notonboats Report post Posted yesterday at 02:45 AM Wondering if anyone can recommend violet or lilac scents that are currently available? Thanks! Share this post Link to post
Assimbya Report post Posted yesterday at 03:42 AM From the GC, Nocturne (deepest violet touched with lilac and tuberose) is a lovely violet and lilac scent, with a delicate, ethereal sensibility. I was frimped it recently and have been really enjoying it! If you're looking for both of these notes together, I think it would be a great choice. Veil (white sandalwood, lilac, gardenia, violet, orris, lavender and ylang ylang) also looks intriguing, in a similar vein, but I haven't had the chance to try that one yet. For lilac, I cannot say enough good things about Lorrainna from the Skull Maskerade collection (an early 19th-century Italian perfume dabbed on black satin and lace – magnolia blossoms, lilac, orris root, and ambergris accord), which has become an absolute favorite of mine. It's elegant, smooth, with clear, resounding floral notes (both lilac and a gorgeous magnolia) and a depth underneath from the ambergris and orris. Lilac is one of my favorite notes and this is one of my favorite bpals with it that I've tried. The Lilac Wood (ageless trees, everblooming flowers, brilliant grass, a flicker of fireflies, and soft shadows) is also beautiful - as the name suggests, it's a greener, woodier lilac note. And the duet Black Lilac & Black Tea is still up if you want a darker lilac! I don't wear a ton of violet, but my partner frequently wears Faustus (frankincense and cinnamon, darkened by violet), and it's gorgeous on him, a darkened, mysterious, spicy violet note. Thank you for the recs! I'm a bit clueless with florals but I've been looking into a gift for my mom who really enjoys both violet and lilac scents. Generally woody or incense-y scents aren't her bag so probably not Veil or Faustus- tho I do like woody or incense-y XD. (Faustus seems like I might really enjoy it!) Share this post Link to post

As a dedicated lover of florals, I am happy to help in this arena. Given this context, I would definitely suggest Lorrainna and/or Nocturne for your mother, which are both pretty pure florals; Lorrainna in particular is so special. If you try Faustus for yourself, I hope you enjoy it! Share this post Link to post
sunshinedaisybliss Report post Posted 17 hours ago (edited) Some suggestions for you (and seconding some already mentioned!) Veil: Soft and pretty (White sandalwood, lilac, gardenia, violet, orris, lavender and ylang ylang). Side note – I wouldn’t say Veil is woody at all – the sandalwood gives it a beautiful dusky softness but isn’t a “wood” smell. Le Serpent qui Danse: A sweet violet with lovely vanilla softness (Violet entwined with vanilla and gardenia). Nocturne: Deepest violet touched with lilac and tuberose. Les Fleurs du Mal: The rose in this is gorgeous together with the lilac and wisteria (A rose base, softened with lilac and wisteria). Marie: A blend of sinuous violet and elegant tea rose. Faith, from the Carnaval Diabolique collection, (sugared violets) is lovely but not available in imp form – you could probably find a decant of it here on the forum though. The Lilac Wood, from The Last Unicorn collection – also not available in imp form, but you could probably find a decant. Elf: Pale golden musk, honeycomb, amber, parma violet, hawthorne bark, aspen leaf, forest lily, life everlasting, white moss, and a hint of wild berry. You can also use the search on blackphoenixalchemylab.com to find specific notes – it will bring up *everything* containing the word, including things that are no longer available, so you have to do a bit of scrolling to get through the search results but it’s a good way to find things 🙂 Edited 17 hours ago by sunshinedaisybliss Fixing typos! Failmingo Report post Posted 15 hours ago I've never had luck with violet scents, but The Abandonment of the Unicorn (a recent Girth of Venus release) is so gentle and ethereal that I keep reaching for it. I'm addicted to Snow Whitechapel, which is the "snowy" version of the totally wonderful Whitechapel GC fragrance which probably also got me interested in white musk. The Lightning Moon duet Black Lilac & Black Tea is a pretty straightforward and simple moody lilac scent that I'll probably be enjoying for some time. Share this post Link to post
