    Angelica Root

struggling to articulate anything different than what is already in the description: "sharp green opening ✅ that quickly settles into dry soil ✅, resin, and a faint sweetness ✅ reminiscent of sap and old wood. There is a subtle heat to it, peppery ✅ without being hot, and a clean bitterness ✅ that reads as clarifying rather than harsh." not really a scent that projects much, but still has its own sort of presence.

    Sappho

"O lady, my heart" indeed! she really had me at rose resin, but every single other note enhances and complements it perfectly. not too much of any one thing: touch of fig, sprig of thyme, dab of orris, drop of olive, smudge of myrrh. to the point that it's almost not a rose scent, it's a poem. soft and subtle and lovely.

    Harry Clarke

I wanted to try all the new Inspiration category scents so I just snagged imps of each one. I don't always love red musk or orangey scents tho, so I wasn't anticipating swooning so hard for this! it reminds me of a shunga from 2024 that I love (Hallway of a Train Station) but the sparkling mandarin takes the place of lilac cologne, making it sufficiently different to covet, slightly more summer appropriate, and irresistibly sniffable! if smoky plum with a pop sounds good to you, I recommend giving this one a try.

    Frost

This apricot is pleasant but subdued, kinda jammy with a touch of smoke. did not get much soil. the hay blends in gorgeously with the amber and fruit, and there is a subtle mentholated chill to the scent.

    De Windstoot

I got a bit more of the orchid the first time I tested this, but on 2nd test, it lurks in the periphery with the earthy tobacco flower while the vetiver and oud take center stage. it's not a barnyard oud, the vetiver is a grassier one, and although the composition does lean toward a standard vetiver fragrance, I think the orchid keeps it interesting.

    Dark Chocolate Dried Cricket

I am enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. The sesame/hazelnut/patch combo is coming across as a unified front that dries down into something resembling ...weed? And it's awesome? It's not quite like the lab's usual cannabis note but there's definitely a terpenic sort of quality that is noticably different than a dank patchouli. Also full disclosure: I don't really partake anymore so don't hate me if I'm way off base. Just give this one a try!

    Rose Quartz Phallus

a burst of juicy grapefruit up front transitions into a perky velvety pink ...no, I'm serious! it's nose tickling, soft, and a bit tangy.

Everything in Life has Two Sides

my first blind test of this I wrote "plum peony grapefruit?" but of course it's a happy little salted yuzu sitting on top! and the wine note blends in very nicely with this palette. it's almost like a posh sangria with flowers in it, and I don't get a whole lot from the cedarwood/patchouli end of things. brilliant blend.

    Inyo Gozasso Nozu

this is absolutely stunning. it's pretty darn close to Glowing Vulva but it has gorgeous dollop of LILAC! the spiced honey is only very delicately spiced, and the tolu balsam sort of snugs up to the teak, and do not fear the polished amber! it doesn't smell fume-y or lacquer-y to me at all. I could do with a bit more lilac cream, but it does bloom out nicely on the skin. the scent overall is rather subtle: not quite as soft as a "your skin but better," but like a pair of fancy knickers, you might be the only one to enjoy it unless you plan to get up close and personal.

    Malinka

I thought I was going overboard ordering two scents with raspberry and honey, but this could not be more completely different than the Honey Pot trio with raspberry. it's got an overall coolness and elegance, an evening sort of come hither vibe, whereas the honey trio is a fun/sunshine/jump for joy sort of scent. if you enjoyed the honeyed cream from Slug (Yule 2023) this is the roseberry version of that. probably a good way to get yourself a little Malinka if you know what I mean.

    Honey, Raspberry Jam, and Buttercream

this is golden and gorgeous and perfect. a bright, warm honey with bold ruby facets of raspberry and a whisk of sugary buttercream. honestly the buttercream is not super prominent for me but it adds a lovely bakeshop vibe. I already love honey so I didn't really need to be sold on this, and I'm also glad it's not crushingly sweet. a gourmand I can endorse! and slather copiously!

    Drowsy Voyeur

Poppies! Sometimes I struggle with the way they can dominate the scent. Poppy sits on top of this pretty prominently for the first couple hours of wear, but doesn't drown out the other notes, so I'm still on board. I am not mad about the guava either, it works nicely with the plum to provide a pleasant fruity pulse between the poppy, musk, and the darker notes in the lower range. I really like how this all comes together, but I am always hoping for more patchouli, like a little patchouli gremlin.

    Please Come

My first impression of this was sexy paper, and later “a perfect peony scented envelope” and I’m not sure I have much to add to that. It’s an unsweet amber, and the peony throws a good bit. almost feels too fancy for me even though it's quite simple and sniffable! edited to add: ok I'm really wearing this one today and this peony projection is *perfection.* incredibly wearable. it's going in my cart.

