    Grog

In the imp: butterscotch Wet: butterscotch but rum is starting to peek through Dry: Rum and play doh. What a combination. And I have a hearing to conduct this morning. *yeesh*

    Hymn to Proserpine

Two words: Bug spray I don't know what it is in here that I hate so much. I do not recognize particular notes so I have no idea what it is about this that just makes me want to rip my nose off and mouth breathe for awhile. I literally had to scrub my arms to get the scent off and still it lingered... Kill me now. There's a paralegal who attends hearings that I conduct- I have had to ask him to refrain from cologne use because he smells like bug spray and I can not stand to be in the same room with him. Can it be that he's been wearing Hymn to Proserpine... hmmm...

    High John the Conqueror

In the imp: Grassy Wet: Herbs and grass. Fresh hay. Dry: Spicy herbs. I could have sworn I got a whiff of cinnamon. Definitely not something I would wear for scent's sake but if this works its magic, then I will be getting a bottle.

    Fruitcake

My only experience with fruitcake was one bite of one slice many years ago. I bit into the bitterest lump of unidentifiable candied something and that was all she wrote. I have not even entertained the thought to giving it another shot since that time (and that was in the 60's). So it was with great trepidation and no small amount of paranoia that I broke down and tried my imp of Fruitcake this morning. One dab on my wrist and one on the crook of my elbow. In the imp: Candied fruit- I detect buttery almond too. Wet: Sniff the pulse point of the old wristeroo and WHOA... I could get tipsy- I smell BOOZE!!!! Dry: (wrist) Smells like a very heavy wet slice of cake. Brandy, butter, ick. Those bitter pieces of fruit are waiting to attack. I feel it. (crook of elbow) If my wrist smelled like the inside of my elbow does, I would eat my arm. BOY, is it different! It's apple chunks, cherry and almond swimming in brandy. Heavenly. ETA: Update on elbow. Several hours later, my elbow smells just like my wrist. I cry. I mourn. No more apple/cherry/almond brandy. Just ick.

    Haunted

Mmmmm... this is exquisite. In the imp and wet, the most excellent amber caresses my nose and makes me sigh. Dry: Amber is my love and musk is a close second. This scent is husky voiced sexy.

    Grandmother of Ghosts

In the imp: The florals are the primary note to my nose in this one Wet: Interestingly, now I am picking up wood. I imagine a dark forest, the breeze whispering in the tree branches. Dry: Boo, hiss... powdery. It's just gone to dusting powder, the kind my grandmother used. Oh well.

    Fairy Wine

I have to agree with Esmeria- if gold had a scent, this would be it. In the imp: tartly sweet red currants with a touch of deep golden honey Wet: Honey becoming more pronounced Dry: Honey is still the primary note that I am sniffing... I suppose the dandelion is right in there too. Fairy Wine is warm and sunny and just plain fluffy. I love it.

The High Priest Not To Be Described

In the imp: cinnamon and spice (mmmm...) Wet: the cinnamon calms a bit and incense is coming to the foreground. Dry: It's a delicious incense and musk. I LOVE this scent, I just wish it was a bit stronger- it has faded way too quickly.

    Florence

Damn damn damn. Just when I thought I had already found MY scent, I try another of Beth's wonderful concoctions. Florence does spectactular things on my skin. It starts out very amber-y (and that's a good thing for me) and then it slowly morphs into a deliciously sweet and spicy blend. It is one of my favorites now.

    The Great Sword of War

I do believe that the Great Sword of War is going to be in my top 10. What an inviting fragrance this is. In the imp: Musk and tonka. OK, so far so good. Wet: Smells very foody- I couldn't put my finger on it at first, just kept thinking it was something very familiar. Then it hits: Chocolate orange. Godiva has several pieces of dark chocolate with orange cream. How did they manage to bottle it? Dry: The chocolate fades and orange, musk and something else that I can't identify. But the overall combination is warm yet commanding. I feel like I could accomplish most anything. *le sigh* another one to be ordered by the case...

    Bewitched

Deep, luscious green and berry scents that evoke images of woodland witchcraft and the raw power of nature: blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk. In the imp: I really smell sage and berries. Reminds me of a candy from my childhood. Wet: Berry scent with sage in the background. Dry: A deep musk with berries. Beautiful!!! I love this and will be buying a vat.

    All Souls

All Souls 2006 In the imp and wet: Corn meal. I smell tamales and tacos. Dry: Thankfully, the Mexican restaurant evaporates. What is left is sweet incense with an underlayer of angel food cake. If you can get past the initial corn meal... YUM.

