    Tanuki

In bottle/imp: Melon and plum, with a touch of sweet orange and sweet florals. Immediately on skin: This is a sweet, fun, fruity scent. It smells like melon and plum mixed together with an undertone of sweet floral notes. It’s airy and not syrupy… the flowers do a good job of keeping this from being too sweet. This scent is very juicy, refreshing and fun. After a few minutes: This has softened up and blended together quite nicely on my skin. The main feel of it is still fruity, with a lingering feel of melon (the bamboo combining with the black pine and other notes perhaps?) and plum. The persimmon is lending a sugary note that is fun and playful, and there’s a subtle base of wisteria and cherry blossoms. I would describe this upon drydown as a fruity, fresh melon and plum scent with a hint of sweet blossoming flowers. Later on: This softens up as time goes on. It just blends into my skin and the melon note dies down to a soft fruitiness and I am no longer able to pick out any particular notes. Overall Impressions: This is a nicely balanced blend. It’s fruity, sweet, and floral, but not overly so of any of those. Even though melon isn’t listed, I can smell it as a note and the plum as well (more so the fruit than the flower). There’s a softness about it; it’s not like fruit syrup, but like a watery nectar of all these things put together. The flowers in this aren’t overpowering and just add a nice base to the scent.

    Sea of Tranquility

In bottle/imp: Sweet and very fruity cool floral. Immediately on skin: This scent smells sparkly, if that makes any sense. It smells dynamic and pretty. The lotus is the most identifiable note, and it is mixed with a more bitter floral (the poppy?). The blend is fruity, floral and sparkly (I would say it smells silver to me) with a slightly bitter undertone of poppy and a base of very chilly amber. After a few minutes: This blend is very interesting… It has developed a spicy feel to it now, which really blends nicely with the cooler notes. It’s probably the white sandalwood, though the other notes are still coming through nicely. This is well blended, and everything is working together. It’s very difficult to pick out the notes other than the lotus and poppy; the scent is just a very pretty, cool fruity floral with hints of bitter poppy and a warm spiciness sprinkled throughout. Later on: The bitterness of the poppy has really receded, and the blend is just pretty, soft, cool, and spicy. It’s hard to describe how it manages to be warm, yet cool at the same time, but the combination of the sandalwood, lotus, and white amber are just that. Overall Impressions: This is a very pretty blend. It’s not overly strong, or fruity, or floral. It’s just soft, cool, with a nice hint of spice from the sandalwood. The lotus and poppy are identifiable, and the amber adds a nice dry, chilly base to the scent, but this is just beautifully blended. It really is a sparkling scent… not in a champagne or bubbly type way, but it just is.

    Hony Mone

In bottle/imp: Sweet figs with a light nuttiness and a floral undertone. Immediately on skin: Though I expect them to be the strongest note, the honeys aren’t loud in this blend (at least, not yet). It’s a nutty, creamy, floral and very sweet scent. I can pick out the almond, fig, carnation, jasmine, and tonka, but they are all blended together to create a very decadent scent. The combination of the fig, almond, and jasmine is very interesting and surprisingly pretty. The honey is there, but it’s not strong. Instead, it’s drizzled lightly over everything else, smoothing out all of the notes and balancing the blend. After a few minutes: Jasmine… lots and lots of heavy jasmine. Usually I love this note, but the lab’s jasmine is somewhat bitter on me. There are still other notes fluttering about in this: the sweetness of the honey, the creamy warmth of the fig, a light fruitiness from the apricot, and a touch of tonka and almond. They all blend nicely, and what has developed on my skin is a creamy, sweet, and slightly nutty and fruity jasmine scent. Later on: After a couple of hours, a coolness comes over this blend very reminiscent of Oval Portrait. But it’s still heavy on the jasmine on my skin, and light on the other notes. Overall Impressions: I was expecting “OMG HONEY” from this, and that’s not what I get, but it is a very unique blend. It has a lot going on, and the notes are well blended, but the jasmine stands out most of all on my skin. It’s sweet, but not overly so, and the honey isn’t very strong for those afraid of it. But if you’re afraid of jasmine, I hope this doesn’t morph the same way on you as it does on me. As I stated earlier, I would describe this as a creamy, sweet, and slightly nutty and fruity jasmine scent that develops a cooler feel after a couple of hours of wearing.

