Part Two of my boyfriend's surprise gift to me (Part One being The Girl). I had been talking myself out of this scent on the phone to him (I was only getting myself two Halloweenies) but I guess he thought I needed it Bottle: Hello Jack without the pumpkin note of doom! (I loved Jack until I sniffed it one too many times and promptly felt ill). I can sense the spicy notes, and the apple notes. Makes my nose happy. Wet: Tart apples with something spicy. I'm going to say Granny Smith and Nutmeg. A very strong Granny Smith. Dry: My gods, this is delicious. The cinnamon has reared its head, tango-ing with the nutmeg until the spices are to die for. The apple is still there in a cider form. It's making me feel warm and cuddly. I think this will be my go-to October/November scent. Definitely going into my rotation. It would definitely be a second bottle if I didn't take years and years to finish one.

    The Girl

My boyfriend decided to surprise me with two bottles of perfume. Of course, it came and I had placed an order on the 2nd, so I was like "No way in HELL that's the perfume I ordered!" Then he played dumb. And then he admitted it. At least I know he listens when I talk now :-) Bottle: Maybe it's my nose today, but I can hardly smell anything! It's so faint. I'm taking this as a good and a bad. Good because it means the florals won't kill it. Bad because it may disappear on my skin. But from what I can smell, I get the faint tinge of jasmine mixed with amber and musk. Well, here goes... Wet: Where did this go!? It's gone. Maybe it's the lotion I put on that totally sucked away my skin's chance of perfume? That makes no sense. Where is this perfume?! Dry: Found it! And what a beautiful perfume it is. The jasmine isn't overpowering, and the musk isn't killing me like some musks like to do. The birch is coming out. I don't normally smell some wood notes, or maybe my skin eats them, but this one I can smell and I like it! It's a very sweet, well-blended perfume that's very light. Sticks close to the skin. I'm liking this a lot.

    Knucklebones

Oh, I had hoped for lime. I had read that other people got lime, my favoritest of favorite notes. *sigh* Imp: Smoke. Lots of smokey tobacco. And the tang of something alcoholic. Wet: Whoa musk. Loads of musk. And really not good musk. I started coughing after taking a big whiff. Please, lime, start to show through! Dry: Hello alcohol. Lots of it. The gin and the rum mix together, giving this a very boozy scent. Alas, still no lime. And the musk is still there, strong underneath it all. Definitely not for me. I'm glad I got to try it though. Let's see if the Boy or a friend wants it.

    Cthulhu

Got this as a frimp from a generous forumite. In Imp: Something dark, wet, and a familiar niggling at the back of my mind. Behind all the tentacled-slimy-scent is something I know. Wet: My god, it's Cinnabar by Estee Lauder. I used to put this on when I went to my grandmother's house. I remember wearing it when I was five and we got the call at three in the morning that my oldest younger sister was born. Ack, the olfactory memories! *cuddles them* Dry: Well, there goes Cinnabar, leaving behind something deliciously aquatic. It's a dark, depths-of-the-ocean-Mariana-Trench kind of scent. And definitely a bit too masculine for me. Keeping the imp for the scent memories, but probably not a bottle.

That! The Terror From Over There!

Bottle: I can definitely smell the wasabi. In fact, it's almost all wasabi. But I love that. Ever since the Villainess body scrub of the same name, I've been intrigued by this amazing note. And then to hear BPAL did one? *swoon* Wet: That lovely wasabi-in-a-bottle has turned into kiwi. And lots of kiwi. Thankfully, I adore kiwi so my nose is glued to my wrist. Dry: The spiciness peeks out just a tiny bit, adding some depth to this kiwi scent. It's so green. That's really the only way to put it. A little bit of musk is in there too, I think, because I'm getting a that sense. It's an absolutely lovely combination and I think I'm hopelessly addicted and in love. Definitely a 5/5 bottle for me!

    Pumpkin Smash

This one I hadn't tried for awhile. The first time I put it on, I remember thinking, "Egads! Get this off of me!" but I'd forgotten and seeing my pile of unused bottles/imps, I decided to try it again. Thank god I did. Bottle: Pumpkin. Not the spicy, mmm-pie-pumpkin, just pumpkin. Wet: I think I amp smoke notes because that's all I could smell for the first few seconds. The pumpkin came through, but it must have been a smoker because the smoke lingered about. Dry: Finally! After about thirty minutes, the smoke fades and this delicious beeswax smell comes through. I don't get any beer (which I had the first time, so maybe letting it age was a good thing). Just pumpkin and beeswax and nummy goodness. Not one of my all time favorites, but definitely one I'll be keeping around =)

    Alice

Imp: I got this as a frimp (thank you, vampkat) and have actually never tried it. Though it was in a rollerball, I could smell the roses and the dreaded milk note. I'm always iffy with the milk/cream notes because my skin can sometimes do some wacky stuff to them. Wet: Wow! All carnation. Spicy, sharp, with a very small undertone of something creamy. Dry: I think I love this. It's like carnation and cream, but not the wacky cream my skin sometimes amps. Like a little girl with combat boots. I may need more of this.