    Night-Scented Orchid

Finally got around to trying this, thank you reviewers! This is lovely, and I haven't got much new to add. Heady/rich/full-bodied but somehow still rather polite jasmine cooled by an evening breeze carrying a gentle waft of citrus. How does she do it? It's magical.

    Snowy Circus Peanut

Yep, this definitely has Snow White snow in it, because my skin trashes it in exactly the same way. If Snow White works for you tho it might be a fun one to try!

    Skeletons Warming Themselves

uff I'm loving this and wishing I'd gotten a bigger sample. the patchouli and vanilla are nice and dry, like fabric, and there does seem to be a grace note of iron in the mix, and the darkly glowing resinous base sets everything up perfectly. I'm not picking up on much ash or dust in this, and the clove is truly sparse. perfect for a bleak february day. not a big scent but it really wraps you up.

    Dreamward

I sampled this instead of springing for the full size bottle straight away, because sometimes lemon verbena can get a little overwhelming for me. applying this today I got that trademark TAL scent, a hit of lemon verbena, but then a scant few minutes later POOF! it's a floofy lavender pillow! perfection.

    Les Pleurs

INTERESTING to read the previous review as I come here to say Les Pleurs is like the full blown *Fragrance* version of the Terrible Moon scent note palette. almost seems "perfumey" or "mainstream" in terms of a BPAL scent, but not in a bad way. cannot put my finger on what is being used for the ochre note, and I suspect some alchemy went into antiquing the myrrh. the smoke/ash/stone aspects of the blend are super mild for me.

    Lucky Hand Root

I dig this root! and it does indeed smell like freshly dug up roots while the oil is wet. at first the orchid is overshadowed by the earthy roots, but then it begins to bloom and the scent really balances out.

Terrible Moon: Cardamom and Black Amber

compared to Terrible Moon itself, this is quite a stark scent. much closer to poking your nose in the cardamom jar on the spice rack. the amber is giving it a bit of a posh silhouette but there is nothing sweet or cozy happening here. good to layer with the moon if you want to boost the spice factor for sure.

    Terrible Moon

well at least for once in 2026 I can say: this is not at all terrible! tremendously comforting, as advertised. surprisingly not super beeswaxy, but unsurprisingly the wool is not going to let you forget it's there. it does play exceedingly nicely with the other notes - the sandalwood in particular! - it's just not a note you can hide. also, I don't find it truly milky, it's like the idea of milk is present. everything comes together rather gorgeously! gets a bit sweeter as it dries. a very soft, well-blended scent that feels like a hug.

    Bulgarian Rose and Coffee Beans

This is such a delightfully uplifting blend. Must love roses, of course, but this coffee is wonderfully different as well. At first this smells like putting your face right into a pile of coffee beans, except there are a million luscious red rose petals on top. The roses are rosiest through the earlier part of the weartime, 1-2 hours. Through the later part of wear, however, the coffee scent becomes that magical lived in scent - like when you go into someone's kitchen and they are the kind of person who grinds their coffee fresh every morning, the kitchen smell becomes a coffee smell becomes a warm hug. I smell like that kitchen right now and it kindof makes me want to cry (in a good way), especially because I have been hunting ceaselessly for my BPAL coffee scent. I am very happy to have this one! Please do it again with lavender!

    Hearthglow

I see fossilized amber resin and I covet!! This gorgeous note is the beating heart of Hearthglow. The beautiful warm bouquet of resin and spice and sustenance sings out while the oil is wet, but as it dries the lavender-orange-honey comes to the foreground of the warm amber glow. Lean in close to get a breath of clove and allspice. Would absolutely love to smell this around the house as well as on my person.

    Mureera Beard Oil

Mureera is a like, not a love, for me. I really wanted to try this and Aurum and I thought I would like Mureera better, but - as is frequently the case - I was wrong! Of course there's nothing wrong with this fragrance, it's quite lovely and wearable, but I probably wouldn't go all the way to the country of the Troglodytæ to get some. I find that myrrh frequently has a fuzzy aspect to it, and I like to associate that fuzz to dark velvet, but this is more of a fuzzy bunny. Very soft and approachable, honestly likely to pair well with many of your other resinous frags. Just not my preferred fuzz. I am glad to have a decant and I hope folks try this one!

    On Death

On Death is absolutely gorgeous. I will say I enjoy terebinth, but I do not find it overbalanced in this blend. If you think you want to smell like ecstatic unbecoming, yes you do. Return to the soil but make it glam. A subtly stunning blend of earthy notes and elevated resins, it is simultaneously of this world and beyond. The star stuff on the forest floor.