    Mechanical Phoenix

In bottle/imp: Ozone, sharp musk, and citrus. Immediately on skin: This is a sharp scent, and IMO very masculine. It’s very metallic with a lot of ozone going on and a citrus type feel to it. It smells like men’s cologne, just very refined and strong. It’s wonderfully blended. It almost reminds me of a sharper and stronger version of Door 13. It’s a sharp, cold metallic ozone scent with a clean edge to it. After a few minutes: Ah, now I get the “Mechanical” part of this blend. After wearing this for an hour or so, there’s an oily scent that comes out. It blends with the metallic ozone in a way that really does remind me of gears and metal. It’s not as sharp anymore, and the oily note has softened up the blend. It still has a cleaner, masculine cologne type of feel though. Overall Impressions: Though this blend brings pictures of oily, shined metal to mind, it really seems to be a wearable blend. It smells strongly of ozone to me, with a metallic feel and an oily undertone. It is masculine to unisex, but I could see how this could morph to be slightly more feminine on some. It’s not my personal taste, but I could see both men and women wearing this. If I had to compare this to an existing blend, it would be that it’s a stronger, sharper version of Door 13, plus that oily undertone (and a little less citrus and more ozone). It’s an imaginative blend for sure!

    Fairy Wine

In bottle/imp: Tangy, green berry honey. Immediately on skin: I get a lot of sweet berry from this at first, but it’s not really currant. It’s rather tangy and green. It smells like a drink though… not like wine really, but something bubbly and nose-tickling. This is extremely well blended, and I really can’t pick out any of the individual notes. After a few minutes: This scent has really bloomed nicely on my skin. The honey has come out but it’s not overly sweet and it blends with a subtle green floral note and currants. It now smells exactly like I would have guessed from the description. Overall Impressions: This is such a lovely scent… it smells like something you’d really drink, whipped up by a forest-dwelling bartender. It’s sweet but a little floral, green and fruity, with a nice bit of honey stirred in. It’s very pretty and refreshing.

    Blood Phoenix

In bottle/imp: Grapes, almonds, and sweet musk. Immediately on skin: I was expecting this to smell like other blends from the reviews, but it’s holding its own. It is grape at first… like wine, not grape candy. It’s sweetened up by the myrrh and almond and there’s a nice musk base to it. This blend is very complex… there’s a touch of florals as well. The dragon’s blood resin just sits on top of everything, soaking into the other notes. After a few minutes: This blend has gotten even sweeter. It’s a sweet and slightly tart grape scent with perfume-y dragon’s blood, myrrh, and just a hint of florals. The almond has all but disappeared. Overall Impressions: I have bad experiences with blends containing red musk, but this one is very nice on me. The grape is there, but controlled, and the dragon’s blood is sweet and rich. The myrrh and florals blend in nicely, adding depth to the blend. I didn’t think I’d like this, but I do!

    White Phoenix

In bottle/imp: Sweet flowers and perfume-y musk. Immediately on skin: Sweet flowers and soft, warm musk. It’s sweet and very pretty. The frangipani, crystal musk, and white sandalwood are the most identifiable notes but the scent is very complex and well blended. After a few minutes: This blend has morphed into mostly sandalwood with a bit of cold musk and sweet floral notes. It’s a sweet scent, but it has a lot going on. There are a lot of floral notes in this, and they blend together nicely and no one overshadows the others. It has a slight “clean” feel to it, but it’s not a crisp or refreshing scent… it’s more like a warm and comforting clean scent. Overall Impressions: This is a floral blend for sure, but it’s not just a floral blend. The sandalwood and musks blend in nicely, making it warm and complex. There are a lot of different flowers, but they all play together nicely. It’s sweet, but not overly so, and feminine.

    Green Phoenix

In bottle/imp: Cucumber, tea, and mint. Immediately on skin: Grass, cucumber, and tea with a slightly bitter herbal note (the sage and amber together, perhaps?). It’s slightly fruity, but not overly sweet. It’s very cool and refreshing. After a few minutes: The bitter note is completely gone, and now this scent is very mild, cool, and slightly green and fruity. It’s definitely a tea scent with hints of mint, papaya, and cucumber. The musk is very subtle and blends beautifully. Overall Impressions: I really enjoy the lab’s tea scents, and I adore this one. It’s very cool and crisp… this would be a great scent to wear on a hot day! The touches of fruity papaya pulp and cucumber add to the refreshing feel, and the musk makes it very wearable.

