doomsday_disco Report post Posted April 25 A chorus of moonflower, princess of the night, woodland tobacco petals, white gardenia, narcissus, cashmere wood, green apple, and datura alight with a maestoso gust of incandescent incense smoke. valpal Report post Posted June 10 (edited) Okay, I’m not the best at writing perfume reviews, so take this with a grain of salt..your nose might pick up something totally different. In the bottle: Bright green apple shampoo vibes right off the bat. It’s juicy and a little tart. Wet on skin: Still very much green apple-forward, but now softened by a subtle musk. I’m not getting the "incandescent incense smoke" as described, but I suspect that note is blending into the muskiness I’m picking up. Overall, it feels like a dreamy light, floaty, fruity scent. For those wondering, it’s not similar to Zorya P. Dry down: The white gardenia starts to peek through, and the scent shifts into something a bit more pinkish floral and fruity (even though the notes are predominantly white florals). It actually reminds me a little of The Pearl..that same fruity-tart-sweet combination. As it continues to settle, more musk comes forward and gives the scent a soft, hazy finish. I blind bought a full size and I’m so glad I did since this one really worked for me. It's fun, dreamy, and beautifully blended. If you’re into fruit-forward florals with a musky base, definitely worth checking out! Edited June 10 by valpal
auraysu Report post Posted June 17 I love the Ars Anni line, and most of my BPAL collection are LEs that are conceptually interesting to me. When I saw this released, I bought it because I fell in love with the painting, notes be damned! Well: it's rather grape-y to me. Some white florals can read grapey to some noses because of certain aromachems (MA, I believe!), and I think that's what's happening here. It's mainly soft grapey white florals, with an undercurrent of soft and hazy incense smoke. I detect a hint of green apple, but it's very muted and I suspect it's because of how the white florals perform for me. This does not read as a purple smell, fwiw- it is a hazy, luminescent whitish scent. Pretty! I don't dislike the grape-iness of it and it's a lightly tart, floral haze drifting with a soft white cloud of incense smoke.

I actually rushed to go test this because of @auraysu's review, since I have been exploring a newfound fondness for grapey scents (officially declared or otherwise). I dunno if my mind would've gone there without reading this, but it did now! I can track the Lab's moonflower and datura notes (the latter being a bit purpley), tempered here by the woods and incense smoke. It's reminding me of old school GC dark florals like The Caterpillar and Death Cap, sweetened up with apple in a way that keeps the drama of the other notes from skewing too heavy or tragic. Very apt transliteration of the painting!
