Dead Leaves and Kettle Corn Hair Gloss

This is an amazing hair gloss! The dead leaves notes doesn't overpower the kettle corn or vice versa. Lasts for a good bit too, the dead leaves note is the first to fade with the kettle corn staying around longer. If you adore carnival or circus themed scents like I do, try and get this if you can! I'm sure this will pair wonderfully with Mouse Circus, Midway, or even the Cranberries and Popcorn Winter 2020 perfume oil among others.

    Hell's Belle

This took me by surprise. Initially it smelled like some fruit punch, but with some drying it has turned a slightly powdery fruity floral. Barely getting any spices from this, but it is there and may be more prominent on someone else with different body chemistry. A very citrus scent with oleander is what appears the most on me. Really digging this, maybe enough to get a bottle, but that won't be for some time.

    Single Note: Fog Machine Juice

This is nicer than I thought it would be. It's kind of hard to describe the scent though. It's somewhat a clean smell, but there's this smokey note to it (not incense). It's also a little bit fruity but I can't quite place my finger on what note it is since the smoke is more present on me. I want to say some type of berries? And there's also a little bit floral too in the background. It's intriguing and gets sweeter over time on me. But I think this does work best if it's layered with something else. For example, Rattlecans and Sliders from the 2020 Lilith release this year. It has this note along with soft serve strawberry ice cream. I'm sure this would work well with other sweet oils to give it a bit of depth. Loving this decant, may get a bottle!

    Common Jezebel

Not sure how I feel about this. I immediately get the apricot and some powder when it's wet, but the lemon sugar and coconut come out slightly when dried. Vetiver was turning me off initially, but it mellowed out the longer it dried. I think this is a good scent, but personally I can't see myself gravitating towards this. It's just not sweet enough for me. Glad I tried it at least and just settled with a decant.

Jupiter Nourished by the Goat Amalthea

I'm getting a ton of goat's milk and honey in this, it's very faint and slightly powdery as well. I want to say there is peach in here (the nectar probably), but it's hard to tell since honey is the more dominant note. It gets sweeter and sweeter the more it dries down, I'm guessing on me it's due to the honey. This is a very sweet blend, however I'm not a fan of the lower than usual throw. Could be useful for layering, but on its own I'm not a huge fan. Will keep this decant for the time being!

    My Tiger

This is a very heavy amber scent on me, so much so that it almost drowns out the lavender. Patchouli was there in the initial stages, but has faded considerably along with the sugar cane. If the lavender was stronger, this could have been a bottle buy for me. And I don't hate amber by any means, it's just I adore lavender and I wish I could get more of it to show up. For a pure amber scent though, this is lovely! It just doesn't have much staying power as well. Hoping I can layer this well with some other scents in my collection, so I'll enjoy this partial decant while I can. If you really love amber, you should give this a try if your skin chemistry is similar to mine.

    Samhain

This review is for 2018, I'll update this review for my bottle of the 2017 version if it's different than this decant. Samhain morphed a lot on me when I first applied it. I immediately could smell the apple, pumpkin, and patchouli. But within mere seconds the clove, nutmeg, and allspice came forward more. Since it's been dry for a while, the main notes I get are the apple, pumpkin, and nutmeg with the previously mentioned notes still there but much less prominent. Sadly, I'm not picking up any other notes like the fir needles. But as someone who loves gourmand, I am not disappointed in the slightest. This is a very fall scent, but I'd wear this any time of the year. I think this is one of the best BPAL scents I've tried and I'm eagerly awaiting my bottle!

    Ian

Wet, leather and fur are the strongest notes. The more it dries, the more I can detect the slightly fruity rum and a faint hint of the patchouli. The leather is the first to fade into the background once dry for a while, so on me it's the rum and fur. This is I believe the first BPAL I've tried with a fur note, I can see why it's popular. However, I am disappointed patchouli didn't last on me. This was amazing in the wet stage, enough to make me consider a bottle in the future. But the more it dried, the more the notes faded. It's definitely not bad once completely dried down, but the rum scent has been almost drowned out by the fur note. I was glad to have gotten this frimped, but I can't see much use for it now besides layering. I just ordered a decant of the Bear Prince from this year's Yule release, so now I'm a little nervous the fur in that oil will dominate the rest of the notes the way it did in this one. However, if fur is one of your all time favorite notes, I would give this a try!