Eight Views of Actors in Their Dressing Rooms

Bottle: Mm. I can smell the citrus now. It's lovely, really. Wet: Okay...why am I getting an aquatic from this? The first few sniffs are all taking me under the sea... all that lovely citrus is gone! Dry: And back it comes! Hurrah! A nice blend of citrus with a bit of the tonka sneaking through. I think there may be some tea scent lingering in there too, but my nose is fighting to ignore it. Tea makes me sick Overall, beautiful scent! Another fantastic job.

    Earth Rat

Bottle: All melon. Seriously delicious, mouth watering sugared melon. I could stand here and sniff this for days. Wet: More melon! Definitely a cantaloupe. But I think it's the peony that's poking its head up, taming the loud fruit a bit. As it dries, the melon disappears, making me a bit sad. Dry: The melon comes back! It's now a perfect blend of melon and peony, and something else that I can't pinpoint. It may be the bamboo or the plum blossom. Either way, it's faint, but it's still very lovely. One of my new favorites!

    Flowering Chrysanthemums

Bottle: Definitely something spicy in here, and I can smell the flowers underneath it. Wet: Whoa, hello cinnamon with tinges of incense floating around. Mostly cinnamon right now though. Dry: Marigold! My god, I forgot how this smelt but the minute I took a sniff, all the memories of my grandmother's garden came back. Mums are right there too. Smells absolutely delicious, still a bit spicy in the background. Yum. Definitely a keeper.

    Zombie Apocalypse

The Bottle: Jelly. Strawberry jelly upon heaps of more jelly. But something lingers underneath, threatening to overthrow the jelly overlords. Wet: WTF is that? Slightly nauseating amounts of red berries. I can't smell anything else for a good two minutes until it dries. Dry: I want to eat my own brains. The "something else" from before is a bit spicy and sugary. A brown sugar, like Femme_fatale said. It blends into this strawberry confectionery that makes me want to eat anything it touches. Overall: Despite the Jelly OD in the beginning, this is a keeper. The throw is decent, the lasting power is more than two hours (I had to shower then =( ) and the glow of the sugary sweetness seems to blend with my skin chemistry so nicely. I think this scent may make zombies instead of smell like them

    Crimson Christmas

First Bottle Sniff: Whoa, smoke. That's all I can smell. An ashy, definitely chimney smoke. Wet: Definitely still smoke. Nothing else seems to be coming out except a tinge of a metallic note that I'll give to the blood. Dry: And now it blossoms into something I absolutely adore. The smoke is in the background, lingering among the mint note, the light berry note (which I wish would come out a bit more - my skin usually amps all fruity scents!) and still a bit of ash. I don't get a particularly cold scent, instead my skin makes it more like a warm pipe. Definitely a keeper for me!

    Cyberpunk scents?

This may sound weird (it does to me too) but I'm yearning to find scents that will remind me of the beautiful Gibsonian, dystopia. I'm writing a novel (for NaNoWriMo) that is in the cyberpunk genre. (My username there is the same that it is here if anyone wants to friend me ) I have Kataniya down on my list of things to get already *grin* As I can usually get into the writing mood I want to invoke by using awesome scents, I wanted to know what the best cyberpunk-y scents were.

    Tamora

I wanted to love this one. I wanted to experience the fruity/sweet/amber-y scent that I could smell in the bottle. It seemed to be a delicious combination, with the sandalwood as a beautiful tint of maturity. Alas... Play-dough This marks the only Illyria that hasn't worked on me...Now to find what the playdough culprit is...

    The Perilous Parlor

I must have fortunate skin chemistry because this is all vanilla-y pear on me, all day. It tends to last six hours plus, and the pear never disappears (though it does take a step back near the end of the day). First sniff, it's definitely all juicy, delicious pear. The vanilla isn't even a component until it hits my skin, where it evens out quickly. It's also one of the scents that get a reaction from many, many people. I must've enabled at least five others at work with this scent alone! I feel so lucky that I love this, and the Twisted Oak Tree...because then I can order the whole Haunted House without minding the doubles *squee*!

    Thirteen (13): July 2007

Totally cocoa and an orangy-peachy fruit on me. Absolutely divine. And it lasted for a good 6 hours with decent throw, and now (almost 10 hours later) I can still smell it if I put my wrist to my nose. Mmmmm...