    The Oval Portrait

In bottle/imp: Sweet musk with florals and an aquatic undertone. Immediately on skin: Right out of the bottle and wet on my skin, this smells like the air in a museum I used to go to as a child. It’s a very lofty scent with cool floral notes and sweet vanilla musk. It has an aquatic feel to it as well. After a few minutes: So pretty and cool! This has a lot of floral notes in it, but they are very distinctive. The carnation and bluebonnet are the main flowers, with the honeysuckle and lily coming in behind. The florals are STRONG, but the vanilla musk blends in nicely. It is slightly powdery, but in a very fresh way. Overall Impressions: This is a very pretty, feminine floral scent. The flowers are very strong in this, and almost sharp and powdery. But the vanilla musk blends in nicely and sweetens it just enough to make it very intoxicating. This blend is gorgeous… no wonder it sold out first!

    The Masque

DD version In bottle/imp: Bitter resin, patchouli, and light spices. Immediately on skin: This is very sharp. It smells like white flowers and some bitter resin melded together. It’s a bit powdery as well. There’s no sweetness to this right now whatsoever. After a few minutes: This has sweetened up a little and now there’s honey drizzled over the whole blend. It smells like honey and incense, with light spices and an earthy base of patchouli. The whole blend has a bitter feel to it though which the honey has not gotten rid of. Overall Impressions: All of the notes listed made me think this would be a complex warm sweet floral with an earthy base, but what it is in actuality is a very earthy scent with light overtones of honey, incense, and spice. It’s nice, but not what I was expecting.
  11. Delirium1009

    November

In bottle/imp: Pine, ozone, and a frosty, cold cologne-like note. Immediately on skin: I get a lot of pine from this blend, and a very masculine cologne-like note underneath. It’s a very chilly, cold, crisp scent. After a few minutes: The pine has faded a bit, but this blend smells very unisex on me. It’s clean, crisp, and chilly. It’s hard for me to identify any notes, but there is a dry leaf feel to this, as well as cold ozone. Overall Impressions: This scent is dry but icy at the same time. It’s more on the unisex side, but it is really perfect for a November scent.
  12. Delirium1009

    Noche Buena

In bottle/imp: Sweet flowers, including plumeria, and a touch of herbs. Immediately on skin: The flowers in this are the strongest… plumeria and tuberose stand out, but there are definitely other floral notes in there too. This blend is on the cooler, and maybe even aquatic, side. It has the slightest herbal scent to it, but the blend is overall sweet and very feminine. After a few minutes: There’s a sweet smokiness over the whole blend now, but it’s light and very fragrant incense. The floral notes are still very strong and sweet with the plumeria and tuberose coming out the most. The tiger lily is also noticeable, but it hasn’t gone soapy on me like most lily notes do. Overall, right now this blend is sweet with lots of flowers, a touch of slight fruitiness, and soft incense smoke. Overall Impressions: This is a lovely, sweet, complex floral. The floral notes are blended together well though. There’s enough of an incense feel to make this blend not just “another floral blend” and a fruity, bright, sweet feel to it.
  13. Delirium1009

    Madeline

In bottle/imp: Light, girly rose and tea. Immediately on skin: Roses and tea. It’s very fresh and lovely. There’s a lot of “fresh floral” to this scent… the lily is poking its head in a little. There’s also a hint of sweet resin and a green note, but it’s very light. After a few minutes: This scent has lightened up a bit, but it’s still a pretty rose tea scent. It’s very feminine and haunting. The resin and ivy are still there, but they’ve gotten more subtle as well. Overall Impressions: This blend is dominated by the white rose, but it’s soft, feminine, and fresh rose… nothing overpowering at all. It’s a very fresh scent with a bit of refreshing tea in it, as if you were sipping iced rose white tea. There’s enough of a hint of the myrrh and wilted ivy to make it a bit more complex, but not enough to change the feel of the blend.

    Jólasveinar

07 version In bottle/imp: Pine and a slight hint of baked goods. Immediately on skin: There’s a foodie note in this that comes to the front of the blend and wafts quite a bit. But there’s also a cold feel to the blend… and quite a bit of pine. There are some flowers in there too. Boy, this scent is really complex and busy! After a few minutes: This scent is… interesting. There’s just so much going on that it’s hard to really describe it, but I’ll do my best! There’s a brown sugar/maple syrup feel that I get first upon sniffing, then a bit of pine or moss, a touch of flowers, and a bit of cold ozone. It doesn’t all really mesh together on me to create one scent. I can smell each of those things individually on my skin. Overall Impressions: This scent has a lot going on. It’s interesting, but I don’t think the notes all work together well. When I sniff it, it’s like I dotted three or four different scents on and I’m trying to smell them all together, but they just refuse to mesh.

