stuff, tend to listen to some obscure stuff. I feel bad when someone is excited to show me music and I shoot down song after song. Because I’m a knitting kind of witch, would you appreciate a pair of hand knit socks. If yes, would you like them in a particular colour? That would be so lovely! I think purple would be great. What type of spooky season imagery do you like? (Ie. bats, ghosts, vintage Halloween, etc.) I love goth-y (like Abigail Larson's art) and cute Halloween (like Rhode Montijo, Cat Mallard, and Defective Pudding's art styles). My partner and I are big fans of cute ghosts. And I love bats, pumpkins, black cats, corvids, and vintage Halloween is great, too. Pls no gore or spiders. (But a cute spider with like, a happy face, is not a deal breaker on something with the main focus not being a spider.) Astrid's Autumn Line and Anniversary Tea Party just dropped. Anything you want? I am buying everything I want. (Which is to say, I'm buying 4-5 bottles and a fuckton of the anniversary decants and hoping they'll still be in stock by the time I get to test them (because Astrid does not restock scents unless they sell out immediately and there's a large demand for a restock.) gourmet quality fudge in many flavors (formerly from my ETSY shop which I had to close until I have my own home again) please give me an idea the kinds of flavors you like. My more popular ones are Penuche, Choc & PB, Pumpkin pie, Forest fruit (with cherries, blueberries and cranberries), Vegan chocolate I miss your fudge so bad. 😭 I love the pumpkin pie fudge, but I've also never tried penuche and would like to try it one day.

It's also that time of year where I make handmade soap (usually with calendula infused olive oil, tallow, oatmeal and honey) and candles (feel free to specify color and size, I don't usually scent them, but I do have a clover and apple scent I've been wanting to play with). I can also annoint and dress candles with TALs and herbs. Any interest? Olive oil or oatmeal and honey soaps sound nice, as do candles, and I'm fine with anointed candles as well (I dabble). I also grow herbs which can be culinary or magical. I'd be happy to prepare a smudge or dry some herbs for your enjoyment. I currently have oregano (yellow and standard), mugwort, thyme, sage (purple or garden), tea peppermint, chives, lovage, plantain, comfrey, raspberry leaf, and yarrow. I'm probably forgetting something. I wouldn't mind culinary herbs! Oregano, mugwort, sage, thyme, and peppermint would be good. I am not averse to the others... I'm just not super familiar with them! I also make salves! My go to in an arnica, calendula and comfrey mix for healing wounds or chapped skin. This can also be used on pet paws. We do have barely enough time that I could do a custom infusion. Haru loves treats. He has only had Orijen ones (original and tundra, I think). He is a little chonky, though (his annual check up this past weekend put him at 17 pounds... but he's not a small cat as far as his length/frame go). 9/13 What is your feelings on seasonal mugs? Yes or, no? Too many in your house or bring them on?? I am very picky with mugs. I have a lot of them, so I have to be strict with allowing more into my cupboard due to space. That said, there are a few that I have been eyeing: a Depeche Mode meme mug on my Etsy wishlist, the white pumpkin mug from Anthropologie, and this style of ghost mug (lots of places have their own versions of this -- I missed out on the most quality one that was either from Pottery Barn or Williams Sonoma, as they didn't have it in store. I would only be interested in a version with the ghost going and not a happy face ghost).

Do you have anything you use every day that you wouldnt mind getting more of? Nothing I can think of at the moment! Anything you love or need to have from Adagio or Rishi teas? No, thank you. I am anti-Adagio for the reasons Twi has specified in her wishlist. While I'm not against Rishi tea, there are much cheaper teas on my wishlist. Right now, I'm really loving August tea and would especially like to try their pumpkin Psychocandy one. It was too soon to say when I was filling out my questionnaire, but I recently finished the anime NANA and it has become one of my all time favorites. Krampusnacht: Answers to In-Thread Questions!

