    FORMULA SGHAN3: Birthday Cake

I agree completely with Doomesdaydisco, and in fact, Shante You Stay and I had just discussed on Friday that this was a perfect KIDS birthday cake frosting scent, as it had the tang to the frosting that I remember from canned frosting in my childhood. Which is what kids like... my cousin used to invite me to have sleep overs at her house, and one thing we did was make boxed cakes and frost them with canned Betty Crocker frosting and the scent reminds me of those cozy summer parties. All throughout the day I get pleasant little clouds of frosting around me and that is lovely. However, I wanted gluten.

    The Storyteller

I love this one. Although not listed as a book scent, to me the leather and smoke have a library vibe. Either leather book bindings, or, a soft leather chair by a fireplace in the library. The beeswax a soft sweetness that could be papery.... I dunno, but I am storing this one with my book scents, which are my favorite sleep scents. ❤️

    Mother's Hot Ghosts

If you like a dirty indolic scent, here it is! It has the same Oud smell from the Yule Chessnut and Oud Atmo.

Give Me Thy Breath, My Sister

This is so lovely, In vial I smell honey. Thick rich honey. Wet on skin I first smelled a blast of green. Like fresh spring green. It smelled like a gentle breeze rolling over spring fields of flowers. And I wondered where the honey went! Next, before drying I got the mint, and it’s a sharp scent. Wasn’t liking the mint... But, when DRY it is such a lovely honey and spring flowers. I wouldn’t say I smelled cotton candy, but the florals do smell light and airy, like the mouth feel of spun sugar. It is a happy scent. ❤️

    Corn Riggs

Let me just drop this here: Autumn minus cinnamon. 😳 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I wish I had picked this up when I had the chance, as I have been thinking about it ever since. It is a really nice autumn scent, and it didn’t amp spice at all. And, I am not fond of apple... this was so light on the apple. Just.... good. I smelled acorns, hay, and something sweet but it’s not Gourmand at all.

    Cat Event Exorcist

I smelled and tested this at the DSLE. First, I was relieved that this contains a *cold* hairball accord. If it actually has one. Those of us with cats know that NOTHING IS AS HORRID AS WARM WET FURBALL. Cold furballs though are quite innocuous. In the bottle this smelled warm and fuzzy and reminded me of Bears of Berlin, minus the cider note that wasn’t actually in the notes and confused my nose since it was cider spice with no apple. That cider note appeared after I wore Bears for ten minutes. But that first ten minutes that Bears was all warm and fuzzy and made me wanna dive into something fluffy and give hugs, that’s what cat event exorcist is about. That’s in the bottle. On the skin I still smelled the warm soft brown musk, but, also got the olive wood and clove? It is so well blended that none of the scents dominated, I was worried the Frank would try and dominate, but it didn’t. The scent stayed soft on my skin. Still, on my skin this didn’t go into perfume territory, and basically stayed more soft than bold. I found it comforting. I am really enjoying the labs brown musk note, if you do as well, this is a win.

    Marshmallow Chick Sanguinem Menstruum

The review above is so beautiful and probably totally accurate, but to a less refined sniffer, I got red musk and marshmallow interchangeably. I didn’t think the red musk was fruity. It reminded me of the red musk in Bright Red Dildo. Also, it has a bright “bite” on application that’s coppery, but it’s the top note and gone in less than a minute. Wait this out. Then it’s the menstruum note that is the base of the other charity blends, with a fluffy marshmallow. The marshmallow is very FOOFEY. Like the little airy puff of marshmallow that greets you in the nose when you open a brand new bag of marshmallows. I like this layered with the red musk. I felt like the marshmallow note kept waving at me. I would think it had receded and only left my wrists with the red musk, then I would get a fresh FOOFEY fluffy whiff. I think its a fun Scent. I would wear this to all the places. It’s not too Gourmand for the workplace, and it doesn’t actually smell like a period. Ha, ha.