    The Haunted Palace

In bottle/imp: Very sweet with rose, amber, and a touch of vanilla. Immediately on skin: This is sweet and floral, with the rose coming out the strongest and melding with the amber and vanilla. There’s a bit of sweet muskiness. This blend reminds me a bit of Red Moon 2007 plus rose. After a few minutes: This is still going strong, and it’s very sweet. I can smell the rose, amber, vanilla, and red musk all melding together. It’s still very reminiscent of Red Moon 2007, but it seems to have a fruitiness to it almost like plum. The rose is still the dominant note, but everything is blended together nicely. It’s a creamy, musky, floral scent with a lot of sweetness. Overall Impressions: This scent is very well blended, and is very warm and sweet. The rose isn’t overpowering at all, but is the most recognizable dominant note to me. All of the other notes mesh together to create something sweet, floral, creamy, and musky. This is very reminiscent of Red Moon 07 on me though, so if you didn’t like that blend, you might want to avoid this one.

    Diwali

In bottle/imp: Slightly spicy and floral mango. Immediately on skin: This scent is a little fruity, but also creamy and slightly spiced. The most evident note is the mango, but it’s a light, fresh mango... not syrupy sweet. I also get some of the spices, but no one spice note stands out above the others. The spice is extremely subtle and slightly warms up the scent. There’s a light nuttiness and a bit of warmth from the sandalwood. After a few minutes: This is a very nice fruity floral scent. The mango is still the predominant note, but it has mixed in a bit more with everything else. The almond milk seems to make this slightly creamy, and the spices are light and pretty. There is a slight smokiness to this from the incense now as well, but it’s very subtle. This scent is so well blended… everything works together nicely. Overall Impressions: This scent is a lot more perfume-y and pretty than I was expecting (I fully expected it to be rather foodie and spicy). It’s fruity in a bright, fresh way, with slight touches of spices, soft flowers, and a hint of creaminess. It’s a little warm and a little crisp, and very pretty.
  17. Delirium1009

    Archangel Winter

In bottle/imp: Crisp, clean, and cold. Immediately on skin: There are floral notes in this, but they’re hard to identify. They’re definitely white flowers though and have a soft, sweet, and feminine feel. There’s also a lot of cold ozone in this blend. This scent is a little bit salty as well, but it is a very icy, cold scent. The saltiness and flowers meld together nicely. It’s very airy as well. After a few minutes: Right now this is very ozone-y with light florals and a metallic saltiness. The blend has also gotten a bit sweeter. The flowers have settled down a bit and the ozone has come forward a bit more. It has changed from what I’d consider to be a feminine blend to something much more unisex. It has a slight metallic saltiness that reminds me of the note I always considered to be the mailbox in Egg’d Mailbox. Overall Impressions: This is a very interesting scent. The ozone is very atmospheric and strong in this, and it has a winter-y feel to it. It’s slightly salty and metallic, as if I were sniffing air charged by a recent lightning strike. There is an icy, cold feel to this though that makes it unique. The flowers, which were evident at first, faded fast and I could see a man or a woman wearing this.
  18. Delirium1009

    Angeronalia

In bottle/imp: Strong white flowers and sharp citrus. Immediately on skin: This is a very crisp, clean, sharp scent. Right away, I’m getting the lemongrass and gardenia, plus a touch of softer, sweeter citrus. There’s a slight earthiness to it, and a smooth quality, probably from the olive blossom and patchouli. After a few minutes: This is turning a bit soapy on me. The flowers have become a bit stronger and the sharp citrus notes have calmed down a bit. This is still a very clean scent though with almost a freshly-washed laundry type of feel to it. There’s a hint of sweet orange or nectarine, and a small bit of patchouli. Overall Impressions: This is a very crisp, white floral with a touch of citrus and earthiness. It’s a rather cool scent, and pretty. It’s very soft, and seems very wearable.
  19. Delirium1009

    The Snow Storm

In bottle/imp: Mint and pine. Immediately on skin: Strong mint and pine with a sweet floral or fruit note in the background. It’s very bright, strong, and crisp. After a few minutes: This has sweetened quite a bit. Now there’s a berry-like note in the blend that I’m really enjoying! It might be the aconite if the lab used the flower of the plant, but it smells sweeter than a floral note would be. The pine has settled and is merging nicely with the sweetness, and the mint has all but disappeared. Overall Impressions: I was very surprised by the drydown of this scent. I expected strong mint and pine and that’s it, but there’s also a very lovely sweet note in this that makes the blend a lot less harsh and very pretty to me.
  20. Delirium1009