I leave for a ten-day trip to Paris and London in one week's time and I'd love to bring back a goody or two if my Naughty/Nice Puss has any requests! London: Jam from Tea and Tattle (tea room across from The British Museum), some sort of Mr. Kiplings slices (like angel slices or lemon slices or if there's some other flavor)
Paris: Mariage Frères tea, maybe some pâte de fruits since they would keep well?
Are you interested in an advent calendar? What kind? (Dog cookie, tea, chocolate, etc.) Tea, chocolate, or jam! (Although I just received several jars of jam in swaps, so maybe not the jam. ) Officially asking for your krampus preference, naughty children! Vintage Krampus or cat Krampus! Just not partially human-looking Krampus. Please nothing that just says "Vom Krampus" on it, though. If you take out the Gruß, it is no longer grammatically correct because the 'vom' is in the dative case and it needs the verb for that to happen. (I am only mentioning this because I did see things like that while looking for Krampus items last year, and I know German.) I hand-make light-weight hair falls, the kind that is NOT meant to look real, but more like doll (or Dolly) hair. I use stuff like recycled silk, ribbon yarn and the like to keep them extremely light-weight and pretty. Is this something you would like? If so, tell me your color preferences (the more options, the better!) plus any allergies I should know about (wool, alpaca, silk etc), and length. I would enjoy that! Since it's for Krampusnacht, maybe red, black, and grey? Or red, green, and black? Or variations of red with black? Normally, purple, black, and grey are my favorite colors. I currently have hair that's long enough to reach a few inches past my bra strap. I plan on letting it grow back to waist-length again, and I might dye it red sometime soon (but have been lazy). The problem is that I can't wear masks shaped like this because the bridge of my nose is small making it so that the mask won't stay on my face. There is a place near me that has some of the BEST coffee beans I've personally ever had- would you be interested in receiving a pound or half pound of beans? If so, do you prefer flavored (which ones?), full caffeinated - decaf - half and half?, whole bean or ground? Light or dark roast? Sadly, I can't drink coffee.  I like the taste, but my body can't handle it.
Also, how about a mug to go with it? If so, what's your mug style- oversized 90's coffeehouse? Tiny espresso demitasse? Ye Standard Coffee Cup? Name it! I like mugs but don't have a preference for size! The PBSW Weenie Collection just went live (minus lotions and candles which are delayed). Is there anything you're interested in? Any scents you'd like as lotions or candles when they come in? I already ordered this morning because I hadn't placed a summer order and wanted to grab a Pick-a-Duck candle and Fuzzy Scrumpit before the summer stuff sold out. While I ordered some for myself, one can never have too much Putney Road, and I almost ordered a Cathedral of Pumpkins soap, but restrained myself since I still have a mini scrub of it from last year. I've been waiting a month for The Man in the Moon wax melts to come back in stock, but alas. I enjoy their glycerin soaps and emulsifying sugar scrubs the most. Their lotions are too light for me, and I only use shower products. Urgent question! Would socks make you happy? If so: what size? And what about over the knee socks? Socks always make me happy! My foot size is 5.5 US, but I'll pretty much wear any sock, even if the part for the heel is going up my leg.  Knee highs are my favorite, but over-the-knee and thigh-highs are also nice. I will also wear ankle socks and crew socks. All socks are great! Do you like animals? Yes, I love animals! Any favorites? Cats, foxes, owls, rabbits, small birds, ravens, bats, squirrels, chipmunks, least weasel... I could go on and on! And would you like to receive a photo print of a photo I took myself? A smaller print would be appreciated, and I'd be happy to frame it myself. And what about photo printed postcards? Postcards are wonderful! One of my favorite stores sells perfumed hand-made hair rinse which I love myself. Would you be interested? I'd be interested as long as the scent isn't so strong that it would overpower any hair gloss I applied afterward. What are your book tastes? Do you have a goodreads? Hmm... give me your top three favorite books! I mostly enjoy fiction/sci-fi. My favorite authors include Lewis Carroll, A. A. Milne, and Douglas Adams. Some of my favorite books are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, The Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series (I also