    Lime!

Thank you all for your very quick replies!! I've always loved lime but never thought to wear it. I'm just lucky that it's a "me" scent! I do have an Imp of Mock Turtle's Lessons, so I'll have to try that next. As for Croquet, Spider and Detox, they go on my list ASAP!!

    Lime!

After having Shoggoth turn into complete lovely lime on me, I was wondering if anyone could reccommend another lime-tinted scent for me to try? I've already tried Shoggoth, and Envy (which smelt like fresh cut grass to me) Thanks in advance!
  19. SlySionnach

    Shoggoth

Name: Shoggoth In Bottle: Very lemongrass, and some wisteria. It's very faint... I almost can't smell it! On Skin Wet: Oh... my... gods. I love this. I love lime, and, unlike in the bottle, my skin is amping it with the hint of coconut, making me practically swoon! There's a tiny bit of an aquatic water lily note underneath, but the lime is taking the stage! Drying: Lime still strong, but the coconut is coming through more. A bit of the lemongrass trying to peek its head up. Evaluation: I think this may have to be my signature scent for now, because I'm trying to sniff my wrist off! Many bottles... many many bottles...

    The Mock Turtle's Lessons

Name: Mock Turtle's Lessons In Bottle: Iris and apple with a watery base Wet: Apple is the strongest, but the iris is coming out faintly. Dry: Oou I can smell the mint! It's slowly growing stronger and mingling with the apple in a scent I could never imagine exists! No sign of vodka, and only little bits of the lime. Evaluation: Nice scent. Probably won't be more than an imp or two in my collection, though.

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

Name: Monsterbait: Tokyo Stomp In the Bottle: Ahh! Thin Mints! How positively delicious! I thought this would be more of a York Peppermint Patty (which would have been fine--I love that too). But it seems the vanilla went bakery on me! Wet: Still the strong mint! Vanilla is still the base, making my nose happy. I usually am not a big vanilla fan but I love it in this. Drying: Vanilla is coming out a bit more, calming the mint finally. It’s blending together into a very sweet, but tolerably sweet, blend. Throw: Fair Evaluation: I’ll wear this, but only for special occasions. Every day would be a bit much.

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

Name: Monsterbait: Bloody Mary In Bottle: Holy Cough Syrup, Batman! Seriously, the sweetness of it immediately hits my senses, like sticky, sweet cherry syrup. Wet: Just like Cherry Syurp at first. The powdered sugar really starts to make itself known. Drying: Confectionaries! Really, dark, cherry flavored confections or maybe icing. Some strawberry and raspberry make their way up, though are definitely overpowered by the cherries! Either way, the darkness of it keeps me from running away from the sugary overload. 30 Minutes: Still strong and even more dark, deep cherry flavor! Throw: Decent Evaluation: A Keeper! It makes me feel simply devious!

    The Gibbous Moon

Name: The Gibbous Moon In Bottle: Hyacinth! And something familiar lurking in the background. Maybe it's the orris. This, to me, is just completely floral, floral, FLORAL! Wet: Maybe it's the hyacinth, or maybe it's my skin, but this is being amped to the max. This is one of the freshest scents I've ever smelt, and reminds me so much of a starry night in a garden. Lying back in the darkness with beautiful white and blue blossoms around you... mmm... And Irish moss is one of my all-time favorite notes, and my nose can barely pick it up. Perfect. Drying: The Hyacinth is finally dying down into a clean scent, though it still lingers within a foot of my wrist. Compared to other florals I've smelt, this is also a sweeter scent... and I really can't tell why 30 Minutes: Hyacinth finally relaxing to let out the softer Irish moss, cucumber and a bit of the moonflower. Evaluation: Beautiful. Just beautiful. One of my favorite scents so far... I am so glad I decided to get this! If only I bought more, lol.

    Lick It

(First typed up review ) BPAL Reviews Name: Lick It (Yule 2005) In Bottle: Peppermint whoa! Totally candy cane. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind. Very, very faint hint of vanilla underneath the strong mint. Wet: Peppermint has taken over my senses! It leaves my wrist slightly cool, and makes me think of Christmas time. It's all the goodness of Candy Canes minus the sticky mess! Drying: Vanilla is starting to show, taking it from candy sweet to a more perfume-y sweet, if you know what I mean, lol. The mint is strong enough to tickle my nose every time I sniff it! 30 Minutes: Peppermint is still strong, though the vanilla is starting to fade a bit. Next time I'll totally use more than a dab! Throw: Little, but I didn't put that much on. Duration: It's been an hour and still going! Rating: This is a keeper! So glad I have a full bottle!