    Ancient Junk

Teakwood, sweet myrrh, beeswax rosin, and driftwood. I smelled this at the the Dirty South Lunacy, but didn’t get to skin test. In the bottle it smelled light and sweet, but I wanted to do a larger test area than I had room on my arms and wrists after trying out so many new scents from the Lupercalia collection, so I did not skin test that day. My decant came yesterday in the mail, and I did a full test this morning. So far this is my favorite from the release. The beeswax is most prominent on skin, and in the background there is the softest floral note. I do not enjoy florals very often, and tend to find them too prominent in scents, but this is so light, that I am thinking it must be the driftwood which I read can smell slightly like Sandalwood as a scent note. So, not a true floral, more sandalwood. I suppose this could be called a powdery note as well, however, it’s so ethereal, so blissfully soft and so pretty that I would own a thousand powdery scents if they all emulated this. It has medium throw and wear length. ETA: medium throw, but it’s eight hours since I applied and still going strong.

    Jólabókaflóð

This arrived in the mail a few days ago and since our climate is mild right now, I tested that evening. It is definitely a good book scent. I used to be active in Paperback Swap, and the lovely scent of receiving someone's treasured hardback book and settling down to read a cozy mystery while my children were napping has so many good feels for me. This is gently and lovingly blended, it is as if a librarian stirred the Dewey decimal system into a cauldron Over a little hearth. I think for me this is a sleep scent, and since I like to go to sleep reading first on my kindle, this will supply the ambiance of the hardback books I romantically love best, with the convenience of my reader.

    Old books... Books, paper, libraries

Jolabokaflod (Jólabókaflóðið: A dribble of candle wax, distant hearth-smoke, a fleck of chocolate Yule log, and aged, yellowing paper bound by well-loved leather that has passed through many gentle hands.) arrived in the mail yesterday and since our climate is mild right now, I tested that evening. I think for me this is a sleep scent, and since I like to read at bedtime, will be just as loved as an old book.

    Shub-Niggurath

I smell Archway Soft Gingerbread Cookies. The ginger has a "bite" that I could relate to being observed as "evil gingerbread", but can gingerbread ever truly be evil? Maybe if Morticia Addams baked it up.... it's very good. It has that bite that crystallized ginger has, and the vanilla smells like a little bit of frosting. Not getting cinnamon either, which is good for someone like me who amps cinnamon in ALL THE THINGS. Lovely. Would like to come by this in a swap, or buy a FS.

    My Little Themysciran Princess

I am not sure what notes I am predominantly smelling on this one, but it's so light and pretty. I keep waivering between thinking I am getting some of the metal notes from El Dorado, and then believing I am picking up some sort of roadside florals with honey. I do not pick up coconut, which is a win for me as it usually leans sun tan on me . Definitely a pleasant spring scent, or anytime you feel like you wanna be *precious*.

    Feeding The Dead

In bottle: beer, very very sweet cake scent that's yum. Wet on skin: big blast of a perfume scent and no cake. Whyyyyyyyyyyy? Want More cake, more cake!!! Dry: soft incense, light cake, very discernible beer note. Might love this, definitely going to slather test and revisit. Love the soft incense so much!

    Old books... Books, paper, libraries

This discussion is so cozy. This discussion makes me feel like I am reading old books. i am waiting to receive a couple bookish scents in the mail. I have bpal svarta fönix bókaflóð (A warm cup of chai, the purr of a bookstore cat, and a roaring fireplace nestled in a library, with books of every size, shape, age, and genre resting on the polished mahogany shelves.) and it definitely has a library vibe, but a touch cologne to me. Still, it's very cozy, the mahogany note adds something rich to the background that I am loving.

    Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris

In bottle: "meh". Smells like lavender. Lots of lavender. (Puts aside to destash) curious..... wet: Oh wait, something is sweet here. Is that the beeswax, or the stone note? The incense though. Wowza. The lavender is so soft and smooth, wth? Gah, I am digging this, it's so smooth, that stone note is so pretty. It's like the tiniest bit of NAVA Dino limestone (the tangyness, but so soft and not harsh), I need to smell more BPal stone notes... dry: Going to need a full bottle *cries*

    Bears of Berlin

In bottle: boozy, with a lovely Musk. On skin wet: I pick up a burst of Musk at the beginning of application, and its soft and fuzzy and such a lovely "my skin but better" scent. It's so good. Booze is burning off and now it's all this warm fuzzy skin Musk. So pretty. Dry: Now I get a similar cider vibe. The spice is coming forward and it's this odd mulling spice but not apple. Interesting, I like this. It's a skin hugging scent on me. Low throw, but intimate and cozy. Glad I bought a half bottle of this one. ❤️