love the Dirk Gently series), Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, and Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus. Interested in Blackthorn Hoodoo Tea? Which blends? I currently have Go the **** to Sleep in my pantry. Mercury and Werewolves of London are two of my favorite teas from this company. I've never tried Samhain and would be interested in trying that. Holy Spirit Tea also sounds like it could be nice. I don't like rooibos or mate and dislike chocolate, hibiscus, licorice/anise/fennel, and berry-flavored teas. Do you like incense? If so, loose, cone, stick...? I don't dislike incense and have a little Pusheen incense holder dish, but incense always gets passed over for candles and wax melts. This year we've made apple butter, unsweetened apple sauce, canned sweet cherries, candied jalapenos... which, if any, of these would you welcome?
I would be down for everything except for the candied jalapenos! The apple butter and cherries sound particularly delicious. Would you be interested in any sort of large bag/purse/tote? If so any themes or colors? A large bag or tote would be great. I don't really use purses, though. My current bag is a Totoro one! I like black, grey, and purple and like goth-y or fandom-related stuff. I may have gone a little overboard on the nostalgia train and picked up a multitude of bottles from the cute 90s Gothic perfume company, Vampyre. I have three that can potentially be yours: Nocturnas (Sudanese Frankincense is Added to Exquisite Blackberry Essence in this Decadent Enveloping Blend) , Petra Musk ( Aged Red Musk, with it’s Woods, Spices and Musk Notes is Intensified with African Kush Oil,Imparting an Exotic Scent and Reddish Hue to this Elixir) and Blood & Roses (Three Types of the Darkest Rose Essence Dry Down into Rich Musk Bottom Notes in this Mysterious, Unexpectedly Romantic Scent). Alas, none of these sound like they'd be up my alley, note-wise.
Do you cook (or aspire to cook)? Is there any cooking-related gift that would bring you joy? Spices, ingredients, cookbook, gadgets, implements... I do cook and bake, although lately, I've mostly been using my InstantPot mini and toaster oven when I cook/bake, because it's so hot here. I could use some new potholders, a new spatula (one you flip things with, not one you mix things/scrape bowls with), an icing knife, and a dough/bench scraper to cut dough more evenly. For cookbooks, I mostly use recipes I find online from Minimalist Baker, Half Baked Harvest, Dessert for Two, and Sally's Baking Addiction, but I'd be interested in this little e-book of pumpkin recipes or one of Christina Lane's small batch dessert cookbooks (I already own Dinner for Two). I have been using the Indian Instant Pot Cookbook: Traditional Indian Dishes Made Easy and Fast by Urvashi Pitre a lot lately, with Aloo Gobi being my go-to recipe. Is there a BPAL GC bottle (or imps) you have been meaning to buy but haven't? Especially in light of the Tournament of Underdogs? What about TAL? The Tournament of the Underdogs makes me think I should pick up a bottle of How Doth the Little Crocodile to start aging. I used up my imps of Kumiho to scent laundry (it's a good scent to use on wool dryer balls), and I think I should probably just grab a bottle of that for that purpose even though I wouldn't wear it as a perfume when I have Baobhan Sith. GC bottles I have half a bottle or less of and have been meaning to add to orders gradually include Alice, Golden Priapus, Poisoned Apple, and Snake Oil (although I rarely wear the latter because I have so many snek variants). And Tombstone is a GC I love to have back-ups of to age like people do with Snake Oil. For TAL, decants would be best, but I'd love to try Bastet's Laughter and Healing. Are you interested in BPAL storage? Imps or bottles? Or small boxes or containers for other items?   I am always interested in BPAL storage! I have so many bottles that are sitting out that need proper storage. I usually like faux book boxes, but wooden boxes are also nice. I recently ordered two coffin shelves from Sourpuss Clothing to hold some of my bottles, and I'm waiting for those to arrive. Stuffies? Y/N If yes, preferences? Dearest Pumpkin, I harvested my own delicious Kentucky BlueMint back a few months and made a tincture with it, and it is now ready to pour! It can be used in drinks (like mojitos) and as a nice mint flavoring, but I use it medicinally, for tummy upset, digestion issues and other stuff. Would you like a bottle of your own? That sounds great! Do you have a preference for treat order? Smallest to largest, peaks and zeniths, ramping up to a grande finale, etc? Switch Witch Fall 2017 Q & A