    Blood Lotus

In the imp: Pink bubble gum Wet: Bubble gum and red safety suckers (sweet sweet sweet) Dry: Fades too quickly but the sweet gives way to spicy warmth and the result is just gorgeous. I wish it lasted longer.

    Ave Maria Gratia Plena

In the imp: Lilies and sandalwood Wet: The sandalwood is a little more pronounced and I am picking up orris. Dry: White flowers- jasmine and lilies, with sandalwood and a touch of powder. It is beautiful, but I think it might nauseate me if I slather. This is a dabbing only scent. ETA: Several hours later the powder is gone and I am left with the most delicate and beautiful floral and sandalwood blend. LOVE LOVE LOVE

    The Bloody Sword

In the imp: Dragon's Blood, sweet and fiery. I am already in love. Wet: Ooh, I am picking up myrrh now- this is really interesting. Dry: Now black pepper is in the foreground, with a fiery sweetness right behind it. This is a warm and lovely scent.

    Al Azif

I had such high hopes for you, Al-Azif. In the imp: maple syrup, the kind you get in Vermont that is not as processed as the grocery-store-bought variety. Wet: Uh oh. Did someone just sprinkle cedar shavings on my syrup? Dry: Here I go again... HAMSTER CAGE. Can you say Ick? I knew that you could.

    Azathoth

In the imp: Grassy. Wet: Oh, joy. I smell like hay. Dry: What is it with me and cedar? Was I a hamster in a past life? I smell like HAMSTER CAGE!!!

    Delousing Powder

I am SO disappointed! This stuff in my imp can't possibly be Delousing Powder. Everyone says it is heavenly and wonderful. I got zip. And a headache. It had such potential, too! In the imp: reminds me of some sort of candy- I am picking up sugar and tart. Wet: Creamy candy continuing. Dry: BUG SPRAY!!! What the hell happened? The sweet has turned vicious and has such a razor sharp edge that it is painful! I really wish I knew the ingredients, because the something in this that has turned to Raid gives me a headache and makes me nauseous. It's like someone keeps smacking me in the head. Will NOT be keeping this.

    Dragon's Reverie

Love love love. This one starts out sweet and sharp, drying down to a sexy warm purr of a scent. I think amber is one of my all time favorite notes and the amber in this is right up in front, blowing kisses.

    Alecto

It must be the cedar and vetiver. In the imp and wet: I smell erasers and the way your paper smells after you've erased those math calculations for the 5th time... Dry: I must have had to sharpen the pencil because all I smell is pencil shavings now. There's a little sweetness in the background but it's not enough to overcome the ick. I had such high hopes for this one too. *sigh*

    Dana O'Shee

Another interesting scent, to say the least. In the imp: Cherry Almond, almost reminds me of the lollipops I used to get in the pediatrician's office. Wet: Play-doh. I smell Play-doh here. OK, so we're continuing on the childhood theme. Dry: It's gone to baby powder now. Pleasant. Perhaps this one will be good for layering with something else.

    Anathema

I am loving all the different interpretations of this scent and how it shifts to something a little different on every person. For me, it is light and floral in the imp. Wet: I smell incense now, with a hint of vetivert. Dry: Powdery incense, pleasant but not terribly strong. I am not sure where the honeysuckle went but I don't think it was anywhere near my imp of Anathema. Still, a winner.

    Blood Kiss

Absoflippinglutely gorgeous!!! In the imp: Sweet cherry and wine. Wet: Vanilla and cherry now. The wine is fading. I don't detect the vetiver or clove. Dry: The vanilla and cherry keep the fragrance sweet. There is a hint of spice, but only the briefest of hints. It is just beautifully sweet without being cloying. A Favorite!!!

    The Mock Turtle's Lessons

Huh. This started out light and apple-y. It had a small burst of scent when first applied (and I SLATHERED). It was fruity and smelled so very clean. Then it dried and disappeared. I can barely detect anything on my wrist and what I do detect is apple. But just barely. Such a shame, too because I would probably love this if I could smell it.

    Caliban

An interesting scent, to say the least. In the imp: Very green- I smell grass, freshly cut. Wet: Goodness, now it's very fresh, sweet with a hint of saltiness. I don't detect any wine. Dry: It's gone straight to powdery soap. Porcelina mentioned Tide detergent. I'm thinking that too. Oh, well.