    The Shivering Boy

In bottle/imp: Sharp ozone, men’s soap, and a lot of resin. Immediately on skin: This smells of Irish Spring soap on me: a bit of pine, a lot of ozone, and a hint of resin. There’s something fruity underneath everything, but it’s very faint. After a few minutes: Ok, now this smells a little better… the sharpness has died down a bit. It’s still heavy on the ozone, with a hint of pine and something sweet underneath… wine grapes, I think. It no longer smells of men’s soap… now it smells like a holiday candle. It’s very crisp and cold with a bit of resin, some pine, and that sweet fruit note peeking through. Overall Impressions: I wish this one loved me… I really do. On my skin, this is just generic winter scented candle smell. It’s cold, crisp, and lonely, with a hint of sweet fruitiness underneath the cold abyss of the rest of the scent.
  21. Delirium1009

    Shanghai Tunnel

In bottle/imp: Woody, green, and mossy. Immediately on skin: This smells… damp. There’s mossy wood, pine, and a bit of cedar as well. There’s something fruity underneath as well, but I can’t identify it. After a few minutes: There’s something in this that reminds me of strong BO. The pine and cedar are still dominating, but that icky scent is underneath. This is very strong though and seems to have quite a throw. Overall Impressions: This scent is dominated by wood notes, but it’s more complex than that. It’s damp, dark, and filled with cedar, pine, and moss. There’s nothing sweet about this, and in my opinion it’s more on the masculine side. The name is perfect for this scent, but it’s just not for me.
  22. Delirium1009

    Mistletoe

2007 version In bottle/imp: Very green and almost pine-like. Immediately on skin: This is a very green plant scent. It has a pine or evergreen feel to it. It’s very crisp and sharp and a bit astringent. After a few minutes: This has faded a lot. The sharpness has gone away quite a bit, but the scent is still very pine-like and crisp and green. Overall Impressions: I don’t enjoy scents that are sharp and very green, and this one is really no exception. But if you enjoy crisp green blends, you should try Mistletoe for sure.
  23. Delirium1009

    Lydia

In bottle/imp: Sharp, powdery flowers. Immediately on skin: This scent is very green, with some sharp florals blended in. Jasmine, for sure, but maybe some other flowers as well. After a few minutes: The green notes have calmed, and the jasmine has bloomed into something a bit sweeter. But it’s still jasmine-dominated. This has lightened up considerably as I wore it, so now it’s just a hint as opposed to OMG JASMINE. Overall Impressions: If you like jasmine, try this. If you hate jasmine, stay far, far away. This has a little extra thrown in, but not much. It’s nice, but nothing special in my opinion.
  24. Delirium1009

    La Befana

In bottle/imp: Powdery, sweet flowers, caramel, and a light hint of cake. Immediately on skin: I’m enjoying this scent… it’s a bit foodie for sure, but at the same time, it’s pefume-y. There’s caramel, as well as something powdery and sweet. I smell a very light cake note, and something that smells a lot like currants or berries. The violet is in there too, adding such a pretty feel to the entire blend. This reminds me a lot of Crumpet Rebellion, which is wonderful. After a few minutes: This is a thick, sweet scent with a powdery undertone. It’s a tiny bit floral, but the caramel and candy are definitely the stars in this blend. The cake has faded a bit, but the currant/berry note I got earlier has gotten a bit stronger. It smells like thick, sweet caramel and fruit syrup poured over faint vanilla cake with a bowl of candy charcoal and candied violets close by. It’s very pretty without being too foodie. Overall Impressions: This is a rich, complex, delicious scent. There is just so much going on in it, but it is beautifully blended. The caramel and fruit combine to make this rich syrupy note, while the candy charcoal and chimney dust add a soft sense to the blend. There’s a cake note in there, hidden behind the syrup and powdery candy, and the violet peeks through playfully as well. This blend is so hard to describe because there’s lots going on, but it’s really pretty and reminds me so much of the yumminess that is Crumpet Rebellion. This morphs into a really nice right currant or berry note, and lingers for hours. It’s complex, sweet, beautifully blended, and one of my favorites of the Yule blends.
  25. Delirium1009

    Krampus

2007 version In bottle/imp: Dry, dusty wood and leather. Immediately on skin: This is a very dry, dusty scent. It’s very sinister and has a dark feel to it. I can smell the wood and the leather very strongly. The musk adds a slight dry sweetness to the blend. After a few minutes: This hasn’t morphed much… it’s still very dry with the leather and wood coming out the most, and the red musk in the background. It smells like a well-worn leather jacket to me. Overall Impressions: This scent was exactly what I was expecting: dry, dusty wood and leather. It’s a more masculine scent, but it could definitely be worn by both men and women. It’s just a perfect blend for its name and description.