Hi Witch! I'll try to keep this up to date, although I will likely get behind Monday - Wednesday due to classes.

I'm going to put new notes (that aren't answers to questions) in purple and leave them that way for a few days so they will be easier to find.

I'll also try not to edit my answers, but I did cave and find a fairy for all of the NYCC exclusives I was lusting after, so I put a strikethrough through that answer.

I have ordered bottles and decants of the scents I'm interested in from both Lilith updates. (I wish I had ordered decants of Do You Like Clowns? and Huntress now, though!)

I ordered bottles of my two must-have Weenies and decants of the Weenies I was interested in, but iffy on. I am currently sitting on my hands and not allowing myself to order the two items I'm lusting after from the Trading Post Weenie update.

Here is my Amazon Wish List. I used the universal wish list feature, so there are lots of non-Amazon items on there. I made it just to give an idea some of my interests and tried to include some Halloween-themed things.

I generally avoid looking at perfume oils from other companies as my BPAL addiction is so costly as it is. But I would be down for trying one of the whipped soaps, if you're a fan of them. Witches Cottage, Foxcroft, and Maine Moon whipped soaps could be interesting, although I'm not sure how Maine Moon would smell, because while I love dirt and root beer notes, I'm not sure how they would smell together.

Witchee, I have a small but awesome farmer's market by my house. They have a local honey stand (which also sells things made from local honey like Propolis tincture!); there's a small apothecary and she additionally makes soaps and hand-made, hand-poured scented candles; plus a guy that makes an array of BBQ and Hot Sauces. What kind of homemade cookies are your favorite? I have started making cookies with Ritter Sport chocolate pieces inside of them, and now chocolate chips seem inferior. I also like pumpkin chai sugar cookies, oatmeal cranberry cookies (no raisins), and shortbread cookies or any kind that would be good with tea.

Could you use a muscle rub? (We make ours on the lunar cycle and it has menthol, wintergreen, habanero, cayenne, olive oil, st. john's wort, arnica, beeswax, calendula, and ginger. It tingles. We call it "Thunder Butter". If you have really really super sensitive skin, I would recommend against it. And don't take a hot shower or open all of your pores before using it.) While it sounds great, it sounds like it wouldn't be for me due to my sensitive skin.

Interested in trying some of our rose petal (rose petals, sugar, everclear) or lavender vanilla bean (lavender, vanilla bean, vodka) liqueur? Lavender vanilla bean liqueur sounds interesting!

Want some honey from the bees on our property? Honey sounds good to me.

Would you like some homemade jam? I have blackberry, rose petal, strawberry rhubarb, peach, and cherry. I'd be down for some homemade jam.

How about some homemade candied jalapenos with garlic cloves? I have regular and with habanero. I don't think this kind would be for me.

It seems like there's a question about socks on the questionnaire, but I don't think it got down to this level: Do you wear them? Any particular style (crew length, knee high, anklet, boot, etc.) or fiber (wool, cotton, bamboo anything but wool, etc.) preference? I adore socks. Knee highs are the best or me, or thigh-highs. Ankle or crew length would also be fine, but I do not wear them as often because I mostly wear boots. Animal and Halloween-themed socks would be great! I have some of them on my wishlist already.

Do you prefer reading on Kindle or actual book? What kind of books do you like? Would you like to be surprised with a scary, classic, horror book? I prefer actual books. Horror is not mah jam. I like fiction, sci-fi, classics, and non-fiction. I'd really love the new author's preferred edition of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere!

Candles, Incense, or wax tarts? Do you have favorite brands or Weenies scents for the home? Would you like to receive a wax tarts burner, incense burner, essential oils diffuser, or Halloweenie themed candle holders? I like candles, but do not use wax tarts. I find putting BPTP bath oils in a wax warmer scents my place better than scented wax does. I do not like incense. My favorite teas are green, white, and herbal flavors (but generally not straight teas -- bits of non-berry fruits, flowers, and herbs are preferable, for instance, a green Earl Grey). I drink loose leaf tea and have a ton of tea gadgetry.

How would you feel about receiving a hand-painted container for your bpal and/or other treasures?
- would you want a big wood box (~50 bottles), a small wood box (~20 bottles) or a tin for carrying imps around?
That would be neat! All of those options sound nice, but a tin or some kind of case for carrying imps would probably be best. I've just been using the little goblin pouches from the Trading Post when I travel.

Who is into K-Beauty (Korean beauty products like sheet masks)
- What are your faves if you are?
- If you aren't would you like to try something?
I'm not sure what K-Beauty consists of, but I'd be up for trying something (as long as it is cruelty-free)!

What are some NEW things you've gotten interested in this year? Could be anything, from a new hobby, new genre of book, new healthy way of living, new fav brand of whatever...
I'm interested in baking with less sugar, and trying out new recipes in general has been something I've been enjoying this year. I haven't immersed myself in the world of comics yet, but that's another thing I would enjoy getting into -- I'm especially interested in reading the iZombie comics, since I like the show so much.

What are your feelings about Scooby Doo?
It's okay. There are lots of other cartoons that I enjoy a lot more.

How do you feel about indie makeup (read: loose eyeshadow, blush, highlighter)?
I like indie make-up, but I fear I have too much of it and don't wear it often enough. I don't use blush, but a new black, purple, or deep red eyeshadow would be nice.

I think the Boo Bees shirt is cute. I wear a size S in unisex shirts and a M in women's sizes, although unisex shirts are the safest way to ensure a shirt will fit me.