Kabe Ni Mimi Ga Aru, Shoki Ni Me Ga Aru

Vanilla is amped on me, so I can't smell much else besides that when it's freshly applied! If I concentrate, I can smell what I believe to be sandalwood, but all the other notes get lost until it's been dry for about 10 minutes. After that point, I can finally notice the patchouli. The vanilla notes to me are very foodie and sweet. I'm picturing slightly melted, sticky ice cream as I sniff my wrist. And once the patchouli comes out, I see the vanilla Coke resemblance some other reviewers have pointed out. This is a wonderful scent for vanilla lovers, not so much if you love the other notes as well. As someone who loves the Lab's patchouli, this disappointed me a little considering that note was nowhere near as strong as vanilla. Doubtful I'll pick up a bottle, but I will enjoy the decant I have.

    The Witch and the Mandrake

Apple blossom and coconut milk are the strongest on me, the leather isn't appearing at all which I don't mind since I'm picky with what leather I like. After a bit of time drying, the sandalwood comes out but it's still heavily apple and coconut. Coconut milk doesn't stay very long, so in the end I'm left with a mostly apple blossom and sandalwood blend. It also smells kind of clean too, not completely laundry detergent but softer. This was a complete surprise, I wasn't expecting for it to be this clean and sweet. I guess I just amp up the sweet notes or everything has mellowed with age. Doubtful I'll pick up a bottle since it's turned into a clean scent and I have plenty of those, but I think this could layer well with some other oils I have. Can't wait to try this out with more from my collection!

    Doll's Eye Infused Honey

This is very heavy mint on me with a drizzle of honey. Not getting any other notes but these two, this imp is about a decade old now anyway. It's pretty simple, but I'm enjoying it! I wish the honey was a bit more dominant on me since Fairy Bites is my go to for mint. But I'd still reach for this if I want to add a touch of mint for layering. Will keep this around for sure!

    Lolita

This is really pretty. Starts off like an almost powdery honeysuckle with the orange and lemon notes being the strongest. It's clean, but not quite laundry detergent clean or soapy. I would say the florals are more dominant in this than the citrus, but that could be due to aging of the imp. Staying power is pretty low and a low throw too. But still, this could work well with layering I believe. Doubt I could ever find a bottle of this, but I'll keep an eye out.

    Peach Pie

When it's wet, I get more of the pie note than the peach. But once dry, the peach is stronger. I don't really know how to accurately describe the peach in this, it smell slightly watered down and I have to really pay attention as I sniff to get the pie notes that were more present in the beginning. I'm pretty sure my body chemistry is messing with this as well and turning the peach into a very sugary syrup. I saw a comparison to those peach ring candies and I agree too, it starts of smelling like canned peaches but turns into an artificial peach scent pretty rapidly in my case. I think I would have preferred a pure peach scent than a pie. I wonder if this scent worked better as a hair gloss or something. It's nice, but not something I'd gravitate towards much due to the peach note acting weird on me. I love peaches so I'd be bummed if BPAL's note doesn't work well with me. Will hold onto my decant for now unless I can find a better peach scent.

The Woman at the Edge of the Woods

I can notice the chamomile almost immediately since I wore an oil with that note yesterday. Rose is also pretty dominant on me, but hasn't turned soapy or anything. Funnily enough, I'm not getting any of the patchouli. That's a bit of a bummer since I love that note and it's basically the only thing keeping me from upgrading to a bottle. It's nice, but I feel like there is something missing. It's very interesting and totally out of my comfort zone, glad I decided to try this. Starts out heavy and strong, but quickly begins to mellow out on me. This is the first scent I've tried from the Dead Blondes and Bad Mother's line, really eager to try some more that would work better for me!

    Children of the Cornucopia

Hay and the sweet patchouli are the dominant notes on me, tobacco flower is a little hard to spot but it's there. I'm really digging the patchouli in this, I'll have to find more oils that use this kind. I swear there's something else sweet in here, but I can't tell what it is. This was a random decant buy based on the name, but I ended up really enjoying this! I could see this working very well with Escape from the Autumn Carnival; it's basically a sweeter version of that on me minus the leather and smoke notes. It's a very comforting fall scent and reminds me of being on a farm. I could see myself getting a bottle of this, but I want to keep the decant for now. You're gonna love this if you adore hay notes!

    The Moon's My Own

Lemon is the strongest note that I can detect, but there's also some faint ice note in here along with the musk. Not familiar with moonflower so I couldn't pick it out if it showed up. This almost reminds me of lemonade with some type of herb or mint added in. It's very nice, but also very faint throw with a low staying power. Can't see a bottle upgrade, but I'll keep the decant around for a special occasion.

    Against Idleness and Mischief

This is a pretty old imp I have, so this smells mostly of baby powder (maybe it's from the hyssop, a note I'm not familiar with) and the chamomile. The honey is there but pretty faint from aging I'm guessing. It's not bad, but I prefer some other scents I've tried to this one like Follow Me Boy. It also fades pretty quickly. It's very pretty so I'll hold onto the imp for a while.

    Single Note: Stage Blood

This is so beautiful! When first applied, it strongly smells of cherry and orange syrup, but the dry stage makes the dragon's blood note and some powder come through too. I think there might be some incense in this as well, or something similar like maybe patchouli? Cherry is definitely the strongest note on this, next to the dragon's blood. It's a very sweet scent that reminds me of slushies and candy. Even if you're not a powder fan, this note didn't last very long on me. Kicking myself for passing on a bottle, will keep an eye out for another one to pour my decant in. This was a great pick me up after a horrible day 💗.

    Herbert West

This is a lot nicer than I anticipated. This is basically aftershave at first, but it morphs into a clean laundry scent during drydown. I'm not getting other notes that people have mentioned such as citrus; my imp is probably old since this is discontinued and those notes could have faded over time. Shockingly, the wear is pretty good on this. This has me wanting to try Embalming Fluid next! Realistically, I wouldn't buy a bottle of this because it's just not a scent that I gravitate towards. But it's a calming nice scent that makes me think of a person close to me. And for that reason enough, this imp will be in my collection forever.

    Cabaret.Goth

This smells just like cream soda on my skin. The mandarin doesn't stay too long, it's the strongest in the wet stage. A little hard to pick out the florals and spices, but they are there in the background. In my case, the throw isn't that good which is a letdown knowing how sought after these types of oils are. This is very pretty and I wouldn't mind having a bottle, but I don't see that happening for a very long time due to it's rarity. This was the first Goth that I've tried and hopefully not the last!

    Plastic Pumpkin Candy Tub

This is only orange candy on me, I guess I'm either amping that note up or the other ones have aged out. Slightly chalky with a touch of mint too, so this to me is pretty similar to Pez, Pixy Stix, or even Tic Tacs. Really wasn't sure what to even expect with this since I didn't read reviews before buying. I really like it, can't say I'd reach for it much since it's just the orange powdery candy note and nothing else, but this could be fun for a few occasions and I probably wouldn't say no to picking up some more of this if I find it for a good price. If you are obsessed with orange and mint, give this one a try since for me it's the most dominant note!

    Sticky Eyeballs and Floppy Entrails

This is such a fun scent! It's all creamy strawberry jam with licorice on me, I can't pick out any marshmallow. The jam is amped up on me and reminds me of a jelly donut. There is a little bit of a powder note on me too, probably from the marshmallow? As someone who doesn't like to eat licorice, I think it adds a nice touch to this blend. I really love this and am hoping I can snag a bottle of it sometime!

    Swank

This is very nice, more pleasant than I expected. It starts off super alcohol which turns into a powdered sugar like scent on me once dried down. The pomegranate is also stronger dry than when it was wet for me. Alcohol note is still present but it's mostly in the background. This reminds me of 2020 Aesthetic from the Lilith's this year, the scent is a tad artificial like the kind you'd find on a scented toy like Strawberry Shortcake. If I had tried this first and didn't prefer the raspberry note to the pomegranate, I would have bought a bottle of this. It's still a lovely scent though and I might just get a bottle anyway sometime down the line.

    Blueberry Cream Pie

This is the first pie I've tried and it is beautiful. Immediately get the blueberries and the pie crust starts to appear with drying. Definitely agree with the others that the blueberry note resembles blueberry syrup. My only complaint is that, much like Lán Yuèliàng, the blueberry note is the quickest to fade. It's still there for a few hours but I wish it lasted a little longer like the crust. Will have to keep my eyes peeled for a bottle of this or try the hair gloss version. This is a dream for blueberry lovers!

    Falling Leaves Moon 2020

This was a bit of a letdown as the first Falling Leaves Moon I've tried. Heavily carrot at first, but with drying the cinnamon and tobacco comes out more. The leaves don't appear until it's dried down for a while. It was the worst when wet so it isn't completely bad dry, it's just not something I could find myself reaching for. Glad I tried it at least, just wish it worked better on me.
